lol. Always felt like pelican and similar overlanding products were extremely expensive for what you get. I rigged a divider for the bed of my Tacoma to mount (mounts in back, they mount vertically) a bunch of Ridgid boxes. I have kits dedicated for dirt bikes, off road, race karts and MTB. Problem is, if I want to put a bunch of stuff in the bed, I have to remove the large divider, which is a bit of a pain. I’ve always like the packout mounting in these cases. So I decided to mount 2 baseplates in the bed. And if I need more space, the boxes come out very easily and the mounts don’t take much space. I did buy 2 XL Milwaukee boxes to maximize what u can put there, BUT Since I am so invested in Ridgid and have spent a ton of time making specific tool kits for different disciplines (karts, MTB, dirt bikes) I bought a mounting plate that latches on to the ridgids and for the male side, that goes into the Milwaukee baseplate, I bought some kits off of Etsy to add to the aftermarket Ridgid baseplates (Ridgid doesn’t make such a thing). So now I can convert the Milwaukee baseplate to a Ridgid (aftermarket) baseplate and throw the Ridgid boxes on that, depending on what I am doing. Actually works surprisingly well. I’m just really surprised that Ridgid hasn’t come out with a factory baseplate for their boxes, as I think their boxes, in general, are the best for the money (I own Pelican, Milwaukee, DeWalt and Old Husky).

I just stumbled into buying the Milwaukee Pack-out for my Bronco. It is by far the best box system out there and you just proved it was economical storage solution! Thanks!

Just came across this video and I to am rocking Packout boxes for overlanding. Was searching for something to prevent theft and never even thought of the option you said to secure the Packout from theft. Thanks for the idea!

Great Idea buddy. I also use the Milwaukee packout system in the Back seat. I took out my back seats in my Tundra and installed a cooktop slide out that opens on the drivers side. I had just enough room to mount the Milwaukee base plate on the other side. so passenger rear door opens to the packout. I use the drawers, bins. organizer combo. works awesome! love your idea for outdoors tho,, see how the plastic holds up in the sun. not a knock at all.. just sayin

I really rarely like a video, but this is straight facts no sponsor or anything, the everyday man in the everyday world with the everyday costs approach like the rest of us would, not blowing 1200 on storage to match the rack and be pretty, actually useful information that makes common sense

Good looking and creative solution that comes in at a fraction of the cost of others on the market. Keep up the good work.

Nice solution. I found that a Roam 83L box with the sherpa mounts fits pretty well across the rack horizontally as well. I actually just got a couple of Packouts to install on my bedside Molle panels since Builtright just released their new Packout mount.

Great video!! Is a great idea, cost effective to I was thinking about doing the same since all my tools are milwaukee anyway and everything overlanding is getting out of hand these days.
I keep two of those on my vehicles for emergency supplies and now I know they work on the roof rack so thanks for the idea.
    Keep it up !!

I wouldn't call anything by Milwaukee a "best value". All their stuff is at the deep in of the price pool, but the quality come with it. I mounted that same plate on the interior wall of my camping trailer and use 2 of the small clear topped pack outs. One is a first aid kit, the other is batteries, fire starters, headlamps, all that frequently used camping gear that you need close at hand every trip. Packout a fantastic system.

So we'll said if it was an Overland product $$$ FLEX just dropped there full packout system couple weeks ago. Some nice twist to the norm.
As for $$$ we bought some Plano boxs with wheels and did the rubber strip seal trick. Just didn't make sense to buy some Zarges from my buddy who's a dealer. I'm sure they are well worth the price. But I can think of so many others things I'd rather buy for my Ranger Build.
Thanks for keeping it real and honest!

Looks like you moved the position of the Prinsu crossbar to match the width of the Packout hole pattern. I have the same rack for my Can Am and I’ve been trying to figure out how to make them fit the Packout base. I hadn’t thought of using the Prinsu slots to move the crossbar position. Thank you!

if MW made a case that was more sized like the ROAM cases or Pelicans, they could make some serious bank.

Great vid. I thought about these as well, but my concern was thief. Good point with locking it down to the rack itself. I ended up with Hart cases that I drilled into. @dispersedcamper
