Your recollection of how BABYMETAL came to be is a little off. They are a manufactured group from a talent agency in Japan, they started as a sub-unit of another Idol group, Sakura Gakuin, before becoming an independent group due to their success. They have a team of song writers, composers, musicians, and other staff behind them.
The band that plays with them live is made up of different session musicians that may cycle in and out, they have even had other musicians when touring overseas. The instruments in the studio versions are generally not played by these same musicians also.

Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse.
Is always nice to see people giving them a second chance. They're more mature now but the crew around are some of the same who helped them out to get this massive success with the songs but also with the outstanding live performance.
They got another new single already released a couple of days ago and 3 more to come next year before album release.
It seems you got some info wrong, here's some basic for you.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist.
    *MoaMetal* scream and dance.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
    None of them are related.
When this song came out i really love it like everyone else especially for two reasons, the drum & bass elements, which i love because of bands like Pendulum, and second because it was SuMetal first time credited on the lyrics, just like Moa and Yui, now she got her own song and reach one of her dreams comes true. Of course the rest of the elements are cool too like the heavy intro guitars and the BMTH resemblance.
Many fans (including me) were relating the horse/cavalry imagery, and many others sections of the lyrics, including the title, with the anime series Attack On Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin), they're bringing us a new lore and a metalverse with 10 different worlds and songs that probably are connected in this concept album some how some way, now with the new single out the picture is slowly changing and getting away from that first vision I had, you'll see about it once you get there.
Meanwhile we can say that this song carry the spirit and message of songs like Road Of Resistance but this is more like a call to arms and fight for your future, perhaps.
But anyway that's just me and we'll get the full picture of everything on this when the full album comes out next year, probably more hints with the next singles and the live performance. OTFGK.
You can find the official lyrics of this pinned on the comments.
If you want another different set of songs from BabyMetal then i recommend you songs like:
    - Ijime Dame Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014
    - Rondo Of Nightmare live at Budokan 2014
    - Iine! official MV
    - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997
    - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official
    - Tales Of Destinies live at Tokyo Dome 2016
    - From Dusk Till Dawn live at Budokan 2021
    - BxMxC live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020
    - Sis Anger live at Tokyo Dome 2016
    - Babymetal Death live at Legend 1997
And there's more but you go for this set and then go back and tell me they're the "samey", i can only agree that they got similar theme on some lyrics but in this case they're giving us a concept album coming next year, so what we're guessing probably will change once is all revealed.
Some of these clips you'll find at Babymetal Reactor Resource, just look for Future Plans short vid and follow instructions to get watermarked logo clips safe to react.
Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts on this and see you next time.🦊🤘

Thanks for the very in depth comment and back history of the band!
Plus thoes suggestions will keep me going for a while!
Ok so anything I have heard given this and the last few years has been very samey for me since my first listen to them was Gimme chocolate and MEGITSUNE era kinda of stuff so in comparison this one felt rather boring. But I have not listened to them at all since then. Some people seen to dislike the songs iv named where as these are great in my taste so hopefully other stuff going forward will be up to that standard

@@PaulTheStageHand Yes the waters are split when it comes to Gimme Chocolate!! but Megitsune is in high regards generally.
You can find Rondo Of Nightmare clip safe to react at "Kawaii Metal" channel.
      - Headbanger!! at "Gans Tomas" under "Head Bangya" title.
      - Babymetal Death at "GuilhermeCait" with the narrated intro translated in the description.
Others songs at official just be careful and put some filters like opacity or translucent effect to avoid being blocked, watermarked logo also works.
      Thanks.🦊🤘

Good reaction - but if you think BABYMETAL songs are "samey" you have clearly only heard one or two of their more 'fun' songs - 'Gimme Chocolate' being the prime example.
This is their first new song in 3 years (other than the collaboration with Bring Me The Horizon) and the first song for the new album coming out next March - as such it would be the relatively "safe" first single - we can only guess at what will be on the rest of the album.
They have about 50 songs (and counting since the new album will be released in March), they have songs in virtually every metal genre (thrash, djent, black, death, folk, prog, power, speed, nu-metal etc), but they will also mix in so many different musical styles and genres including Bollywood, rap, hip hop, ska, reggae, Latin, Finnish polka, pop and more ... and usually when you least expect it.
One thing they have never been is "samey" - it is the fact they refuse to be pigeonholed or categorised, stuck in just one box producing song after song, album after album all sounding the same (like so many other bands) that makes them so popular - they never get boring.
They started off in 2010 as three girls, Su-metal on lead vocals, Yuimetal and Moametal as 'scream and dance' providing backing vocals, harmonies and in charge of hyping the crowd, getting everybody involved and joining in, leading chants, getting the crowd to jump, pump their fists or whatever.
Sadly at the end of 2017 Yuimetal was injured or taken ill, she missed a couple of huge shows and was absent for the 2018 tour. She announced in October 2018 that she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band.
Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo.
No, they were never contestants on a show like Pop Idol - that is a common misunderstanding. They were members of a Japanese Idol group called Sakura Gakuin formed by the Amuse talent agency to coach and train the most talented girls on their books aged between 10 and 15 (it had a school theme) in all aspects of the entertainment industry (acting, writing, singing, dancing, modelling, presenting, stage management etc) with a view to them choosing how to progress their careers when they reached school leaving age (15 in Japan).
With the school theme Sakura Gakuin set up sub-units like after school clubs (tennis, cooking, science, baton twirling etc) and two or three of the girls would be in each club with themed song and dance routines they would perform at SG shows and at Idol Festivals where other Idol groups would also perform.
BABYMETAL was formed as the 'Heavy Music Club' around the extraordinary talents of Su-metal - she was the inspiration for this idea from their producer, a life long metalhead who was working in the kids division of Amuse. He saw her performing with her previous JPop Idol group and was so impressed with her vocals and stage presence that he had the idea of fusing Jpop with his favourite music Metal.
Amuse thought he was mad, there was no money or obvious future for metal in Japan at that time, but they allowed him to have his pet project - at no financial risk to Amuse since they provided him no extra budget.
After Su-metal's 15th birthday she was due to graduate from Sakura Gakuin. Against all the odds BABYMETAL had gained their own audience and it was decided they should separate from SG to become an independent band in their own right.
More budget was provided and at last they could hire musicians to form a backing band playing live (they had got as far as they did already despite singing and dancing to pre-recorded instrumentals).
Your friends are right - BABYMETAL are one of the very best live bands on the planet - and they have international awards to show that is not just my opinion.
In April and May Sabaton (who opened for BABYMETAL in Japan in 2018) have invited them to tour the UK and Europe as special guests.
Jake Muller has provided some good suggestions for more reactions - and they should show just how much they are anything but "samey".
Apologies for the wall of text - you seemed like you might be open for better info and another look or two at what they really have to offer.🦊

I wont be going to see them with Sabaton as I will not have the chance to go which sucks Sabaton are amazing live.
Il be adding Jakes list to the reactions and I did state in his reply Gimme chocolate and MEGITSUNE was what introduced me to them and they are bangers not sure why the hate on chocolate since this is the kind of diversity I was hoping for and found this song to just blend into stuff they have done int he last few years so its all a bit samey to me but willing to check out more to be shown otherwise 🤘

@@PaulTheStageHand Thanks for the reply - no hate on 'Gimme Chocolate', it is great fun live and you wouldn't believe the mosh pits it starts. OK it isn't my favourite song by a long way ('Megitsune' is right up there though), but I would miss it if they didn't play it live.
The thing is, it is just one song and seems to be the only one most people have heard and so many think every other song will be just like it, which just isn't the case - sadly it also turned a lot of people off them thinking "little girls, squeaky voices, gimmick" which is such a shame as it is so far from telling the whole story.

    > "... if there is some more song that are a bit more different ..."
That's a tough one since they tend to experiment a lot with different styles. Basically, you could go with the entire catalog and just pick one song after another. It would never get boring, I promise! Also: The live versions, usually, are much better. And try to avoid compilation videos.
And as someone already recommended: Watch the guide (we won't mind if you do a reaction). They have quite an unusual history. ua-cam.com/video/gDne0xwniTg/v-deo.html

You were a bit off with your babymetal origin. BABYMETAL girls where not participating in japanese pop idol contest. However they were part of a idol group (Sakura Gakuin) before babymetal so it's understanable how you cold mix those together. They also released a second single of their upcoming album called "Monochrome" couple of days ago. It would be nice to see you react to that aswell.
Edit. Now finished your reaction and I have to strongly disagree with your sentiment that babymetals songs feel a bit "samey" in my opinion one of babymetals strenghts is that their songs are vastly different so there is something for everyone. I'll still keep my recommendation of the newest song "Monochrome" since it is pretty different from Divine Attack and it's kind of hard to succest older material since I don't know what you have already heard.

    • @PaulTheStageHand
      @PaulTheStageHand  Рік тому +3

I mean this one sounds very generic compared to other stuff I have heard of theirs so hopefully Monochrome which you and others have suggested will make a better impression. Cheers for the update on the origin, it was a long time ago I last looked at them.
      Cheers for watching!

@@PaulTheStageHand I'm not saying you're wrong. Divine Attack is a more 'normal' song but its not like every Babymetal song is wild and crazy. I think, early on there was that contrast of them being little girls vs heavy metal. That was the driving force behind their music. Everything they do is going to be a WTF experience because of that. For example, if they wrote 'Sis Anger' today, I think people would see it as a generic metal song. It worked back then because you expect deep growling voices but instead get these cute little girl squeaky voices. Now that they are adults, that contrast is obviously gone so they have to try different approaches.

If you say that you don't want to be appreciated after a couple of songs, you may not be able to afford to give so many chances to one band in the limited time of your life. If this doesn't work, then so be it; that seems to be the thinking on BABYMETAL's part. They have too many resources of talent. That's why they can't narrow it down to just one. Every band has its weaknesses, but I think it's appropriate to listen to the full album and evaluate it. Personally, I would say that BABYMETAL is the best rock band in the world.
