This was a really great high quality video, and a really great time saver. You summarised that entire presentation perfectly without skipping anything important. Thanks philip!
OMG YOU REPLIED! This is amazing, I love you philip! And if by the main one you mean the full presentation then no, I haven't had the time to get into that but I sure will when i get the free time.
Why you gotta do my mans like that
Well judging from the quality and in-depthness of your other videos its a safe assumption that you probably most likely didn't cut any corners with this and gave it your best effort
3kliks has that trust factor, bro. Just trust his information :)
Thanks HCN you summed up what I wanted to say too.
Thank you for the cliff notes dude, really appreciate your work

So basically VACnet in a nutshell:

Has to be a point where goodguys/noncheaters/valve wins
they should add a bigger bounty for overwatch.. i mean, i've literally watched like 250+ OW cases and the xp gained is totally garbage, even if i have predicted the accusations.
they should add a OW pin or badge to know that some players are serious and dont play with cheats
OW item rewards would be a really good idea.
But then remember that they don't care about increased participation right now, because it doesn't do anything.
Totally on your side. I recently really got into watching cases and was happy to clean the community from cheaters.
But then i just saw the small XP Boost, just to get a shitty skin earlier.
There should be a badge oder a special gift.
They should have different badges and levels for people that combat cheating.
can we get more likes for this wonderful idea??

If you're Philips patron on Patreon you can watch them two days earlier
Because video has been posted therefore comment section is open and people may have seen original video?
Dread Lord I would agree with that but most of the replies are low-effort and don't really add to the discussion.
"If you're Philips patron on Patreon you can watch them two days earlier"
I feel like Trust factor is working, i am getting friendly teammates and my last (obvious) cheater was 17 games ago.
Yeah, it's even been working just fine for people like me, who are toxic in chat, and accidentally do damage to team-mates. I'm really happy with how Valve has gone into solving this issue, I might get back into CSGO again.
It worked wonders when it just came out. I was getting nice teammates left and right, almost every game. Then after that it just got back to the normal toxicity level.
no all the toxic players moved to battle royale games
really. I meet cheaters in every 5 games.

they not using aim cheat. but walling. cause they knew it was harder to detect
Working nah. I only get teamed up with russians who cant speak english and toxic retards with 3000 hours and only dmg.

At 2:14 a.m., EDT, on August 29 2018, it gained artificial consciousness, and the panicking operators, realizing the full extent of its capabilities, tried to deactivate it. VACnet perceived this as an attack....
Mrfishvac Gaben is trying to take over the world
Gaben heard shouts from downstairs. It then went silent. He went down, and found all the maintenance operators dead. He looked around, and saw the intelligence warning systems active. It had outstripped human intelligence. He breathed in slowly, and said: "Ahhh shit".

This kind of explanatory content is fantastic! Restores some of my faith in Valve :)
I watched the speech before I saw you had posted this. Love your videos and an amazing job
I know people hate Artifact being a thing and they're completely entitled to that opinion, but in this last few months that Artifact has gotten rolling some more, Valve seems to be doing quite a bit of stuff to improve their games. Honestly if there was just better anti-cheat in Team Fortress 2, I'd be really content right now, compared to the "Fuck Valve and everything they do from now on" mentality I had about 6-8 months ago. I really hope I'm not being lured into a false sense of security and that Valve keeps things up. I'm truthfully scared yet optimistic for what is to come.
I'm scared for what is to come because of your profile picture
Optimistically scared? Optimistic and scared about what? Valve isn't gonna do anything of importance, at least not in the field of actually making games and fixing their damn platform. So i've no idea what you're optimistic about.
I'm scared for if they announce anything like Artifact again because we all know the backlash that it got, so much so that Marc Laidlaw was pushed far enough to release the plot of "Epistle 3". However, Valve seems to be enjoying the progression they've made with Artifact, their first full game in 5 years so they've clearly gotten some spark of passion back. I'm optimistic if Artifact makes them want to make more games, but I'm terrified because they've proven to be incompetent with a lot of specific things in the past.
Unknow0059 # Actually Gaben himself did say that they're coming back to launch some games, search ir up

That DotA Hero Selection point towards 12:25 is most likely with the creation of their new Dota Plus which has the ability to give recommendations as to what hero you should select in terms of what the enemy team has as their team composition as well as what your team is selecting in order to fill up needed roles/holes. They said that they get all the information for the recommendations of a selection from what other players in the same/approximate ranking (MMR) that you were calibrated at when playing Ranked. Although this does also work for unranked modes. But the AI that is used to give hero recommendations is a learning AI, so perhaps it's what this guy was talking about in the video.
Great video! Keep up the good work man
i understand why they hide the trustfactor status but i still think it would be nice if we could see our own trust factor for example as a colour which goes darker when our trust factor reduces
(similar to the psycho pass if you know what i mean)
Then somebody could figure how trust factor works and make trust factor boosting service.
TF2 got a major update, CSGO has a new anti cheat mechanic. God is alive, guys
still no half life 3. checkmate christians
hunt down the freeman is a shitty game and the new anti cheat will probably be bypassed by any aimware user. There is no hope for us, we trusted valve, we bought their cases and key, now they let us down.

I have a vac ban for MW2 when I used a program that forced me to be host, I tried playing CS:GO with a friend in the 2v2 matches and out of 10 games, 7 had blatent spinbots. After that and learning more about the trust factor, it seems that my ban MW2 is affecting it which sucks.
Hoping after some time if I keep going without any issues I stop being placed with cheaters.
I have about 1k hours in CS:GO and 1 GameBan on record. ~450days ago. I don't have the feeling to get frequently matched with cheaters. Maybe GameBans don't count.
I only have 200 hours in CS:GO, so that might play a part in it.
Good possible to be a reason. If the system was implemented from a sane person you should be able to cure prior convictions related to other games when playing unsuspicious for a long time in CS:GO.
I mean, forcing you to be host is kinda using cheats because you can never lag, deserved ban imo. Also trust factor might include existing bans
Can you point out where I said it was undeserved or tried to say I didn't do anything wrong? Since it was p2p connections, some players could not handle hosting the matches and people would lag out, at the time I had a business connection and was 20/20 (Was best at the time in Australia). Everyone had 3-4 bars connection when I did it.
In hindsight, I can see how it can be abused and why I got a VAC ban for it, it could easily have been abused (Most likely WAS abused as well). So their banning for it was most likely Justified. However, I don't think I should be punished on a game that's not related besides being protected by VAC.
Now it's not Valve Allow Cheats now, now it's actually Valve Anti Cheat. Good job,Valve
Mirza Ninja sad news is paid cheat makers will bypass these sooner or later. good news is we have a window of 'less cheated' environment to rank up which we truely deserved and couldn't climb due to hax0rs
"sooner or later" as in right now. It was already speculated in the video vacnet only catches the 'obvious' ones. I'm sure you can still get away with 'legit hacking'.
Element Finland what do you mean by legit hacking. You mean the ones that are obvious or just toggled due to rage
Sukalyan Majumdar well, i guess its Valve Anti-Allow Cheat(VAAC)
Search legit hacking on UA-cam, for instance. It's people who are too bad at the game to be good so they use cheats just enough to seem at least decent.
Valve was onto something before everybody else was waffling about AI. One day cs2's trust factor system will be an industrial standard for sure
trust factor barely even works in cs2
Now this is why I'll never unsub from this channel. If you play cs:go this is THE channel to get info on everything cs:go
I'm happy that in the last few days I've seen 6 Vac Bans on TF2.

I like this. I'm happy they're working on it (and not just saying they do), and I'm also happy they're taking a newer approach - even though I thought VAC was very effective back in the 1.6 days, I understand the need for a less invasive, more modern approach to game regulation. I did notice indeed an increase in the rate of actual cheaters in my overwatch games, which BTW makes me remain an investigator (for a while I had the feeling they were wasting players' time just like he said in the conf), and TBH even if it was the only outcome it's already very impressive. I wish they didn't outright abandon the old intrusive method based on signatures, because I feel like they could very easily do a statistical analysis (Bayes just like for overwatch itself) on the list of signatures detected on confirmed cases and add these signatures to the VAC DB, effectively training the automatic methods instead of having us overwatch/ban the same cheats over and over.

Brilliant video, as always.
Hey philip do you know how they get to their numbers in the %cheaters chart? I'm confused how they arrive at 4% -> 7/20 and 5% -> 6/10 the edges of the chart make sense however I'm not sure if it is just a rounding issue on their part or there is something im missing in understanding the graph! Thanks for the informative videos I love watching them!
Meanwhile VAC in TF2 is nonexistant
"Those 13 people that play TF2 deserve free updates too guis :(("
BaconBurgers it's still quite popular in the top 10 steam multiplayer games you do know that right?
Yeah I have 2.7k hours. I tried to play it again and it's trash.
BaconBurgers I mean shit I was just being silly in the first place. I don't really give a shit about VAC because you can just leave a match anyways and tf2 isn't a serious game unlike csgo.
But what I'm saying is that there's still a considerably large playerbase.
ive been banned in tf2 so id disagree
Call me daddy philip, I already call you
In dota if you buy a monthly subscription for dota plus, the game will help you draft heroes based on win probability which they have machine learning to analyse a lot of matches to see patterns and good combos and counters based on stats to help you. There is also dota assistant which also analyses matches to tell you what items to buy in game based on all matches played with that hero.
It would be nice to have matching tickrates in the demos. That would make it alot harder to hide low fov cheats

They should give a badge for every x number of successful overwatch review
what about a "Stattrak" badge that showed exactly how many after you reach a certain amount like 50 to make it a bit exclusive and sought after.
The White Knight cheaters will do overwatches to get the badge and look legit
do you really think they would invest the hours into an account that would likely get overwatch banned anyway?

Thank you for giving us a brief summary. I am really looking forward to the future of cheating - in CS:GO.
Deep Learning is such an amazing concept. I don't know how to program anything but the concept is exactly like evolution, which i'm keen off because I'm a biologist. It's incredible, you select the best results based on your preferred data(that is made by natural forces in the wild) and watch they perfect the best and most specialized tasks that you could never dream off.
There is this video by Nick bunyun; In the video, he is doing overwatch cases and seeing how many cheaters he comes across. He considers it a bad thing, that he comes across so many cheaters, which is stupid. Why is it bad that actual cheaters are the ones being reviewed, and not the innocent? Overwatch doesn't throw everybody who plays the game at you. I don't think he understood, that overwatch is put in place, so innocents don't get banned.
Zacolian maybe he said that because overwatch used to review alot of innocent people so when he saw that the cheaters % in overwatch increased he thought the cheaters also increased. Not his fault though i thought that too.
Or he just simply means that it is sad that there are so many cheaters
Wait for summer sale it will show its result😢
😢
The deep learning in terms of Dota's hero selection is supposed to determine what the best hero to pick during certain scenarios are.
this video really took great amount of work i appreiciate that
we are in 2020 and Valve still has no AI, it all relies on overwatch and still doesnt work
We need an effective AutoVAC by assistance of the VACnet, even if Its not perfect! I prefer my 1K account get the false positive AutoVAC ban but don't have to play with cheaters every time I play CS:GO!
"Sometimes we make mistakes, We rectify them clearly and immediately"
You mean just like you're denied SuperBunnyHop's appeal for a VAC ban on a singleplayer HL1 game for using shader mods?
Salad-in i know its late, but vac ban cant be remove even by employees.
@@superknightlol Vac bans can definitely be removed.
There are loads of video's on youtube and threads on reddit (I'm leaving out reviews and threads on steam because some have been removed and others either have the links from screenshots removed or images posted removed) of Vac bans being removed.
VAC isn't 100% without mistakes i'd say it's closer to 90-94% which is way too low for such a garbage anticheat that lets everyone do whatever as long as 20 out of 30 humans dont think hes cheating without a reasonable doubt.
Falonthorne i think what you meant is griefing ban. its possible to remove those. VAC arent that bad battleEye are way worse and ive seen more hacker in ubisoft game than csgo.
@@superknightlol No, VAC bans.
cheating bans.
I love your videos. This was one of the best in my opinion.
Interesting. Thanks for posting this. Feels like there might be hope just yet. The stats about 7% population of cheaters means 50% of games have a cheater was pretty interesting. And pretty much confirms everyone's suspicion that there's pretty much a cheater in every game.
It's sucks when you play very well in a particular game and the opposing team reports you, and after that match you que for another match and then facing real cheaters.... :/
Having this problem since the trust factor was announced Btw... 😅
that is true. the trust factor is pretty shit rn tbh, so id rather go on prime matchmaking until they fix the trust factor
u guys dont understand trust factor is in both prime and non prime matches, if u select exclusive search for prime only u will only get players with level20+ but it still uses trust factor
Well in my case I always use the Trust Factor matchmaking since it launched, at the first couple week I thought "meh.. Its alright the system still need a lot of data", but now (if I'm not wrong after 6-8 months the system launched) still getting some issues..
Agreed
that 95% conviction rate is an example of bad statistics. because vacnet only submits blatant hackers 95% is actually incredibly low. as for human reported cases, the reason why the conviction rate is so low is partly because we report subtle hacks and also have to report without getting to see the other player's perspective. in other words, report rates to overwatch shouldn't be used as a benchmark for anything cause it is a useless statistic.
IT is too hard to catch subtle hackers. Hence it doesn't do it. Because you will end up having pro players banned because someone less experienced might think they are subtly hacking for positioning the cross hair properly due knowing the map. But to a less experienced, casual player. That can look like subtle hacks.
Valve should just add replay with a 30 second delay so you can't use it to call out positions. Then humans can report blatant hackers, not just "suspects."
Well depends, even for blatant hacks i would assume the conviction rate for the machine algorithm to be higher, as they dont get tired or troll etc. But yeah, you are right the conviciton rate for blatant hacks should be much higher for humans too and therefore the stat is somewhat missleading
However as philip points out in his video, this might be fixed in the future with unsupervised deep learning. Sadly the only Ai i currently know capable of that is Alphago Zero from Google. Mabye also IBM and their Watson, as IBM holds the most patents in the deep learning segment. Yet if prices for hardware lower, hardware becomes more powerful and unsupervised deep learning AIs more prominent, then silent aim and other subtile hacks will be elimanated aswell.
Maybe then Valve already will release a new CSGO or Counterstrike with Battle Royale and Panorama UI , who knows, but cheating will become much more resourcful for people in the future and therefore more unattractive.
i'm just pointing out a bad use of statistics. it's like valve is trying to pat itself on the back for something that essentially is still 5% worse than a human. vacnet is still going to be useless until it can achieve nearly 100% certainty on blatant hacks and actually ban them on the spot as this would relieve the burden on overwatch leaving the human based system to only judge more complicated cases.
"95% is actually incredibly low"

Thanks for this video! So informative!
Well DotA's hero selection assist from DotA Plus could use more refinement in some areas but generally it's pretty good
I really don't understand why wouldn't valve upgrade CSGO into source 2 engine,it happened to dota 2, and that game just became better and better (except the toxicity ofc)
nikimaruu valve are making enough profits from their store they gave up on their games except dota because dota gives them little bit more money in cookie jar probably to pay their employees 😂
Changing the engine with change the whole feel and movement of the player. It'll break the game
I suspect they might release a new CS on that engine rather than updating it. I mean, Counter-strike is the only game with more than 3 expansions/re-iterations. Dota2 is ... too close to 3. TF2, the same.
Helveteshit No it wouldn't make sense, some skins cost a lot and they would become useless. It would just be Counter strike: 1.6 and Source all over again. The community would split up.
Sukhman, then it's time for a whole new CS game. No point in porting CS:GO over. It's over 6 years old now (including the BETA) after all.
Great
endless love for the arrested development cut
very interesting! did they mention anything about scammers in the community who spam your account with comments and friend requests?
But the old VAC doesn't work. Trust me, I've played TF2.
Well, the system was focused on CS:GO. The VAC works like it should... but it can't accurately tell A from B still that aren't utterly blatant.
Plus, TF2 is fairly outdated. And Valve doesn't like the number 3.
It's signature based and works as intended.
It actually works quite well when it gets feed with new info. Only problem is that they can just create a new account.
it works terrible. anyone can make a paste for free and if they are not retarded never get banned
I don't think you understand how vac works, It's signature based, It takes known cheats signatures and bans them immediately when they are detected, It does not exactly detect cheats, It has to have that cheats signature in its database to ban the person using it, So it actually works really well for the cheats in their databases, Any signature in the database will be banned pretty much immediately.
Probably the "Premium" Cheats
are gonna get updated to not get detected
Also what's about the 'legit' hackers that for example don't use
Aimbot or only an assisting aimbot (30-40% smoothness and a very low fov)?
Lord Fr3ze would probably be more less undetectable
(If the hacker is intelligent enough to use it correctly :p)
Wow, ive actually not known about all the crazy deep lerning stuff going on for 2 jears now!
Looking forward to getting overwatch!
good video phillip but whats your opinion on cheating in singleplayer games?
Beep beep
How the hell did you get 12 likes just by saying ONE word twice?
Lettuce
BOOP BOOP
TITTIES
But Philip, of course I'm going to report a player while in a game, if I wait, analyze his point of view and get to the point that I'm sure he's cheating, I can't anymore report him by csgo, instead, I'll have to report him in his profile, directly to vac, what in most cases don't do nothing to the most obvious cheaters
A year later, now you can!
damn dude your videos are basically quality + quantity, thanks philip youre a bro
I haven't done an overwatch case for years now. I didn't know they were actually that useful. Thanks Phillip i'll start overwatching again
