Yes with some monsters that have horns/big fangs, for example Rajang, Diablos, Nergigante, regular and frostfang barioth. You need to break head twice in orden to increase chances of getting the materials related to such body part
No gear is overpowered. My friend had Fatalis gear and I had normal Velk when were doing Tempt F. rajang,he fainted twice with full HP (I didn't faint at all! Evade window 5 charm babyyyy)

I honestly forget now, I think that might just be FF Barioth? Just look out for both fangs being broken
