  • When Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast, all the hard work and heart Billy Durney put toward building his dream restaurant came to an unexpected halt. But that didn't stop this bodyguard-turned-pitmaster from pulling through for his Brooklyn community. He lifted his hometown's spirits with damn good barbecue, and in turn, they inspired his greatest pursuit yet.

Absolutely love Hometown. Will sit in traffic for 2 hours on the LIE and BQE to get there and another 45 minutes on line to get in. It's worth every second. I really hope this wins at the Festival. Great story, great people, and great food.

Billy we are kindred spirts. After Sandy I had my little BBQ going day and and day out to feed my friends and anyone walking by. The city needed some love and so happy you were there giving it out.

It's a beautiful thing when determination and caring transcend fear, politics, challenges and obstacles. Congrats to Billy for building a successful business around what he loves, much like the boys at Yeti have done. High quality products that people love is what it's all about.

Great empowering story of a seemingly good man. Makes one feel good to hear a story like this. Its the American dream. Sadly I cannot support YETI for they broke off relations with the NRA. Protect the 2nd and protect what YETI promotes in their videos. Sad they have to political minority.

    • @MagnumoftheMountains

Ridiculous. Folks would support RTIC, who stole Yeti designs, and then shrewdly capitalized on a non controversy? Grow up. Responsible gun owners should not support the NRA, which supports domestic terrorists and the fear of guns being taken away to prop up gun manufacturers. They long ago abandoned supporting actual responsible gun owners.

Yeti is absolute garbage. The yeti coolers have a 5-year warranty because the cheap foam that fills the lining of their coolers will start to degrade and then become useless after 5 years. Great marketing though.
