    I enjoyed this video very much for history AND for getting to look inside a real cave that our ancestors could have walked thru or lived in. However, my stomach kelp flipping on me for the close walls. I was sooo scared for you !! You folks are so brave to go in tight places like that and I do admire you but, worry for your safety. God bless you all !

    We had a Geronimo Hill we trained rapelling on at Ft. Sill, OK. In the on post museum I stood (barely) in Geronimo's tiny holding cell.

    So is it possible as the legend says that the soldiers from Fort Seldon chased Geronimo into the cave and he came out some other place ? I've been in the cave several times years ago but not very far .. good video

      That's the supposed folk story! I'm not sure if this cave is "the one", but that's what locals called it

    As much as i admire people exploring caves , I'm to old & fat to fit into those small gaps . I'll just wait out side & you can tell me all about what you found/seen. Thanks for the share , i really enjoyed this video.

      I wouldn't recommend going where we went into the cave without technical experience, but you can explore a nice amount of the cave without any gear other than light!

      @@artofaction yeah for sure I would get stuck if I did what you guys did. Was wondering though if you knew how far the cave did go back? I've been about as far as the St initials graffitied on the wall, however I'm a little too fat to make it to that other little hole, looked as of it kept going.

    Just a really small version of Carlsbad Caverns. Okay I haven't been back to Carlsbad Caverns for 42 years and things might have changed since the Jimmy Carter Days.

    How many geronimo caves are there? I no of one on the white mountain Apache reservation, and one in Tucson and one around young ariz.😮

      You might think that, but in fact people would explore with candles, lanterns, and some evidence has been found suggesting ancient people exploring with torches in other caves

      I can't speak to the current state of the cave, as I am no longer nearby it, but as of a year ago, it was relatively clean!

    Oh fuck I totally got claustrophobia watching this. Not like a mine where there are cave ins and you know if you dig there’s more tunnel. Are you nuts? Maybe just big balls. Haha

      Mines can be definitely more sketchy, this cave has been there for millions of years though, so we rolled the dice with some pretty slim odds of something happening while we were inside 🤙

      @@artofaction I’d rather gnaw my own arms off than go into a cave. I’m a coward with heights and caves. Now, going into an underwater cave system with a tank and stuff…..that’s just the stuff of nightmares to me. Lol.

    They called him that name for many reasons one because in the cave well was a shaft that you had to jump into water deeper down and swim thru to get to well another shaft that led deeper nobody has been to an end that I'm aware of unless a cave in happened and could be possible yet the secret societies like to keep it open 👐

      It is in the robledos, about 10 minutes north on valley from Las Cruces, you cross the Rio grande about at hope road

    Not in a kazillion years would i do this, wow!! Now the real challenge is to pull all your rope away and find your way out lol. I wonder if there are any flamable gasses in there, certainly Geronimo had to use a torch since flash lights were not around back then.

      Haha it's not that bad. Last time I went in there there were a few crickets and one or two daddy long legs. Haven't seen a snake yet although it's definitely possible!

    Great scenery however very disjointed. Leaves the viewer unable at times to determine just what direction you are facing.

      Thanks for the feedback. I am still working on my editing skills, and tried to make the best I could with the footage I had, which was difficult to get from the cave in good quality.
      This is by no means a professional production video, merely me trying to share an experience I thought was cool.

      It's on all trails as well, I heard Geronimo made to the other side, when being chased by Union soldiers from fort Selden.

    Geronimo was most;ly in Arizona and Mexico up until he was moved to Ft Sill. I really doubt he was ever in what is now New Mexico.

      Geronimo's cave is what this cave is called locally, he supposedly escaped from a fight at this cave. I was unable to figure out how he would escape from exploring it myself, but it's an interesting story for the cave.

      Wrong buddy he was born in the headwaters of the west fork of the Gila River which is in the Gila wilderness in New Mexico. Check out hi history know it all!

      Geronimo was shipped to Florida for awhile ... travel down the Tombigbee River in Alabama stayed in the Fort Mount Vernon, it's currently a boat ramp with picnic table and a cleared area with a historical marker, ... and along the Gulf Coast, Fort Pickens near Pensacola ... Native Americans could travel great distances on foot.. u.s. cavalry used Apache Scouts to run on foot with the cavalry traveling many miles.

      The whole reason why Ft. Seldon is located North of Las Cruces, NM is because of Geronimo raiding the surrounding area.
