When people ask me what influenced our fusion band years ago, I tend to mention big hitters like Corea, Ponty, Mclaughlin, etc., but when I really think about it, these guys were actually more of an influence on our music. Sadly, Brand X is not on the tongue of many fusion lovers. One of my all time favorite bands, our bass player loved Percy who was a big influence on his playing.
I first saw Brand X on The old grey whistle test way back in the seventies. Boy do they look different now.But their complexity and virtuosity, not to say genius, has never waned. They are unique. They still have the Jazz in Jazz-rock but it's not Louis Armstrong or even John Coltrain. There's no-one like them. It's unbelievable musicianship.
R.i.p John goodsall was shocked that he passed recently a really underrated guitar player listen 2 the early b.x. and hear Johns playing excellent great 2c b.x touring again hope they come by the West Coast to play gigs.
Saw BX at the Free Trade Hall 1976 with collins, Pert and Lumley et al. Scott is good, but Morris (RIP) was incredible! Great to see them together again.
For me, the drummer always was the main guy in BX, (maybe because I'm a drummer? Hmmm...) and this guy is perfect! Not to say the rest of the guys are not also awesome... they are! But drummers (I think) are the stand out musicians in any band if they are good. Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia are a perfect example (Jon Hiseman) where BT wat the composer and main focal point, but JH stole the show in a live gig...
Well I am grateful to see Brand X out there keeping this wonderful music alive. This is just a sampler video, go see the concerts or listen to the albums if you want the full tracks, but spare the negativity.
Yeah, and the cat on percussion embezzled funds, wouldn’t give Percy an accounting of $$$ they were receiving for gigs, and the cat is also trying to steal the Brand X name. Real standup guy

All these cuts is boring, don't want to see more of this, sorry. The tunes are made to be listened to in their whole.
Exactly!
