In this episode, Did You Know Gaming takes a look at some facts, secrets, Easter eggs and history of the Mario & Luigi RPG series. The Mario & Luigi sub-series currently contains six games: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, as well as the remake, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowsers Minions. The series has lived over several handheld systems, including the Game Boy Advance (GBA), the Nintendo DS, and the Nintendo 3DS. Superstar Saga also had dedicated GameCube (GCN) Game Boy Player support in the form of rumble and co-op play. Through our analysis of the series, its game's gameplay and their beta builds, we hope to show some of the more interesting facts from the making of the Mario & Luigi series and have its history explained.

The counterattack mechanic was in the series since Superstar Saga, a lot of bosses used it. Off the top of my head, Rookie does it when you attack Popple, the Piranha Plants in the Mom Piranha fight do it, Hermie III does it, and Cackletta's Soul does it.

6:58 yeah the Oho gear can be found in the game's file but you can get this item in the 3DS remastered version of superstar saga but the enemy that drops it is different since you get the Oho Jee gear from the oho NPC while the regular Oho gear is dropped by the beanbean kingdom's variant of the Boomerang bros

@@DarkFawful i would like for the mario and luigi series to get a new game and honestly just include other characters from the main series at this point.(theres the obvious wario and waluigi but i would love to see it go farther. it could add the warioware cast and captain syrup,maybe a few donkey kong characters or even rosalina, a playable peach,pauline or princess daisy as i did wish she was in dream team and the other year of luigi games/luigi's mansion 3 as i find it a very wasted opportunity that they havent extended their use of characters.:3)i would like it if they brought back that other nintendo characters appearing concept from superstar saga(really sucks e. gadd replaced them and it really couldve been fixed if they added that to the remake instead of bowsers minions which imo couldve just been cutscenes in the main game.)and maybe expand on it by having other nintendo characters appear in side quest like pit and palutena,marina and pearl/the squid sisters, captain falcon, the ice climbers,the arms characters,the fire emblem cast or kirby.

what you talking about. i loved this series it was basically what if the 3d games had more of a story and i love it for that since the 3d games really need to take notes from this(next level games aside.:3) it does suck that it may be the last well see of it since i feel the remake of superstar should've included the planned nintendo cameos instead of bowser's minions and instead of a bowser's inside story remake or paper jam they should've done a new one that had wario,waluigi,princess daisy(she really should have appeared in dream team and it feels weird she never appeared in the year of luigi, not even dr. luigi where she easily could've been a assistant or p2.) and rosalina as they would've been cool to see and alphadream could've had a field day with them considering they made the koopalings interesting.

This is my favorite game series of all-time, with Bowser's Inside Story being my favorite game! I love the Mario & Luigi Series so much!

7:22 that's the coolest fact. I'm learning japanese and having a character speak only in katakana is absolutely genius since it's not noticeable when only talking, so the characters act normal but there is something sinister going on. Very, very cool.

No, it got skipped. Superstar Saga got a remake as well as Bowser's Inside Story (though the BiS remake isn't out yet it was confirmed by Nintendo) but Partners in Time didn't get one; it was skipped.

Kind of ironic that this video denies that the series was influenced by Super Mario RPG, when AlphaDream was clearly picked _because_ of that influence on its other games-but all parties had to deny that influence on Mario & Luigi because of whatever Square-related reason they couldn't make a SMRPG sequel

The only reason Waluigi seems useless is because he hasn’t had a role in a main Mario game yet. However, with the inclusion of side characters in recent games (Daisy in Super Mario Run, Pauline in Super Mario Odyssey) I have a feeling that will change very soon.

Snacker6 Well, these are pretty common facts anyone could look up. Chugga wasn't the first one to document these, he does research like everyone else does to aid in his letsplays.
the partners in crime one was not common in the least, in fact through literal months chuggaa couldn't find any source on it and the picture used in this video was the same chuggaa got sent to him from a fan
people go to the same source and repeat the information there. Very few people do actual research. Chumpchonga or whoever did the same thing.
Or, just maybe, the sources are already lists in the description based on what was submitted to VGFacts.

I love the Mario & Luigi series. It's hands down my favorite Mario Spin-off series, with Superstar Saga being my favorite RPG of all time & Bowser's Inside Story being my second favorite.

The Hammer Bros are actually far from the only characters in the series that speak in katakana. Midbus speaks this way, which is also part of why he gets the "bad kung fu dub" schtick. Antasma speaks in katakana as well, which is where he gets his thick accent from. The swirling emotions in Dream's Deep are originally in katakana, with the notable exception of the kanji 兄, meaning "brother," which is really neat.

The reason the mind controlled Hammer Bros. speak in katakana in Japanese is most likely because that's how robotic speech is usually rendered in manga and video games, and definitely has nothing to do with implying they're speaking a foreign language. The robot connection is also probably why the localization team decided to go with leetspeak.

My favourite series of the whole Mario franchise. It captures the amazing team work and definition of the Mario Bros instead of the original platform in games of the same name, if you have two players. My favourite game of the series is Dream Team, so much character development with Luigi, he made Dream Team my favourite because of it people usually see him as the comic relief character, but as well he grows more confident. And the brotherly bond really shines here as well and I love it.

Wow I knew Alpha Dream was great but this video showed me how dedicated they are. Not to mention attention to detail! Also throwing consoles and controllers together like Macgyver show how passionate they really are.
Well if you want to develop things you kind of have to. Nintendo dominated the handheld market with the GBA being pretty much unchallenged during it's entire run. Improvised equipment like that was also made by Rare to use on Goldeneye 007 which actually used a Genesis controller.
This is why Mario and Luigi are the best brothers in the world.

It's 2019 at the moment we have 2 superstar sagas 1 for the gameboy and 1 for the 3ds, we have 2 bowsers inside story 1 for the ds and 1 for the 3ds, yet I think we need a new partners in time cause I wanna see new graphics, and another built in game just like the last two remakes I think the new remake (If we ever get one) should be called
Mario and Luigi: Partners in time + Toads Time trouble.
Basically in the toads time trouble you play as toad who has to help Egadd fix his inventions so he can see if the bros are okay in the past so you have to travel across the kingdom finding gadgets for Egadd but along the way you bump into the koopalings and shroob like creatures and you build up your team one by one to help Egadd so he can help the bros (also this may explain why bowser has the random shroobs locked up in his castle from bowser inside story).

Well in all fairness Geno is legally a Square Enix character, not a Nintendo one, so Alpha Dream probably couldn't re-secure the rights for his cameo this time around.

It's very likely that Alpha Dream did try to get Geno in, but Square Enix for some reason or another turned them down.
Didn't surprise me one bit. Character rights and legal stuff is hard, jumping through all those hoops wouldn't really be worth it for a 7-second cameo.
And now Alpha Dream is bankrupt. If this is the end, I'll miss this franchise.

Dream Team was awesome from what I remember as a kid. I personally find the dream worlds to be much better than Bowser's body (don't kill me). I may need to replay that again to give a proper judgment though.

In the remake they added a arrow to where you needed to go next which made the superstar saga (only M&L game which i never got to beat) so much easier for me to get into
play and finish the game superstar saga. It's a fantastic game!
