Subclass 300 Prospective Marriage visa
Partner Visas are for those who are in committed relationships with Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents and intend spending the rest of their lives together. These visas are for committed couples who are either married, intend to marry very soon, or are in genuine established de facto relationships. These are NOT for those couples who are not ready for commitment yet.
Prospective Marriage Visas are also known as "Fiancee Visas" and are for those committed couples who are planning to marry in Australia and to apply for a (simplified) onshore partner visa after that. The applicant has 12 months from the visa grant date to (a) enter Australia, (b) marry the sponsor and (c) lodge the new application for the onshore partner visa. The applicant can remain in Australia from the moment they arrive, as long as they do these three things.
