It’s been a while but my first impression of Language Simp was negative too. I thought he was just exploiting UA-cam for money basically but eventually I saw a few of his videos mostly because UA-cam forced them on me 😂 and realized this guy is really creative and clever. My favorite language is Japanese and I loved his videos on Japanese. I couldn’t stop laughing at his take on the Japanese UA-cam community. Listening to him talk about his creative process I am reminded of Brandon Sanderson (and other authors) describing their creative process too. I don’t watch all og his videos though. I see a video where he says he’ll do something ridiculous like repeat something over and over for 24 hours straight. Maybe I should give that a chance. It might be more interesting than it sounds.
Satire always gets people's attention in a humorous way. Language Simp deserves his success and the type of PC I fully support. PC = Polyglot Comedian.
I love to see people with such different methods discuss a common passion this is very interesting I like language simp a lot both as a person and a content creator
Good point about the humor while teaching languages. You really have to be a different breed to teach and be comedic in another language, whilst engaging EVERYONE (any language) simultaneously.
Really good interview guys! I'm also struggling with this 1 video per week mentality, it's a lot of pressure. I do enjoy good quality content as opposed to hastily produced content.

@@polyglotdreams yup, I enjoy both aspects/approaches. They are completely different in some ways but you need both at times. It’s great to geek out and take the serious scholarly approach for a bit and then be able to switch it up and have fun with languages.
I know it took me about four days to edit the video that’s going up on my channel. It’s 7.5 minutes, and I still messed up on the audio…but I’m not fixing it 😂
He is fun, and he makes fun of fake polyglots I think I discovered his channel when he was still small, like 30k or so I always loved learning languages, but it was during COVID that I started being more serious So that's at least one positive aspect I gonna carry through all my life
As Thai, I'm working as Engineer as well. I really love language when I was young since my grandpa migrated to Thailand from Chaozhou. My mom speaks Teochew fluently but I'm not. However it's hard to find good book to learn Mandarin also during cold war. Mandarin was banned back then 40 yrs ago. So I started to learn English instead. I hate French when I was in Highschool but need to know French pronunciation b/c I couldn't understand when they speak english at the office. In the end, I really love the French sound. Then fall in love with VN gals 5 yrs ago. I consider it easy due to 95% identical to my native Thai language. In any case I didn't pay much attention to VN language. Kindda on and off. Right now L.simp streams VN language on YT for 2 weeks. It's fun to learn with him and understand new things from native speaker in the chat. My VN mother-in-law said to me yesterday that I speaks VN like native.
I'm discovering your channel today and this is amazing ! Thank you ! I know Simp and... hahaha as a French I'm almost offended when I see a baguette in the river, right point ! (and noone French would swim to get it back hahaha, the bread is lost [yes I'm crying]) I love the way you two, as you said, in different ways but with the same goal, play with languages/culture ! PS: "ideas baking in time" seems to be a French expression, as a French with French as mothertongue it's as a French was speaking English with a French approach
Hey guys. Right now im learning Portuguese and I'd like to also learn Scottish Gaelic and German. I really am trying to push myself to believe I can learn multiple languages. Maybe humans are capable of great things when we don't doubt ourselves.
In elementary school, I tought myself Vietnamese, then in high school, I wanted to learn a language but didn't know what language I wanted learn until I listened to G.E.M.(邓紫棋) and I started teaching myself Mandarin because of the music, but I want to get to a B2 in Mandarin, now I'm learning Somali
One of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen. We just needed Steve Kaufmann to complete the holy trinity, but things are perfectly balanced for now as all things should be
Hi, I am a Hebrew native speaker. I am bilingual, Hebrew and English as a second language but my main issue is that my anxiety impairs my true language ability. I am confident that my vocabulary is good at English but when I speak English, I feel like I lack confidence to express myself to the fullest of abilities. Here is my question ( sorry for the long comment), I have moved to Germany and now I will learn the German language and at the same time, I want to perfect my English, is it possible without too much anxiety and blackouts?
Thanks for the interview. From a video standpoint though, I find that there are too many cuts. For a "webcam" situation, talking to the camera, some cuts are tolerable, but in this outdoor setting it becomes a bit distracting.
On the one hand, sure, there are people like Xioamannyc or whomever who overclaim and are clearly grandstanding, then again so is languagesimp who I literally blocked here because you can only say omg polyglot fakers so many times before it gets tiresome. Some people do in fact speak lots of languages, just like some people are experts in maths or others are experts in stamp collecting. Of things in the world to get upset about "fake" polyglots (I don't think that's really the case btw) are not one of them. Though many polyglots wrongly claim native fluency. I've only been told I have native fluency in French by native speakers and even then well, ya caught me on a good day. Also no one bothers to point out language deterioration in one's native language. I knew this guy in the foreign legion who basically forgot english. You can call him stupid, I wouldn't, but we excel at whatever we focus on and can only focus on so much.
@@polyglotdreams Once is amusing. Everytime is disappointing. If I felt I were learning anything from him I might have a different view. One trick pony, sorry to say. I'm surprised he hasn't gone after you yet and he definitely has gone after people who don't deserve it and are not pretending.
I follow him, and his videos make me laugh, but in some of his videos, he makes a video and explains sentences in the foreign language, but they are insulting sentences. I hope he deletes it so that people don't use it thinking it's sentences in a foreign language, but they are insults and curses.
This is the hyperpolyglot gigachad collaboration of all time. Yin and Yang. Balance brought to the language universe.
I love your comment
Language simp is so humble, he always is in discord speaking with his fans and fellows giving feedback
I agree.
Nice username and pfp
It's fascinating seing Language Simp as himself for once, instead of the role he always has to play for the sake of entertainment.
I hated him cuz he made me hesitant of learning German, but then I started to feel his vibe and humor, and now I am a subscriber 😂
Good change
I met both of these guys recently at the Polyglot Gathering. It was a pleasure speaking to both of them. Absolute gents.
Thanks so much Steve... a real pleasure 🙏
I was not expecting this collaboration it was actually a great, informative talk!

I wish I had a gigachad beard like le simp, but it's too patchy. Hopefully learning Russian Portuguese and Hebrew will make it grow longer.
Lol best of luck that it will grow more
Oh, it absolutely will. I'm a girl and that's why I'm not learning Portuguese or Russian.
Maybe you should study Apache then ;)
Sorry to hear about Language Simp's poor eye. I hope he can get it rectified/healed 🙏🏾
