Amy, Please keep on explaining your cooking, canning, and bread making techniques. I’m all ears for it. As well as the medicinals. I am really enjoying your channel. Well Done 🎉 and Happy Holidays.
Just found your channel. I just love your place and your family. So many would say, “ they are so lucky!” Most don’t realize how hard it is to live a secluded life! You guys are doing great! God bless
So many new faces, me included! I found your videos this morning and I watched all day while working 😁. And now as I sat down to eat dinner, lo and behold a new video uploaded an hour ago…I’ve never clicked so fast in my life! Y’all are living my dream, I’m saving up for property and fully anticipate how much hard will go into homesteading, but I want it all: huge garden, wood stove, chickens, just maybe not all that snow 😅. These videos are wonderfully informative, entertaining and endearing, such a lovely family. Happy holidays!
Thank you so much for watching! Looking back, planning and dreaming for our homestead were some of the fondest times for us. Happy holidays to you as well!
Love watching and hearing your process and explanation when you cook and bake. Everything looks soo delicious. Thank you for taking the time to film your activities. Every aspect of your life is fascinating. ❤
It has been wonderful watching you guys when I found you here few weeks ago. I just want to leave this message to wish you guys a Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year with your family God bless❤❤
This is just a thought the next time you tackle something like that put some cross bracing on the front of it and then you're able to lay it down or you're able to put some skids under it and haul at home.
Amy where did you learn about natural remedies? I only believe in natural remedies, and I find yours very interesting and helpful. Here in northern New Mexico we’ve received no snow this fall/winter. Very warm too for this time of year. Your snow is getting me in the Xmas spirit. Merry Xmas to all of you.
A little warm sounds nice right about now! Thank you very much, natural remedies are a favorite of mine! Long nights in the cabin reading, and also took a few courses. I have made herbal remedies for folks in my community as well. It’s fun, and rewarding! Merry Christmas to you as well 🎄
Thank you for the salad dressing idea for garlic honey. We use it for immune system, but that will be great for salad dressing. Thank you and hope you are all well!
It made my day when a saw a new video that y’all uploaded. A great family in a great place. I’ve always dreamed to do what y’all are doing. Merry Christmas!
Try using the hand warmers on your wrists under the cuff of your jacket. Your arteries are close to top of your skin and will keep you warmer. I also put them on my neck under my collar. I do this when bow hunting deer in below zero temps. Its more effective than just putting the hand warmers in your pockets.
I just found your channel! Loved watching how hard it Is in such a very climate. I Really enjoyed the recipes you share and the Cooking! Merry Christmas 🎄😊 Vold Your
The best light temperature for chickens laying is about 2700k or a conventional "Soft white" bulb is perfect. Most "Daylight white" bulbs don't contain enough red light to influence chicken's laying. The most important thing, rather than amount or colour of light however is the duration of light.
Great job :) Good find just a little labor awesome little building 👍, Yes cold in my parts & always a challenge with camara batteries , I try not to do any outside building once winter sets in, But it happens from time to time lol, Stay warm, Have an awesome Christmas
New subscriber here and really enjoy your videos! I love how you explained all the different berries and health benefits in your fall video. Look forward to watching more!
New to you. Great vlogs. I am watching in 85F weather here in Costa Rica. Lived most of my life in Indiana, so no stranger to lots of snow. Don't miss the white stuff, I'll stick with sand. I sure enjoy your vlogs and you're cooking is so interesting. Your cabin is so nice. Is the chicken coop heated? Looked awfully cold. My dogs loved the snow and cold too. I had a hard time getting them to come in. We brought all 3 down here. I know they missed it. Thanks for letting us visit. Glad to know ya.
Me too. The beauty makes me wish I had been more serious about homesteading in Alaska. I did have five acres mostly off grid in Washington but that was boring compared to how they folks live.
@ OMG. I wondered why it was dark when you guys got up. Hope I don’t annoy you with questions but many of us live vicariously through you folks and we are so curious about what your lives are like. I know I’m jealous but I’m too old to try it myself now.
@@holdfastalaska Unless I missed it, you folks may want to do a video covering the basics like what you do for electricity, sewer, internet, etc. that might reduce the number of dumb repetitive questions. If you did and I missed it, sorry! Love your channel.
Building in Sub Zero Temps & Snowstorms. and that's why I live in the SE USA !! lolol Nice video but honestly, there are 100's of cold Off-grid cabin vids on YT. Can't watch them all. Good luck ! One thing I don't understand is why NOT have an enclosed entryway to main entrance to keep out cold air from directly blowing in main part of cabin in Sub Zero Temps. I know I'm old, but seems like common sense.....
Amy,

@@d00mbunni If you don’t want too much snow, you might consider property closer to water. Lower elevation and more south.
Thank you so much for watching! Looking back, planning and dreaming for our homestead were some of the fondest times for us. Happy holidays to you as well!
Only just found your channel will be following you eagerly 😊❤️🏴x

I love cooking outside on a fire! Sweet lil covering you got from the neighbors.
We enjoy it too! Makes cooking more fun in the winter. Thank you 😊
This is just a thought the next time you tackle something like that put some cross bracing on the front of it and then you're able to lay it down or you're able to put some skids under it and haul at home.
Thank you for the advice! That would have been easier. Thank you for watching 😊

Another great video y’all. Western North Carolina Mountains
Thank you for watching! 😊
So awesome…love your videos.
Thanks so much! We love making them! 😊
Merry Christmas 🎁
Merry Christmas to you as well! 🎄
Great job so far. You might want to add some corner braces near the rof on the front to stiffen up the whole assembly. Enjoy!
Thank you very much 😊 We actually ran out of screws, but are planning on bracing it!
Always have your firewood ready before winter sets in!
We just moved to this new homestead from another in Alaska this October. Late start this year!
New to you.
Great vlogs.

Thank you for the kind words! The coop is not heated, just some supplemental light in there!
Thanks for sharing 🫶
You're very welcome! ❤️
You guys are quite the team. What will the barn be used for?
The dogs seem to be in dog heaven. They couldn’t be happier it appears. You need a couple more hands to help you.
Pretty good life for a dog 😊 Never enough hands!
What are you doing for termites? With the wood contacting the ground.
The ground contact timbers are pressure treated!
Me too. The beauty makes me wish I had been more serious about homesteading in Alaska. I did have five acres mostly off grid in Washington but that was boring compared to how they folks live.
Homesteading in Alaska has its challenges, but it’s also very rewarding! No where else we’d rather be ❤️
New subscriber here. Cabin/property tour maybe?
Coming soon! 😊 we are excited to share with you all!
What will you use the “new to you” shed for?
Hi, i was thinking that hens should have a rest from egg laying in the winter with no light.
How many hours of daylight do you guys have now? Do you have Starlink? Thanks.
Sunrise at 10, sunset at 3! We are looking into starlink. Thank you 😊

What is your power source. Watching from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
When are going to do a tour of your homestead
Next couple weeks or so we will include a cabin tour! 🏡

Do you experience polar night? Or midnight sun?
No polar midnight, but in summer it’s near 24 hours light!
@ that’s awesome also!!!!
I question are there bears where you live
There are, lots! Black and brown.
I would get chains for your rtf
WHY DON'T YOU PUT FLATS STONES UNDERTHE CORNERS
Try using tight surgical gloves?!!
