- What would happen if all buildings and forces didn't cost anything and were created instantly in Command & Conquer: Red Alert Remastered? In Episode 2, we have an epic Free For All (FFA) between the USSR, Ukraine (Soviets), Spain and Greece (Allies).

I like the thought of the Ukrainian army's high command literally hiding in a dog house in the middle of a war zone. Its even better that they won the game too.
Ironically, Soviet's last standing building was dog house.

just watching ukraines two factories pump out consistent tanks like yo.... they onto something ahahhah there;s still a kennel in their base too.. what a win!
@@kmcombine4773 They were losing at the start, but the come back was real! It also seems like the mod made it so that the unit production is not slowed down by low or no power. If it was normal game, they would have lost because no power makes production extremely slow.
@@bangscutter IIRC speed is based off unit cost, so seeing as everything is free, they should all build just about instantly in any case.
The Soviet player was just trying to play a quiet game of Sim City in the background, and all these people kept insisting on blowing up his power plants.
I knew Ukraine would win because faster units. The crap building placement almost lost the game tho. Capturing that second war factory at 1:33 was EPIC

This was more exciting than I anticipated. My favorite colour is orange, so I was gutted when he lost his yard early, but holy fuck did those 2 war factories just pump out tanks the entire game. It was so exciting when he first took down red from the side, and in the end when he made desperate pushes for the teal construction yard and the two war factories. Haha can't believe orange won in the end. What a game :D
Did you see the sick engineers play? It took over two of blues war factories. Without them it was screwed. Edit: 1 blue and 1 green.
Orange best colour indeed, and what a play. You wouldnt think its a AI, if it werent for the godlike micro
This is a perfect example of perseverance. Keep on pushing even if the Odds are against you.
That was totally unexpected. Thought orange totally was a loser after losing MC so quickly. Thought red was going to win with such a strong defensive position. Also orange focused fired down teal's production facilities, which seemed like a strategy a computer wouldn't do - amazing.

@igotes I don't know much this game, but that how it looked for me - they lost a technology to build higher tech vehicles and ability to acquire technology so they spammed the only best option they had which was better then a tesla tank.

I was honestly expecting Russia to lose practically immediately due to the disadvantage. Cheaper units don't really do much if everything is free. Even if they lost I'm impressed they held out for so long.
Speaking of impressive, awesome on Orange for the victory. Definitely looked like they were the underdogs here with losing their conyard early.
But was it really a disadvantage?, cheaper units might also mean faster production of the units due to the lower costs of them*

Why does the Soviet AI's always building their defences in stupid places?
The Allies seem to be random. But the Soviets are always on the out skirts of the map behind the powerplants?!

I have been wondering the same thing. But I thought the cheaper units(faster production) bonus would bring them to victory together with their good position, but the outcome was another.

I have to say, I was impressed by Spain's infantry. Their damage output is no joke. They still lost to soviet tank spam, but still. They held on a really long time.
What a comeback! I thought Ukraine was done for in the first few minutes!

USSR: Cheaper units: “Victo.... wait... WTF?”
This just goes to show how incredibly well balanced this game was, even with (some) unique units and stats, no faction has a decisive advantage.
A very surprising result. I thought faster movement speed is not particularly strong - and extra range is very strong.
The better to crush infantry with- sure those pesky buggers might not hurt all that much on their own, but ignore them too long and it can snowball.
This is what the command and conquer phone game could have been. Oh well....
If only the AI had been a bit wiser about placement of base defences. xD

That was brilliant! Ukraine managing to steal that second war factory was their saving grace in the early game but what really gave them the victory was the fact that they only spammed heavy tanks and didn't even bother with the tesla tanks. Rushing with heavy tanks being by far the most viable strategy in the game, tho of course considering that everything is free, mammoth tanks would have made even more sense.
Red vs Orange outcome was mainly due to the way the AI is programmed. A human player would've instantly focused the Orange factory to end the tank spam, while the AI kept fighting an endless wave of tanks.

I can't stop laughing at the miners running over infantry. IDK how often do they get to wreck havoc on the enemy team but its absolutely hilarious when they do.
It was sooo epic! I was so sure red (soviets) would win :) But pleeeaaase we do need this mod as well! It'd be sooo much fun!

Wow, that come back from orange! In early game, they were losing, and didn't even have conyard left. Then somehow the AI just spammed heavy tanks ftw.
They could only build heavy tanks, they didn't unlock tesla tanks :)
@@StuGames This mods makes the unit production speed the same regardless of power requirements? Normally units build slow when low power, and extremely slow when no power at all.
This video makes me remember myself did similar tricks in RA95 many years ago, yeah just watch AIs fighting against each other, it's funny lol.
But I didn't know how to made 'everything is free', just threw tons of mineral at the center of the map, and increase the mineral's respawn rate.
And most important things were, 1. I made MCV invisible & tough as hell so that I can hide myself at a safe corner to be a watcher; 2. Made Allied Tech center 1$ and tough as hell, no prerequisite, set satelite to 1 second. All have to do is build tech center at a safe island, repack CY to MCV, and start watching lol. (Invisible MCV won't be used as a trick by AI cuz they would establish it immediately, as well as Allied tech center, they would sell it immediately after build it)

Lost the CY after 25 sek, overtake the war factory at 1:35 and then sit back let the rest do the work and come back from no wher! Nice!

It would be so cool to set an add-on that calculates all vitals like unit's health in percentage form and displays it on screen. For example:
Soviet:
Buildings 100%
Vehicles: 100%
Infantry: 100%
Clearly longer range is taking advantage in this map lol

Basically this demonstration shows the power of the heavy tank in a straight up fight. While both allies and the red soviet waste time building variety plenty of those units aren't durable. Orange due to have just a few buildings and can't build anymore to expand the tech tree is just pumping out whatever it can and it's only heavy tanks and infantry.
Cyan had a golden oppprtunity there when Orange was attacking what remained of Red. The Orange base was completely exposed, con yard destroyed. Instead he effed around and allowed orange to build up his forces

I wonder if there's like a "War Theory" on overall tactics of this game or any game in RTS like how there is theory in Chess. Just kinda thinking "out there"
Great Battle!!! Red wash crushing it! But then blue and yellow gang up on red to destroy them (I was hoping red kennel would survive the massacre as a monument to the battle), then finally blue could not withstand the onslaught of soviet armour.
Question: if soviets lose all tesla coils does that lose them ability to build tesla tank? Or do you retain that tech as soon as you build a coil no matter if you lose it? Because it seemed that yellow only built heavy tanks (which is a winning strategy)
Nope, once unlocked you can build a unit forever, unless you lose all your production! But Orange gets rushed so hard that they lose their CY before even building a tesla, which makes them build only heavies which seems to be the winning move!

Alright, that is just ridiculous. Ukraine had only one thing going for it for its country bonus, and the whole battle played out in a way where that speed actually allowed them to keep all enemies at arm's length despite not having a construction yard to replace anything they'd lose. The country with the 2nd most irrelevant bonus somehow took the victory.
Speed is actually meaningful when everything is free
Ukriane was the first one to loose the cosntruction yard - to a proxy turret no less - yet still won.
But I do not think any of them (except Spain) actually got defeated in the field. They simply lost their construction yard thanks to short distances and poor AI, resulting in them being unable to rebuild buildings. If they also lost their last barracks, there was simply no way for them to replace any production or power buildings.
I think you need to give the AI's a bit more room to expand, before they run into each other/the enemies construction yard. Those short distances cause aberations like turrets killing Yards, Turrets being placed in the corner as far from the enemy as possible, traffic jams and other stuff.

i thought in red alert you have to damage a building until it's hp bar is red?
also, how is orange able to produce that fast without any powerplants? xD
About Engineers - only in campaign. In mp Engineers capture buildings no matter hp.
I saw 3 engineers went in. The earlier 2 made some damage. But true that it's strange that the building was captured at lower half of green health instead of red.
Time to produce is based on unit price. Everything costs 0 = everything is built immediately, so the low power penalty doesn't matter.

I feel like this could be setup like Salty Bet. Like a twitch stream where you place virtual bets on your color, and just let this madness go. I'd watch that for hours.
My money was on red but damn orange was fantastic.
Ukraine had the interesting strategy of just ignoring the Spanish units and pushing through to attack the buildings. It paid off; the Spanish couldn't sustain troop production, and they lost from what was arguably a superior position.
All we need now is a combo of sea, land and air battle
These videos are so unpredictable right down to the end. But what does stronger infantry actually mean? firepower? armour? both?
If I remember the tooltip correctly (shows up when you're selecting a team), armour, damage, and speed are improved.
Omg, the orange heavy tank army were relentless. They just wanted to kill those other war factories. Red seemed to have a good starting position but the units weren't that effective.
two front war. green was too weak, which left a huge gap in the middle, while orange lost just the right building to not be able to expand to meet the teal. while red was sweeping over teal, orange backstabs red and force them into a two front war. from that point on it's just heavy tanks being op as usual.
One day the Soviets will evolve past the power plants in front lines base defences waaaay in the back, but until then...
Because Orange lost their ConYard and had no tesla coils, it meant all they built was Heavy Tanks - overwhelmed everyone - losing their ConYard gave them victory

Red mostly focussed on teal, and Orange as well. Several moments when a host of Orange tanks were in red territory, then drive south again. Funny how you can pick a side and get angry with just a video of a game.
Im an infantry guy, i was looking forward to Light blue winning, then i realise rockets are useless if mass tanks can move to the next spot before it hits them.. does cheaper units mean a faster build time ? If not, its an useless ability because EVERYTHING IS ALRDY FREE.

We need to expand this. Full tech tree with Naval Units added into the mix.

They're allowed to, they just don't want to! I'll make videos where I help them along a little bit in the future.
@@StuGames semms like the AI prefer spamming T1 units in those close quarter fights. So maybe if you give them more elbow room they will tech up faster

I think orange won as they did not build tesla tanks which might as well be made of paper! I am shocked they did as well after losing the con yard though!
They were not able to build tesla tanks because they didn't build a tesla coil to unlock it :) seemed to work out for them since tesla tanks require more micro / tactical play
It would be interesting to see the same maps but with the players in different starting positions.. Blue held up well because their CY was well shielded; the AI seems to place their buildings in the same positions if they can. Also would be nice to disable the ore refinery for these $0 FFAs.

Tech level settings maybe? So only basic buildings and units.

would have been a diffrent outcome if warfactories would have the same units from the side that build it. saw some AI take over other nations warfactories and building their own tanks in them.
