    As an issaquah school district grad, I just have to throw out there, the school district is not great across the board. The city of Issaquah is also no longer averaging in the price range you mentioned that was like maybe 2016 when prices were still that lowish…I bought a house further south in Bonney Lake/Sumner for the prices mentioned here for issaquah. People are moving away from the Eastside because it’s not affordable whatsoever. Townhomes In issaquah I’ve seen go for as much as 950k depending on where they are…I grew up in issaquah, it used to be a very quaint small town in the foothills of the mountains, you could own many acres of land for under a million, and the vibe was lots of hikers and families lived there…it’s still beautiful but it’s expanding and growing fast and not what it once was…even people who have lived there their whole lives have sold their homes in favor of cities like Covington and Maple Valley…now it’s all tech people who couldn’t afford Redmond, Kirkland and Sammamish so took a 150k price cut on housing to go 15 minutes further. Redmond also has a big homeless problem these days, and they are actually turning an old hotel into a homeless living space. Redmond in my opinion is becoming a crossbreed of issaquah and Seattle combined.

      i totally agree. i moved to issasquitch around 1980, and the only bidness there was a burger stand, and i think a small grocery store. that was pretty much it. oh - and the trailer park/ one bedroom apt complex that i lived in, that was across I90 from the burger joint. the trailer park hosted rv'ers, and the apt complex hosted the locals.

    Idling along in Puget Sound freeway gridlock AM and PM 5 days a week for a few years will cure any notion you have of those being the "best places" to live in WA. I made it 20 years before walking away from all that and moving to the rural midwest. Outdoor life in western WA? Get in line - take a number. 30 years ago I went out at the crack of dawn to fish for steelhead on the upper Green and driving over the Flaming Geyser bridge at sun up saw 15+ fishermen already working the current, standing 20' apart or less and casting as if "syncronized fishing" were a thing. Where I moved in the rural midwest I often had the canal / river / lake all to myself. If "best places to live" includes affordability and the ability to hear yourself think and be at peace, look elsewhere than western WA. Cool little towns in eastern WA? Goldendale, Stevenson, Winthrop, Twist, Omak, Republic, Kettle Falls, Chelan. Clallam Co. is turning to crap thanks to the weekened vacationers that clog 101 from late Memorial to Labor day and all summer long. I wish someone would sink the Hood Canal bridge again.

    I remember when Issaquah and Redmond were a fish hatchery and a general store with a gas station. I used to live/grew up in Renton (60s and 70s) and would my dad and I would drive half way to Issaquah to a makeshift shooting range (We had to get out of the city limits). I'm sure I would not even recognize the place any more. Western WA used to be "the undiscovered country."

    Pullman is almost 35.000 people....It's best described as a town with a University alongside of the town. Downtown Pullman is a tragedy with about 50% of the retail spaces vacant. It's a great town to raise children in but, not much entertainment around. Moscow Idaho about 10 miles east of Pullman has far better downtown & food selection in downtown. Pullman does have a Chipolte so? I guess it has that going for it. There are bars up on College Hill unlike Moscow where the students have to go down to main street to grab a drink. House rental quoted isn't realistic if you want decent home....at least $1200-1400....

      I was born in so. King co. in the mid-1950's. Dad who grew up there used to tell me about the local cops who would tell people of color it wasn't a good idea to live there. That carried through the mid 70's when I graduated and my class of 500 +/- was 98% white. Sad to hear an almost entirely all white community claim to be inclusive. It was even more noticeable to me when in retirement I moved to the rural midwest after remarrying, and the town boasted of being on the undreground railroad - and site of an emancipation speech by Lincoln. No one knew the new black family who moved to town, other than "where". And most of those born and raised there could tell you where the black people of historical note were buried in the local cemetary. So yes, I get the passive aggressive racism deal - just ignore people of color or refuse to include them and they'll move on. My hometown is no longer that way - affordability of housing saw explosive growth there and it's much more diverse.

    I've resided in Tacoma area for 40 years. It has really gone down hill. Our "leaders" give handouts to homeless which attracts more homeless. • @indigowolf556
      @indigowolf556 2 роки тому +4

      I disagree on the governor giving homeless people handouts. I don't know what kind of handouts they are getting? I live over in western Washington in a small town and every city every county every state is dealing with an overpopulation of homeless people because everyone is being priced out of their league because of high rents. And Washington state does not have rent control but a group of advocates in Seattle are working to put it on the ballot so that there is rent control. Which has been needed in this area for a long long time. That way landlords can't raise the rent two or $300 every 6 months. I mean look at the people who lost their jobs due to covid and some people legitimately have been really working with their landlords trying to catch up. Well other people just took advantage and said hey I'm not going to pay my rent until I get help how is that fair that just sucks for the landlord because now they have their own mortgage plus the mortgage of the rental. But we had some homeless people as every town does and there was a lot of them and most of them are people with mental issues these aren't the people that you see on a sweet charming Hallmark Channel movie where it's a dad and mom and a couple of kids something bad happened and they're trying to work their way back into a house or an apartment or whatever because that's not reality. Most of these people are just people with mental issues not taking their meds or selling their meds for more drugs I don't know what their issues are but what are you going to do with these people? You can't put them in jail because they'll just be right back out on the street again doing what they did. They live in the tent cities they ruin the area they start fights in the town that we have there's been stabbings and it's horrible. So that the government or the governor of Washington state is not giving these people a handout or anything like it so I don't know where that idea came from just saying.

    How old is this video? Learn how to say the names of the cities. Also, the incomes mentioned isn’t reality as well as rent and home prices. If you want to showcase Washington, you should film in Spring or summer, not when there’s snow on the ground, which doesn’t happen that often, with trees being bare and after a rain. Pullman? What about Spokane, Everett, or Tacoma?

      Well there should be tons of jobs anywhere in the United States because people are leaving them. And I like Washington there's probably some cities I wouldn't live in but I live in a small area and even in my little town there's tons of jobs because people left them or covid ran them into closing I mean even the hospital is having a hiring fair. So now is a great time to get a job but $1,700 for a two-bedroom is about the rent that is in my little neck of the woods sometimes it's $2,000 so it doesn't matter where you go unless you're in one of those little piss in towns on these videos that has a population of five maybe the rent is cheap there but it's probably a broken down trailer or a shed

    Why you completely blew off Spokane is beyond me ? Great place to live with a friendly "down to earth" population. The low crime rate and cost of living were major draws for me when I decided to vacate the hellhole that is the "Golden State" 35 years ago.🤮 There are plenty of things to do here year round with as many amenities as the other cities you mentioned and sometimes even more IMO. Yeah I know all about the sigma placed on people who move north from California from the natives and believe me it's a real thing. Thankfully the people were warm and welcoming and within no time I felt right at home with all that stress, anger, and anxiety which is quite prevalent in California melting away within a very short period of time. Love it here and would never consider moving back. Just my two cents.

    Pullman - low cost of living - wrong. only 5% under the national avg. The water is awful - tastes like pesticides, costs an arm and a leg and they just started rationing yard watering in the summer. They build more and more houses every year, but they haven' solved the water issue. Our property taxes virtually doubled this year over last year. The city doesn't fix the streets even though they're getting a windfall of taxes from all of the development in the area. They tried to sleeze a biofuel plant next to a residential area, but the citizens got out the pitchforks and torches and that was averted. A liberal judge in the area let a armed robber go free to get some medical issues taken care of. She was supposed to come back in a week, but guess what...she didn't. A few years ago, they allowed a Section 8 apartment complex to come in and the crime has definitely increased. Find a different place to move to. Idaho is a good place.
