- First fire up cold start for my Small block mopar stroker motor in my 1968 Dodge Dart! My Mopar 360 is bored and stroked to a 414 small block, same as popular Mopar 408 with more bore. The solid roller cam with open header sound is amazing. Head phone warning! This 68 dart will be drag racing soon! Till then enjoy this open header cold start!

My neighbor has a "71"challenger 440 mag.and when I hear it fire upon become that moth.lol regretfully regretfully missing the one I sold..,
I hope the moth doesn’t get sucked into the intake!
I'd be helping him work on it. Nice car
I am your neighbour. I don't hate you..lol
Sounds awesome!
Coolest neighbor ever!
That`s awesome
Gonna put an X pipe on her?
Ya I miss my 68 Valiant, started with a 340 single four barrel 4 speed, then dropped a built 68 Hemi in it with two fours and solid rocker assembly with gear drive, and yeah shit went sideways after that. Mid tens in the quarter mile, And forty grand later 158 miles an hour. I’m 68 and this video give me a reason to do another one. Looks and sounds really good.
Wanna be my neighbor lol. One sweet ride man!!!
The neighbors might hate you but it would be music to my ears but I'm a different kind of neighbor I guess
Not a Mopar guy but I can't help but love challengers & darts. You've done the Mopar camp proud! The whole package is spot on.

That car sounds so good, even the grumpy dude down the street enjoys hearing it.

I always find that when the neighbors hate you, you're doing it right.
That sound is the sound of freedom.
Life long Chevy guy but as time goes by I appreciate all of the old cars now. The old Mopar cars had some really good body styling and the Dart was one of my favs. I still have my first car that I got when I was 16. It's a 1970 Nova coupe that originally had inline 230 6 and a three speed. Saved my money up and my dad and I swapped in a 327 and Muncie 4 speed. I will probably do some kind of stroker in it even though the 327 has beem a really good motor, It just never had a lot of low end torque.
Brings tears of joy, hearing that sound...can remember my install of Headman headers on my 69 Roadrunner and the fire up...my mom was none to happy....what a thrill....your car sounds Awesome!
I used Headman headers on my 69 GTX during the mid 1970's. Des Moines, Iowa
@@black_David_Frost. back in 68 my high school buddy built his GTX and it sounded just like this and we had great fun annoying all the neighbors hahahaha i am in my 70's and can only dream of those days
Such a beautiful machine and so pristine! My father had a Dodge Dart back in the day and he used to race camaros. I will have to show him this at the age of 70 haha! He will still be watching like a 6 year old boy at a candy store.
My Dad bought a 69 GTS brand-new and was racing Camaro's with it aswell .Pearl white with a black interior .I wasn't even born yet until 71 lol.The stories and pics I was shown have always had me liking the darts although I'm a Chevy guy lol.

Same here, always liked Chevys because that's what I grew up wrenching on. However, Most of these old Mopars, Fords, and others are so Desirable that I would NOT hesitate to buy one if given the chance. Not to mention, anything set-up as a Pro Street car is just AWESOME! When I was a High School kid in the late 70's, I'd drive the 1 1/2 hours from my house to Maple Grove raceway and race brackets on the weekends. If I was winning, the races would go till 10 or so at night. It gets pretty cold in October / November up in the mountains, so instead of taking the ramps out of my trunk and putting the exhaust back on the open headers, I'd drive home, down the Pennsylvania Turnpike with open headers, then get back to my house around midnight or later with the open headers...I was the youngest guy in the neighborhood, so I was always the topic of conversation... 🙂
Sounds like a good time! Lots more on the channel, check it out!

The '67 thru '69 Darts are in my top 5 cars of all time. Imagine, the humble Dart which in '68 became one of the great 1/4 mile predators of all time.
Big power, small bock, even better !
PS, great color.

Reminds me of my Mom's 69 Dodge Dart Swinger. Replaced the slant six with a 318,
put in a shift kit and sported that as my daily driver...
Thanx Mom !
Nicely done. Growing up the were two cars that stood out from all the rest. One a Mustang and the other a brilliant blue and silver metal flake painted Dodge Dart. You brought those metback. Thanks.
I think everyone is nervous at this point. I know I was after I installed my Brenspeed supercharger. 76 pages of instructions later after 6 days of work I was almost ready. Last couple of things were filling the new cooling system for the supercharger and loading the new tune into the ECU. It was a pretty complex job for a person doing it for the first time. More electrical work than I expected, right down to moving some wire locations on the EUC connector. There were 3 ECU connectors and the smallest one was something like 40 pins. De-pinning and moving some of those wires to new pin locations in one of the large connectors was way more than I had bargained for. There were other connectors that required de-pinning and moving wires around. There was new wiring for the new boost-a-pump and the coolant pump for the supercharger. New intake manifold, new throttle body, new fuel rails, new spark plugs, new belt system, an additional radiator, supercharger head-unit and new tune. So much to go wrong. Turning the key for the first time was a nail biter. So many things running through my head. It started on the first turn of the key. I let it run for 20 minutes, checking for leaks, over-heating, smoke out of the exhausts. Nothing.
So, I put the front bumper back on plus all the other parts that connected to it and took it out for a test run on the freeway. Everything was going good, so I gave it half throttle and suddenly I could smell coolant and steam was piling out from under the hood. I started back home, keeping a close eye on the cylinder head temp gauge. When it got high enough to go into limp mode, I shut it down to cool. I nursed it back to the near-by gas station, where I typically bought my gas. Been there hundreds of times. The woman would not lend me a bucket to fill the rad!! Company policy. No lending out tools, not even the floor washing bucket. Not even if I gave her $60 to keep until I brought the bucket back. I had to continue on, low on coolant
Thereafter, I shut it down before it went into limp mode. I was about 3 minutes from home normally. 45 minutes later it was back in the garage. There was coolant all over the engine. Impossible to see the source. So I filled it back up with coolant, so I could see where it was leaking from. No luck. It wasn’t leaking. WTF?
I called a friend to look in the engine bay while I ran the throttle. Still no leak! Then I gave it a good dose of throttle a bam, coolant everywhere. A clip-on coolant connector was the culprit. Only this time it came right off, so we could see where the leak came from. After clipping it back on and refilling the coolant again, we ran another test. No leak.
Of all the things I did, to install that supercharger, I must have not fully engaged that one clip. I must have pushed down only hard enough to get one side of the clip, clipped down. So there was no leak, except under lots of throttle. Just that one little thing and I could have cooked that engine. I tried not to think of all the other things I could have made a tiny, but fatal mistake on.
Took me hours to wash all that smelly coolant out of the engine bay.
Sounds BADASS!! Great job on the rebuild, really enjoy the videos, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to seeing some results at the track.

I had a 68 Dart GTS with 340 4bbl and 4 speed. It was a very nice and fairly strong car. It liked 302 Fords and most 396 Chevys, Most stock small blocks were not much competition for it. Thanks for the video and good luck with your efforts.
Awesome looking car, open headers old school sounds great, and the color is perfect 👌
Sounds great! Was wondering where you've been, but you've been busy. Re: fuel line: the braid section between the 2 bowl tubes is a tad short. Can tell by way the braid is distorting. Just like with elec wire, u don't want to pull it taut between 2 hard points...won't live with temp variations, vibration, etc.. Add 3/8" and let it bow a bit between bowls and you'll be golden. (Don't want to be watching a fire vid) :) Rock on!
Glad to see it moving under it's own power! Sounds great! Can't wait for your first track day video.
On a side note. When I built my first race 340 for my 71 Demon back in 1973 I really pissed of my old next door neighbor when I fired it up and broke in the flat tappet cam. He was like a grandfather to me but that day he hated my guts! He was a big man and he ran over and told me to shut it off! I said I couldn't. He didn't know about cam break in? I thought he was going to pull me out through the window! He actually died that summer from a heart attack. I felt bad but it had to be done. He never spoke to me again. My mom wasn't too happy either.😂
Love it! Super clean and a great color! Excellent!

Good to know I'm not the only one driving around at damn near 16 volts! lol saw your voltmeter. My regulator took a crap so I've been driving around at 16 to 18V, nothing on fire yet, apart from my ignition system which is probably loving it! Do you have an internally regulated alternator?

There isn't anything wrong with ur fuel line
I've had the same issue many times. It just takes a little bit of time for the seals and fittings to adjust and work like they should
Car sounds good tho man
I'd be a little concerned that it's happening at such low "carburetor" fuel pressure levels. Probably under or about 10 psi? Too far back for me to remember those days. LOL
Could there be a manufacturing fault though? I know that it's possible: even Volkswagen group had problems with their aluminum wheels leaking air...through the aluminum!! They had manufacturing defects in their production with the material itself ending up being too porous which leads to letting air through the seemingly intact wheels!
@@pistonburner6448 we r talking about a Fuel Line not wheels
@@mikewilhelm5170 Yes. I know. I was talking about manufacturing defects and used the wheels as an example.
