They do look the same. So that’s impressive. Not to mention super delicious. But I’m sure the Italians (or other cheffy folks like me) will now comment to say that neither is a risotto, because the texture is incorrect. A risotto should “swim/flow on the plate”. Namely, there needs to be more of the liquid/cream (created from the emulsification of the starch, stock, butter and parm)
That effect wouldn’t be possible with a rice cooker. Its fuzzy logic is based upon the temperature inside the cooker rising above 212F/100C one the liquid is absorbed. So if you were to add more liquid in the hope of ending up with more “flow” the cooker would simply keep cooking until the rice turns to mush.

I use a pressure cooker for my risotto and it does swim on the plate. I also used to cook it in the microwave and got the same result. I love risotto but hate the standing about waiting. Also, in a rice cooker, whilst you wait for the cooker to wilt the last minute ingredients, you could add a little bit more stock and get the swim as it would mix with the starch already present.
LOOOVE my rice cooker!! Use it for everything from soup to the best oatmeal in the morning! Will definitely give this recipe a go, and please more rice cooker recipes!!
Fantastic. I avoid rice risotto even tho I love it because all the waiting and stirring sucks the life from my soul. I will try this rice cooker method!!
I have just tried it and OMG!! It is SOOO delicious I mean WHAAAT?? Throwing a few ingredients in a rice cooker can make this HEAVENLY DISH?? And I mean with almost no work? I am all for that! The flavors, it is rich, creamy, comforting, Im gonna be making this for the whole weak straight, it is THAT GOOD!
I hate them so much. They literally want everything done soooooo hard like rolling pasta, making from scratch. Omg. I'll just buy it dried omg. Like I need food in 20 mins, not 3 Hours

I love videos like this- I love risotto and love cooking, but I’m disabled with mobility issues- so there’s NO WAY I could cook a risotto normally!😩🤷♀️🥰
Marion ! Your “rice cooker hacks” on many tried-and-true dishes really work ! Thank you. I wish so many college young adults watch your videos, learn your techniques, follow your instructions, then cook for themselves healthily, enjoyably and economically - as so many of them nowadays have rice cookers in their dormitories and student apartments, or their moms actually pack rice cookers for them to schools, even white kids.

Any tips/instructions for making congee in a rice cooker? Tried to years ago, but the short-grain rice I used never fully broke down. Do you need to use a food processor to fully turn it into a porridge/soup? 💗
I was told not to let risotto cook longer than 12 mins, to the point I put the timer on for 12 mins. I do like the rice to hold the Al dente texture though.
@@luminatrixfanfiction True, but that is because the fine starch that is on the rice grains is needed for the cooking. It makes the dish richer and creamier. Most rice however should be washed to remove any dirt and the fine starch.
A glas of wine while stiring? Ever watched Alfredissimo!? A Talkshow, where Alfred Biolek cooked with his promi guests. And talked. And had a glas of "kitchen wine", pref german Riesling.
No, no, no. There is only one way, it takes 15 min in all start to finish, and takes no rice cooker, pressure cooker or oven. Don’t like it? Don’t make it. Or, don’t call it risotto. So sorry Marion, love you dear but not this. I am sure it is delicious but you are overcomplicating the pan recipe, and…. Well no.
Most disappointing episode ever. How can you even call either of those risotto? Do you know what makes risotto risotto? Why do you use those specific rice varieties? Because they break down and release a starchy powder into the stock AS YOU STIR IT. That doesn't happen without stirring. That is what makes risotto creamy. Both of your versions, yes, even the stove top one, are NOT creamy, they both looked dry as evidence of not enough stock and not enough or completely absent stirring. Best thing is you didn't add cream I suppose. But then you didn't add white wine either. Can't say I would want to eat either of those two 'cooked rice' dishes as I would call them. Sorry. Not for me.
Would love a rice cooker playlist!

Exactly! However… If you were making arancini this would be fine!
Maybe if you use the congee setting on your rice cooker?

I wonder if anyone has tried this in the $15 Kmart rice cooker…. Hmmm.
Maybe I’ll have to try! Because ummmm YUMMMMM ❤
I use my crockpot pressure cooker for perfect risotto in 7 minutes !! Of course once it has come to pressure…
Hi Marion. How would you adapt the recipe if wanting to add meat e.g chicken or prawns?
no wine in either?
I can’t believe how big Charlie is!! Crazy!
I wonder if this would work with a more basic rice cooker!?- one with just an on button ??
Did she use the normal setting for white rice in the rice cooker?
Can any rice cooker will work for this recipe? Thx
Can this be done in a normal rice cooker?
Are your products still sold in nz? I went to woolies/countdown and couldnt find them anymore
This looks amazing! I don't have a rice cooker, but I have an instant pot with a rice setting. Do you think that would work?
brought to you by Panasonic 😂😂😂😂

What about the wine??
I wonder what wud happen if you did a breadmaker hack to make risotto 😂

Adding...

You dont wash the rice prior to putting it into the rice cooker??
It’s Arborio rice, never wash before hand or you’ll loose the creaminess of the risotto
@@mrmrsmac4584 i see - so creaminess trumps dirtiness?
