My trainer liked to use "stand on your toes, you land on your nose!"

The toes up really helped me with my balance and improved my riding a lot xxx

I'm a very mental rider and any kind of analogy helps a ton! These were SO helpful, especially the triangle one... As an equitation rider it's kinda important! :) That being said all of these helped a ton so THANK YOU!

I can't say how many times I've been told the hinge analogy or the string attached to your head analogy. Other analogies I've been told 1) to imagine a 100 lb weight attached to the heel of your boot for heels down, 2) the horse is an accordion analogy, 3) For things that require proper bending, such as circles and lateral work, to pretend your inside leg is a solid and stable post that you are trying to wrap the horse around, and 4) to imagine that you are riding an octagon instead of a circle. All of those had helped me loads.

Not sure if this is an analogy necessarily, but when I was learning my posting diagonals, the rhyme: "rise and fall with the leg closest to the wall" really helped me.

These really do sound really good. Next time I get on a horse I will think of these!

Love these videos. What I'm sure are little nuggets of information to people like Dom, Jaimie and the rest of the viewers are, at least to me, "Doh!!!" moments of revelation and clarity. I especially like the hinge analogy. I've been riding for 20 years and know not to pinch with my knees, but I do it anyway (I tend to tense up if I'm NOT concentrating on something). The ankle-hinge analogy gives me something to specifically think about and focus on when I'm jumping. Thanks!

one way to practice the angles method is to stand on a mounting block and jump off. land in your jump position. this will tell you if you are leading in the chest or too far in your heels :) hope this helps! it helped my XC position hope this helps

I always think of my heels as anchors and my body as the ship. Then I tell myself that I need to keep the ship from floating away, and the only way to do so is to sink the anchors. :)
    Love your videos!

Florida Georgia Line background music for the win!!!!
Another great episode! You should do one that explains the differences between medium and working gaits in the dressage! I know a lot of people that get confused with the distinctions between the two!

"Don't look down, there is the ground which you will meet, if you fall off" And also when I was learning how to control horse on the manege really helped me the analogy, that it's like on a bicycle - one of your legs is always more in the front than the other.

I always taught my student that they were a tree and strong trees have to have a good root system. I also used the notion that you need to pretend the reins are actually your hands and you need a nice straight line from shoulder the the bit. :)

Whenever I help my instructor in lessons for kids or in trail rides, I always say 'ice cream cones!' To keep their hands in the right position and when steering I say 'now hand an ice cream to your friend *horse turns* take it back you greedy pig!' It works so well.😂😂😂

+Jordan Regoord The lighter horse that Dom was riding is Tex. They don't own him anymore as he sold a year or so ago. and the thoroughbred? I'm not sure myself.
