I love to take the Amtrak "Coast Starlight," from San Francisco (Emeryville) to Seattle, and stay at The Edgewater. Along with being a magnificent hotel, it's a wonderful home-base for walking along the wharf, to attractions and eateries. The walks to; Pike's Market, downtown, the Space Needle, and acres of aquatic parks. My next visit will be the first week in September, which I booked a couple of days ago. The glorious scenery through northern California, Oregon and Washington, makes the "getting there," and "going home," an extra joy. I can't wait.
Just booked a night before my Alaska cruise and I am excited for both.... Told the spouse it is a once in a lifetime type cruise, though pricey as hell as compared to a carribean cruise.
Looks really nice!! I will stay there for 2 nights prior to my Alaska cruise. And my cruise ship will depart from Pier 66 so I think I made the right decision.

I stayed here in ‘80 on my way to Hawaii. If I recall it had a murphy bed. Planning on staying here pre-cruise in Sept ‘22
