- This is incredible, real time footage of the Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis filmed on January 24th during the peak of a Solar Storm. This is not time-lapse, this is how the Northern Lights really can dance and move across the sky. The colours are true as well. We even captured a shooting star at 02:30.
The video was filmed during one of my annual Northern Lights photo and video expeditions. I'm running more of these in 2014: www.wild-weather.com/northern-...
Shot using a Sony PMW-F3 using a 2 frame slow shutter, S-Log and +18db gain (ISO 6400). Sadly compressing to H264 makes the video a bit blocky and with a lot of banding. I'll try to upload a higher quality version once I return home from Norway at the beginning of Feb. - Наука та технологія
This is one of the things I want to see before I die...
If you're from the US check Norwegian Air. They are having a new route added and you can get round trip from US to Norway for under $500. Good luck!
That's just what my son and I said. This has to be nature at its best. And btw, love the Eagles...that's my team too.
Brian Fassbender Are you still alive?
Nah
WE (my son David and I was driving back from Port of Chief Mountain dropped of the dinner of Tom at the border of Chief MT and Alberta) it was so dark coming from Canadian side and all of a sudden, these was in front of us... I was astounded and speechless I thought a UFO will land, LOL but it dawned on me and Davey said Ma, it's the Northern Light (Aurora Borealis) WhoaaaWWOOOWWWWW God's wonderful handiwork... he showed this to us to enjoy it all..Thank YOU LORD.
Last night, they were JUST like that right above my head, around 2am. I've never seen them so bright, because I live in the city and I've never seen them move like that either.
They were bright green, with tinges of purple and white... my brother and I were just in absolute awe. It was amazing, the Earth and nature are amazing.
I'm so glad I got to experience them.
Natures Screensaver right there.
I wonder what the thumbs down people were thinking. I think this is amazing!! If people would just stop, and take a time-out, to look up they would see the beauty of the world around them and all of the amazing wonders above. Thanks for sharing. :)
I have been fascinated by aurora borealis since I was a teenager...Now I am 50 plus...still fascinated by its awesome beauty. Thanks for this video. The soundtrack has a very good effect on me spiritually. I feel like i am more closer to our Creator ..
This is truly a dance of spirits.
I have seen some posts on the Aurora, but this is seriously the closest vid-capture that is true to what it really is. It changes quickly enough and its amazing to see. Thank you for posting this. :)
Absolutely magical! I never really had much interest in the Northern Lights until I saw this. Amazing!
Its really hard for me as an Indian to afford and view this but I think I just set my lifetime goal. I will watch Northern lights by any means, I love it. Thanks for the video.
This is another moment that won't die because it was shared , THANK YOU !!!
Terrifically beautiful aurora! Thank you for shooting and posting this sublime celestial vision captured on camera!

Truly amazing Alister. Well captured!
Thanks a lot for sharing such wonder ! Your video makes me feel really good.
So relaxing.
The music is Visions of Socrates by Martijn de Man.
The video was filmed at a place called Ravnastua in Finnmark, Norway. It take groups interested in photographing and timing the Aurora to this magical place every winter.
So breathtaking... I'm actually tearing up. It's as though the Lights are alive.....
I believe they are, I think it's a portal where souls are ascending
This is just so breathtaking and beautiful.

AWESOME!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
This video made me cry the whole time. The aurora nearly looks like what I saw two months ago in Finland. Unfortunately I do not have proper equipment to film it and my pictures became quite blurry because I had to open the shutter for eight seconds on my crappy camera with maximum of ISO 1600.
Thank you very much for this video! It's exactly what I was looking for!
thank you for showing this I've been wanting to see a real time video of them
this is one of the best real time footages ive seen!

That was amazing. We had Northern Lights last night here in Acton, Ontario. I wanted to view your incredible video to find out what was the best way to do this. I was not disappointed. Great job and your excitement in the video clearly showed how incredible this night was. Congratulations and well done.
Thank you for this. It's beautiful. I am looking forward to the higher-quality version. And the music is a good fit.

Believe it our not, when I was growing up in Glenrock, Wyo I got to see these lights. It's very rare and isn't even close to this in size and color but it does happen. I remember beautiful green wispy lights flittering across the night sky for about 4-6 minutes. God blessed us with the beauty He made in His world!!!
Great Job...spectacular Natural Event...
Fantastic!
This is amazing, I really want to go see them!
That was awesome!
It's so pretty I hope I get to see it someday

Yes, finally. A video that is NOT a time lapse! I will see the northern lights before I die.
There are few things as ethereally beautiful as the Northern Lights, and that deserves appreciation -- whether they were formed by God, the Universe, or something else.
I also love the music -- it really completes this video. Thank you, Mr. Chapman!
They look even more beautiful and fascinating in real time!

I remember that night, the lights were seen as far down as Minnesota. I watched them from the roof of my house.
A supernatural entity set everything in motion in the beginning
