This may have some of the best improvisations on Althea that John has done with Dead & Co. It is super engaging for the entire song. Thanks for sharing such a close up view, I can study the guitar playing, haha
The whole night was this way. they are struggling with levels and falling back on their improv roots which made some awesome 1st set jams. Wasn't crazy about this Althea but this venue is so challenging. It's really small and vertical so the typical bust outs have been falling a little flat since they can't turn it loose yet. Once Oteil figures out he's too low and Jeff fills out those mids, these staples of the arenas will catch fire like they always have. This room has unlimited potential but even these guys need more than two nights to master it. I'd kill for a July show right about now but this was my favorite show to date. The visuals just made it so great
Way to go, John...$175,000,000 to repair the roof of The Sphere. Your Althea guitar solo just blew the roof clean off!!! THANK YOU for showing Jerry his well-deserved respect. And way to honor him.
I was there the first 2 nights. That althea 2nd solo live was unreal. Hearing it through the phone gives it no justice. It was certainly in my opinion the best solo dead and Co I’ve seen live. Granted, I’ve been to about 10 dead and company shows but that was certainly his best jam.
I watch John play this lead and just wonder how? How? How can he do it. Each note is perfect. When you think he’s gonna take it easy he plays even harder.. when you think his arms are about to cramp out, he goes into triplets. This man is unbelievable..
@@dennisball9828 I’ve watched. Dead and Co perform “Althea” several times. Tempo a little slower and don’t know what was on John’s mind while singing. Maybe self consideration.
I'll see the Dead & Co next weekend. I saw U2 at The Sphere in October. I had ringing in my ears when I left. Not bad but, you know, it's still ringing.
I have a semi hollow D'A and it has great action. Replaced the pickups and added a coil split and there you go. For a solidy body i would look for a basic PRS SE can be had under $500.

You know this Las Vegas Sphere is a Big Deal because Bobby seems to wearing a pair of Pants.
But does he have shoes on?
I'm sure he'll wear the same pair throughout the residency.
He's a big boy now.
He did have shoes on! Birkenstocks.
Looks like a really nice show. Good rendition and mix. Good job everyone! Thanks for sharing.

“…There are things you can replace, and others you cannot; the time has come to weigh those things…”
Yes my friend! Amazing, but lacking emotion.🙏

Thank You, great recording, can even hear the bass and kick drum. The mix is good too.
Such an amazing show! This venue has ruined all future shows for me, LOL!! If I can scrape up enough coin, I'll go again during this residency!
I’m with you! I went last night, and now I’m ruined. I’m probably going to go into debt before this is all over
I'm soo excited will be there 11 July for my bday w my 30 yr old so who's a musician oh my God the visuals incredible
thank you very much! Beautiful recording
For some reason this reminds me of a time we recorded this song on a cassette player around 1980
Wow, watching something from 1000 years in the future 🤯
Just watched another video titled " las vegas spear" 😆 I'll give em a break they're probably still high
Im happy to know that this thing is still going by then😂
thanks very much!!
Nailed it, John!
I remember paying less than ten bucks for a ticket and watching them play from feet away. Whole show was general admission.
Althea and Morning Dew my favorite ⚡️🍄🔥
Bobby playing a Les Paul !
With P90s and a Bixby
who cares
A Gold Top Les Paul..... just like Ray Wylie Hubbard wished for way back in the early days.... (and a find stripper girlfriend....)
Sweet. Very sweet.
well goddamn john
How loud was it? I have hearing issues and can't handle loudness.

There are good earplugs that baffle volume without losing clarity. They have really helped me.
The dead dont die
Bob Sphere!
Seems like being this close to the stage you miss the feel of the sphere experience.
If you’re a die hard fan though maybe it’s the experience you prefer (though the sphere is definitely a sight to see from the right angle)
@Sauc3r I get that. I've seen Jerry multiple times up close so I think I'd be more for the sphere experience myself.
wtf was that holy fuck john
He thought it was Eric Clapton for a second. Haha
❤
Please cover Happy by ferrel
EPIC x A MILLION
Time warp to ghe future. Thanks

nice front row view.....wowo
Man! is there anything john mayers face cant do?!
Stay still 😂
Your recording is grest
🎶💕
Who did it better in their old age??? Bobby Brown or Bobby Weir… 😉
😂
3024 ?
❤❤❤😊😊😊
Good moves!
nice!
They beat the Dead horse now they're into taxidermy!!🥱
Dang😊
What’s so great about this? Isn’t the sphere about a multitude of graphics bombarding the senses? Or is that not continuous? Maybe I’m wrong
Does the dude in the front row know where he is? Totally lost and missing such a performance
Security😂
Thats security you hayseed.
😂 well played ⚡️💀🌹
Song name
It's literally in the title bro
When is Justin Bieber going to start playing drums?
Seen better. Rock band stuff. 😔
this seems very stale. I don't like the environment at all. This is beneath the Dead. Jerry would never have done this
Unwatchable.
Please stop kicking Jerry's carcass for money,...this was pathetic.
I agree. get a guitar player who rocks.
It is pathetic!!!!!! Especially for us old timers.
