      Yes, double respect, honor and great blessings to those of your family who gave their lives and for those who returned, God bless them as we all shall one day meet again with hugs and gratitude beyond our understanding. WE shall have tears of great joy. Much to look forward to. God is Good. Now we have a fight on our soil in America which is good vs evil. May we stand with truth and strength of prayer, may we choose our true leaders who honor God. Hugs. Navajo Grandma

    I'm sitting here in tears once again. What a beautiful tribute to your Father and to all the Navajo who served. It's my understanding that all the Code Talkers have been buried in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. That's where my Daddy is. He would be so honored to know he is resting with Marine Code Talkers who served in WWII. I've always felt a connection to you, but even moreso now that I watched this. 😢❤
    This day use to be know as Decoration Day because everyone would go decorate the graves of fallen soldiers and family members. And although people still do this, the day/weekend has become a "fun" time to go camping and fishing and have BBQs and party. And that's ok, but we do need to remember...thank you for helping us remember the sacrifice made by The Few, The Proud, The Marines!🇺🇸

      No greater honor can one give but to lay your life down for another. Many did and many returned. Honor is their name and many still suffer from the cause and effects. May we help them and ask for help for them as our government seems to have a blind eye. WE honor those who fight for our freedoms no matter what land we live on. Such good souls we needed in this time but lie in these cemeteries, we shall know them again. They are not gone, they walk among us and inspire their families and still care for them. Good men and women. Hugs to all. Honor!!! Navajo Grandma

    Thank you Grandma for sharing about your dad, grandfather and your brothers. Our country probably wouldn't be what it is today if it wasn't for your father and his fellow Navajo Code Talkers. I had 3 uncles that served in WW2. One of the them was in the 3rd wave of D Day. Was a driver of the famous Red Ball Highway. He never talked about the war until Saving Private Ryan. Both my dad and stepdad served in the Korean wAr.

    Glad your brother didn't have to go, my uncle did and came back in a box with a note from a "grateful nation". He was my grandparents first son after 5 daughters.
    I had my draft card when the war ended, there were many of my older class mates who had been called up some never came physically or mentally
    Vaya Con Dios to all who paid the ultimate price , may the others find peace

      Its a humbling day. Remembering should bring humility but I don't believe this government we have now knows zero humility, reverence but just with a play of words. Pray always. Such respect for those who went and never returned, but are with God. Those who returned did return maimed and may we always stand to show our respect when we are in their presence. • @NavajoGrandma
      @NavajoGrandma  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes my dear Tarrie. He was and he went through a lot as also those who fought for our freedoms. My grandfather stood before the Government as well stating the needs and trials of his people as he stated, "we sent our boys to fight for this land for this country that belongs to all of us, the lands you took from us, and our boys died and some of their bodies have never been returned and still land in foreign lands! Why are you not hearing our call for your help?" My grandfather understood war as well and due to this my father stood in front of the military board and demanded they take him instead of his son. He shared many experiences and he went prayerfully and he won. I honor my father. There are many heroic actions our fathers and male family members performed that we know not of, but they were honorable and heroes. What great Honors. The CHIEFTANS I am sure welcomed them into the spirit world with open arms and blessed them with gratitude as they too were our great Native American Warriors. So few honorable men now. Its time for the HONORABLE WOMEN to stand, its our turn to stand for truth, for all that is Godly and for what our CHIEFTANS DIED FOR AND FOUGHT FOR. We are the ones chosen for this day. You are one of those great granddaughters. I pray for you and pray you will take your place. Hugs from Navajo Grandma

      So many did give their lives & seeing such disrespect even in elementary schools where parents teach their kindergarteners to refuse to salute, or refuse to place their hands over their heart, or shout out awful words when asked to stand. Parents are at fault. One student said when I did a 3rd grader Navajo presentation. "You are so lucky cuz u r not forced to salute that rag flying on poles, you know the red, white & blue. I retorted, my dad, my gpa as Navajo Indians fought for our freedoms & yours, that flag you call a rag stands for all who died & fought for your right to go to school to learn, to watch cartoons, to play without fear etc. This child said I am told to hate America by my pare6, no one has ever said this to me. Thank you. I will remember our chat the rest of my life. Then this little one stood with hand to heart with a smile. Afterwards said, that felt so good!! Hugs. Navajo Grandma

      Thank you again Cyndi. It is a life that my father gave & many may disagree that my dad shielded my brothers but for good reason. It was accepted & honored. Usually it was a dumb Indian during that phase in life, but I feel the Holy Ones blessed this recruiting office and my fathers deep concern as he himself was willing to take his sons place. Tho daddy was older he was a perfect shot and as a gunnar he did take many lives and this was hard even in the Army. Even as he prayed he was directed & protected which means to me he did what was required. I pray all men who fought are healed now & always. My prayer. Navajo Grandma

    My grandfather who was Pueblo, served as a signalman in the Navy during WWII. He lived on the reservation in NM and enlisted as soon as possible. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific arena. He used to write letters to my mother from Guam and other islands. When he came back, he was never the same. He used to come to see her only once a year but stayed secluded. He never got to know all his grandkids. It was sad because he drank himself to death. War did that to many people.

    • @NavajoGrandma
      @NavajoGrandma  8 місяців тому +1

      Rose, this is sadly true. So many are still in that same place as well. None of us can imagine how horrific it was. Bravery, courage doesn't cut it, but one person does and it is God. Even those who suffer at times can't comprehend a God due to what they went thru, but some finally do. We need to pray for those who are still suffering. The Gov't doesn't care for them as they are the first to receive their care. That is what I loved about President Trump: He put these men first, he announced over and over, that they are to be cared for, that they deserved the money and care in every way. It was being done, buildings were erected then Biden struck it all down. Such a difference between administrations you can cut it with a knife. May we choose the right person to lead our Sacred Country, to be prayerful and not be led astray with the false media blaring daily of lies. Please everyone, pray, hear truth thru God, choose daily to strengthen yourselves to stand for what is right. I heard a group the other day, sorry as I was driving and listening to a radio talk show. In that a piece was played of this group saying "stand for what is right, stand with God, Pray, no matter what the evil administration says, stand for all we need to even if it takes being fired from our jobs, yelled at and more, we need to make a stand for America, choosing our leader, remembering God and this sacred land we live on..etc." I was so strengthened by what I heard and it filled me with hope. May we give others hope, we may suffer but it is like these military men who gave their lives, we need to take our stand on this soil. The fight is here spiritually, secularly, mentally, psychologically and in more ways, "we can win this." Otherwise we shall become incarcerated by evil by greed, power and control. Pray always. Hi Navajo Grandma, thanks for sharing this. At first, I did not understand why many American Indian tribal members would enlist in the US army since it the US government who was responsible for the many atrocities done to the their ancestors. However, it appears that they enlisted in the military because they want to protect their homelands and honor their warrior culture. Indigenous languages were so useful that it was used a secret code during the wars.

    Youre up early grandma, or should i say late? Either way Aho. Thank you for posting on such an important day. Many of us could never forget, still to this day jumpers shout Geronimo starting then. Japanese would cry Bonzia and die. This time our battle has already been fought and won for us, though it seems a losing battle, we still prevail without even being the aggresors. The tides have turned, so now the ships sail to us.
    All gave some, some gave all.

I look to the CHIEFTANS when they fasted, prayed, pleaded for God to help them through. Now it is up to use to WIN for them as they never did lose, they win in us. Amen. Navajo Grandma

      Goodness sakes I am moved by what you wrote. What a beautiful lineage and your ancestors too fought as well as other tribal members. Why they don't really mention these tribes as Code Talkers makes me wonder. I never knew there were other tribes involved. That is what happens. As I represented my Father as a Code Talker, I learned so much. We had a celebration yearly and at times other tribes come and join. I was so moved upon and THAT IS WHY WE, AS NATIVE AMERICANS NEED TO TELL OUR STORY AND STOP HAVING STORY BOOKS DO IT. WE NEED OUR VOICES HEARD. Thank you so much. Great comment. Thank you so much Grandma for sharing this! I think about the Code Talkers quite a bit during the year and especially on Memorial Day. Had it not been for them, there is no telling what could have become OF the USA. I have visited the Cemetery near Window Rock several times. I've never seen anything like it. The cribs, teddy bears, and other memorabilia out there are so moving and special. I know there are stories behind every one of them. I just stood there in awe. Thank you again. There is nothing "happy" about Memorial Day.

      Some celebrate their freedoms with family, some express humility, some are prayerful to God, some demonize our Sacred Country, some have tears at the sight of their American Flag or Memorial statues, some are listening to President Ronald Reagan who shared some powerful courageous emotional strength in being humble and grateful for what the military did for each and everyone of us. Back then there were those who defiled the flag, burned, stomped on it and more and President Reagans disdain was rightly so. He even mentioned these same disdainers aught to be sent to 3rd world countries and see their response when they return to American soil. I too have suggested that to President Clinton one day, he just smurked it off. I pray we never smurk off our Sacred God Given Country. My we place our hands on our hearts and swallow the lump in our throats or wipe our tears for those who gave their lives and fought and returning for some to deaf ears and sufferings. May we respect all of humanity not just today but always. We need to prepare for whats coming. It is now a war between Good and Evil. Here on this land May we win. Pray always. Navajo Grandma

It's painful to see their problems too. As parents we try to save them but they have to learn. Not always easy. But that emptiness you feel I can only say, you are a good dad. Your love is felt by your son in the spirit world. He in turn watches over you as you are his earthly father. It works both ways. The timing of his leaving seems unfair, hard as he sounds like he had PTSD as well. But, but he is happy. He is well. He misses you so much too. Again, tho he went before you, he is now watching over you. God's Plan no matter how painful always comes as a blessing. Continue to miss him. Pray for him. Pray for yourself. Remain a loving soul & spirit. You still have grandchildren I am sure, you are still needed. That's wonderful. Thank you for sharing your heart. Many have gone thru what you have. Dearest grandma, I wish you a happy memorial day. But is it really happy? It is a day to remember the lives and death of war and peac÷ that needs to prevail instead. I pray for peace on earth. Can we turn away from the blood lost and back and for fighting? I hold a vision that hearts can change and one day we can all be civil at least. What has to happen to try love first, what will bring peace. Killing will just keep killing. I pray for our leaders and for the soldiers. I pray that one day we will all be one in love. Maybe I'm naive and a dreamer. But war just keeps breeding war. If all hearts don't change, then peace will never happen. I am grateful for the soldiers who gave their lives in the wars they were in. It's just such a loss. Because of powers and hates. I am sorry for the lost lives. I pray for all hearts to become good. May peace fill all hearts on earth today. Much love and peace! Ruth 💖 💖 💖 💖

      I love that you said this, so Navajo Grandma is defining this for those who don't know and will read why you said this. Thank you so much!!!
      "Semper Fi" is a shortened version of the Latin phrase semper fidelis, which means "always faithful" or "always loyal". It has been the motto of the United States Marine Corps since 1883, and embodies the Corps' values of honor, courage, and commitment. Marines use the phrase as a greeting, a cheer, or a call, and some say it's a way of life that goes beyond words.
