I don't know if revving to redline would help acceleration with the M43 316i. This engine has maximum power at 5500 rpm according to official BMW data, and it starts dropping quite abruptly above that, Maximum torque is reached at 2500 rpm too. To be honest, the M43B19 doesn't like revs as much as other engines on the E46, like the M54B22 which gets maximum power at 6100 rpm
@@FStan-co8vv having an m43 316 is just to cry ab engine feels like pulling between 3-3.5 drops off completely after 3.7 and picks back up at 4.9k rpm lol and tuning capability=0 like shit engine to squeeze hp out of even tho it's a 1.9 but u can do lot of kms with the engine before breaking
I sold the car a few months ago. I quite liked the engine itself, quite economical and easy to repair. But there wasn't really any power above 5k RPM, maybe because it's a simple old school 8V engine without vanos or anything like that.
bro idk man i'm already 1.3k deep into my engine and this mf still leaking coolant even tho it's a pritty sturdy engine. and for me i get like 10.5l/100km so far from economical for me. @@allesundallgemein7411
@@a2d600 yeah, overall the 320i inline six with 150 hp is a better choice than the 1.9 in my opinion... both are reliable, but 320i has much more power and the difference in fuel economy isn't massive either
Way too fast gear changes. If you really wanna see some speed of this engine better take it to redline !
