I live in Michigan- and as far as I know. Unless they have a Judgement specifically stating they can take property- or forcing you to sell your home. They can’t do any of that- it’s a Money Judgment. They have no right to come on your property and steal your property. That’s called what it is- stealing. The property has to be legally turned over assessed for value, it’s quite expensive. Smart way do a quit claim deed which is free to a family member you trust- putting your property in their name, and all assests. This is illegal. But you gifted the home to your family member or they took over payments due to financial hardship. Or put it in a trust. That’s it’s basically untouchable. But I would not recommend going Pro Se in Oakland County for anything. They have the highest conviction rate in the state, and jail is the worst. You could be found criminally negligent. I dont know what happened. If they made it up, I’d start finding way so assert the facts, beyond their BS. The civil court is very very low burden of proof. If the claim hasn’t been filed, go file bankruptcy now, they can’t take anything when you’re in bankruptcy court. My divorce came to a hault cuz of my ex’s bankruptcy. I got nothing until he sold the house, but it’s because it was my money I put into it. Michigan has some effen stupid laws. But going after someone who has nothing means you get nothing. My mom’s a broker in this state if you need options. She’s amazing 38 yrs. There’s nothing she hasn’t seen or done- all legal of course. She’s a very ethical lady, she wouldn’t even lie for me and I’m her daughter. But those people probably foreclosed- on their home, or their assests were seized because of taxes. Sheriff only deals with eviction, foreclosure and seizure due to taxes. What u described sounds unlawful to pay a civil judgment, only the IRS and government can seize your property. My dad didn’t pay his income taxes and they seized every dollar he had, and then some. He owed a ridiculous amount of money and one day he got a letter that said it was finished. He still owed 40k. Beyond the 15 yrs. He was dumbfounded.
