- In this video I demonstrate 7 techniques that we use to get better results with Facebook app install ads.
Facebook is a fantastic platform to acquire new app users and we work with many app-based clients.
Here are the 7 tips for Facebook app install ads:
1) Use the App Installs campaign objective
2) Target a lookalike audience based on existing app users
3) iOS users are more expensive to advertise to than Android users, but they are more likely to become paying customers
4) Don't ask for too much in your app install ads
5) Use simple ad formats and ad copy
6) Write a benefit rich app install ad headline
7) Assess app install campaign results over a longer time period

Great concise video with very useful info. Is there a way to track FB app install ads using Google Analytics so that we can track detailed app events that we've set up in Analytics?
Anyone have idea about running campaigns for app install objective.
It don't show app.install.count untill we provide application_id .
I checked documentation it says we need to integrate Facebook sdk to show app install count in app install objective.
Any other solution
Ben - I'm having trouble connecting my app to even begin this. Do you have any help videos on that?
I've just started running App Installs ads and seeing great success. Stumbled upon your video, I learned some things new plus. Thank you 🙏🏽
how much Download you get per 1K reach?
Thanks for sharing! My question is this: what’s the minimum optimum budget to run a successful app install campaign?
Hey, Ben, great video! Currently, we are revamping our Facebook Ads strategy and your tips are a real gem. 💎 I have one very, very basic question (but can't find concrete information) - can Install Apps be used for Shopify Apps? Or it is limited only to mobile apps?
Glad to hear it :)
Yes App Installs just applies to apps on the app store/Google play store as far as I'm aware.
If the app you're wanting to promote is for a game, how do I create the demo? Or do game apps have demo landing pages for promotion?
Hi Ben. Recently I started watching the videos you shared about facebook ads. It's really great. I'm currently working on advertising campaigns for puzzle game apps. I'm having problems with measurement on IOS devices. So to be able to run ads for IOS apps, what do I need to do? Can you share with me how I can run IOS campaigns?
Definitely need more of those app installs video! Did you post anything related somewhere?
Not yet - but will do :)
Hi Ben, would be great if you could add some visual layouts while you speak. For example Tip #1 Clear CTA; Tip #2 Focus on Benefits - Thanks!
Good idea :)
Hey Ben! I am doing a case study on Zomato and would love to have your insights whether one should run a brand awareness ad for cold audience or app install directly? Also to promote in app purchase would you suggest conversions or optimising app installs for purchases too? Thanks a ton ✨
Hey .I'm also doing marketing for an app in dubai. Let's connect .
Super nice question! Did you manage to figure this out? Thanks in advance
Pls what if you haven't had any previous user to create your lookalike audiences from?
Should i use app install objective for first start .. or should try in-app event (subscription, purchase)
Thanks
Great question. You still need to use the App Installs campaign objective BUT you absolutely can optimise for app events instead of app installs and select something like purchase.
In our experience, that will generate a lower cost per purchase, but your cost per app install may be higher :)
Hey Ben. Great tips as always.
Is it possible to promote app ads to iOS 14.5+ (and also track app installs) on Facebook without installing the Facebook SDK on our app?
Hi Ben,
My lookalike audience from app installs consists of only 40 000 people is that enough to start using lookalikes also will the lookalike audience auto update and grow bigger as it's being used?
Thanks
Hi Andrey can I ask how you got so many users?
Would you still recommend lookalike or just go broad in 2024?
I loved this video! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
When you say “users” are you referring to people who have solely installed the app or people who “use” the app? Thank you.
Your great!
Hey ben can you do a video about how to advertise for clients. Like i mean how a person advertise for another persons page or website from our facebook ad manager . It will be really helpful
Thank you for your videos.
Great suggestion!
Do I need sdk to target lookalike audience for app downloads? Or is it enough to just connect my App to the add?
Very valuable advice. You should do an updated video after iOS 14.5
Will do!
@@BenHeath YES!!
I run app installs all the time and get good results. However, if I want to retarget people who’ve installed my app but haven’t subscribed, do I run a conversion campaign? If so, how and what should be my custom or standard conversion event? It just seems harder to run a conversions campaign with Facebook SDK. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Is it worth it to advertise a pre-register app?
It can be - but I would only do so if you have a large budget to play with
Hi Ben, may I ask why I cannot see the app event under the ‘optimisation for ad delivery?’ I have installed sdk, is that because the data is not enough to trigger fb to open the function for me?
Have you set up your app events? I haven't seen that not appear once they are configured.
@@BenHeath I have got the problem solved at last, thank you Ben for replying me anyway :)
Thank you Ben !
My pleasure!
Nice
Hi Ben please could I ask you a question, it would be so helpful as im am about to start my first ever app campaign.
I have about 300 avalible to spend on it right now, and my question is what would be the best strategy for me to try and see a return on spend.
Would it be best to go for installs and build up users then go for purchases, go straight for purchases, etc.
I can price my product anywhere from £5-100 so am also wondering the best pricing range to get a return on and allow scalling
Also it can be one time payment or subscription
I know you run an ads agency and this is how you make your money but it would be huge if you could give me some advice
Thank you
Hi, i am not able to track number of downloads and demographics for android app. Kindly guide
perfect brother
Much appreciated :)
Running ads on a relatively low budget at first. $7 a day, $50 a week. After targeting my audience and optimizing, the reach is only about 300 - 1k. With potential downloads at likely 0 (app installs) and likely link clicks at 7-30 (link clicks). Do you think it is even worth running app install ads with these numbers, or should I just go for link clicks and reach? Also with a daily budget of $7, should my projected numbers be larger, or is this about par with other app advertisements? Thanks!
Yes you can run an app installs campaign at that level. It's often a good idea to test small and then scale once you have worked out what deliver results. With that sort of budget you are just going to have to wait a while to see results.
I am getting this "Your ad set may have zero app installs" warning when I setup the Ad Set. Any tips on why?
Don't worry about it - those predictions are often very innacurate
Hi, if your app is brand new and you have no database of users. What should you do?
Hi Myriam, in that case check out this video to find great targeting options: ua-cam.com/video/NzSkAZHxWcs/v-deo.html
Then once you have a couple hundred installs you can create the lookalike audience described in this video :)
Any suggestions for in-app-purchase mobile games facebook advertising would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Ben, is there a step by step video on how to do APP install ad? thanks
I don't have one yet but that's a good idea. I'll add that to the to-do list.
Ben Heath alrite .. thanks Ben. Your videos really helps me a lot . Thanks again Ben
plz we need demonstration more than talking thanks
