      Well judging from the quality and in-depthness of your other videos its a safe assumption that you probably most likely didn't cut any corners with this and gave it your best effort

    they should add a bigger bounty for overwatch.. i mean, i've literally watched like 250+ OW cases and the xp gained is totally garbage, even if i have predicted the accusations.
    they should add a OW pin or badge to know that some players are serious and dont play with cheats

      Totally on your side. I recently really got into watching cases and was happy to clean the community from cheaters.
      But then i just saw the small XP Boost, just to get a shitty skin earlier.
      There should be a badge oder a special gift.

    I know people hate Artifact being a thing and they're completely entitled to that opinion, but in this last few months that Artifact has gotten rolling some more, Valve seems to be doing quite a bit of stuff to improve their games. Honestly if there was just better anti-cheat in Team Fortress 2, I'd be really content right now, compared to the "Fuck Valve and everything they do from now on" mentality I had about 6-8 months ago. I really hope I'm not being lured into a false sense of security and that Valve keeps things up. I'm truthfully scared yet optimistic for what is to come.

      Optimistically scared? Optimistic and scared about what? Valve isn't gonna do anything of importance, at least not in the field of actually making games and fixing their damn platform. So i've no idea what you're optimistic about.

    • @MrBump2
      @MrBump2 6 років тому +1

      I'm scared for if they announce anything like Artifact again because we all know the backlash that it got, so much so that Marc Laidlaw was pushed far enough to release the plot of "Epistle 3". However, Valve seems to be enjoying the progression they've made with Artifact, their first full game in 5 years so they've clearly gotten some spark of passion back. I'm optimistic if Artifact makes them want to make more games, but I'm terrified because they've proven to be incompetent with a lot of specific things in the past.

    That DotA Hero Selection point towards 12:25 is most likely with the creation of their new Dota Plus which has the ability to give recommendations as to what hero you should select in terms of what the enemy team has as their team composition as well as what your team is selecting in order to fill up needed roles/holes. They said that they get all the information for the recommendations of a selection from what other players in the same/approximate ranking (MMR) that you were calibrated at when playing Ranked. Although this does also work for unranked modes. But the AI that is used to give hero recommendations is a learning AI, so perhaps it's what this guy was talking about in the video.

    • @DerMaflon

      I mean, forcing you to be host is kinda using cheats because you can never lag, deserved ban imo. Also trust factor might include existing bans

    • @ItsAlundra
      @ItsAlundra 6 років тому +22

      Can you point out where I said it was undeserved or tried to say I didn't do anything wrong? Since it was p2p connections, some players could not handle hosting the matches and people would lag out, at the time I had a business connection and was 20/20 (Was best at the time in Australia). Everyone had 3-4 bars connection when I did it.
      In hindsight, I can see how it can be abused and why I got a VAC ban for it, it could easily have been abused (Most likely WAS abused as well). So their banning for it was most likely Justified. However, I don't think I should be punished on a game that's not related besides being protected by VAC.

    I like this. I'm happy they're working on it (and not just saying they do), and I'm also happy they're taking a newer approach - even though I thought VAC was very effective back in the 1.6 days, I understand the need for a less invasive, more modern approach to game regulation. I did notice indeed an increase in the rate of actual cheaters in my overwatch games, which BTW makes me remain an investigator (for a while I had the feeling they were wasting players' time just like he said in the conf), and TBH even if it was the only outcome it's already very impressive. I wish they didn't outright abandon the old intrusive method based on signatures, because I feel like they could very easily do a statistical analysis (Bayes just like for overwatch itself) on the list of signatures detected on confirmed cases and add these signatures to the VAC DB, effectively training the automatic methods instead of having us overwatch/ban the same cheats over and over.

    In dota if you buy a monthly subscription for dota plus, the game will help you draft heroes based on win probability which they have machine learning to analyse a lot of matches to see patterns and good combos and counters based on stats to help you. There is also dota assistant which also analyses matches to tell you what items to buy in game based on all matches played with that hero.

    There is this video by Nick bunyun; In the video, he is doing overwatch cases and seeing how many cheaters he comes across. He considers it a bad thing, that he comes across so many cheaters, which is stupid. Why is it bad that actual cheaters are the ones being reviewed, and not the innocent? Overwatch doesn't throw everybody who plays the game at you. I don't think he understood, that overwatch is put in place, so innocents don't get banned.

    • @Joseph-lg7yf

    that 95% conviction rate is an example of bad statistics. because vacnet only submits blatant hackers 95% is actually incredibly low. as for human reported cases, the reason why the conviction rate is so low is partly because we report subtle hacks and also have to report without getting to see the other player's perspective. in other words, report rates to overwatch shouldn't be used as a benchmark for anything cause it is a useless statistic.

    • @Helveteshit
      @Helveteshit 6 років тому +7

      IT is too hard to catch subtle hackers. Hence it doesn't do it. Because you will end up having pro players banned because someone less experienced might think they are subtly hacking for positioning the cross hair properly due knowing the map. But to a less experienced, casual player. That can look like subtle hacks.

    • @nimrodery
      @nimrodery 6 років тому

      Valve should just add replay with a 30 second delay so you can't use it to call out positions. Then humans can report blatant hackers, not just "suspects."

    • @captnmaico6776
      @captnmaico6776 6 років тому +1

      Well depends, even for blatant hacks i would assume the conviction rate for the machine algorithm to be higher, as they dont get tired or troll etc. But yeah, you are right the conviciton rate for blatant hacks should be much higher for humans too and therefore the stat is somewhat missleading
      However as philip points out in his video, this might be fixed in the future with unsupervised deep learning. Sadly the only Ai i currently know capable of that is Alphago Zero from Google. Mabye also IBM and their Watson, as IBM holds the most patents in the deep learning segment. Yet if prices for hardware lower, hardware becomes more powerful and unsupervised deep learning AIs more prominent, then silent aim and other subtile hacks will be elimanated aswell.
      Maybe then Valve already will release a new CSGO or Counterstrike with Battle Royale and Panorama UI , who knows, but cheating will become much more resourcful for people in the future and therefore more unattractive.

    • @mistletoe88
      @mistletoe88 6 років тому

      i'm just pointing out a bad use of statistics. it's like valve is trying to pat itself on the back for something that essentially is still 5% worse than a human. vacnet is still going to be useless until it can achieve nearly 100% certainty on blatant hacks and actually ban them on the spot as this would relieve the burden on overwatch leaving the human based system to only judge more complicated cases.

      I don't think you understand how vac works, It's signature based, It takes known cheats signatures and bans them immediately when they are detected, It does not exactly detect cheats, It has to have that cheats signature in its database to ban the person using it, So it actually works really well for the cheats in their databases, Any signature in the database will be banned pretty much immediately.
