Rest in power Michaela😢 She was amazing in this movie
I am so touched by her death. Like I tear up when I think about it. I don’t know why. I don’t dance anymore but when I was in the thick of training 10 years ago I looked up to her so much.
My son was a dancer. He's passed away now. I loved this movie. It took me back to happier times of hopping, jumping, spinning, contortions, slides, falls, excitement, tears, hope.
I'm 17 and I started taking ballet last year. I'm really bad and just a beginner, but I don't care, it is never never never EVER to late to start taking ballet. I'm so glad that I started :) if you're reading this don't worry about age, we all only live once!
I want to see this so bad... I read taking flight on Michaela... her story is amazing... she inspires me to go to dance class every week💜
Kayla Steffen me too! I love the book and i really wanna watch the movie
I've gotta go stretch now...
Miko is such an inspiration!
She has since quit ballet and is a researcher at UCSF.
i was dumbfounded when i found myself crying, dancing is so amazing, inspirational, and full of emotion, i have always wished that i could have taken ballet as a child, but my family was and still is poor and there was no dance studio/class in or near my town, the basic ballet i know, i've learn in color guard (which is first and for most, dance)
When you love something enough, NOTHING is too much. :)
I always watch this before i go on stage
thats a amazing idea
it is never to late to learn ballet no matter how old you are. If you missed it as child it is ok just get up find a adult ballet beginner class. I learned ballet two years ago and it was difficult at first but it got better. I have learned from great dancers who danced for years and did it since they were young. It is never to late it wont hurt to try
Love this movie! I have watched it over and over!
people really have no idea how much dedication and time goes into being a dancer, & I am so happy that this documentary is showing the world just how competitive and rigorous the dance world is:) & I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE THIS MOVIE THIS FRIDAY!! EXCITEDDD!
THE BEST DOCUMENTARY I've ever seen!
woah i got chills just from watching the trailer
This is srsly my favorite movie. ♡
chills throughout the whole 2 min. video.
Watching this I still get chills
Joan is the best, this movie is so amazing!
I got this movie for Christmas yesterday and just watched it today. Next to Center Stage, it's now my favorite movie about ballet! Beautiful film with wonderful stories. :)
This movie inspires me to realise my dream of becoming a professional dancer :)
I saw your comment after 8 years. Are u a professional dancer??
@@lydiagioti6911 Yes! Although after 2 years in the working field I realized that it's not really for me after all. I have had some amazing experiences though, for which I'm eternally gratefull :)
5 words: I NEED TO SEE THIS.
I just saw it and it was so...REAL! From the first 15 min. I burst into tears. They did an amazing work !! :')
This is art and took a lot of kids life
As a person who has had a major respect for ballet since I was little, it really amazes me when ppl dismiss it as "easy" or not challenging. I'm just like try it for a DAY and see how easy it is lol
I saw your comment after 7 years. I really wanna know if you still dance 😋
Michaela DePrince RIP
i saw this movie...best dance movie i have ever seen!
This was the BEST documentary ever!
First Black Swan, then First Position... Ballet is finally getting the attention it deserves :DDD
This is the amount of time and childhood given up in any sport, etc that is required to be successful by children these days. Although I grew up with extensive dance, NOT this extensive, but my youngest son has given up the same amount of hours for his hockey goalie career, 6 days a week not a seasonal thing as many would presume. There is OFF-ice (training in the gym), nutrition classes, private goalie training, in addition to on-ice practices and games.Crazy, but he loves it! I'll support him!
I watched this on Netflix amazing
OMG I'm crying. So many emotionssss.
i want to see it, these people are precious....
This was such a great movie. Everybody needs to see this.
this movie is so beautiful
Rebecca made me cringe but the rest were good
Watched this movie twice-better ever time!
Loved this, reminded me of my old ballet training days :)
Great movie.
That Colombian guy was HOT!
I love dance so much.. This trailer actually made me cry!
i took ballet from 5 to 12 years, that was the best time of my life, but my life changed and i had to stop. (((
gives me goose-bumps!
It was a stellar movie for a first-time filmmaker! And grand!
I cannot wait to see this. I'm already tearing up!
omg
Looks really interesting! Hope I can get to watch this.
Also, the melody starting around 0:23 is incredibly beautiful!
Will they show at the cinema? I wanna watch it!! But by myself, 'cause my family don't want me watching ballet related stuff, they think that's the reason I wanna go back to ballet, 'cause of watching many vids... who cares I wanna watch 'em and I wanna learn to dance toooo x)
omg, I can't wait until this comes out in Australia!!!! my friends and I are already planning to see it
Amazing!
This makes me feel so insignificant as a dancer.
SO beautiful
i am going to see this as a ballet theory assignment and i hope i get some inspiration!
it's like watching my childhood played back at me o_0
omg i wanna see this SOOOO BADDDDD!!!
OOOMMMGGG THAT LOOKS SOOO GOOODDD!!!! LIKE UGH! ITS AMAZING!

It s realy a hard way when I was younger I did Ballet too but then I had to chose Ballet or horse becase you get O legs if your riding ,but loved my horse so I dance only at Home .. : )
I ride full time and dance every week. you could do both.
I started dancing ballet when I was three, but I had to stop dancing due to problems with my achilles tendon. I miss it so much :(
Hit too close to home.... Balling
That was crazy way they move
Im a ballet dancer, and i just got on pointe, but it hurts and its really hard to bend like that

That boy from colombia seems to be so sweet.
It looks amazing!

and then fourth position,hehehe
honestly this is so nice, its so inspiring:)
i just wanna be like then,
Thank you...
This is an AMAZING documentary! Made me feel like a terrible dancer./: It's on Netflix, too, though! (instant steam) So ya'll who have Netflix can enjoy.(:
it's on on demand :)
No, but she was a Chinese rep. to the American Grande Prix (yes, I'm nearly 100% sure I spelled that right) of 2011/12, so I suggest looking up those lists under China. Good luck.(:
i wanna watch it so badly :(((((
I think I would have enjoyed this documentary more if it didn't rely on the easy stereotypes for emotional effect (the hard-working Latin American immigrant who is trying to find a better future for his family; the girl from an African war zone who is lucky she was adopted by American parents; the overbearing Asian mother who asks too much perfection from her kids)
That mom wasn't too overbearing, in my opinion. She realized that she was putting too much pressure on her kids, and backed off them more.
vicktor teaches at my dance school and he never said hes been famous
*Grand.
Yeah, she was amazing! I hope she gets a contract soon!
If you go on the discountdance website and type in turn, you will see the turn board :)
since 2012, I've been wondering who the dancer is at 2:06 in the video
I‘m sorry but idk the name...
so true.
of course i'm interseted, that would be awesome! :D
I've been dancing for nine years, doing russian vaganova syllabus. I can testify to how difficult and stressful and painful it is.
wow looks very inspiring
Ballet is so wonderfull!!! It is amazing how kids can learn all this things. I really admire them!!!! I want to be a ballerina but for me is really too late... :/ I am so angry that I am didn´t want go to ballet classes when I was younger. So if you are young and you want to be ballerina do not hesitate because is better try it than be in future sad that you didn´t like me!
PS: sorry for my english
Awesome that you got to learn some though! I was in color guard myself (plus winter guard) and absolutely loved it. Are you still interested in ballet? I know some great online resources that our coaches used to provide us with for independent practice over summer. Free of course :)
Awwww.... Realmente me quiero ver esa pelicula.. Lo es? Es una pelicula? o documental? Igual me lo quiero ver :D
just saw this today :) i love ballet but honestly i would rather pursue Irish dance
very good
I have always been the gumby in my ballet class...
Compared to these dancers I am as stiff as a rock! LOL
Agreed!

That seems pretty tight!
