I got the whole system at once...sensors and link. So far, I have four rounds with them and I am really impressed. Everything works very well with only a few adjustments I need to make during a round, almost all having to do with putting . I will say this about the Link though...it's easy to lose! It fell off my belt twice during yesterday's round and I was lucky to find it. The first time I finished the hole and looked at the app and it said the link lost connection. When I went to look at it, it was gone! Not a cheap bit of kit! After my initial panic, I noticed that the last shot it recorded was from the fairway and I was able to go back to the spot and there it was. After the second time it happened, I clipped it to the edge of my pocket instead, which didn't seem as secure, but actually turned out to be. So there's my tip: clip it to your pocket and not the belt!
That’s for that Frank and yeah I agree that clip is so easy to loose. It actually works best on your pocket rather than belt. Another tip that a lot of users (I actually just use my phone as I’m used to it being in my pocket) are doing is to attach a small lanyard clip to the device and then clip that to your belt as a backup. These clips are very cheap (2bucks on Amazon) and will save you in the long run. Thanks for the feedback and for watching. 🙏🙏
Just bought it today. Got the bundle with link for £234 . Top review. If buying from Arccos get your order in as they are saying it’s a couple of weeks before dispatch currently.
@@cartersmithgolf I need to get the caddie up and running, as course management is a weak point of mine. Former captain at my club absolutely swears by it. He’s always out first, so hopefully he will set the pin positions 😂 That is by far the best review of the product.
Cheers pal glad it helped. That’s a result having an early bird. lol get those first 6 rounds in and you’ll be off and running. Any questions feel free to ask. BTW you might want to check out the Facebook group it’s full of good stuff.
Awesome video and informations, thks a lot, only one question that bother me,how the arccos react on the driving range, since we don’t play on the course ,do we drain the batterie from those sensor for nothing or is there a mode to disabled them all for that purpose…
I practice a lot throughout the off season and I’m still using my original set I had a few years ago BUT the caps are so easy to screw off the clubs (if you get the stub version rather than the grips,I recommend this) you can remove them at the end of each season or session if required. Hope that helps and thanks for watching.
Best Accros review yet and I’m pretty well sold. My only problem is I hate fiddling with my phone on the course and been told it pairs with the Apple Watch. Obviously the data is limited but I can’t find any reviews on the watch and connection reliability etc.
Thank you for posting this. I just got fit for new Ping G425 irons. This is by far and away the best explanation of what Across is, how it works, and the information it can supply. Thanks again :)
Great review! Couple questions/observations. How does it get environmental conditions (wind, humidity, temp, altitude)? When you go against the caddy and screw up, does it say "I told you so"? Yuou mentioned it gets rid of highs and lows for each club. I imagine you can do this manually also? For example chipping or pitching and shot shapes that may require less than full swing. I have Cobra clubs with the sensors pre-installed but have not used yet.Now for the caddy I guess it all comes down to whether you want access to your phone at all times to take advanteage of the features or be oulling it out of the cart or bag when you want to check something.
It taps in to the local weather for the area and gets a GPS of the hope direction then adds the altitude/humidity if there’s any and calculates accordingly. 🤯🤯 all too much for brain to handle. Yeah there’s nothing more smug than the caddie is always right. lol you don’t need to strike off smaller shots or chip shots as it ends up with a percentage data capture that far outweighs the amount of time we hit chip and runs etc. This also means if it gets some good numbers from your 7 iron the rest can be calculated until proven different. If you don’t have the link you will need your phone in your pocket so it can get an accurate shot position. It’s cross referenced with the grips etc. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. 👍👍🙏🙏
Thinking about buying one very soon + the extra data clip as I don’t carry my max size iphone in my pocket when I play. Didn’t hear any cons mentioned with exception of where you hold the club in your hand. Only negative would be needing the subscription service on gen 3 system but your first year is included in purchase. After that for me the sub would be about $145-150 per year in our currency. Break that down to about 15/mnth is worth it if you play once per week. Think I’m sold just to have my own playing data with a real golf ball versus range ball.
Hey Harry, I have to say I literally wouldn’t play without mine. It’s been such a fantastic and quick insight into my shot patterns and tendencies. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Thanks for watching
I am more or less going to repeat the other reviews. This is the best one that I have viewed. Straightforward, clear and excellent examples Well done. I just played my very first round with Arccos (hated the results, LOL, but loved what it "told" me).
Just ordered this. One question though...my home course has a prevailing wind. Its frequently a 2/3/4 club wind, either against or behind. So my club distances vary wildly depending on whether its a hole into the wind, or against the wind. I'm really interested to see how it caters for this... Some days a 150m par 3 is my 5i (no wind), sometimes its my 3h or even 3w wind against. Plus going with the wind my approaches are really really hard to hold the green. I end up hitting a 9i short and going out the back... :-(
Sounds a tough track, I will say that it should still give you accurate distances as it uses the currant weather to calculate each shot. So if it’s a down wind shot it will account for that and then leave you with correct yardages when you play other courses etc.
I’ve recently purchased a cobra rad speed driver obviously it came with the arccos system in the grip, went on to pair it and I now have a 90 day trial and they’re sending out the stubs for the rest of my clubs for nothing! Amazing
@@cartersmithgolf thank you for this video mate I’m new still to golf and just thought that it might help show me where I can improve and your video done that and more, you’ve earned yourself a subscriber
Had the Sensors & Link package off my wife for Xmas, she discussed it with my coach, don’t know who’s more excited him or me!, we’re on lockdown at the moment in Wales, but really looking forward to using this kit, excellent UA-cam Video by the way.
Great stuff Paul, yeah it’s a fantastic insight into your game and your coach can use the coach area also to work on your improvement. Keep in touch and maybe we can get a game together in 2021. 👍👍
@@cartersmithgolf , Hi Stuart, thanks for replying and the invitation to potentially play at some point next year, I’ve set up my sensors & downloaded the app, just need to be able to play!, I feel like a kid who’s had a game and no batteries!.
Carter-Smith Golf: Great review! A few questions about sensors: - How long will they last, as in, will the sensors stop working after X years? - I saw on the box for the sensors that the first year is free; am I correct that it will cost ~$155/year for each subsequent year to use them? - I'm interested to know people's experience with the Arccos sensors + Apple Watch (and keeping the phone/app in the golf cart). Will that setup work without the Link? Thank you!
My censors have lasted 2.5 years, I haven’t used the Apple Watch but I hear it’s pretty good. Link works great. You do find that you use your phone for every shot (caddie suggestions and distances etc) so it’s something that you very quickly get used to in your pocket.
great review. I have used this system for 3 years (came with a free year with my cobra clubs). LOVE IT. can't imagine playing without it. Love reviewing my game after i play. i used caddy a lot playing alone, then feel more confident when play with others.
I've just bought a Cobra SZ set with these sensors built in the grips. I've applied for the extra free sensors and bought a caddie link as I'm a high handicapper coming back to golf and I didn't want to be playing with my phone to begin with. I just want to concentrate on my set up and striking the ball. I'm looking forward to using this system and your review tells us in a very simple way how it all works. Thanks for the video!
Good choice Stuart, I’ve used mine for nearly 3 years (batteries still going strong) and I wouldn’t play without it. When your up and running connect with me on the “friends” in Arccos and I’ll check out what your up to and give you some help. 👍👍
An excellent thorough review. I was reticent to buy the Arccos system because I’ve had an iPhone 12 in my pocket it’s not a great idea but now they have the link I can just put that in my pocket. I’ve tried all the shot scope version three but found it lacking and could hardly see the screen and bright sunlight, it was a bit of a pain to use. This looks a far better system to just hit and forget
I can’t rate it highly enough. I wouldn’t play without mine tbh. You always need to make small teaks after the round but I even like doing that. I use my phone for every shot I play (it suggest clubs and strategy etc) so I’ve got very used to having the phone in my pocket. Just yesterday I played a course I’ve never played before and it’s clubbing was faultless, far better than me after 30years of elite golfing experience.
Great Video. I've just got a cobra hybrid with the system built in so had a few questions. I'm assuming the system in just one of your clubs is pretty useless unless I now get the stubs for the rest of my clubs? secondly is there a subscription cost for the App in the UK?
Hi, you can use the app as a gps shot tracker but you will have to mark your shits manually which kinda defeats the object. If you decide to get the Stubbs you will get the subscription free (good time now as 25% off). Thanks for watching 👍🙏🙏
@@cartersmithgolf Thanks for the reply. Arr I was under the impression that the app was a subscription service. I don't want to have to mark my shits manually lol. Thanks again.
Thanks for the support Nigel and great move on the purchase you won’t be disappointed. I literally wouldn’t play without mine. I’ve learnt so much about my game in the 2 years I’ve been using it. 👍👍🙏
Great review. Only questions I have are replied to below (relating to pin placement) - in your video, when you show the Link (which is pricey), I can see the Apple Watch (or a watch option) - have you tried this and if yes, how does it work? I can use my Apple Watch instead of having the mobile phone in my front pocket, that would be far easier, I'm assuming
Hey Bruce, I haven’t tested the watch (I’ve had a few requests now so will do a vid on that soon) but 2 of my colleagues swear by it. They use it just like you say, with the phone in the bag etc. Thanks for watching and hope it’s been some help. There is a discount link if you decide to give it a go. I literally wouldn’t play without mine. 👍👍
@@cartersmithgolf Thanks for the quick reply... one more question, if I may... how does this work in the case where you need to hit a provisional (asking for a friend) and in the case of choked-down 7-8 irons chip and runs around the green.. does that not skew the distance data? Will start saving up and hopefully benefit from the reduction soon
Chop and run shots are taken out by the AI, it knows if your punching shots as your main shots will be the basis of your distances. Provisionals are also edited out with a very quick swipe (your friend will be fine ;-)). Even if you take a 2nd practice shot it knows.
Just bought those and can't weight to try. i had the sensor in my cobra driver I really liked it but changed to a different grip. Question? How do you zoom in on the shot tracer?
I literally wouldn’t enjoy playing without mine. Been using it exclusively for 3 years now. I’ve learnt so much about my tendencies. My shot tracers I do in house using visual FX. I prefer the camera movement (although it’s quite time consuming). Thanks for watching 🙏🙏👍
Enjoyed the video. Similar to you I like switching clubs in and out of my bag. Does the system allow multiple club entry options? Example entering in two 3 woods (+3 wood) & (15 deg). Would it register both or does it fall under 1 heading of 3 wood and average combined use of each club?
Just ordered, I’m excited!! How exactly do you enter putting. Do you tell it how far away from the pin you are for each putt? So walk off the distances?
Hi Jonathan, you won’t be disappointed it’s an amazing insight to your own game and then that against players of a better standard. The putting, basically it will still do a fairly good job of marking your putts but you will need to place the flag on the app (just tap the flag icon and move it’s really quick and simple). You can then fine tune your putts as sometimes if you have a couple of short putts it’s hard for the system to pick up. You can do all this visually later or just after finishing. Let me know how you get on. 👍👍🙏
@Paul Mcintosh hi Paul, no this doesn’t effect your clubbing with these kind of shots. It will obviously take the majority so as long as you use your 7 iron a fair amount in its normal distance it will not count knock down or chip shots.
Yes Jeff that’s it. It does have a go at that for you but if your interested in your putting stats you need to just dial that in. If another across player has been out before you then the pins will be already set. 👍👍
Very good review and well explained certainly help your golf. My only worries are you going to be spending so much time looking at the data it could create more slow play and usually with all these gadgets they start to play up, just a couple of points.
I do get you, but tbh I’ve found that on course it actually speeds things up as it’s doing all those calculations and simply giving you a club and a number based on your own play. It’s nice to get on with it and just play. Thanks for watching. 🙏🙏👍
Great review - sounds like info that would be really helpful for me. Does anyone know if there is a cost to use the system like a monthly subscription fee?
Hi, if you buy the Stubbs you get a year free then it’s $99 per year there after. I wouldn’t play without it, I’ve learnt so much about my game in the 3 years I’ve been using it. 👍👍
Great review, the most detailed and informative I have seen on this product. Question, I have the Odyssey Stroke Lab putter with the special weighting in the Superstroke grip. The Arccos website specifically says the putter grip will not accept the adapter. Is there a way to manually enter your putts ?
Hi, yes you can very easily add putts, if you don’t putt at all it will give you 2 putts on each green for you to either edit on the next tee or when you return home. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for dropping by. 🙏🙏
Outstanding review. The review alone helped me to make the decision. I appreciate the Grip vs Smart Sensor comparison and putting that into context. I renew my grips prior to ever season. The sensor option is best in this case rather than the grips. Thank you.
I thoroughly enjoyed the review. It was honest, straightforward and engaging. The graphics of how it looks on the phone is amazing. I clearly understood what needs to be done and how user friendly it will be on the course. The only thing I did not understand was how it (Arcoss smart sensor) measures the distance carried. Is it that one has to hit the ball and go to the spot where it landed and the system then captures the distance for each club? So, as each of the clubs are being used over time, it creates a database and then makes the suggestions/recommendations.
Yes you are exactly right. You just hit your shots and it plots everything from the last time you struck the ball. The data it collects has moved on from this video so now it’s even more in depth. I should do another update video. Thank you for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed it. 🙏🙏
That was a great review. Just bought for all the reasons you spoke about and primarily to know how far I strike each club which has been a guesstimate for years. Especially during swing struggles and practice frequency. Really helped me. Thanks.
Your welcome Owen, I can’t speak highly enough of the system. I wouldn’t play a round without it. Best of luck and make sure you connect with me through the app so I can take a look at your progress. 👍👍
Great video Stuart. I’ve just got the smart sensors for Xmas. Just a couple of questions. Would you recommend start collect data now even though the conditions aren’t the best I.e balls plugging ?? When using the gps what is the wind icon for below the smart caddie distance ??
Yes I’d recommend starting straight away as the AI in the app constantly adjusts. Tbh this time of the year is great for getting your carry distances as that’s the info picked up because of the zero roll. The wind icon is the distance including this factor (taken from the live weather station). Great choice btw and feel free to connect with me on there so I can see what your up too. 👍👍
A question i have, in terms of club recommendation, how many rounds do you think you need to have until it recommends a club for you. I was thinking many its needs around 10 rounds to get accurate data? Be great to hear
Hey Greg, it’s obviously quite dependant on the rounds you play(for instance you may only hit wedges if your on a shorter course etc) but generally it kicks in after a few rounds. It will do calculations on some of your clubs and “suggest” based on that until you’ve hit all the clubs. It learns and gathers your stats until you have hit all your clubs multiple times. Then it will be the most accurate caddy in the world drawing upon every shot in every situation you hit there after. Thanks for watching 🙏🙏👍
Wow, best review I’ve seen on the arccos. Did you look at the shotscope v3 as well? I think one or the other makes sense, but not having either yet, it feels like the shotscope makes more sense just given the integration into the watch. Any thoughts between the two?
Hi Eugene, I’m waiting for the Shotscope v3 so I can give it a review. I’ve used ARCCOS for 3 years now and have learnt so much about my game. It’s helped me focus my practice and highlighted all my weaknesses. I wouldn’t play without it. Looking forward to doing a comparison. Thanks for watching 🙏
Very good review. I’ve watched a number of reviews and this is the best one I’ve seen as far as structure for fully explaining the system. Just ordered for my Pings. I wish I’d realised I could have got grips with it already built in, but hey ho, as the sensors are free as a Ping owner it’s no big deal. I’m looking forward to using the system
Thanks for watching and you won’t be disappointed. I would play without mine. It’s become my favourite piece of kit in the last 10 years. So insightful to your game and once you have some rounds under your belt it helps you so much Especially if you are playing away from your known course.
They are but you aren’t allowed to use slope allowance. Arccos has a “competition” mode that hides the information that is not allowed. Thanks for watching 👍🙏
Hi Tony, I played the Game golf system for a full season and really didn’t get on with it. I followed that with now 3 seasons of Arccos and literally wouldn’t play without it. I’m confident that these guys are the leaders in this area. With development from Microsoft and the team they have I think it’s the side to be on going forward. 👍👍
@@cartersmithgolf Thank you for the reply! I went with the Arccos and just got it all set up. I am going to order the super stroke adapter for my putter. I did have another question... I have been using Golfshot on my iPhone and love the rangefinder on my watch. If I use the Link to track with Arccos, can I still use the rangefinder on my watch while playing? I am very excited to get out and try this.
superb job, my sz cobra irons came today and id already done some research on arcoss as was keen, but if id had seen ur video earlier id of pulled the trigger even earlier. bring it on. subscribed to you as well, gd job on this review, best iv seen by miles.
Thanks Scott and I have no doubt that you will love the system (I literally wouldn’t play without mine). Thanks for the sub and I hope you continue to enjoy the channel. 👍👍🙏🙏 btw any questions don’t hesitate to fire my way.
@@cartersmithgolf appreciate the reply pal. Iv gotta Q actually. Im a big numbers guy and as a newbie im going at golf pretty hard, my own boss so can put a few hours in a day, especially in the summer! I want to start tracking my swing speed and carry etc when practicing. Do you have a portable launch monitor, if so what one do you like? I am thinking the sc200+ as for £299 its not too bad and if i wanted to upgrade later I dont see me getting less that £199 for it. ill be doing a lot of range work to dial in my distances so arcoss wont be much hel p there, sadly, and i dont want to be hitting balls and guessing aimlessly. Any idea if at the range, with range balls, thatll effect the launch monitors stats? ie I believe the rull of thumb is -10%
I’ve just tested the Garmin G80 which was bearable ua-cam.com/video/w18kZ2p5J5o/v-deo.html not sure I’d fully recommend that tbh. Booking a session on a track man/GC Quad for a gap test would be the place to start. Then if you would like to keep an eye on your speed you can get a simple Doppler radar (they are about £100). It’s important to match up your range work with lie conditions on a course as this is a much bigger skill to have rather than speed. You only hit 18 shots a round from the tee and all the others are from vastly different lies and stances. Get out as much as possible and that will pay you back well.
@@cartersmithgolf solid advice pal, thanks. I am certainly a fan of being out on the course as the range means f all really, we all know it. But i am thinking i can take the portable unit around with me on the par 3 etc and use it to track my shots on grass
Thank you Ron, I literally wouldn’t play without mine and it’s been the same since the first Arccos video I did 2 years ago (that one is also on my channel). Thanks for watching 🙏🙏👍
Super late, but I have a question for anyone who has these.. if I got the arccos caddie sensors do I have to have the special grips? Or do they work on any grip?
Really helpful review! Do you know if the Apple Watch essentially does the same job as the Link? Just trying to figure out which bundle would be best for me.
Thanks Paul, tbh I wouldn’t go for the Apple Watch at the moment as they are still yet to get the integration good. The link works great (even thought I actually don’t use it as my phone is always in my pocket ready for me to use over every shot for distance etc). The watch should be better later this year. When I get the nod I will be testing it for you all. 👍👍
Eric, I can’t stress enough that if your younger and taking your golf to the next level you absolutely need your stats collected. This can be done without Arccos but I’ve tried all the systems and this is without doubt the best on the market. This information will help you to develop the weakest parts of your game and truly know your strong points. Please let me know how you get on and connect with me through the system. 👏👏👍👍👍
@@cartersmithgolf the most unfortunate thing for me is my coach won’t allow phones on the course during tournaments and I can’t afford the link at the moment so I won’t be able to collect stats during the tournament rounds at the moment
So there’s no way I can keep my phone in my pocket, I can’t deal with anything in my pockets, it gets into my head. That being said, you said that clip has a button. What is the button for and does the clip have a speaker that tells you what club to use or is it just for collecting data? Will I have to always refer to my phone to get the caddie suggestions?
Hi, yeah I was the same way at first but quickly got used to that however I have friends that now use the link because they couldn’t. The button on the link is for marking the flag position more accurately. The Apple Watch could be the solution as that has all the info on it. You will find that you may need more information than just the club as it tells you wind speed and multiple strategies to tackle the hole based on your form and patterns. The link and phone in a side pocket in the bag is great as you can do everything you need without the phone in the pocket. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching 👍👍
@@cartersmithgolf yeah..well I can’t stand wearing a watch either, so it looks like I’ll just have to get used to having the phone in my pocket..thanks man, it was a good review
Any thoughts on Garmin CT10 sensors as an alternative if you already have a Garmin watch? Saves carrying your phone around and you have the yardage data on your wrist.
I haven't tried the CT10 set up but if they are stress free i will always suggest collecting data. Im a pretty committed type of person and manually collecting data (which is obviously an option) wore me out which is why this system was a revelation. I enjoyed the Garmin G80 in my recent review but did find the GPS side of it a little "clunky" for want of a better word.
Thanks for this :). How many rounds did you approx need before the app would give meaningful advice? And how many rounds did you need before the smart club distances became meaningful to you? thanks
It kicks in after 4-6 rounds it’s pretty reliable but gets more accurate the more rounds you have. If your course requires you to play a full range of shots it sorts it out really quick.
How do you record punch shots out of the trees, etc. in Arccos? Seems that letting Arccos picking those up as normal shots would really skew club data.
@@cartersmithgolf Hmmmm interesting. I read on their help section that chips should be recorded as putts and then when you look at the putt listing for that hole you can change it to a chip. Not sure if you've had a different experience with chips. And yeah, when I went into my club stats I saw where there were some shots that were X'd out so apparently it does eliminate some duffs, etc. Very cool!
It really would Jamie yes. It’s absolutely crucial to know how far you can expect to hit a shot on average so even more so for a less consistent player. You can also see what you should address first to improve. 👍👍
Thanks Chris, great choice mate, I literally wouldn’t play without mine. There’s not a range feature at the moment but really you shouldn’t need it for that as it tracks real time conditions which is where you really need the numbers as that’s where the action happens. Enjoy and thanks for watching. 👍👍
Great review. Have you tried the Apple Watch app? Would like to see how the battery drain is, plus what info it gives on the watch screen. I like keeping the phone in the cart/bag and just getting basic info from watch.
The Apple Watch has a few different screens that you can scroll through. It gives you front, middle and back of the green with the recommended club on the main screen.
Hi Stuart well after watching this vid I have decided to buy the package set with the link and used the offer code so thats good. Now to see if helps me improve game management 👍
That’s great Chris, honestly I was reviewing some other apps this week and nothing is even close. I wouldn’t play without it. When your set up make sure you add me and I can check in and give you some feedback on your game.
Very interesting and extremely helpful. I have them installed in the grips of my new Cobra irons and I have just received the completer set. When lockdown ends for golf in a couple of weeks I'm ready to try Caddie and can't wait. Thank you.
You are welcome mate. It’s a bit of a deep dive but useful. I wouldn’t play without my Arccos now. I’ve learnt so much about my game and my tendencies. It’s been a massive help to my scoring.
Awesome review of the app. Do you have to play several rounds before the ask caddie feature works? Oh, does it know where trees are? JK 😆 That tends to be my biggest hazard.
It kicks in after about 5 rounds (this usually get a good picture of your shots) but it continues to learn your tendencies after every shot you play. You can play from any tee you like because it knows exactly where you hit every shot from. Thanks for watching 👍🙏🙏
There are small sensors in the tip of the grip (either plugs that attach to your existing grips or they sell full grips with them embedded). These notify the app when a shot is hit.
Thanks for a great review! Are the plugs affecting the feel and swingweight of the clubs (I think they are 7 grams each)? Is it something you can notice? Do you know if the grips with built-in sensors have the same extra weight in the tip end?
Thanks Lena, the Stubbs haven’t effected me other than just having that small extra plug in length. You very quickly get used to it and to be honest I actually miss them when I use another club. lol the grips are as normal and the swing weight is hardly effected.
Hi Seb, no that won’t effect anything. I hit balls for hours before and sometimes after. It is only activated when you get to the first tee (it knows). Glad it helped. I literally wouldn’t play without mine and I’ve been using it tor 3 years now. 👍👍👍
Great review! Recently upgraded from a 30 yr old set of blades to some new P770’s so need to relearn my yardages. Does it factor in the balls you hit at a range or only when you link it to the course? Thanks!
That’s a great set of clubs Charlie good choice(you may find my latest video of some interest). It will only factor shots that you can hit a second shot from. If the range is like a practice fairway you can get measurements but obviously if it’s a standard range it won’t know how far they have gone out there. Saying this it will (in a handful of rounds) get you dialled in pretty quickly then constantly readjust as you play more and more shots with the same irons.
Great review! Can't believe this video has less than 1k view. Link.. is it really worth the money? I love to get arccos but putting a phone in the pocket makes me hesitate. Subs!
Thanks tor the support. I’ve been playing Arccos for nearly 3 years now and wouldn’t play without it. With the new Link clip you can leave your phone in your bag or buggy. It’s a great addition. 👍👍
Great review, I have them ready to go. Just need the courses to open now. Couple of points to add to your review, there is a subscription element that’s worth noting. Also it works with Apple Watch if you don’t want the phone in your pocket (or so I’m told as I can’t get out on the course)
Should be fine as it’s been used a lot. Try again and if you have problems let me know and I’ll make a request to sort for you.

Great vlog, impressed! Gøad I stubled over this channel. Have yourself a new sub👊 May I ask how you track youre shots that way? Struggle with finding a good method. Best regards Bård Vassbø Jr. Golf With Baard /Norwegian Golf Vlogger
Hi, thanks for swinging by. I use a home grown VFX method to 3D track my shots. I like this method as I’m able to have the camera move and still get the tracer line stuck in space. I would say it’s very time consuming. 👍👍🙏🙏 will check your channel out also.
Hi Stuart, another very informative and professional review, especially as I had no idea these existed. One question are these allowed to be used in competitions ? I ask this because with a range finder, you must have the slope turned off, otherwise it illegal. It seems that this piece of kit gives you even more information than a range finder.
Hey Peter, it has a tournament mode that eliminates some of the illegal factors. Surprisingly things like weather etc stay on as that’s all ok. Slope is off as you rightly stated.
@@cartersmithgolf Hi Stuart, I am completely sold on this system, but watched your review again. I was thinking I could use it when practicing, but this is not what it is for - is it ? On a practice range I would be using range balls which are nothing like the Pro V1's I normally use, so would give me inaccurate distances and change my overall averages. A further question, when you played that 1st hole, the caddie said you have a 30% chance of hitting the green. Is that based on that specific course, or on data when using your 3 iron for that distance ?
@@peterclark8387 Hi Peter, this is not for the range, it tracks you wile you are out playing. For me that’s the place you need your stats taken as hitting a 7iron on the range is often very different to hitting one in the heat of battle etc. The percentage is taken from all the rounds you have had using the system. It then uses AI to calculate your actual chance of hitting a Certain shot and more importantly where you are most likely to miss. This means if there is water or a particular hazard you can pick a percentage shot that will give you your very best way of getting a good score.
I wondered about these. I'll look into them next year. Is there a setting for a Texas scramble type comp? Again your evaluations are the best of any youtuber!
Nice review Stu 👍 watching your video I had a thought. Does the caddy system ever get you to push your limits? Or the risk reward is actually worth it, or does it always plot ‘the safest way round’
It always plots the statistically best option but it does also offer you (it didn’t on the hole played unfortunately) a couple of lesser more risky options. You can then look at the percentage and your score/position and decide if you’d like to go for it. The hole I played has bunkers all down the left (and slight dog leg left) at 230-290 so even pelting a driver away from them doesn’t help much.
Hi Stuart, Thanks for review and looks like I’ll be investing after years of trying to track my own stats ! Just wondering if the AI caddie is tournament/competition legal ? Regards, Andy
hey Andy, the app has a tournament mode that takes out the slope allowance which is not permitted as yet in tournaments. Other than that it still tracks all data and helps with yardages etc.
@@andygreen1677 great stuff Andy and thanks for using the code it helps 🙏🙏, you won’t look back. When your up and running please connect with me on the app and I’ll keep an eye on your game. 👍👍
Arccos sensors arrived yesterday so decided to download the Arccos Caddie app only to be informed that my perfectly functioning iPhone 5s is too old to download the iOS software required to support the app 😳 Choices :- 1 - invest in new iPhone at cost of £1,000 over 2 years 2 - put sensors away and wait until my perfectly good phone dies, which could well be a long time (years) 3 - return sensors and claim refund. I’m not blaming Arccos at all but feeling very scammed by Apple into buying an expensive new product I don’t want/need to replace a perfectly functioning product. 😡
@@cartersmithgolf I have the Samsung S22 Ultra and Have tried pairing the clubs 3 times but when I get to the course they are no longer saved, is this typical of the samsung or am I doing something wrong?
@@davidnaparstek9349 HI David, please go to the Arccos Facebook page if you are on Facebook. It's really insightful and you can get all your questions answered there, sorry I have an iPhone so don't know the answer to your question. It shouldn't do that, I paired my clubs 4 years ago and haven't touched it since.
Thanks for sharing this, but a few comments/concerns: - I don't think you even mentioned the subscription model that Arccos recently moved to ... everyone else is doing it (Spotify, Netflix etc), but for this you still need to fork out a high cost for the hardware, and then spend $100 a year in order to have the privilege of using it. The subscription model is pretty inflexible too. - the Link device is a pretty cynical way of Arccos selling something extra (and for $130!) because of an initial design failure, which is the poor connection between the sensors and the phone. It's a bit sad to hear a reviewer describe it as "beautifully made" when all it's really doing is overcoming flawed electronics and making the consumer pay for the convenience of not having to play a round of golf with a phone in their pocket. - The grips with built in sensors seem a really bad idea for a regular player, who may typically regrip every 6-24 months. That means regularly spending a $100+ premium on top of the price of a standard regrip. - The sensors are claimed to be "designed to last 5 years" but curiously only guaranteed for 2 years, and the batteries are non-replaceable, even though they used to use replaceable batteries. That screams planned obsolescence and an extra cost to factor into the ongoing subscription cost. This was a nice product plug and useful demo but unfortunately a bit one-sided, although imagine you're getting some commission from the sales!
Hi Steve, I’ve used the same grip plugs for 3 years now and yes there is a yearly subscription but at £10/$10 per month i don’t think it’s at all expensive compared to say a new driver that would be nearly £500 and often only used for a couple of seasons. I think the link is a really nice addition to the family but for me I don’t use it as I’m really happy to have my phone in my pocket as I’m always using the app caddie feature which I think is really worth all the investment alone. The link seems to have been developed to catch that market that doesn’t want their phone in the pocket. I feel this is pretty good as you can take the option to not purchase this addition. To develop and maintain the technology in the “back end” I’m going to guess isn’t free so I would expect such a comprehensive utility to have some sort of cost. I’ve just done a review of the V1 app which has no hardware and a similar back end and the monthly’s are quite similar so this shows that these companies have some costs to cover. This is one review that I’m particularly happy with and I did work hard on it because I feel it’s the best piece of kit the progressive golfer can buy to help them know their game and improve. I literally wouldn’t play without it and would forego a new driver or set of irons to have this knowledge. It’s changed the way I see my game after 35 years and has given me added confidence knowing my percentage misses, strengths and weaknesses. When something has this impact after thinking you’ve seen it all you want to let as many people know as possible. Saying this it’s all very personal and dependant on people’s budgets and priorities. Thank you for your feedback and questions. 🙏🙏🙏
Lot of issue with this product. Link an be spotty. And I can no longer get club distance and club recommendation to work during round. So far support has not been able to offer a fix.
Great review this Stu. I'm a bugger for data and golf stats. Looking at your yardages...I know you know what I'm going to say, but, are you addressing your 7 through 4 irons? Possibly just need a tweak in the loft and lie machine to get a more defined seperation...not that its SFA it do with me, you're a far better golfer than I. But, as a tinkerer, they would be going in my machine to sort it👍 Oh boy, I bet Maddy shudders when you pull your phone out in bed 😉 Debi just sighs when I start trolling though my launch monitor numbers so I know how you feel 😂 Numbers and data are super useful, I wish we'd had all this information and technology available when I started...I wouldn't have had to do all the pacing out, leaving the ball bag as a target, hitting to that, watching ball flight, recording it, paper everywhere..."kids, they don't know they're born"😂😂😂 Seriously though, MyGolfSpy swear by this system and it looks like other manufacturers, other than Cobra, are buying into it too. That has to be a good thing 👍 I really wasn't aware they gave so much data and intellegent caddy options too. The only downside of them that I can think of is, regripping...I did a regrip for one of the guys at the club on his F8 and when I measured up it was coming up short (because of the transponder being in the original grip), I spoke to him about it and he was happy to have the club a little shorter, saved me the job of extending the shaft 😉 Swingweight stayed pretty close with the new grip so he was golden. And...if you regrip every season, the pods you have are definitely the cheapest, simplest option. They need to put your review on their website 👍👍👍
Thanks Kent, btw the screenshot that I put up of the smart distances was one from the website rather than my own one. Like you I’m pretty anal with my gapping and it’s pretty on point at the moment. The system is still settling down after my club change (the pings are pretty hot). I think I’ll be back to pure blades next season or get the blueprints.
@@cartersmithgolf hmmm the Blueprints are nice looking clubs👍 I keep getting tempted to pick up a set of Callaway Apex Pro CF16 off of ebay. Bless ya pal, 🙏🙏 thanks for stopping by.

I’ve heard the watch is getting better. Sorry but I haven’t got one but may get one for the review.

Fantastic. Likewise, I wouldn’t play without mine and the longer you use it the better it gets. 👍👍🙏🙏
Thank you for posting this. I just got fit for new Ping G425 irons. This is by far and away the best explanation of what Across is, how it works, and the information it can supply. Thanks again :)
Hey Dave, your welcome and great choice of clubs btw. 👍👍

Thank you George. Glad you got something from it. Yeah the truth hurts sometimes but it’s just what we all need to get better. 😂😂
@@cartersmithgolf Excited to see what the Arccos will do in these conditions :-)

It’s a combination of vibration “hit” and the sound of the ball strike. Clever stuff.

Carter-Smith Golf: Great review!
A few questions about sensors:
- How long will they last, as in, will the sensors stop working after X years?

How many golf courses does the Arccos have in the system? What if a course is not in the system?
Hi, there are 40,000 courses mapped. If your course isn’t mapped you can request them map it and usually they do it quickly at no cost.
I've just bought a Cobra SZ set with these sensors built in the grips. I've applied for the extra free sensors and bought a caddie link as I'm a high handicapper coming back to golf and I didn't want to be playing with my phone to begin with.

@@cartersmithgolf thanks for the reply back. The effect is pretty neat. I'm a bit of a tech nerd myself.
Yeah me too, love a full on geek out. 😂
Enjoyed the video. Similar to you I like switching clubs in and out of my bag. Does the system allow multiple club entry options? Example entering in two 3 woods (+3 wood) & (15 deg). Would it register both or does it fall under 1 heading of 3 wood and average combined use of each club?
Hi Gregory, yes you can give them different names. id say have one as a 2 wood and one as a three wood so you know the difference.
Only started playing properly in may and I think this system will 100% help me improve my game
It totally will Jack, I would recommend it for all levels. I wouldn’t play without it. 👍👍
Great video. So the only thing you need to manually enter is pin location and how far away you were?
Yes Jeff that’s it. It does have a go at that for
you but if your interested in your putting stats you need to just dial that in. If another across player has been out before you then the pins will be already set. 👍👍
How does the system knows your are hitting the ball and not making a practice swing? Regards
Hi, it uses a combination of club speed and sound from impact to derive an actual shot. Thanks for watching 🙏🙏
@@cartersmithgolf Thank you , definitely going to be ordering and subbing to your channel !
Outstanding review. The review alone helped me to make the decision. I appreciate the Grip vs Smart Sensor comparison and putting that into context. I renew my grips prior to ever season. The sensor option is best in this case rather than the grips. Thank you.
Your welcome Eddie and glad it helped. That’s a good choice 👍
It says on the app 10 rounds before you unlock the caddie function.

Thanks and you won’t be disappointed I literally wouldn’t play without mine and that’s after 3 years of use. 🙏🙏👍👍
superb job, my sz cobra irons came today and id already done some research on arcoss as was keen, but if id had seen ur video earlier id of pulled the trigger even earlier. bring it on. subscribed to you as well, gd job on this review, best iv seen by miles.

Great idea. Let me know how you get on. 👍👍
What a fantastic video and thorough explanation of the features!! Just waiting for my new clubs to come in to get this fitted onto them
Thank you Ron, I literally wouldn’t play without mine and it’s been the same since the first Arccos video I did 2 years ago (that one is also on my channel). Thanks for watching 🙏🙏👍
Super late, but I have a question for anyone who has these.. if I got the arccos caddie sensors do I have to have the special grips? Or do they work on any grip?
Hi, the sensors work on all grips on the market. 👍👍
@@cartersmithgolf awesome! Really appreciate the quick reply!
Your welcome mate, there is a discount link for you in the description if you decide to buy.
Thinking abt buying to improve my golf for this upcoming golf season as I’m looking to improve as I’m playing for my school team
@@cartersmithgolf one more thing, sorry about all the reading, do you have to pay yearly as well? Or is that just for the grips?
@@ericschmidt9523 ok, that may change. I believe this tech will end up in all pro tournaments going forward.
@@ericschmidt9523 if you buy either the grips or the stubs you get a year free then it’s just $100 per year there after.
Can you use that app, without the subscription?
Any thoughts on Garmin CT10 sensors as an alternative if you already have a Garmin watch? Saves carrying your phone around and you have the yardage data on your wrist.
I haven't tried the CT10 set up but if they are stress free i will always suggest collecting data. Im a pretty committed type of person and manually collecting data (which is obviously an option) wore me out which is why this system was a revelation. I enjoyed the Garmin G80 in my recent review but did find the GPS side of it a little "clunky" for want of a better word.
What about practice swings? Does it count those? It’s a very good review
Hi, no it doesn’t track practice swings. It also doesn’t track practice shots played after you’ve hit your shot. Clever stuff.
Excellent review! You mention tournaments...is the caddie function allowed by R&A/USGA?
Hi Chris, yes there is a tournament mode that eliminates the unsupported features (slope is the big one).
Excellent review. Have been looking at Arccos for some time.
Thanks Tom, I literally wouldn’t play without it now. Had it since my first review 2 years ago. Thanks for watching 👍🙏
Thanks for that just found they don’t have my coarse over here in Australia
I can get that added if you decide to buy the unit. Thanks for watching. 🙏🙏
Great have sent you a message on instergram
Thanks for this :). How many rounds did you approx need before the app would give meaningful advice? And how many rounds did you need before the smart club distances became meaningful to you? thanks
It kicks in after 4-6 rounds it’s pretty reliable but gets more accurate the more rounds you have. If your course requires you to play a full range of shots it sorts it out really quick.
How do you record punch shots out of the trees, etc. in Arccos? Seems that letting Arccos picking those up as normal shots would really skew club data.
It’s cleverly knows your punch shots and chip shots, bump
And run etc and eliminates them from your full
Shot stats. 🤯🤯🤯
Very cool!
Excellent review! Now I finally understand how it works and what I actually need to buy, thanks!!
What app are you using for the shot trace?
I use an in-house technique using VFX (After Effects). I sell this as a service if it’s something you would like doing. 👍👍
Hi Stu, I play off a high handicap, do you think this would benefit someone like me?
It really would Jamie yes. It’s absolutely crucial to know how far you can expect to hit a shot on average so even more so for a less consistent player. You can also see what you should address first to improve. 👍👍
very good review , have you tried using this in conjunction with an Apple watch ?
Hi Jeff, I haven’t as yet but will be doing a full review of that as soon as I can.
Great content thank you. I just purchased the 3rd generation. Can’t wait to get started. Can it be used on the range? 👍🏻
Thanks Chris, great choice mate, I literally wouldn’t play without mine. There’s not a range feature at the moment but really you shouldn’t need it for that as it tracks real time conditions which is where you really need the numbers as that’s where the action happens. Enjoy and thanks for watching. 👍👍
I would like for Accros to add a gps separate from the phone.
That would be good yes.
Great review. Have you tried the Apple Watch app? Would like to see how the battery drain is, plus what info it gives on the watch screen.
I like keeping the phone in the cart/bag and just getting basic info from watch.
I haven’t tested the watch yet but I will put it on my list. Thank you Louis 👍👍🙏
Amazing video and quality thank you so much
Thanks for watching. 🙏🙏👍
How does Arccos know which club you have just hit?
@@cartersmithgolf Thanks a lot!
Great review Stuart I'm going to try one myself, be good especially with been new to golf.
Thanks mate, good luck and I hope it goes well. 👍👍
Excellent review I’m sold! Now if I go to the range and hit 15 shots with each club will that come into play with tracking distance etc? Thanks mate.
Hi Seb, no that won’t effect anything. I hit balls for hours before and sometimes after. It is only activated when you get to the first tee (it knows). Glad it helped. I literally wouldn’t play without mine and I’ve been using it tor 3 years now. 👍👍👍
A great review thank you so much
Thank you for watching. 🙏
If the range is like a practice fairway
you can get measurements but obviously if it’s a standard range it won’t know how far they have gone out there.
Saying this it will (in a handful of rounds) get you dialled in pretty quickly then constantly readjust as you play more and more shots with the same irons.
That first hole was a par 4? Dam!
It’s a Beast of a course. 7600 off the tips. 😱😱
It is absolutely worth! You won't regret purchasing both
Great review, I have them ready to go. Just need the courses to open now.
Couple of points to add to your review, there is a subscription element that’s worth noting. Also it works with Apple Watch if you don’t want the phone in your pocket (or so I’m told as I can’t get out on the course)
Yeah I should get an Apple Watch and see how it works. Let’s hope we can get out of this ASAP. 👍👍👍
That was such a great review

Amazing video!!! The best one so far. Cheers mate
Thanks Fabian 🙏🙏🙏👍👍
I wondered about these. I'll look into them next year. Is there a setting for a Texas scramble type comp? Again your evaluations are the best of any youtuber!
Thanks Jim, as long as you hit the shots all the data will be captured. 👍👍
Currently unavailable
Which one are you going for?
Hi Stuart,
Thanks for review and looks like I’ll be investing after years of trying to track my own stats ! Just wondering if the AI caddie is tournament/competition legal ?
Regards,
Andy
hey Andy, the app has a tournament mode that takes out the slope allowance which is not permitted as yet in tournaments. Other than that it still tracks all data and helps with yardages etc.

Arccos sensors arrived yesterday so decided to download the Arccos Caddie app only to be informed that my perfectly functioning iPhone 5s is too old to download the iOS software required to support the app 😳
Choices :-
1 - invest in new iPhone at cost of £1,000 over 2 years
2 - put sensors away and wait until my perfectly good phone dies, which could well be a long time (years)
3 - return sensors and claim refund.
I’m not blaming Arccos at all but feeling very scammed by Apple into buying an expensive new product I don’t want/need to replace a perfectly functioning product. 😡

I bought this then found out my Samsung Galaxy Android is not supported. Read the phone compatibility list first!
Oh that’s a shame. Sorry to hear that.
Thanks for sharing this, but a few comments/concerns:
- I don't think you even mentioned the subscription model that Arccos recently moved to ... everyone else is doing it (Spotify, Netflix etc), but for this you still need to fork out a high cost for the hardware, and then spend $100 a year in order to have the privilege of using it.
Imagine if De Vincenzo had had this at Augusta in ‘68

@@cartersmithgolf Well looks like you have Apple phone right? The problems I have I am told are exclusive to Android.
But, as a tinkerer, they would be going in my machine to sort it👍
Oh boy, I bet Maddy shudders when you pull your phone out in bed 😉 Debi just sighs when I start trolling though my launch monitor numbers so I know how you feel 😂
Numbers and data are super useful, I wish we'd had all this information and technology available when I started...I wouldn't have had to do all the pacing out, leaving the ball bag as a target, hitting to that, watching ball flight, recording it, paper everywhere..."kids, they don't know they're born"😂😂😂
Seriously though, MyGolfSpy swear by this system and it looks like other manufacturers, other than Cobra, are buying into it too.
