As silly as it might seem to some, we all haven't been riding and working on bikes for years. there's always beginners and I've gotten this request a few dozen times, so if this can at least help 1 person It's worth my while. Thanks for watching. =)
Great video. A new razor blade took the old grips off in seconds. I sprayed a little hairspray inside the grip. It slid right on and an hour later was nice and tight. This was an easy job.
Spent 1/2 hour forcing / rolling the grips outwards, putting the grips in hot water as per the bike seller and tried etc, nothing worked. after watching your video, I asked my daughter whether she has any hair spray. NO. I thought of some alternative and just tried perfume (which will have alcohol content, which will lubricate at that moment but evaporate eventually). It worked like a dream. Awesome man. BINGO !!!!! I did not put as much of effort as you have done in your video. Thanks once again man.
Nice video, thanks for posting up. It’s nice when someone just gets to the point and has a good clear video. Your little laugh when you were talking about hole sizes had me laughing out loud lol. Of course, that was my first thought as well.😅
I have Tried many things to make the grips stick on but the best I have used is Isopropyl alcohol. Wet the bar really good with alcohol and push the grip on. It will dry in minutes and the grip will not twist on the bar. Just a tip I thought was worth sharing.
@@Bacender The stickiest thing between a bar and the grip is natural suction. Once the alcohol dries it's as if you got the grip on by just shoving it on.
I used hair spray for my grips on my old R6. I used too much on the throttle side, I had a ghetto cruise control for a couple weeks from the spray getting into where it shouldn't have been XD
Hi salt the wound , a tip for next time the way i learned to take off a grip is get your air compressor , which every rider should have , connect a ball needle attachment , then put the needle inside the grip and then shoot air into the grip tube while you pull and comes out in 5 seconds :) way better , cleaner , and easier then your way :)
champ48213 obviously you are not an experienced rider. because every person who owns a dirt bike or motorcycle should have a air compressor . If you get a flat tire how do you change it ? I fix everything my self just like most riders but i do understand if you are a new rider . Not to have a air compressor
+IT2W Moto Yeah the air compressor works well! Although not everyone has access to them, I basically made this for a quick and easy way most people can change them out. Thanks for watching :)
im having trouble getting my left bar end to screw back in. throttle side went on and off without a problem.. any ideas how to get my bar end to screw back in??
I’ve been using an air compressor for years on my grips and never had one issue with really soft grips, the other grips I have fitted didn’t need grip glue at all
Thanks for the video 👍 My Trouble is that the Bolt on end cap just keeps spinning I'm not sure if I'm doin it right or if there's a piece inside the handle bar that's loose .....I have 03 gsxr 1000
HELP!!? HOW WOULD I REPLACE MY HOUSING UNIT?? COULD I USE AN AFTERMARKET ONE OR WHAT WOULD I HAVE TO REPLACE. I NEED NEW GRIPS, HOUSING UNIT CLUTCH LEVERS AND CABLES LEFT AND RIGHT
salty!! help me before i go crazy. just bought a new leftover 2013 n1k. gonna pick it up in st louis on march 5. i bought this bike partly cause your videos and it seemed like a natural progression grin the 650. how on Gods name are you supposed to break in the engine? hard and fast? manufacture procedures? there's all kinds of contradictions all over the internet. i got an awesome deal at 7k but I'd rather not throw it in a pile and burn it up. did i miss a video when you broke yours in?
+Ralph Bundersnatch Don't over think it bro. I followed the manufacturers guide, don't gun it too much the first 1,000 miles and you'll be good. I keep mine below 6k the first 1000 miles and I'm now at 26,000+ and I haven't had a single issue with this bike. all I've done is new tires and chain and sprockets. Everything else is still performing flawlessly. I'll do a video on this soon :)
Rubber cement is the only thing I can get to make a good bond, I swear by it. Might have something to do with them being heated grips lol. What levers are you running?
you forgot the wire mod though. i always used a very small amount of dish soap and just water. then wire mod it. and ya razor blade is best way to take them off.
alcohol is much better than hairspray. The easiest way to get grips on and off is with an air compressor and a blow gun. No chemicals necessary and it works in seconds.

I was hopping to see the other side. I also spray the bar itself, get it nice and wet. Annoying to get it half way on and it gets stuck.
I'm a newbie and this helped me a lot. Thanks.
Awesome video dude. Thank you for keeping it simple and speeding up the video when unscrewing the bolts. Drives me crazy when people don't do that.

Almost every video shows installation on the clutch side. Easy enough. How about the throttle side?
They avoid it.
Pk Lehota exactly!
Have u seen any video showing the throttle side?! Because that’s what I’m looking for

@@MattJFilms That's very interesting. Thanks!
1:32-1:50 felt amazing thanks
Dude perfect video! I am installing new grips now and it was tight. I like the hair spray idea instead of using grip glue. 👍
I used hair spray for my grips on my old R6. I used too much on the throttle side, I had a ghetto cruise control for a couple weeks from the spray getting into where it shouldn't have been XD
Thanks man. Doing this today when I get my new Renthals.
Dude... The way you handle that bar end......... so many puns haha 😅😅
if you twist the throttle shaft and cup the bar end in your hand it slips righttt in 😉👉👌😂😂
I was saying the same 😂😂😂
I just bought these exact grips for my fz07. I love the hairspray idea. Thanks
I gotta share this video to some people and tell them to listen to it without actualy watching the video. So hilarious! Nice tutorial nonetheless ;)

Chris Matti a lot of guys don't have compressors

Chris Matti lol ok definitely wasn't referring to myself but ok, was just sharing OBVIOUS info to you via general public
Hmm would stock grips come off that easily? I’m wondering if they are glued on and would need heat to loosen the glue.
I usually use an air compressor or canned air, works amazingly!
+IT2W Moto Yeah the air compressor works well! Although not everyone has access to them, I basically made this for a quick and easy way most people can change them out. Thanks for watching :)
True!
How can I remove the grip glue?
im having trouble getting my left bar end to screw back in. throttle side went on and off without a problem.. any ideas how to get my bar end to screw back in??
Gave the hairspray a try, didn't work for mine. I used pump not aerosol, maybe that's the difference?
I’ve been using an air compressor for years on my grips and never had one issue with really soft grips, the other grips I have fitted didn’t need grip glue at all
air compressor? huh lol how?

What spray can is that? Couldn't quite hear it in the video
this helped cause i needed to put new hand grips on my bike as i crashed it and the grip on one side broke (throttle side) thanks for the help
What hair spray did u use
Hair spray was a great tip, thank you.
HELP!!? HOW WOULD I REPLACE MY HOUSING UNIT?? COULD I USE AN AFTERMARKET ONE OR WHAT WOULD I HAVE TO REPLACE. I NEED NEW GRIPS, HOUSING UNIT CLUTCH LEVERS AND CABLES LEFT AND RIGHT
You laughed when you said “bigger hole” haha... hahaha... hahahahaha!
can I use bug spray? cooking oil? butter?
Dany XV nigga what
What levers are these?
Thanks man it worked perfectly I appreciate it ,,👍
Good video man. Helpful to us noobs.
Love your videos man keep em coming whooooo
Why didn't you do the throttle side ?
I just wanted to show the easiest way to do them. Throttle side is exactly the same :)
I just bought and replaced my grips and I have the exact same ones. How often do you find yourself replacing them?
Hairspray worked a treat
Where did you get the bar in Adapters at
What key did you use to remove the bar end?
Whats to do if i hafe Metal Grips ?
never use them, they are impossible to get off the bike when you need to replace them. I had to cut them off with a dremel.
Weld them...haha
dude... never thought to use hair spray... great idea
Always good stuff helping on this Channel !!!
;)
Well Done
Salt the wound was a decent hardcore band
thanks man i have the pro grip 719s im about to install.
Why didn't you do THE THROTTLE Side ?!?!?
Nice Video Man!
What kind of hair spray is that?
Thank you

Hello! What liquid did you use?
George Asik Try isopropyl alcohol. Many people say it’s better. that’s what I will try👍🏻
what kind spray did you put on your hand grip ?
Thanks. Worked perfectly!!!
Glad it helped
thank you! this helped me a lot
Does anyone have a video for a 2013 cbr 1000rr
I just about busted my 2010 zx6r trying to get those same grips on the bars, jesus... but they just wouldn't push on!
Thanks helped me a lot :)
I prefer compressed air to get it off and plain old fashioned rubber cement to set it on.
I have only done this on a pedal bike. Guess I was doing it right!
Rubber cement is the only thing I can get to make a good bond, I swear by it. Might have something to do with them being heated grips lol. What levers are you running?

Cool video! I like it
Thanks!
Why don’t you show the throttle side
It helped thanks 👊🏻
what levers do you have? I hate mine and don't wanna get another pair of aftermarket ones I hate
I have had Pazzo Racing levers in the past that I liked, but CRG levers are my favorite levers on my Yamaha R1.
My hand grips has aluminum on both sides
I love progrip
You sure seem to enjoy stoking that left handlebar. lol

I am grateful he took the time to do this, smart guy. Try saying something nice or just stfu.
Unfortunately not everyone has air compressors at home.
ive seen that same graffiti here in orlando
Throttle side bruh?
I was out of videos to watch on pornhub so I came here to watch you handle those big holes and bars LOL
Yea lubing the hole is very important before you stick it in 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂lmfao
A few yrs late but thank you
Hearspray?? Thank you!!!!
Yes! Thank you!
Thanks
No problem
Thank youuuiuuuuu!! 👍
Guess my grips are going thru menopause... dry as a bone
I would disagree that "most people have bar-ends"...not that common, on the whole.
He meant bar ends, as in the weighted metal ends on every street bike. Not bar-end mirrors.
been using a airgun with nozzle for years beats all this crap
next time try with hot water
One side wtf??
Fuck a razor blade and glue! WTF?!?
Alcohol is the best option, not hair spray!
I just use zip ties
So don't do the most important side 🤦
Yeah I see you did the easy side why don't you make a video about the hard side😅😅😅
It’s exactly the same, just slice it at the bottom with a razor and make sure the grips slides fully onto the throttle tube and that’s it 👍🏻
@@SALTxTHExWOUND thank you I think people are afraid of hurting the throttle
