We Gave Up City Life to Live in the Woods - 2024 Homestead Review

- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- Welcome to our 2024 homestead year in review, where we share our journey of leaving city life behind to live in the woods.
Embracing a minimalist lifestyle, we've traded in the hustle and bustle for a slower pace, surrounded by nature.
Our decision to escape the city was driven by a desire for sustainable living and a deeper connection with the land.
We're passionate about organic farming and growing our own food, building sustainably and we're excited to share our experiences with you.
From the challenges we've faced to the joys of simple living, we're pulling back the curtain on our life in the woods.
If you're considering making a similar move, or simply looking for inspiration to live a more intentional life, you're in the right place. So grab a cup of coffee, get comfortable, and join us as we reflect on our third year of homesteading.
Join our journey in 2025 as we complete our Year-Round Rammed Earth Geothermal Greenhouse project, and many more projects along the way!

Loving your development. It's so calming & joyful to watch your progress this year (even if you feel it has been severely held up) & watch the animals living their best lives. Much love & Solstice blessings to you all
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video
Amazing presentation! The edit and music is simply beautiful! So many elements of this caught me off guard and I am deeply moved by the beauty. Ok, the hen mommas and chicks stole the show alongside all of the beautiful animals, as equally as the giant timber you placed.. I couldn’t get over how massive it looked! And of course your interaction with each other ..there’s a lot of words to simply say how much it brought me joy this morning! Thank you!❤
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much :)

Thank you!
A lot can be accomplished in a year! Would you agree? Great LOOK back! Onward and upwards!
I have never wanted to be close to town “ but if I was I would move back again
Interesting building style!
I have lived in the countryside far from anything. It seems cool from afar, but it can be very isolating. Children don’t have playmates or much access to after school activities, medical care is far away & access to shopping & community is limited. It’s fine for a weekend place, but not good for a social experience.
What a great throw back … you’ve done so much since then ❤
It was fun putting this video together to really take a step back and reflect on all we've done! Thank you Lainey ❤️

So why so many roosters ? Most folks I know that have chickens don't even want a rooster unless they are breeding chickens and even then one rooster they say can take care of a whole flock of chickens. Please explain. Thanks
Hello from India. Love your videos.
I live in Himalayan mountain area.
I'm thinking of building my own homested in area, got some land in here but still not sure how do I start building the house where should I start?
Feel free to watch our videos from the beginning - we started from scratch too! Thank you for watching :)
Why so many roosters? What breed of chickens do you have? I’m asking because we are getting our FIRST 6 chickens in the spring!
We hatch our own chicks out with broody hens (mama hens) so we end up with 50/50 roosters to hens (or in our case more roosters than hens) We have an entire playlist dedicated to our journey raising chickens! Be sure to check it out. We knew nothing about them and have learnt a ton! Thanks for watching :)
@ wonderful. Do you butcher some of the roosters for meat?
@ we do not, we are vegetarian. I bring the roosters to auction.
Find an are that burned 1-3 years ago., those mushrooms {morels}}? grow like you can't imagine after a burn
Yes! thank you.. We've already scoped out a spot for this upcoming spring!!
Poland
How did you select the music?🎵
We use endemic sound. It’s a music for creators platform that we subscribe to. Thanks for watching!
