The Bible has some of the most metal stuff out there, especially the old testament. I just read through Genesis again this month, and there is a story about Jacob's daughter Dinah getting raped by this guy named Hamor. Hamor knows he screwed up and he begs for forgiveness from Jacob, so Jacob tells him that he will be forgive if all the men in his village get circumcised for God. Then, three days later when they are all sore and can't walk, Jacob and his men raid the village and kill all of the men. One of my favorite old testament recollections.
@@greyghostdesignsI don't think Jacob was doing that. Only Simeon an Levi. Jacob himself scolds his sons for doing this for he feared that the Cananites and perizzites will kill them all for this. Simeon and Levi answer to him ”Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot”.
@@greyghostdesigns absolutely A7X when God banished Cain for killing Abel he said if anyone kills Cain then their family will be cursed 7 generations. The song Chapter 4 is about Genesis chapter 4 when Cain killed Abel. Awesome material in the Old Testament. Just like Metallica's Creeping Death.
Barlow has a better sound to his voice overall, but frankly Stu Block is the superior singer on a technical level. People can go on and on about Barlow if they wish and believe me, he was my favorite IE vocalist as well, but I doubt he's ever coming back. Too wrapped up in his career as a police officer now. Stu is a fine replacment and fits the band well.
Very thrashy sound and a little bit of black in it. Music in fantastic, solo follows nicely the rhythm, but is a little bit short. I've always love Matt singing the most, but Stu is fenomenal in this song.
Stu is a combination of Barlow and Owens. His falsettos are on par with Ripper's and his deep baritone vocals are on par with Barlow's as well. My only complaint with Stu is he tries too hard to sound like both of them when singing the songs from those era's. Both Tim and Matt never tried to sound like each other. Stu does though. I hope he corrects that.
I posted it earlier but I can tell a big difference in Iced Earth's rhythm section when Brent Smedley is behind the kit. IE has had some great drummers in their line up but Smedley is the "right" drummer for this band! Please never leave again Brent!
Love it! Aggressive, evil, very reminiscent of Violate. So glad to have Brent Smedley back on drums. IE's rhythm section just never sounds right to me without him.
Iced earth can't make a bad song in their lives ! Amazing metal as usual. High standards and great songs and production has always been in this band mix. Truly sensational iced earth never ever disappoints for me.
Absolutely awesome, I'm blown away by this. The thing that I love most about Iced Earth is how much their every new album sounds different than the last one and this track is representing that perfectly. It's wicked, the vocals are insane, thrashy riffs...classic IE with a whole new approach. Well done guys, looking forward for the rest of the album, this sounds amazing.
Pretty hard to broadly classify Iced Earth as anything other than metal to be honest, but parts of this song definitely have a trashy vibe as did a lot of their earlier work, so I totally get what op is referring to. I mean the very fact that Jon mentions Slayer as one of their extreme points shows they have thrash elements in their music. Iced Earth has commonly been described as heavy metal,[2] thrash metal[1] and power metal.[1][2] When asked about the band's musical style, Jon Schaffer, Iced Earth's chief songwriter, said: "We're a metal band. That's what we are. We have every dynamic from Pink Floyd to Slayer and everything in between."[71]
Stu has legitimately got to be one of the most versatile singers in metal today. Between Iced Earth and Into Eternity he is all over the map with style, and he's actually damn good at outright singing too. How did he not become famous 20 years ago
Stu's best performance as Iced Earth singer so far. I've felt in the past, he's tried too much to sound like Matt Barlow, and has lacked the confidence to stamp his own unique vocal authority on the material. It seems like that is finally changing, which is no bad thing!
Sara Kane i completely agree bc i loved how monstrous he sounded in into eternity and ive missed that kind of aggressiveness coming from my favorite metal vocalist
Stevie Hendrick lets be honest here. he was sooo much better in intp eternity although i love him in iced earth. i just want another into eternity album dammit!!
Nicole Smrekar Stu is my favorite vocalist of all time. i personally think hes just that much better than anyone else. i just wish he could go back to death metal.
I'm 53 and still jamming to Florida's best....Stu is a mix of Matt and Jon...check out Ashes of Ares...Matt's the singer for them awesome songs...enjoy fellow headbangers
my wifes mom is always giving me squishy faced looks about me listening to this music. they're all heavy baptist and i was raised more along the lines of worship god if you want.. but if you don't, no one will give a shit.. Anyways.. Tried convincing her that if she listened past the general sound and just heard the lyrics she'd understand she's been misjudging the music all along.. So i put headphones on her and this song on. I doubt we'll be talking ever again.
Not all who say 'lord, lord" will enter the kingdom of heaven God gave man free will. It is his gift. The knowledge of the lord is the free of evil and knowing the dark from the light. To be awake is a gift in itself in a world ruled by blind dogma and fear
I have to admit that the last 4 albums have dissapointed me but so far these songs are impressing me and it's a glorious return to form for Iced Earth. I have been a fan since the early days (no pun intended lol )
He is Jake Dreyer, he was chosen for Jag Panzer before they disbanded so he has to be TOP notch for sure. I saw him with Kobra and the Lotus and he was spot on.
He's certainly better than the previous one, but I still think that Randall Shawver has been the best lead guitarrist Iced Earth has ever had. We still have to listen to the full album though...
This is definitely a vast improvement over Plagues Of Babylon. The production sounds better, Jake Dreyer rips out a wicked solo, Block's vocals sound great and the music is very reminiscent of the Dark Saga/Something Wicked era. I'm looking forward to the next single.
Andrés Tassara it's definitely going to happen, I talked to Jon personally,he was waiting for his studio to be finished and the IE album to be recorded and both those things have happened \m/
I love Matt but I have always loved stu as well. he is a perfect fit for iced earth. I love that he is doing different things vocally on this song. he has a very similar to Matt clean voice but also can do amazing harsh vocals.
Easily the best song on the album. I can’t say I enjoy too much of this album, but good god is this wonderful. This is the kind of shit I wish I heard more of from this band.
Iced Earth....one of the only remaining metal bands that understands the necessity of face-melting guitar solos!

"And I am former Iced Earth vocalist Tim "The Ripper" Owens."

That's soo true man!
Nobody remembers Greely, lol
(Strong Night of the Stormrider vibes here)
@@GMovieSeeker Ripper should've been bigger but it's a shame he only wanted the small time . . .
Block's nothing like either... He's his own man. And nobody can say that they're like Matt Barlow by the way.
@@GMovieSeekerGreely was just as great as any of them. His version of The Path I Choose is forever going to be one of my favorite Iced Earth songs.
Oh hell yeah, letting Stu flex his vocals abit more! Hopefully this is a good sign for the album.
Great lyrics inspired by the book of Revelation!
Regardless of your religious views…the Book of Revelation makes for some great metal.

Been waiting for this band to sound like this again for years. Hope the rest of the album has the same intensity!
underrated band of the century, single handedly keeping metal alive for me
Hey Check out Soilwork, I feel they have the Power too! \m/
Assembly - sure dude you recommend a specific song to start on?
If you think these guys are underrated, you should check out Avatar. Their latest album was fucking awesome :)
I suggest you check out Power Trip, best album I've heard all year
Kyle Le Roux they regularly get hundreds of thousands of views on their videos. They aren't underrated at all.
Yes I am a fan of Matt Barlow but this kicks ass too. Well done Mr. Block.

Scott Destan - Have you not heard Ashes of Ares? Barlows band.
Not only Ashes of Ares but also Sentinels with Barlow and Jonah from Pyramaze :)

As soon as Stu started singing I said in my head "This is the best Stu I've heard in I.E. so far!"
He sounds epic as fuck as does the whole song.
This drumming is RIDICULOUSLY RIDICULOUS in it's RIDICULOUSITY!!!!

Long time fan. This is their best song ever. Did not expect such ferocity. Stu is the best singer they ever had.
I do not know how I still surprise myself with the versatility of Stu Block. Simply amazing.
Finally music and heavy-metal on a biblical level!
I missed that thrashy sound so much.
I want a whole album like this. This sound is classic Iced Earth!
Pretty hard to broadly classify Iced Earth as anything other than metal to be honest, but parts of this song definitely have a trashy vibe as did a lot of their earlier work, so I totally get what op is referring to.

I know, I love that tone. I hear he uses custom made amps called Larry or something.
Any other albums similar albums?
When I first heard this song I thought it was testament.
I really hope Iced Earth does a “Making of” the next album! I would love to see how they do it! Such a great band!
Still going strong. Jon, will you ever cease to amaze me?
I definitely think this is Stu best CD's.From beginning to end Incorruptible is KILLER!! His vocals were SUPERB! He hit some KILLER SCREAMS!
Well this is 3 & a half minutes I definitely don't regret!!!! Holy OLD SCHOOL, sounds wicked, awesome so far boys

One of the three best albuns from 2017 and one of the best metal albuns from the last years
YES! Guitarwork is amazing, bass is great, drums are tight and punchy, and vox are perfectly suited for the song! ICED EARTH IS BACK!!
best song from iced earth imo i love the first verse
This is the first time I've been really excited about an IE album in awhile. Stu Block is a monster.
Love it! Sounds fresh and wicked. Great to see that Iced Earth still have the courage to go new directions
This is the most metal song I've heard come out for a loooong time
Give Havok's new album "Conformicide" a try if you haven't already, or Power Trip's new album "Nightmare Logic".
Love these biblical reference lyrics awesome tune.
One of the best metal albums ever. I have been listening to this for a month!
Classic Iced Earth! Is Back!
can tell this album will kick so much ass
Stu is like leveled up man love the song! 5 of them is really good and I loved the tone of the lead guitar. Can't wait tomorrow for The Raven!
Freakin AWESOME!!!! Ready for the rest of the album!!!!
Awesome. The stormriders return. Long Live Iced Earth.
Phenomenal song/production! The riffs are badass and the drums sound like thunder! Can't wait to hear the whole album!

Even thought this song is nothing we haven't heard from Iced Earth before, I dig it a lot. It just has something man...
Stucifer sounding as savage as Jon will allow? XD
Stanko Madzar No this song is more of their old songs like Burnt Offerings. Darkest and heaviest album of the band and Jon’s least favourite
This, will be the best album of this year, listen that music, man, i got a eargasm
