Excellent video, great tips. And I really appreciate the lack of spoilers. I was annoyed when an IGN video's first 30s did nothing but spoil all the new cinematics in the game!
Some players prefer to survive alone in this game. So, they would get rid of Kelvin and Virginia. If you're playing in hard survival, keep them alive because they are really useful in hard survival.
Yeaaahhhh... I accidentally killed them both.. In hard survival..
Also when picking a spot to build, use natural barriers like deep streams and cliffs to reduce how many resources you spend on making a defensive wall and it's one or more less directions to watch over.
Basically If you don't know what to do.. Throw logs!

Here’s a tip for leveling up strength: eat a stew that gives the strength+ buff and your strength will level up much faster with each time you swing a melee weapon. If you do nothing but swing to level up your strength, you can go up by about two levels a day even if you’re at level 40 or higher, provided that the strength+ buff is active while you swing.
I personally used the Boiled Meat stew to activate the strength+ buff since it’s cheap and easy to make, though the buff will last much longer if you eat the Greg stew instead. The Greg stew is a lot more expensive however, so I just use Boiled Meat.
The 13th fact isn’t true, make sure to keep up with the new update!

I don't hear him talking about how much of a cake walk enemies are or how it takes 15 days to get to winter, so normal to hard setting are more likely what he's using over custom.
TLDR: Custom makes none of this valid since you can adjust everything. He must be talking about normal or another set difficulty.
@jxffa1878 nope, even on normal in 1.0 this isn't true. Loot only respawns in caves by default. You'll need a custom game to make it respawn on the surface
I dunno about the crates but in my game when I save, leave, and rejoin, all the items have refreshed and I have a normal world
#39 is incorrect. Chopping out stumps does not stop trees from regrowing as the trees do not regrow from stumps. As long as no structures are within a certain range and tree regrowth is turned on trees when chopped will spawn as sapplings randomly near the chopped tree and grow over time.
You're positive trees dont respawn from trunks?
@iamgoo trees do respond from trunks because I've left trunks outside my base wall and they respawn in the same spot and if you don't want them to respond destroy the trunk but if you do want them don't
God i wish this game was on console absolute love the forest and im sure this one is better and gonna be getter better with every update

Tip 13.5 - open loot boxes with a melee weapon rather than with a key press, as this will help gradually increase your strength stat.
the enemie spam is so awful if you build a base they just keep coming w more n more armor i just want to build my house man ;_;
don't build near paths or enemy bases
I was watching this as it downloaded on my steam the second the vid got done so did the game I'm so happy
I want to play this so bad! I bought it when it released but I’m to scared to play it lol. Nothing worse than trying to build something and seeing a cannibal watching you from the trees.
It's not as scary as you think

This is awesome and I've already figured a few of these out, I just got the game last week on sale. I love it and can't wait to learn the story, what I don't love is the crashing that tends to happen. Today I've discovered that if I don't have chrome or discord running, the game won't crash, knock on wood! And the enemies in this game seem to be more difficult than the previous game, I'm getting a little stressed.😅😅

Bow fan tip : if you run out of arrow and still want rely on ranged attack, just like with logs you can pick up some heavy rocks on the ground and throw them on ennemies. Saved me few times and those are comon to find in some areas.
Now that i learned that i can just craft arrows in combat i'm not sure this is very use full tho 😅
Loot in the overworld no longer respawns when you reload (unless you set it to in the custom game menu).
Loot in crates don't respawn but anything out of them do

Hello, can you make a guide for looting rotations? What i mean is, lets say i run out of tape, wires, etc. and i need more of them, what would be the best zone, route to loot to get more of them when i reload the game?
i'm pretty sure they made it so items in containers don't respawn in version 1.0, however i may be wrong as i havnt tested that yet
I suggest you use the Sons of the Forest map from Map Genie to see spawn locations in the meantime
@@KevintheRhea I think MapGenie is yet to be updated to 1.0. MMO Map is a work in progress regarding 1.0 release. Might check that out 👍
Boxes dont refil when you reload the game

@boobtronic9000 there is an option when you start a custom game to make boxes refill on reloading tho

But other than that, that setting is turned off by default if you choose one of the 3 options they provide > normal/hard/hard survival
If you wanna make double stairs with walls on either side. Just use a rope on the ground and you can connect it to the second floor and place planks on it. The only downside is that it looks more like a ramp than stairs
Here's a tip putting food on a drying rack and waiting until it dries will infinitely preserve it downside eating it decreases your water a little bit but instead of eating it you can cook it which gets rid of the water decrease

it's funny, i bought the game as soon as it was for sale, and I just now load it up for the first time lol.
one thing I don't understand, is how do you know when food on a fire is ready to eat? most games have some kind of timer.
also, what wall is better against enemies, stone or pointy logs?
Youre a cannibal, manhandling this poor bastard, all of a sudden, youre frozen, cant move, but that poor bastard for some reason opened up his backpack and eating meds for lunch as youre still unable to move, then you realise youre not the main character and piss yourself in the pants as hes packing back his stuff with no rush

The mutant girl is friendly and can become a companion. It takes awhile for her to warm up to you

build your base on a beach as the cannabils cannot go into water and seagulls are an easy source of food if you have a spear
how did you make such a high-quality picture? Do you play in 4K resolution? I have the maximum game settings, 2k resolution and dlls 3.0 quality, but the picture seems blurry (I tried taa smoothing, but the situation is getting even worse...
Here's a tip try to find the portable glider as soon as you spawn because it's the fastest way to travel
And with the new update you can put it in your inventory

I have now updated it and find it not playing smooth. when I turn the screen is blurry as fuck until I stop. ive tried a lot of settings and can't find out what's causing it. motion blur is off and ive tried TAAU and am using FSR 3.0

I'm not sure if it's just me but the lighter is useless at night I can see better in the dark without it it's like having a light cone around you but everything outside that light cone gets darker but with the lighter turned you can still see further than with the lighter
Just want to see if drying racks make meat rotten over time. Cause me and my friend did a 2 player game, and whenever we put cannibal meat or regular meat on our drying racks inside our home, it goes rotten.

The muddies is kinda adorable and annoying or can be a joke sometimes, so I just played recently, and it's night time, and I actually gathering logs/chopping trees minding my own business, then suddenly I hit something and shouted and attacked and died immedietly as my health is low at that time.
So yeah, I actually got jumpscared to a game, and this is not occur to me in a long while.
Can you still build on the water when it freezes?
