      This is what the Arts can do for people. Whether it be dance, music, visual art, or any other art. It takes the pain and all the other aspects of the human condition and becomes a means for making these aspects beautiful and meaningful in an eternity of ways. It makes the essence of our human reality transcendent. You are right, it doesn't happen for all of us because as humans we each are meant for and made for different things. She had the spirit of dance already in her which is what caused her to recognize what the magazine showed her. Or perhaps the power of whatever made that magazine come into her hands put it in her. She could have recognized it and not have been able to carry it out in her life, whether it be because of circumstance or because the effect on her brain and psyche would not have allowed it, and that would not have been her fault. But somehow all the elements came together in such a way that she was able to carry it out. This may have saved her. She may still have unhealed trauma for the rest of her life, but at least she has dance, and the love of the people around her now. Beautiful story.

    I’ve never been so angry in my life watching this. I’ve got through 73 years without hatred, but I felt hatred for the people who tried to destroy this little girl, this story is truly appalling. How this little child got out of Africa alive was astounding. The downside to this is how many other children are dead, enslaved or forgotten?

    • @kevinkinal9557

      I couldn't even finish watching. This Is the evil of religion. Its the people who think of themselves as the most moral (gods followers) that "knew" she was the "devils child", and treated her so sickeningly. As the saying goes "with or without religion good people can behave well and bad people can do evil, but for good people to do evil - that takes religion". And I would clarify by saying it is because religion gives people false certainty, they "know" who god thinks is evil, so they kill that person, and orphan a girl like this. WIthout religious certainty they wouldn't do it.

    • @Zazezoo
      @Zazezoo Рік тому

      Exactly!!! These orphanages are only there to oppress these poor kids. People who start them have good intentions but don’t vet the workers or some pretend to be good/ caring!
      The women/ ppl working there are so vile and only there for the money. It’s a common thing going on until today in the third world, not just Africa.

      I'm not sure if you intended to, but the way you phrased this makes it seem like you think all of Africa is terribly dangerous and violent. I mention it because there are many harmful stereotypes about Africa, the continent, and it's important not to perpetuate false narratives.
      The events she described took place, I believe, in Sierra Leone during the civil war. The war ended in 2002. Sierra Leone now ranks at 50 on the Global Peace Index, well above the United States (ranked 129th out of 163 countries). Many African nations surpass the US in terms of safety.

    • @donnaknudson7296

      Yes, every place sure has its downfalls, but for people like her, going from a place that demonizes certain physical differences to a place that generally does not outcast differences like her's is what saved her. (I mean, she was outcast as the "devil child" , and often these children die and suffer terribly because of it. Sadly there are many of these children in her part of the world who have that fate.) As much as people love to put down Western civilization you can't deny that Western civilization is the most inclusive of people's differences. Of course it's not perfect. But compare Western civilization (US, Canada, Europe, Australia etc ) to many other cultures and I think you will find that we really are the most inclusive and tolerant of differences. I think the degree to which some people want to demonize and destroy Western culture is a serious mistake, and if it keeps going this way it will be our downfall; and the world will be worse off because of it. Yes, suffering and abuse happen everywhere and I would never try to invalidate anyone's individual experience or their pain. But for people to say that every civilization is ok but Western civilization is terrible makes no sense. I am not saying that you particularly think this way, because I don't know, but your comment reminded me of this. But yes, I agree, there is suffering and abuse everywhere. We are all humans and I think we can say that suffering is one of many things we all have in common

      @@1jazzyphae If you think I missed your point then why don't you tell me what that point is? Maybe you missed my point? I did write that I didn't really know how you thought. What you wrote was that, "The saddest part this is a problem worldwide. Look at how children in America are treated". I'm saying that for her particular problem, western countries are probably the best place for children like her to be because those countries tend to be the most inclusive of people's differences. You were saying that what she went through is a problem worldwide and then out of all the countries in the world used America as an example. I am saying that what happened to her generally does not happen in the west. Children in the west generally are not outcast as a "devil's child" or something terrible like that. Maybe some sick individuals or immature children do, but not as a whole group, whom the child depends on for survival and love. The Western ethos makes a point of being inclusive of differences. I'm not saying it's perfect, in case that is what you are thinking I am saying. I am speaking comparatively and for children like her. As far as the rest of what you said I totally agree.

      @@donnaknudson7296 my point is no child should have to suffer this fate. Orphans including those here in the States are starved/abused to death. The system often fails children and we see the horrors daily. This has nothing to do with a country or how inclusive or tolerant it is. We have an issue with children including here facing the same horrors in a broken system. That's my point.

    “Much easier, to not care about anybody because they die & leave me...” So deeply powerful, & heartbreaking seeing this taking it all in. As someone who’s struggled with lots of loss, abandonment, also adopted. This courageous girls story touched me unimaginable all the horror she endured, along with her parents. But she survived, which is so inspiring. I tell myself till this day this lately through my sadness at times being parentless though adopted. If I’ve made it this far after my own that says something. #VeryPowerful She’s a beautiful girl who has certainly risen from her suffering heartache and loss...🧡🙏🏾👩🏾‍🦱

    I agree with all the comments on here. From tragedy and pain to success and love but the one truth I have taken from the story is that she was born to be a ballerina. The way she moved when she danced was so graceful and poised and her face was completely at peace. Keep dancing young sister. I salute you.

    I am in tears. So many different emotions at once. As a mother I am angry for the beginning of her life. I’m sad for the loss of her parents. I’m sad she had to feel so much rejection. But I’m in love with the love her new family has for her. Some people are jus meant to be together. I think her second mother is her soulmate. She understood her from the second they were together yet didn’t even speak the same language ❤️

    Each one teach one really, that indeed the beauty is deeply rooted from the inside, not by only what our eyes can see. And if one would think of throwing in the towel, giving up and just simply have no ounce of hope inside, think of those climbers of great peaks who would persevere and constantly want to reach desired goal.
    Just know that you are beautiful just as you are, and as much as the world would give up on you, never ever give up on yourself.
