Oh, sweet. I had opened UA-cam this afternoon before leaving unexpectedly. I stopped at a thrift store on my way home and found an Itaki Pro. I just got back home and found this video listed among my recommendations. Now I know how to use it !
Thank you for this! I bought my husband one of the Itaki boxes about 18 months ago, so he could cook himself some food at work. However, apart from opening the parcel and looking inside the box, it's not been outside the box since. I am going to make sure he sees this video and learns what to do so he can start using it!
This would be good for a single person living alone for making dinner, or a senior who might forget to turn something off, the first one that shuts off automatically.
Cant count how many times my grandmother forgot to turn off the stove or had to microwave her meals to eat because she couldnt cook anymore being so forgetful.
I bought this once or twice but gave it away becoz my mom was concerned about the water being inside there n getting moldy. Wish I had one but too many pots n pans in the house now.
I have one and it's really good for home use as well when you're making a big meal on the stove but want lunch on the side as well without using a microwave. I don't bring it to work as much anymore because my first Itaki got stolen when I forgot to take it home. It's very sad when the people you work with can't be trusted.
I’m an RA at my university and unfortunately in the dorms a lot of these kind of products are not allowed. If we are lucky enough parents will donate a microwave in the common areas for students to use. Currently my dorm has a terrible microwave that no longer has the power to heat up food like an average microwave. Sometimes it’ll take 5-6 minutes to heat up ramen or any dish. This would be pretty neat to have if universities would allow it- but I would make sure with anyone’s college that these are allowed.
I have a couple nurse coworkers who brought this (or something similar to this) to work. Definitely makes break time (if you get one) more rewarding. ❤
When we go hiking we have a hotdog thermos and just keep them in the boiling water in the thermos. It's great as a hiking meal❄️ or, soups ofc 😉 or some kind of stew. Thermoses are underrated
I drive long haul and recently got both of those models of lunch boxes as a gift to help cook on the road. I've been searching for some recipes and ideas of what I can cook with. I didn't know you could actually stir fry/fry food in the larger box! Love your videos, and love your reviews. Thank you!
Oh my gosh, Emmy these are amazing. I just visited their website dreading the cost and they're super affordable too! Have to seriously think about getting one of these. Their size will help with portion control too.
I got em last Christmas thought be good for kids cause they look like small toys, but I use one myself now and it's enough to fill me. I'm a big guy too so that saying something!
💨 These are the cutest little things. I am going to get one for my granddaughter who will be starting college next fall. Thanks for another fantastic video Emmy.
If she's in a dorm you might want to consult with dorm guidelines for appliances first (if she knows where she's going). I don't know if this would count as an "exposed heating element" if those are banned.
My oldest just started college this fall. He packed one of these along with a kettle. Haven't heard him having any trouble with it so far. It uses same wattage as the kettle so I don't see what the issue would be. Just teach em common sense. It turns off on its own anyways. If they ask tell em it's a toy hehe
@@cutienerdgirl speaking as a former RA, there are normally room checks and safety inspections that go on. We were well acquainted with what things were allowed and anything not allowed we would have them explain what it was and if necessary confiscate the items and/or send them to our supervisors to get a better judgement of the item in question. That being said if it wasn't a hot plate we generally didn't really care.
I love broccoli, and sugar snap peas rock! Those gadgets look useful, but I really think there's limited work environments where you could use them. Many places have restrictions on having hot pots or plates at your desk. And slow-cooking something could lead to a lot of criticism from coworkers who have to smell it cooking for lengths of time.
You should check out Miss Yeah. 😂😂😂 She cooks elaborate meals with "homemade" contraptions at her desk. It's for show, but hilarious to watch nonetheless. Her oldest videos look real, but now she's more famous, it's more of a production and looks very scripted.
Until I found the Hot Logic Mini and the Itaki pot, I used to carry a camping mess kit and a portable butane burner on the service van. I had customers ask more than once where the smell of garlic and pickled vegetables was coming from!
I've seen ads for this on Facebook, but I'm always skeptical as to whether products in those ads are from legitimate companies. So thank you for showing us what these are like! ❤️
@@callmewaves1160 for sure! I was a little disappointed when I saw it needed a cord, but it hasn't really been a problem. I just leave it in the break room for about 30 minutes and come back to a fresh hot lunch. It's still really nice!
Hélène Louise My husband and I took an 11 hour road trip and this would have been nice for when we stopped and had lunch. On the other hand we met some nice people at a Wendy’s-they’re the only place I eat chili out-and we got some good directions and hints for the Canadian toll roads.
I actually did something similar with a rice cooker that had a steamer attachment. It was great since I spent almost a year working out of town at a hotel.
I bought my Itaki pot for hotel stays on service calls. Sometimes all you want is a hot cup of good noodles and some pickled vegetables after a long day away from home.
I'm pretty sure stoves don't just catch on fire. That's some shady cooking happening, or else the gas needs repaired and nobody should be touching it until its either fixed or replaced!
If they're "known to catch fire" surely maintenance are replacing them or checking the wiring? Tbh anything that heats up can catch fire...I remember my mates toaster blowing up in their room!
Toasters are very dangerous. They use a ton of watts like a blowdryer and it's essentially a mini-open oven. The thing she's using works like a kettle, at least the black one anyways. I would think it's fine as long as you don't touch the steam when it's hot.
I LOVE THIS, I Just bought a brand new itaki on the internet that someone!! sold for 10 bugs because he never used it. So, so happy you posted this! My meal is cooking beside me on my desk, I am IN LOVE with it already!

Oh my gosh that is amazing. I could just imagine people sitting in their cubicles. Cooking themselves a homemade meal at their desk. This is beyond excellent!
I've been using a lunch "crockpot" at work in the cold seasons a few years. I love it! Eat home cooked hot food. Microwaves don't heat very well so easy!
I drove tractor-trailers for awhile a few years ago, so I purchased a similar (though simpler) 12 volt cooker. I would frequently drive to my first destination in parts unknown, with my cab emitting the aroma of a pancake house; this was surreal and rewarding. I had steaming hot sausage and pancakes, any morning I wanted it, cooking as I drove. :D
@@emmymade That one was called a "RoadPro". It was model RPSC-197-p and it's shaped like a classic "Well, I'm off to the mill!" lunch box. :) The little disposable aluminum trays, shaped especially for the cooker, were a bit costly, however; I mostly wrapped items in aluminum foil, which was also not quite a guilt-free consumable item. It was a nice treat, though, and it never cought on fire! :D
@@MizFrost I got one of those flat aluminium square ones at Walmart 4-5 years ago. They only heat up though though just enough to give off steam. These Itaki buggers I got last Christmas for the kids and I. They even cook raw meat well and pretty safe so I'd say it's worth it and no issues with em so far
I was thinking the little rice cooker lunchbox, plus a power inverter, means no more drive thru on long road trips, then you just need a 12 volt fridge/cooler for a cold drink. Sounds perfect.
I love this video! I've been researching these devices for about a month now. I finally bought the jumbo electric lunch box and the shabuki pot with steamer basket a couple days ago. I've been looking for a way to eat healthy, fresh, and cheap at work, and I think this is the answer! I can't wait to try everything out! Thank you Emmy for helping me understand these devices and educating me on a new kind of cuisine :)

We weren't supposed to do any cooking in our dorm room but I managed to sneak in an 8 burner commercial range and a 3 bay fryer. My roommates loved picking up server shifts for extra drinking money!
Wasn’t in college, had a friend and I smoked hookah. Conveniently my electric burner was good enough to cook homemade meals and since all I had to do was bring a small pot or small pan- we would make meals that everyone could eat and it was more convenient for me since I knew how to make homemade beef egg rolls (lumpia). Made a good side hustle out of it for anybody close by that wanted fried rice with an egg roll or 3:)
InfinityOrchid smokers get breaks to pollute their lungs, others should get the same amount of time too. You could make your lunch during your not a smoking break
I feel like someone would use this during class. *Professor:* So class, please turn your textbooks to page *sniff sniff* who's cooking in my class?! *Everyone turns their heads to the student mixing and cooking food* *Student:* Oh, I didn't eat anything today. *Picks up the pot and eats out of it in front of everyone*
Thank you for sharing this. When we have to travel so much in hotel rooms for military, it is very difficult to cook with little to no equipment. We've tried portable stove top, rice cookers, etc etc but they tend to be to big or the hotel complains. The products your shared seem discreet enough to be very useful and such a variety of options.
My 9yo son found one of these at our corner donation store (donate something take something) and brought it home as a gift for me! Thank you for the demo, we can’t wait to get experimenting!
Your college allowed stuff like that! Mine allowed absolutely nothing beyond a microwave. No hot plate, no crockpot, definitely wouldn't have allowed something like this, either.
This was really interesting and informative. We just signed a lease for our organization's first office space, and there is no break room. We plan to have a little fridge and a donated convection oven, but that's it. This seems like a perfect option! I'm really excited they you introduced me to this option. With all my current zoom at home meetings, too, I could see this saving time and providing more healthy meals.
I wish I still worked front desk at a hotel. I'd get this just to make my old Indian boss furious. Well...pretend to be furious. He used to get onto me all the time for wearing 'running shoes'. One day a customer was giving me a hard time when checking in so I just said 'you know what. you aren't going to be staying here so it doesn't matter and ripped up the check in slip thing. Then I turned around and he was standing behind me lol shaking his head.

This would be great for young adults who have just started living on their own. I remember I didn’t have any cooking ware when I moved into my first apartment alone. This is great because it’s the cook ware and also the dishes! No crowded sink.
I saw an ad on facebook for this. Thought it was a great idea but wanted to see some reviews for it. Your video was part of the ad. I go to UA-cam to find out if it's worth it and bam it's you. After your video I'm totally sold, loved your input and display of what to do with it. 1st time using it no less. Liked and subbed. Awesome stuff. Thank you.
This is SUCH a good idea for a dorm room, but I'm not sure I would bring it to the office, not enough outlets and my coworkers might object to the smell.
I could see this working in an office with a kitchenette. We're always in the breakroom anyway, grabbing another cup of tea or coffee, filling up water bottles. Might as well keep an eye on your lunch as it simmers.
I've seen these. They are supposed to be more environmentally responsible, but I feel like they are just a huge waste. A good set of metal cutlery will last pretty much forever, if taken care of and will always do a good job. I bet you'd need to replace those bamboo cutlery after a year.
Asha I have a far more delicate set than hers, and the main reason I like it is because it’s quieter. No loud clanging silverware at my desk or wherever I’m taking them out to use them.
This video is very important to me. I kept seeing the commercial for this thing on IG and FB, so it was always in the back of my mind. However, this video really just sets my mind to get it. It shows the practicality and also how you would apply to use this in real life situations. Thank you so much
I once had a 1 cup miniature coffee machine hidden in a corner that I made in the morning in the classroom before the kids arrived and the teacher had issues about that. I was a teaching assistant at the time. This I love but it would never do well at work in America bc they are too hellish, into office politics and starting mess in America. Plus it would be considered a health hazard due to the electrical nature and especially if food is popping or bubbling.
I had a little electric hot pot when I was in college. Made my fair share of ramen, macaroni and cheese, hard-boiled eggs, and blanched veggies. It had a metal interior, which held up really well and was easy to clean. Tempted to get one of these even though I have a full kitchen! I’m a sucker for a convenience gadget.

Totally! 😳
I bought this once or twice but gave it away becoz my mom was concerned about the water being inside there n getting moldy. Wish I had one but too many pots n pans in the house now.

I live alone, and I will always live alone until I'm old and feeble, and this looks perfect for a one person home.
It is perfect for that. I use mine just about every day at home.
I have one and it's really good for home use as well when you're making a big meal on the stove but want lunch on the side as well without using a microwave. I don't bring it to work as much anymore because my first Itaki got stolen when I forgot to take it home. It's very sad when the people you work with can't be trusted.
Salem, get an air fryer instead. Gives you more options.
Kathy Wise That sucks. I hate thieves. They was probably eyeing it from the first time they saw you with it smh.
Salem l dude just buy a pot and pan??
Like seriously, ppl in college/university should really have this.
Teviano Its a very good graduation gift. Most colleges don't allow the hotplate. So this is a very good thing for students.
I had a “Hot Pot” in college, back in the late 1970s. I used that thing all the time.
I wish I had this in college!
when i was a student, i had a rice cooker that doubled as a steamer and slow cooker, i loved it.
When I was in early elementary I ate out of my thermos behind a book. This would have really stepped up my game
When we go hiking we have a hotdog thermos and just keep them in the boiling water in the thermos. It's great as a hiking meal❄️ or, soups ofc 😉 or some kind of stew. Thermoses are underrated

I didn't know you could actually stir fry/fry food in the larger box! Love your videos, and love your reviews. Thank you!
I love this for single people who don’t want to cook big meals at home and eat leftovers for days (some of which never gets eaten).
And for people who have picky family members and want to eat something different!
Yes, newly divorced, and just cooking for myself, this is really very attractive.
That's better than an office setting 😅

If she's in a dorm you might want to consult with dorm guidelines for appliances first (if she knows where she's going). I don't know if this would count as an "exposed heating element" if those are banned.
@@t.o.4251 Why would the dorm head know? Who's gonna tell them?
I love how she gives actually honest and helpful reviews of the products and doesn't just say they are great .

Can you imagine sitting at your desk and suddenly hear the sound of hot oil from a few cubicles behind you?
😂😂😂 Just imagining this makes me laugh
😂🤣
You should check out Miss Yeah. 😂😂😂 She cooks elaborate meals with "homemade" contraptions at her desk. It's for show, but hilarious to watch nonetheless. Her oldest videos look real, but now she's more famous, it's more of a production and looks very scripted.
Until I found the Hot Logic Mini and the Itaki pot, I used to carry a camping mess kit and a portable butane burner on the service van. I had customers ask more than once where the smell of garlic and pickled vegetables was coming from!
I'll be drooling for sure
I've seen ads for this on Facebook, but I'm always skeptical as to whether products in those ads are from legitimate companies. So thank you for showing us what these are like! ❤️

@@callmewaves1160 for sure! I was a little disappointed when I saw it needed a cord, but it hasn't really been a problem. I just leave it in the break room for about 30 minutes and come back to a fresh hot lunch. It's still really nice!
I think the smaller cooker would be nice when staying in a hotel to warm chili or soup.
I didn't even think about that! Great road trip item
Hélène Louise My husband and I took an 11 hour road trip and this would have been nice for when we stopped and had lunch. On the other hand we met some nice people at a Wendy’s-they’re the only place I eat chili out-and we got some good directions and hints for the Canadian toll roads.
@@winebox did you hear about the Wendy's chili with someone's cut off finger in it?!
As someone who lives in student housing where the stoves are known to catch fire, this would make my life so much easier
And safer ... best of luck in your studies and stay safe over the holiday season.
I'm pretty sure stoves don't just catch on fire. That's some shady cooking happening, or else the gas needs repaired and nobody should be touching it until its either fixed or replaced!
Any large heating surface can be prone to fire. Just place a piece of tissue paper on a stovetop and itll burn like a match.

Nice! Do you have any recommendations? I would love to test one out on a road trip.
I think Wish has one that runs on the car's cigarette lighter.
