I couldn't even watch the whole thing, CSA is a huge trigger for me, and the coddling of psychopaths because they are rich by modern society is absurd to me. People are so concerned with maintaining the status quo or "The Economy will crash if we do/don't" but all I see and heat is profits running extremely high and minimum wage becoming nothing compared to housing prices and rent
The reason human trafficking is so rampant is because the public isn't informed, and yet here is a pretty low view count TED Talk on the subject. Can't we share this video more or something?
Our chance to use the social media for something of real depth and value, rather than being used against humanity - saving peoples lives is HUGE. I am pleased to see it waking up to the depths it is. Used to be unspoken of - now people are sharing their experiences, proving it's existence. I pray more people report it going on around them, - put those smart phones to good use- if we see signs-so we can all pray and help connect dots. God bless the family fighting the good fight. Father thank you for forgiving our sins, and cleansing our hearts. Thank you for enabling us to fulfill our callings, with Godly success. Lord help us protect the vulnerable and innocent. Guide us and protect us, and keep us - make us more like you, Holy Father. Asking this in Jesus' name.
Sometimes people grabs another person's phone and hit the up thumb without the person knowing about it so the count shouldn't be considered because it's not the majority that always win but the few that do listen are perhaps sufficient to bring about proper changes.
This is Tedx so not as much publicity. Ted is part of the problem, people binge-watch so they can feel like an elite informed part of society then take no action on any of it. I'm more concerned about that then viewing stats

When she said the bit about them sitting in Disneyland hit hard. Just thinking they wait for a vulnerable toddler or something makes me very afraid. And I’m a 16 year old boy. This needs to be spread
I've heard Disneyland is a great place to traffic children because of the tunnels under Disneyland to all the sites there. Makes you wonder about Disneyland. I read a figure last year that approximately 800,000 children go missing in the USA .
THE USA IS THE BIGGEST HUMAN / CHILD TRAFFICKERS..DO YOUR RESEARCH...ALL THE WAY UP TO THE POLITICANS N POLICE OFFICERS...GO ON U-Tube n LISTEN TO RABBI FINKELSTEIN OUT OF NEW YORK..OUT OF HIS OWN MOUTH HE TELLS YOU HOW THEY KIDNAP N KILL INNOCENT CHILDREN...VERY CRUEL SICK MAN...GO AHEAD THERES MONTHS OF VIDEO CLIPS OF WHAT HE DOES WITH THE CHILDREN....BE PREPARED
@@Ayeayeaye614 The tunnels aren't used for that. The trafficking is done above ground in plain view. The situation is bad enough. Don't add lies to it.
When she mentioned Disneyland my heart sank. She also mentioned the Central Valley, the region of CA I'm from. That is so awful, we really need to spread awareness to help stop these inhumane businesses.
@@narcabusevictimgermany9687 That's probably what he means, a lady in another ted talk was actually trafficked by a female, the irony is just ridiculous
I am not a victim nor a survivor of human trafficking but I have a passion to abolish it. I was in eighth grade (I think) when I first heard a survivor's story. After Christine Cane shared her story at my church, I was moved to do my own depth research on the epidemic. I was distraught and hated how prevalent the issue is still in modern society. So, every speech and almost every paper that I did in school was on human trafficking. Even in my second year at college, I have done 3 speeches on the topic and 4 or 5 papers on human trafficking. I like to say that I'm playing a role in bringing awareness to my communities but it doesn't seem to be enough. Praying and donating to certain organizations is fine but I'm more action-oriented when it comes to things like this.
Yeah really nice: teach, write papers, pray and donate. Personally, kidnappers, traffickers, pimps, the criminal element of all this, how about shoot on sight and recycle this filth for fertilizer, dog food, something that contributes to what we like to think of as civilization. Maybe a small stipend for the ammo.
Thank you. Please continue to resonate that energy; it sends waves of hope to those signaling, and awakens those who are strong enough to help like yourself.
@@jimburks6599 I agree. The death sentence. A one way ticket off the planet. Any human that has that level of disregard for the life of another human, especially a child, should be exterminated.
The laws and policies need to be changed. ICE needs to prosecute, detain/jail; and deport criminal illegals and never let them back in under a penalty of 25 years in federal prison. There is no leadership or law enforcement regarding trafficking and this needs to change. Enable law enforcement. Enforce immigration laws or this is just worthless talk that enables the traffickers and bolsters the political careers of worthless speakers. Advocacy is Lame. Effective law enforcement works. Notice that most trafficking happens in Sanctuary Cities that are magnets for criminals. Yet libs won't abolish SC's for the sake of their political careers. So, the problem persists therefore.
"I will not avert my eyes.". If only everyone did the same. It hurts to think about, but that may be EXACTLY how it should feel for everyone to work together and stop this! I am a firm believer that if we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem.
Yeah I have the same mentality about animals rights... if they have to suffer, I can at least acknowledge it to inspire change. Same for this. These people have to live it, so put a stop to it by at least acknowledging it.
The consequence should be death. Don’t feel that it’s playing God, they’re breaking God’s laws, so end the opportunity that they ever do it to anyone else and let God deal with them. Slavery is a satanic practice, and being soft on it, is enabling it, that makes us part of the problem. The death penalty regardless of one’s involvement would save many lives, not only the many victims of slavery, but many abusers would choose not to get involved in slavery.
This video ended with me callin in a tip about a nail salon by my house. I always felt something was wrong and this video basically described what I saw.
I love how she told everyone to get out their phones at the end and put the number for Polaris Project in. I did it, but it wasn't something I probably would have thought to do if she hadn't told me to. I've been looking for actual ways to help end human trafficking, and I think just having the phone number to report something suspicious is one of the best things I've come across so far. This TED Talk was very, very well done.
I shared this video, shared the anti-slavery sites, and help numbers, and looked up more sites and data charts, and shared the heck out of them. Eye opening.
I'm thinking aback at all the nail parlors I've passed in my life with young girls working there with a lifeless look in their eyes. this is heartbreaking.
It is amazing to see someone talking about those issues with so much raw emotion. A lot of people would have made an equally informative presentation, but they would talk about it like it was a school organisation Problem. This woman is inspiring.
This talk was given in 2013. Today, 2019 I hope people are willing to research the Epstein case, all of his connections and realize how deep this goes !!! "hidden in plain sight" excellent title.
This is why we are all constantly being distracted by petty nonsense. Those in power have great motivation to keep us busy sticking our noses into the private lives of celebrities or fighting amongst ourselves about overblown BS. Every time you let someone make you feel outrage over something you previously saw as trivial, you are allowing yourself to be played like a puppet. Meanwhile, the truly outrageous crimes such as this, continue to go on right under your nose.
Tara Wright If only people will realize all that's actually happening all around us. Like you said, while being heavily distracted and being inudated with fluff. What scares me is it's becoming even more obvious to the point it actually looks lame and like a put on because I guarantee they see us as fool's now. Like one big show and society has fallen for it all. Not only that, what the problem bigger is, is people fear to reach out, fear to help, fear to ask for help, fear to make the call.

"Human Trafficking" movie - one of the most horrific movies I've ever seen. And the eerie part is that it really does exist, and much closer to us than we even realize.
You are not powerless because YOU ARE NOT the filth of what happened to you. You are precious and loved no matter what was done to you. I know and overcame it. Now it's my passion to help. I'm trying to network and in school for psychology.
Human trafficking is huge in my community. Sadly, it's rarely discovered until it's too late. Another thing that keeps it going and hidden is language and culture.
Our country is blessed to have Dr. Transchel, who cares so very much, to teach us about slavery in our midst. I've read a couple of articles about house slaves, both were women that had been forced to work for famiies, usually from other countries, who later got freed & received help. I was so happy for them to be freed & receive help!
This is an incredibly dark subject. It seems like an overwhelming tide, but, to care at all enough to listen to the brave people that are speaking out about it means you care about someone outside yourself. Don't let that darkness pull you down. Truth is rising like the horizon in this world. Pray for it and get caught up in a tide of hope. Even the smallest thoughts, then prayers then actions move us all closer to light.
I've been searching informations for an hour and a half now, on what I can do as a resident of France without being part of an association. I can't find anything! The lack of informations on this subject is horrifying (the same articles keep quoting each others), and I don't know what to search anymore! This is the kind of thing we should teach in school, how to recognise the signs, what to do and who to reach, even if the program is already heavy.
EtoileColombe the signs are the same in a lot of places so you can use U.S. research for more info on that. Then if you see something that fits the description, call in a tip to the police and give them as much info as possible. You can also try calling the U.S. hotline and ask if they know of any resources in France. ✊🏼
Try looking up an American organization called OUR (Operation Underground Railroad). You can donate money to them to help rescue these kids as well as their aftercare programs to help get victims educatuon, therapy and real world skills.
If you can, start a petition, starting with people you know, to have harder punishments for traffickers. Even the death penalty because they will do it again when they get out of prison.
Both times watching this just now, when Ms. Transchel recalls the Moldovan woman's account, as soon as she reaches the part where the woman says, "I heard a ringing in my ears," I begin to weep. I'm so grateful for the informative material that she provides in this talk. I really want this matter to become more well-understood.
This is extremely enlightening. You really get your point across. You make it known how important it is to talk about these kinds of topics and to make a change.

I just want everybody to know that in later years, at least within the last five years, human trafficking also happens online very easily. When I was 15 I was almost human trafficked on a dating website targeted to teenagers. It’s important to be aware of what’s going on in the digital world as well as the real world. Edit: I said at least in the last five years and then I remembered that craigslist has been around for a very long time- my bad. Either way, the point still stands

When she mentioned Disneyland, I felt sick. About 2 years ago we took a family holiday to Disneyland Paris. I remember walking with my daughter (she was 7 at the time) . I happened to glance up and noticed a man watching her. It was way beyond just a general glance he was constantly watching, and no matter how I tried to move her out of his line of vision the more he tried to watch her. I have never gripped my child’s hand so hard, she actually told me I was hurting her. My husband was with my sons at the time cueing for a ride. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life. On my husband‘a return I told him. He grabbed my daughter hid her from view and moved to confront the guy after taking his picture . The guy moved off very quickly but my husband lost him in the crowd. We reportedly the incident to security and were told that it happens often 🥺. We were in a foreign country having taken our children on a once in a lifetime trip half way around the world. My husband did not let go of her the hand for the rest of the time in the park, but I was constantly looking over my shoulder and felt sick to my stomach. She could have been taken from us so easily.

This is horrendous and real and sure we absolutely must open up our eyes. Let's start by accumulating the courage to acknowledge and admit who the paying clients are. As a truck driver, I've seen this in places I've picked up or delivered as well as truck stops and some city streets. It's eerie when one of these woman, mostly women, jump in your truck and you're torn between 1. Legal ramifications of transportation of a woman. Mann act etc. 2. There needs to be a way for truck drivers to help without getting fired or possibly prosecuted.
And there are questionable "massage" parlors on every block (usually the ones open late at night) yet no one bats an eye, and they seem to stay in business so there are plenty of customers going there!
I was part of a ministry that visited those spas. Cameras right outside, and you have to buzz in. One parlor took like 2 months just for the girls to open the doors for us. It takes time for them to trust you. Sadly Covid hit and our school didn't allow us to do it anymore. Well any in person ministry, we do everything over Zoom. They are dressed as if they were going clubbing or in very short shorts. They rotate the girls because we didn't see some for a while and when we ask about them the girls get nervous. One finally let us in and when you ask simple questions they freeze. One time they didn't open and there was this man that was working on construction on some building. He jokingly told us that if we're looking for our husband he will be in there. So people know it is not a real massage. Another one has male customers late at night like you said. My friends saw the owner buying tons of boxes of condoms at Costco. A female friend tried to get a massage there as a way to be able to talk to the girls. But the owner kicked her out. They only want male customers. People report them but nothing happens. So sad.
This is a great talk. The comments were interesting. Slavery (human trafficking) in America has evolved out of necessity (like most criminal activities) to blend in with society. This talk really only shows one side of the issue but definitely the most important - awareness and stopping demand. But it will never go away as long as there is organized crime.
This is enlightening in that I thought the prostitution aspect was the only trafficking situation. I had no idea there were slaves being used on farms, in industries, and in nail salons. Good eye opener.

I thought it was over there, but I have learned it is here in the U.S. and some of the girls are in their homes every night, but blackmailed to service men. Other female teens are used to recruit teens into drugs and prostitution. I stopped a man in the mall who had a young girl by the hand who was upset, and I asked her if this man was her Father. She stopped crying and said yes and then I looked at him and at first he looked like he wanted to knock me out, but then it hit him and his face changed and he thanked me. Don't be afraid to get involved even if you are wrong. I rather be wrong than sorry.
I have seen/heard 4 media articles and attended a community meeting on slavery in the past month. My impression is that there is fitful progress in common understanding of the kinds of slavery around us.
after watching this, i took a few minutes to think and try to put myself in the shoes of different kind of slaves. i played the role in my head, but i kept having questions like "why wouldn't i take that occasion to run away?" or "why wouldn't i straight up refuse and fight back even if it means death?" and as i go deeper in the story to find answers, i realize that i can't even begin to understand the kind of feeling and trauma those people experience. this both makes me angry and sad, especially when i know for a fact that i will barely change my behaviors, and will probably forget about it by the end of the month. i both want to kill people and kill myself, when i put my thoughts into it, it feels so wrong for such a world to even exist and worse to live in it. and next time i wake up, this will just be a piece of information lying around somewhere in my memory.
You are taught to not value yourself and that you are not worth fighting for. They break your spirit, erase even the memory of hope. You forget you can run away or why you should even do so
Cyprien Guilbard. Here is your answer. The ''best' way to conceal the abuse of women is to deny it or better still, to somehow find the means to deny it by quoting religious texts. Often even claiming that the text in question does not say this or that. Yet women, who live by the text in every other way, still choose to behave/dress in an oppressive way. In which case, just because something does not appear in the text, the odd choice of behaviour in clothing etc. can not be divorced from the text when the female concerned breathes the text from every pore of her being. Unfortunately, denials and rationalisations remain strong tactics that prevent radical changes. And one can have a million campaigners campaigning for chance - if the perpetrators of crime against women and the women who offend collude with their oppressors continue to deny there is a problem, there is not much that can be done for them. Changing a culture is well-nigh impossible. And to change an age-old religious culture from within - that would require nothing short of a miracle. If one believes in those.
Please don't hurt yourself. You obviously care, and we need more and more people who care. Every little bit of compassion in the world has a knock-on affect, even if you can't see it. The people you're kind to will be kinder to others, and it spreads. I genuinely believe the world is getting better, and we need as many people contributing to that as possible.
Please have faith in this new process and don't harm yourself or others. More people are joining the cause. Even if you don't take drastic action, this information in your memory will serve as a reminder to live with kindness and compassion. By educating yourself you've already made a difference. Thank you
Cyprien Guilbard, this information will make you more knowledgeable about what is really going on in the cruel dark world. Perhaps, you grow-up in a good community, a centuries-created ideal world formed by heroes of the past and would have never imagined that this kind of atrocities that your forefathers fought against are still somewhere around the corner of the globe still existing. As you go on with your life, armed with such knowledge and a millimeter-less naive, then, perhaps, this will make you a better person.
To those who don't understand why these people don't run away, fight back, even if it means death - as she quoted, the younger someone is, the easier to manipulate and break into submission. I was almost taken as a kid. My friend was almost taken, as a kid. The what ifs of those incidents alone made both of us very wary of people and scarred mentally. There are stories amongst your friends too, most likely, that you never heard and connects to this issue. It's that huge of a problem and people close their eyes over it, which is sad. As others said, it is saddening how this doesn't get more views - whilst people click on news about some celebrities... the human ignorance is huge.

How is it that there is a TED talk on pop music with over 1 million views and this has under half of that. THIS is what people need to watch.

Thank you for your passion. It does make a difference.

It happens because we are too easy on those who harm others.
I concur. Slavery is ok for the rich. And the poor plays along.
It happens also because there is a market for it...we are living in a society that condones this kind of thing.
It’s also happening cause it’s so wide scale and SO profitable. It’s the most heart breaking thing
And we put the victims in jail

So sad.

this both makes me angry and sad, especially when i know for a fact that i will barely change my behaviors, and will probably forget about it by the end of the month. i both want to kill people and kill myself, when i put my thoughts into it, it feels so wrong for such a world to even exist and worse to live in it. and next time i wake up, this will just be a piece of information lying around somewhere in my memory.

If they bring from other countries, they take their documents, they are isolated, threatened, don't control any money, they don't know who to trust, they are scared.
Smart, cares about modern slavery and a fan of Mystic Messenger. Lovely to see such a person here :)
This makes me sick...I love how they draw the issues out but how can we help.with this issue....it has to stop
The idea that we al have slaves ... 😢💔💔
Well spoken! Sending love from Sacramento.
if only Dexter were here to see this, he would have a field day for a few years.
This is so informative, thank you.
Thank you for your bravery. This is heartbreaking. There are many more slaves, the US population of “Targeted Individuals” are illegally trafficked to gangstalkers, robbed, implanted, asset stripped and radiated while a slander campaign is launched against the innocent individual. Thank you for discussing this important topic.
Thank you for your work. We appreciate you very much.
When my daughter was 18mos old, her granny was reading as she play in a very posh city park. Granny looked up to see my daughter being carried off by a very well dressed women. Of course she ran after her making quite a fuss and my daughter was promptly deposited on the side walk. Granny was so traumatized... she didn’t tell us about it till my daughter was in college!
Shocking and incredibly sad but so needed, it’s time to wake up and end this once and for all!
This is just sad.God protect these women, Amen 🙏
The magnitude of the problem is absolutely astounding!
