I think everyone is nervous at this point. I know I was after I installed my Brenspeed supercharger. 76 pages of instructions later after 6 days of work I was almost ready. Last couple of things were filling the new cooling system for the supercharger and loading the new tune into the ECU. It was a pretty complex job for a person doing it for the first time. More electrical work than I expected, right down to moving some wire locations on the EUC connector. There were 3 ECU connectors and the smallest one was something like 40 pins. De-pinning and moving some of those wires to new pin locations in one of the large connectors was way more than I had bargained for. There were other connectors that required de-pinning and moving wires around. There was new wiring for the new boost-a-pump and the coolant pump for the supercharger. New intake manifold, new throttle body, new fuel rails, new spark plugs, new belt system, an additional radiator, supercharger head-unit and new tune. So much to go wrong. Turning the key for the first time was a nail biter. So many things running through my head. It started on the first turn of the key. I let it run for 20 minutes, checking for leaks, over-heating, smoke out of the exhausts. Nothing. So, I put the front bumper back on plus all the other parts that connected to it and took it out for a test run on the freeway. Everything was going good, so I gave it half throttle and suddenly I could smell coolant and steam was piling out from under the hood. I started back home, keeping a close eye on the cylinder head temp gauge. When it got high enough to go into limp mode, I shut it down to cool. I nursed it back to the near-by gas station, where I typically bought my gas. Been there hundreds of times. The woman would not lend me a bucket to fill the rad!! Company policy. No lending out tools, not even the floor washing bucket. Not even if I gave her $60 to keep until I brought the bucket back. I had to continue on, low on coolant Thereafter, I shut it down before it went into limp mode. I was about 3 minutes from home normally. 45 minutes later it was back in the garage. There was coolant all over the engine. Impossible to see the source. So I filled it back up with coolant, so I could see where it was leaking from. No luck. It wasn’t leaking. WTF? I called a friend to look in the engine bay while I ran the throttle. Still no leak! Then I gave it a good dose of throttle a bam, coolant everywhere. A clip-on coolant connector was the culprit. Only this time it came right off, so we could see where the leak came from. After clipping it back on and refilling the coolant again, we ran another test. No leak. Of all the things I did, to install that supercharger, I must have not fully engaged that one clip. I must have pushed down only hard enough to get one side of the clip, clipped down. So there was no leak, except under lots of throttle. Just that one little thing and I could have cooked that engine. I tried not to think of all the other things I could have made a tiny, but fatal mistake on. Took me hours to wash all that smelly coolant out of the engine bay.
As a neighbor I would love and appreciate that sound. What I hate is the sound of the little 4 bangers running around with buzzed exhaust systems thinking they have a hotrod. You my friend have the real thing!
Man, gorgeous car, and just sounds so wicked with that big cam lope👍 If I started that baby up in my neighborhood the cops would be here within two minutes. lol
Glad to see it moving under it's own power! Sounds great! Can't wait for your first track day video. On a side note. When I built my first race 340 for my 71 Demon back in 1973 I really pissed of my old next door neighbor when I fired it up and broke in the flat tappet cam. He was like a grandfather to me but that day he hated my guts! He was a big man and he ran over and told me to shut it off! I said I couldn't. He didn't know about cam break in? I thought he was going to pull me out through the window! He actually died that summer from a heart attack. I felt bad but it had to be done. He never spoke to me again. My mom wasn't too happy either.😂
I WISH i was your neighbor lol Don't know why, but i love listening to a cold motor startup, just how it try's to balance out is satisfying Great Dart sir!
Beautiful car...love the color!!! Sounds outrageous!! I had a '69 GTS with the 383 cu. in. motor. I worked it a lot and it ran high 12's in the 1/4 mile.
My Neighbor in the Early 70's had a 1963 Dart with the Button Box. He pushed it out of his Garage before Firing it up. He would run open on a weekend night. The car Rattled the Windows in many homes. Anywhere between 2-4 am He would come home on a tear, We heard him for a long distance. He cut the Motor about a mile away and he learned the point so He could coast all the way into the Garage.Thank Randy for that first joint. My Mom found the Roach.
When you gave the heads up about the headphones, I went & grabbed a pair & cranked up the volume. Bad ass car . Looks & sounds awesome. We need more neighbors like you. 👍🏼
Man, the sound of a naturally aspirated motor with a BEEFY cam can't be beat. Well, maybe a blower is up there too. I've always dug a metallic red paint job. Might be why that's the color of my truck!
There isn't anything wrong with ur fuel line I've had the same issue many times. It just takes a little bit of time for the seals and fittings to adjust and work like they should Car sounds good tho man
I'd be a little concerned that it's happening at such low "carburetor" fuel pressure levels. Probably under or about 10 psi? Too far back for me to remember those days. LOL
Could there be a manufacturing fault though? I know that it's possible: even Volkswagen group had problems with their aluminum wheels leaking air...through the aluminum!! They had manufacturing defects in their production with the material itself ending up being too porous which leads to letting air through the seemingly intact wheels!
I had 67 Dart…only a six, but I could leave Texas, at 8:00 , and be back to northern Wisconsin, before the Bars would close, on the same day! Never shut it off! Glad, that the crate didn’t hit the car! Sweet ride!
New to classic cars. Just bought my dream truck 72 c10 (project daily driver currently, nothing fancy). But the comment you made about being nervous about the startup and that you’d done a few of these, that’s how I get whenever I change anything! Lol such a newbie to it all but seeing videos like this just get me pumped to do work on my 72. Love to see the excitement you have that she’s up and running. Very cool man. As someone else said you should be proud. Awesome.
Man, this is one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen! I loved my 68 Dart but the interior was in rough shape, just two bucket seats, sheet metal where the back seat used to be, a 6 point roll cage and the dashboard was in rough shape. The guy that I got it from cut the factory wheel wells out and I didn't have the money to narrow the rear end and do custom wheel tubs like I wanted so we just riveted sheet metal inside the trunk and where the back seat used to be so it would pass tech inspection. The factory trunk lid hinges were gone so I installed Dzus buttons to hold it on. It also had a 15 gallon fuel cell in the trunk. I had a 1971 440 that I bought out of a Chrysler Newport. I made a big mistake, I took the block, crank and rods to the machine shop and trusted them, I didn't write down the serial number on my block and didn't pay attention and about a year and a half later after I had built it and raced it all that time I noticed I had a truck block. I've always wondered how much more compression my engine would've had with the 71 car block. I also never did much to the heads, a friend of my brother's ported the 906 heads that were on it, I simply hand lapped the valves and installed the valve springs that came with my cam kit. I didn't know much about engines when I built it, the pistons were forged TRW's but I don't remember much about them other than that. I remembered thinking it was going to be about 11:1 but with that truck block somebody told me it would be much lower. It definitely wasn't 11:1, that's for sure! It had a 558/296 (advertised duration) solid flat tappet cam, Weiand tunnel ram, two Holley 660 center squirter carbs, 727 tranny with the heavy duty bands, full manual valve body, 3500 stall converter and a 410 posi. I never raced eighth mile, it ran 12.01 @ 112 MPH on the motor and 11.23 @ 117 MPH on a 150 shot of nitrous. I wish I had known then what I know now about engines... THAT'S FOR SURE! But it was sure fun building it, racing it on the street and the drag strip! I still think you should try a tunnel ram, it would be interesting. I'd love to send you a picture of my car but I don't know how so I made it the banner picture on my channel but you can't see it very well. Thanks for another great video, you have a beautiful car, that's for sure!

Sounds Great !! Reminds me of when we lived in town back in the 90s. Our neighbors referred to my 68 Charger as The Neighborhood Nuisance. We moved out into the sticks and now make all the noise we want to. LOL. Best of luck when you get to the track !!
Fantastic! I’m happy for ya!
I remember back in the day as a kid. If me and my friends heard open headers we’d be sitting at the foot of your driveway on our bicycles drooling. That’s something kinda rare nowadays unfortunately…
I hope the scuff on the deck lid buffs out 😉👍
Rare indeed. The deck lid will be ok!👍🏻 thanks for watching
That was me and my Buddys Back in the 1970s. Guy 2 blocks away had a Super Late model circle track car..We waited each day in the summer for him to fire it up Then one day he told us to jump in and took us around the Block...July 1977 I'll never forget

I wish more kids had the same curiosity. I’d be happy to explain things (and show off of course)
All of my kids are car folk - if they’re out on the road and see something in a driveway, behind a house or just cruising - they make attempts to get pictures and send them my way 😉👍
@@FreakOlds I Had another Guy at the other end of the Road with a pulling tractor with 4 Keith Black Blown Big Blocks...You Should have seen us Peddle are asses off on them bikes to get there
@@craigmeek6026 I'll bet when he punched the Mopar y'all's little willies rolled up pissed ya pants. Good story mate, u be safe.
*OH HOW SWEET IT IS...THE FIREBREATHING BEAST HAS BEEN AWAKENED!!!* *AND THE BEAST IS WELL BEHAVED, IDLING AT A REASONABLE GROWL, SO PERFECT!!*
ya gotta love the sound of mopars. they wrote the book on muscle cars. i loved my roadrunner.
That is one sharp ride. Looks and sounds amazing.
Very quality build !!!
Awesome ride!
I was the hot rodder on the block growing up in the 70's. Luckily we had some cool neighbors too. Many nights were filled with noisy cars, or burnouts going down the street.
I still have an old big block Vette with side pipes to stir things up 👍
You've got my sub
A nice clean build. Your car is a testament to your attention detail.
I always love to help my "GREEN NEIGHBORS" learn to enjoy open headers.
The kicker is ALWAYS a burnout in the driveway.
Rick
Beautiful 68 ,my brother Tim had one I loved that car I got to drive it 2times he never left anyone else drive it so I was proud as can be
Nicely done. Growing up the were two cars that stood out from all the rest. One a Mustang and the other a brilliant blue and silver metal flake painted Dodge Dart. You brought those metback. Thanks.
Sounds BADASS!! Great job on the rebuild, really enjoy the videos, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing some results at the track.
Hell ya brother!
My Neighbors can't stand mi! Wife and our Boys just laugh! Next door neighbors are Homosexual weirdos. Lol
The '67 thru '69 Darts are in my top 5 cars of all time. Imagine, the humble Dart which in '68 became one of the great 1/4 mile predators of all time.
Big power, small bock, even better !
PS, great color.
I had to continue on, low on coolant
Thereafter, I shut it down before it went into limp mode.
Reminds me of my Mom's 69 Dodge Dart Swinger. Replaced the slant six with a 318,
put in a shift kit and sported that as my daily driver...
Thanx Mom !
Nice job . In 1968 I bought a Hemi Dart GSS from Mr Norms . It’s one of many cars I wish I had back . Thanks for sharing
Sounds awesome! Can't wait to see you run it.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I don't think I've seen a better looking car than this, everything about it is awesome
Bringing back a lot of memories, always liked the boxie look of the Dart & Road Runner... Great job with your build !!!
As a neighbor I would love and appreciate that sound. What I hate is the sound of the little 4 bangers running around with buzzed exhaust systems thinking they have a hotrod. You my friend have the real thing!
Love it. My landlady asked me to move my MOPAR for a few minutes. I forgot to warn her the headers were open.
Iv'e never seen her run so fast.
Man, gorgeous car, and just sounds so wicked with that big cam lope👍 If I started that baby up in my neighborhood the cops would be here within two minutes. lol
I love how, in the background, that milk crate falls off the shelf from the good vibes!
Bro, That is the best video of a cold start on the net brother good stuff Love your car!
Hell ya brother thanks for watching lots on the channel!
A thing of beauty. Brings back fond memories of my 340 Dart... although you're making about 150 more HP than I did.
My first car was a 73 Plymouth Duster, but as I got to know Mopars, my dream was a 340 Dart. or Barracuda. The 340 was my Mopar crush!
Beautiful car...love the color!!! Sounds outrageous!! I had a '69 GTS with the 383 cu. in. motor. I worked it a lot and it ran high 12's in the 1/4 mile.
Sounds nice and healthy great job,I would try two run the exhaust straight out the back looks so much better on a Dart.
Can’t fit with mini tub unless you cut gas tank. I have a you tube vid talki bc about it
My Neighbor in the Early 70's had a 1963 Dart with the Button Box.
👍🏼
Lots more on the channel! Check it out!
Man, the sound of a naturally aspirated motor with a BEEFY cam can't be beat. Well, maybe a blower is up there too. I've always dug a metallic red paint job. Might be why that's the color of my truck!
:
There isn't anything wrong with ur fuel line
I've had the same issue many times. It just takes a little bit of time for the seals and fittings to adjust and work like they should
Car sounds good tho man
I'd be a little concerned that it's happening at such low "carburetor" fuel pressure levels.
@@pistonburner6448 we r talking about a Fuel Line not wheels
@@mikewilhelm5170 Yes. I know. I was talking about manufacturing defects and used the wheels as an example.
I had 67 Dart…only a six, but I could leave Texas, at 8:00 , and be back to northern Wisconsin, before the Bars would close, on the same day! Never shut it off! Glad, that the crate didn’t hit the car! Sweet ride!
Always been a MOPAR fan. Especially pre mid 70's. Beautiful car man. Treat her well!
I had a 1978 Trans Am painted that same color. The color was Sunset Red. It glowed. Even the COPS loved it.
Awesome.
Beautiful car you have Sir, well done! I had a '84 "mustang" with a 650 HP 460 in it, and can attest to the fact that neighbors LOVE open headers :-)
Bro, that is a KILLER ride! Best of luck with it.
It's hyper sweet.
Thanks! Check out some newer vids!
*we look forward to you staging up the dragon...just exciting!!* 😉
I got some races in already check the channel!
Music to my ears!❤️ Reminds me days of yesteryear. Beautiful!
Don't know about y'all but I can feel that idle....and it's good.... neighbors need to appreciate... Just Badass...
I’m a Chevy guy but still have great appreciation for a built 18436572 brother! Nice 👍
Great to see young generation working on these great cars. Great build….and my favorite color of all time……great job!! Enjoy!!
Oh, in my area, we all have homes on several acres…..new neighbors behind us (cant see because of forest)…..own Lamborgini’s……when they fire one up…..music to my ears…..adrenaline, hair raising, big smile…oh yeah……..
Great sound! Along with the 68' coronet super bee and 68 charger 426 hemi this is in my top 3 favorite looking mopars of all time. 1968 was THE year.....Nice choice!
I would be loving that in my neighborhood. Im such a fan of the hot rods. I loved my 58 willys with a nice loud 350. My neighbors hated it and more so when i popped wheelies
Wow, that’s a sweet build Sir! Nice car for sure, I’m doing the “turn-key” on my 1963 Chevy C10 with a rebuilt top end.. {done by me} today’s the nerve of it… all the build-up now the time as with you has come..I had seen those nerves in the body language before when I “turn-key” too.. ha ha, hey great job and great car too! Nice job Sir! “Wish me the same turn-key luck and obvious skills as with you…”
Love your work on that Car !
That was my very 1st car. 1968 Dart GTS 440 4 speed.
I sure miss that car.
Remember those days... Summit was where I got almost everything from and then it was 🇺🇸 made. But as I got older, my love is now for guitars , they are a lot less money, up keep and they don't pit or rust ( I'm from the N.E.). 😀
I had a '69 Dart GT 340 and I sure do miss that car, but other than a few minor mods, it was stock. Nothing like a MOPAR A-body with a surprise under the hood. This '68 is definitely a sweet car.
My first car, a 63 Dodge Dart with the slant-six....later a 67 Chrysler Newport Convertible with a 440, big ass thermo quad, headers that were tuned! A sleeper & plenty of fun cruising the highway!!! Great color! ....👍🤙🤠
Your garage acts as an echo chamber for the Dart’s exhaust. I love it!
That is one beautiful Dodge Dart GTS! I love that body style the most. Nice build. Gonna watch the entire series on this one for sure. 😊
You should be stoked. This is a beautiful car and engine. I owned a 1968 Dart GTS, 383, 4spd.Thanks
I love that sound!! takes me back to the 1990s shortly after we built a monster of a 468 big block for one of my 69 Chevelle's & fired that old girl with open headers & took her for a few rips around the neighborhood , Neighbors loved me lol.. those 68s are a beautiful cars always loved that boxy look . Congrats..✌🏴☠
they actually kinda have a 65 Chevelle look to them In a way

O M G! I got goose bumps!!! Its a beast!!!Loving the chop.😮😊
I honestly wouldn't mind being your neighbor.. I don't think I'll ever get tire of the sounds that engine's create. I have a bmw totally different but I love the sounds when I fire it up.. then when warmed over it's ready to really roll...
