SOUTHERN BLOOD serves as a remarkable final testament from an artist whose contributions have truly shaped rock & roll throughout the past four decades. Gregg Allman's first all-new recording since 2011's GRAMMY® Award-nominated solo landmark, LOW COUNTRY BLUES, the album is among the most uniquely personal of the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer's career, an emotionally expansive collection of songs written by friends and favorite artists including Jackson Browne, Willie Dixon, Jerry Garcia & Robert Hunter, Lowell George and Spooner Oldham & Dan Penn, meant to serve as a salutary farewell to his legion of devoted fans and admirers. Allman collaborated on his closing project with manager and dear friend Michael Lehman and GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Don Was, a longtime acquaintance and staunch supporter committed to helping the rock icon actualize his very specific aspirations.
    About GREGG ALLMAN:
Gregg Allman was undoubtedly among rock and roll's greatest and most significant artists, his soul-fired and still utterly distinctive voice one of the defining sounds in all of American music. From his founding role in the one and only Allman Brothers Band to his long and storied solo career, Allman consistently proved himself to be an iconic singer/songwriter and exceptional practitioner of the American blues tradition. Allman accrued a remarkable list of honors over his five decade career, including the ABB's 1995 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award at the 54th Annual GRAMMY® Awards. Allman detailed his brilliant career in 2012's acclaimed memoir, My Cross To Bear. Now available in both hardcover and paperback, the New York Times bestseller chronicles an astonishing life and creative journey burdened by unimaginable loss, alcohol and drug addiction, told with clear-eyed wisdom and sharp hindsight.

On the eve of a year without Gregg Allman here on our earth with us. I bow my head in honor of a friend, a family and band that have warmed my soul for decades before and I pray for decades to come......My heart and soul will sit at Rose Hill on guard tonight and for a few days for my friend, and all friends I have lost in the crazy music business. You Will Not Be Forgotten Rest in Music Sir

Some songs are just Holy Music from the first. John Prine wrote like that. "Angel From Montgomery" Joni Mitchell writes like that. "Blue". I'm just so grateful to live in an age where giants filled the air with their magic for the mere asking.

It's music. I put it in to HEAR it. Not to worry about looking at the people playing the instruments.
Duane always said they, werent one of those bands that put on a big show on stage. That's why they usually came out in jeans & t-shirts & stuff. When you went to an ABB concert, you went to LISTEN TO THE MUSIC. You didn't go to look at them. They ain't the Rolling Stones or Kiss.
So, do like Duane said...sit back, close your eyes, and let the music take over. You don't need to see them to enjoy their music. Never have. Never will.

I seen my pretty Alice in every headlight
    Alice, Dallas Alice
I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari
    Tehachapi to Tonapah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
    Driven the back roads
    So I wouldn't get weighed
And if you give me weed, whites, and wine
And you show me a sign
I'll be willin'... to be movin'
Well, I've been kicked by the wind

Oh, Gregg. How we miss you. Gosh, we miss you, Brother. 🙏❤️🎸 Youve been a huge part of my life, ever since the day I was born. My daddy ensured that when he gave me the middle name Duane, after his favorite guitar player of all-time, Howard Duane Allman.
I've listened to ABB all of my life, from before I was ever born. And it shows. Today, I play guitar because of Duane Allman. Solely because of Duane Allman.
That's how amazing Duane was. He's still inspiring people to learn to play guitar almost 50 years after his death. Gosh, we miss you, too, Duane. If only...
ABB would've been the greatest rock band of all-time had Duane not been taken from us so soon. I mean, yea...me and many others already believe they're the best there's ever been. But I believe that, had Duane made it this long, many many others would agree that ABB is the best there's ever been. And not just us ABB lovers.

No offense meant, but this a very pedestrian video. Gregg is in good voice, but is clearly overdubbing a vocal here, no feeling, or possible interaction with other musicians, since they have already been recorded. When overdubbing became possible, it got rid of microphone "bleed". But overdubbing is a double-edged sword. Prior to overdubbing, any mistake by one musician would require that all of them had to record another take. But that concentrated the mind and the spirit. This is the opposite of live music. This video is like watching paint dry, IMHO.
