Every single time I talk about how much I like Fallout 4, someone just has to bring up how Fallout 3 or New Vegas is superior.

Seeing how some reacted to the show really just annoyed me to no end, I don't understand why the timeline being altered by a couple of years, in a series that has had an unreliable timeline since 2 I might add, is a big deal at all? Especially when the creators stated years ago that the chronological line of the series isn't set in stone, probably because it's a post apocalypse so dates aren't the most reliable anyway which I always thought was intentional...
It's so damn annoying, the amount of times I've been called "not a real fan" by people who I would bet haven't been playing these games 17 years since the first one, I've written theories on defunked message boards back in 2010 which were copied in to parts of Fextralife wikis! 🤣
It's fairly silly that a IP about how dangerous unchecked corporations and government systems of all kinds are has an almost religious level of fanaticism, I like that Bethesda bought fallout because without it? it would have either ended at the awful "tactics" game or be an indie title by now, new Vegas wouldn't exist.
Also I remember when New Vegas launched... On Xbox it didn't work for months so I got my money back and picked it up in 2014 when the complete edition came out.
Fandoms like to be contrary in nature, to form little splinter groups that hate certain parts to pretend that gaming is better if less people enjoy it... Somehow, hell years ago you were a nerd just for playing videogames now they are accepted and people make good TV series out of the things I love! Which will bring more fans and a continuous stream of new content, some people don't like golden ages because 'they were here before it was cool' is a huge attitude.

Fallout 4 was really immersive for me, I spent Hundred of hours building settlements and atomatrons alone
The settlement system added a deeper layer of costumization in the game I always was attached to, i turned the older house of the protagonist into my main house, used Shaun's room as storage, got the town all conected with lights, radios, made one of the scrappable hoses into a basketball field, and decorated every house. Basically half my playtrough went on settlements 😂
There was a UA-camr who said it better, but Fallout 4 was a good game, just not a good Fallout game

It's insane how well they made the TV show. They capture the feeling so well. Fallout 4 was awesome.
Fallout 4 is my favorite fallout experience on the "wandering around". The world looks beautiful, attention to detail is on point, its the kind of game where you try to go into a straight line and get diverted into lots of stories. And the mods on console always kept things fresh for a new playtrough
I agree 100 percent. I got it installed again on my series X for the 25th update. Gonna start fresh again with some mods...if they will still work after the update...fingers crossed. Gonna be a blast.
Yeah story wise (other than maybe Fall Harbor), it’s not that strong. But man does it have a fun sandbox to just cause some havic. If it only had a better rpg system (mainly dialogue) and a more interesting and cohesive narrative it would have been a masterpiece.

Man I remember playing this in VR and it blew my mind. You could do things like stick your arm through the holes in the concord museum to fire at the raiders while behind cover or just simply run in the opposite direction of an attacker while shooting back over your shoulder. It was so good! Not to mention how terrifying even the simplest things like mole rats and rad roaches become when they really look like something the size of a dog running straight at you.

i felt the first two episodes dragged, the first impressions of the characters arent good, and they dont seem have to developed much by the end of the season. the story itself wasnt as bad. there's some creatures and timeline things that dont make sense if you hold to the games, and theres a big faction just gone. I feel it was worth the effort.

fun fact, in Fallout 4, the assault rifle was originally going to be a LMG, but due to time isues Bethesda could not finish it in time, they didn't have a moddle for what would be the assault rifle, but did have the specks for the assault rifle, since time was running out to release the game and they needed an assault rifle, they combined the LMG moddle and the assault rifle specks together to have a assault rifle for the game, so if anyone was wondering why the assault rifle looks bad/jank, now you know

Nick Valentine is not the Mysterious Stranger. Both can show up in the cutscene as clearly two different people.
Also, when coming upon Diamond City for the first time, one can smack the backside of Piper and force the cutscene to skip and door to open.

I still love playing this game. It’s my second favorite in the franchise. The Captain America/blade runner/terminator feel to the main story is really cool. Also the companions add even more charm to it. Plus Nate has the best protagonist background. It’s possible that he may be the hero of Anchorage.

thinking of playing again, spent countless of hours loving life in this game from 2015-2017 and a good 2 years playing New Vegas back in the day. Took my time with the missions and really explored everything. But, I never played Fallout 76 so I just purchased it today after seeing its free for me. Love how people who weren't fans of Fallout before the show are all going to start playing the game now and looking into the history. Such a good game series
I had the funniest glitch with Mysterious Stranger perk while replaying Fallout 3. Some mod made Mysterious Stranger lose his gun and made him charge enemies with his bare fists. He did practically no damage, but it was funny as heck. Especially in Operation: Anchorage, when he proceeded to punch a spider tank in his fedora and trench coat.
Finally bought the DLC during the Steam Winter Sale (owned since release) and just started picking back up recently. I am so happy the show has come out because I am also only one session in to running the TTRPG set in the Cajun Wasteland so it gave my players who dont play the games an awesome idea of what the world looks like.

The first Fallout without walls full of text that you have to read. The voiced protagonist ist one of the reasons i like Fallout 4 the most. In addition, it wasn't boring in terms of Gunplay in contrast to its predecessors. And unlike many others, I found the story solid. Short but interesting.

My fallout 4 crashes on the main menu screen due to the Automatron DLC. So pissed bc 1. I had a game going and was at the end
2. The creation club made my saves corrupt
3. I wanted to play a new save anyway since I watched the show, but I can't get past ten seconds on the main menu

I remember remodeling Shauns room in the protagonist's old house into a teenager's kinda room for a bit of roleplay on the character's behalf and after I finished the game i sealed it off but left it as is bc i couldn't bring myself to change it or destroy any of the stuff I'd put in it.

Too bad downloading one of the creations corrupted my Fallout 4 so whenever I’ve tried to go into the game it crashes and the save data it creates says corrupted save. Can’t fix the problem through safe mode since that hasn’t worked so far
I always start with all 4s across the board. The problem is, I would never want any of my stats to be at a 3 or lower. So I go with even Special to start and spend perk points to level what I need.
This is mostly because in FO3 and New Vegas there were more starting Special points.

I got some of the new weapons in the update, but they are invisible. Invisible in my menus, invisible when I hold them. Nice glitch.
I redownloaded and was about to start a new playthrough until I saw the next (current, now, I guess) gen update drops next week. Gonna wait it out like a brand new game release but binge on weird tips and tricks to prep myself.

I absolutely loved fallout 4 when it came out and I absolutely love it now. I played for 8 hours straight last night. I haven’t been able to do that ina Video game since.. well, my last fallout 4 playthrough LOL! (4 years ago)
FO4 was my first game and I was spoiled on how amazing it is, I love cooking, I love crafting, but I definitely love the Power Armor feeling like Ironman
(And I also love Piper's thiccness 😏)

8:12 this glitch made me literally stop playing Fallout 4 and I went to play witcher 3 instead, and I never went back to fallout 4 ever since.. I'll definitely go back to it when the new next gen update arrives! :D

Im 31 now and just started fallout 4 VR, i was going to UCF when Fallout 4 came out out originally, and have lots of memories. This gane makes me feel melancholy and nostalgic, for my life i had when i was originally experiencing this game. Driving my car around Lake Monroe at 6:30 am watching the sun rise, smoking a joint playing sixty minute man with the windows down. Cool breeze with the promise of a hot Florida day to come. I didnt have a care in the world. I had just got a new car and my first apartment. If only i could go back in time and sell everything i owned to buy bitcoin and eat ramen noodles every day until 2024.

Y'know, I never really played a huge amount of Fallout 4 Even though I bought it twice lol, once on my PS4 with the Season Pass and a second time on my Xbox One. Oddly enough of all the fallout games that Bethesda did, the one I ended up actually playing the most was 76. But with the show, and the fact that there's a new update (I had not heard about that until you mentioned it here) I think I'll get the GOTY edition since it's only $10 and really give it another shot.
I was also still really struggling with open world games at the time, things like Dragon Age Inquisition and things just completely overwhelmed me. Now that I've gotten a lot better about all of that, I think it's time to go back.
Fallout 4 will have a special place to my heart. I know people might not think it’s the best fallout game, but it was my first and will always be my favourite. I remember playing this game for hours. I used to dream about my settlement worrying about the water and food supplies haha.

Hope the next gen updates will be good enough o get me back into this great game, I played it on day 1 and unfortunately had a ground breaking bug that wouldn’t let me get to the final area and so I dropped it.
I started with fallout 3 and new vegas. went back and played 1 and 2. so when i played 4 i was disappointed and 76 was a disaster.
