Question, I obtained 78 channels with a large antenna. I want to be able to record events over the antenna. What kind of dvr you recommend. Something that can record several our of shows or baseball games.
I have wanted to cut he cord for years. When I visit the AW site to see my reception possibilities. The site said I had NO possibility of reception in my area. So this delayed my decision to CTC until I watched this video. I purchased this antenna, found a reclaimed 30 ft steel tower and attached it with RG-11 cable, as my run would be 100 ft. I was shocked! We pointed it towards the towers (60 miles away)...86 channels! Yes, a bunch of duplicates, but now we have dependable 50 channels! Thank you Tyler! We also went with the Tablo Quad. I wish their technology was a bit better...but at least we are able to record ota shows. THANK YOU TYLER! I wouldn't have known any of this without your videos.
Very highly recommend Televes as a brand and the customized antenna recommendation! Money well spent…our antenna has been rock solid in our attic. Wind, rain, storms…we still get clear signal!
I cut the cord 3 years ago. Have an indoor antenna on all 3 the' s. Get 15 channels. Then added Roku for another 200 combined channels. Best move I ever made. I like your videos . Thanks for keeping us up to date.
I hooked up this antenna a couple of weeks ago and I'm getting most of my Charlotte locals even though I'm in a hilly area roughly 80 miles NW of Charlotte. Cancelled Dish Network after 20 years with them. Thanks Antenna Man for recommending a Televes.
I have the previous generation of this antenna. It has served me very, very well over the past three years. I receive 1 Kw UHF translators at 67 miles, UHF/VHF are great at 60 miles. I even get some Phoenix stations at nearly 90 miles, at times, overnight. You cannot beat this antenna if you want reliable, consistent reception. It is built to last as well.
@@TopFitnessStrategies The plastic portions as well as the electronics have been very durable, reliable well over three years. Usually all it takes is a year for the plastic to become brittle and break.
I bought this model after consulting with Tyler. Best antenna for my situation. I am in very mountainous country far from most of the major networks. Local folks told not to expect anything other than 4 channels, mostly sub channels. I get over 20 channels including all major networks and reception is excellent, even with trees and hills nearby. Thanks Tyler!
Bought this antenna based on your review. Works excellent. My old antenna maxed out at 54 channels. This picked up 67 in passive state. After connecting to power, the next scan added 21 more channels. Total channels received 88. I can’t wait to rescan when all the leaves are finished falling. Hands down best antenna I’ve ever owned. I’ve had 2 previous that both maxed at 54 with all the leaves gone.
I bought one of these (149884) to replace my channel master in my attic which was "omni-directional" I sold the c/m locally along with a c/m amp and c/m splitter for more than I paid for the televes, which does not need the amp or splitter because they are built in. I'm shooting 65 miles as the crow flies North at 337 degrees to Springfield Mo and it works great. It also receives the pbs stations to the South from the back end--all in the attic. Over 37 stations very clear( some are repetitive). Thank you Tyler--keep up the great info.
This one works like a dream for me. I'm about 40 miles from most of the broadcast stations, almost all of them UHF, but they're all within a few degrees directionally from my position. I don't know whether it's the design of the booms or the preamp, but this sucker gets me better, more consistent reception than my friends who are 30 miles closer to the city with their cheapie antennas.
Antenna Man, it would be so amazing if you made a page on your website with a chart of every antenna you've tested and their signal strengths on each channel
another excellent review. I really like Televes. I need to install an outdoor antenna at my mother's new house, and I think I'm going to go with one of these.
That is the antenna we purchased based on your antenna recommendations. Could not be happier with it. Picture quality is like HD. No signal loss during thunder storms or overcast, cloudy days. Thank you for recommending it. Great review and video. Keep up the good work.
I installed exactly this DatBoss LR Mix model a few months ago. Bought it to replace another Televes antenna the Ellipse Mix which I still am using mounted 10' lower on the same pole facing 150* in another direction feeding 2 other TV sets. The Ellipse is an excellent antenna limited to 60 miles but did pick up 1 Tower 78 miles away with a strong broadcast. However it picked up 2 other towers with less broadcast power erratically, meaning only at night. This DatBoss LR Mix replacing the Ellipse aimed at those 3 towers now picks them up perfectly plus a 4th tower 12 miles further which due to earth curvature on a 22' antenna pole should be virtually impossible but I do lose this particular tower sporadically. Best is all local towers within 40 miles from all directions are received & 3 towers in-line are never over-powered. Because this antenna only feeds my wife's bedroom TV which she plays maybe 8 hours per day & every night, I have spent major money purchasing other long range antenna, signal amps, pre-amps. Her reception is of paramount in importance & this is the best I have tried. What I like most is the build quality & balance. It does come disassembled & took me about an hour to put it together following both the directions & a UA-cam video. Be extra careful to have the antenna horizontally level. My location is central Louisiana flat land but I have trees partially blocking reception within 70". Because of HOA rules I am limited to 20' in height for an antenna. I also have a 3rd antenna installed which is a figure eight appearing plastic model from another manufacturer which is mounted 12' on a separate pole & is very good local only. It feeds a 75" TV in the ManCave. It's biggest problem is interference from passing auto's requiring me to rotate it in a non preferred direction. Both Televes antenna have no interference problems. From my personal experience, Televes is the best antenna's on the market & I have tried. I am a long time cord cutter refusing to pay $120 per month for cable in this market. I also stream using AT&T unlimited 1gig fiber.
Very happy with the Televes Eclipse I purchased about a year ago. I am only about 15 miles from towers just outside Ft Wayne, IN. Plenty of days of bad weather.. heavy snow, hard rain, decent amount of trees in my block. All that being said, I have not lost signal yet. I highly recommend these antennas.
@@TopFitnessStrategies Fine in the 2 winters I've had it. Freezing rain, excess snow no problem. When assembling the antenna (very easy) I got the impression of a well made product. Including the plastic housing.
I bought one and installed it the same day I received it. I receive 94 channels from 4 cities with strong signals 3 and 4 bars on each. I'm in upstate South Carolina within 70 miles of all television towers. It the best for it's size.
I just ordered one. And new solid Copper RG6 Coaxial cable. = I got the new Antenna, hooked it up and tuned it. It's better than any other Antenna I've ever had.
Thanks! I watched many of your videos and your content helped me from making the cheap ebay antenna mistake! I settled on the the antenna you reviewed here ( televes dat boss lr mix) very happy as I pull in NYC stations reliably even though I am about 70 miles out from tower ( strange because I live in Connecticut and have trouble with CT stations!). May get an atc 3.0 tuner to see what else I can pull in! Great videos and awesome content!- Chris
Hey Christopher, thanks for the contribution. If you can get some Hartford channels then an ATSC 3.0 tuner may help but right now NYC does not have ATSC 3.0.
After your review and a few others I purchased the Televes antenna. It replaced a medium to larger sized antenna. The old antenna would pull in 30 - 35 channels of which many weren’t viewable. Pointed it where RabbitEars said I would receive the most channels. Had the antenna pass through a Mediasonic tuner and the first scan found a whopping 83 channels! Everyone was watchable and not pixelated. Can’t say enough good things about this antenna. Was able to pick up a channel we almost never could off the side of the side of the Televes when the other one couldn’t bring it in when pointed straight at it.
I'm glad my videos helped you get better reception. Feel free to give a contribution at the link below as I spend A LOT of time making the videos and responding to these comments: antennamanpa.com/support.html
Purchased this from your link, (Televes DATBOSS LR Mix). Looking forward to receiving it. I bought the Datbossmix a while back, from your link, and am Very Happy with it.
Just put mine up and a 20 percent signal upgrade ...this antenna is better than my old one and a lot smaller takes a bit to assemble it but once you figure it it's a breeze.....now for longevity we will have to see but for now 5 stars
I actually got this to replace a rca yagi, and put it up about 35 feet but it really doesn’t do much better than the yagi for me but my closest transmitters are about 40 miles away
Very interesting . It seems like Televes is the one of the only companies trying to update their designs (antennas and amps) for the newer TV spectrum. I'm interested in how this antenna does in comparison to a long UHF yagi antenna like the Stellar Labs 30-2370. I have the best reception in my area with a large UHF yagi antenna. I'd have a hard time trying a new antenna. $180 is quite steep when it might not work better than my current set-up (Stellar Labs 30-2370 + Kitz KT200 Amp.
Apples and oranges, that antenna you list appears to be a clone of the Antennas Direct so I have no idea if it performs the same. I have one that the model you listed is a clone of hooked to an Avant X which brings the best out of it. The Televes is more compact and it does a very good job in UHF which is where most of the engineering is and it offers a reasonable VHF signal. The Stellar labs antennas that are designed to look similar to the Televes, avoid. I would not buy anything from Stellar Labs. Even my Antennas Direct original UHF Yagi is very fragile and can be bent up easily. The preamp you listed is far from ideal for two reasons, it can overdrive the signal with no AGC to prevent it, the other reason is that it has to be within reach of a wall outlet. It's better to use a model that requires a power injector so the preamp can be connected at the antenna end. On the TV end, you amplify noise and interference, on the antenna end you only amplify the antenna and by doing so, you raise the signal further from the noise floor rather than amplify it. If you ONLY need UHF and want to use that antenna, I would recommend that you use one of the newer Televes mast mounted preamps as those will guard against overdriving which is far common than one would think. The symptoms on the TV of an overdriven signal are the same as a weak signal, pixellation, blank picture etc. To me an expensive antenna is the commercial grade used by satellite and cable providers to grab local channels with an antenna farm and they are not available to the public readily. These start in the 400 dollar range and can be over a grand. They also usually only cover one band. Separate Low VHF (Band I) and High VHF (Band III) and separate UHF and can be had in Yagi or LPDA, the latter being larger but better side lobe rejection, swr and flat impedance over the passband with each element being a separate dipole with reversed polarity from adjacent dipoles. There are also single channel antennas. They also have optional brackets to arrange dual antennas in vertical or horizontal or quad antennas in a diamond pattern. The Televes with it's built in proper preamp at the dipole itself is actually a bargain compared to you will end up spending to get the Stellar Labs to work properly without overdriving and that's if it even has decent RF reception. The Televes are not overly large and unattractive to most I hope. Some people just hate antennas, I like them and they perk up my interest when I see one driving around, more points for a 30 foot tilting tower. If there are any single women out there who love antennas, hit me up, maybe we can design a boutique look on a powerful antenna. If apple can create something out polycarbonate that people treat as a fashion accessory as if it is a precious stone, nothing is impossible.
@@jbetnar I know. I guess I should of phrased it differently. Once you have a $200+ set-up it's hard to just "try" something else that cost $180 when you don't know if it will work any better than what you have. I need to know that an antenna will perform better than my current set-up before I spend another $200. You can't return a lot of antennas just because you don't like them or they don't work better for you. In a lot of Tyler's videos he doesn't compare the antennas to the "best" antenna (in that class) that he's tried before. I know that there are difference antennas for different jobs. In most videos he compares them to random antennas or previously reviewed antennas. You can't watch his videos and easy find which antenna has the strongest gain or best reception because he doesn't compare them to the best. For example in this video I would have liked the DATBOSS LR Mix to be compared to a large UHF yagi (HDB91X), a large Channel Master or a Denny's Double stack. The only method to truly compare antennas is to have them set up right beside each other with a selector switch and compare the readings for each channel. Find out which antenna has better reception. Record data. Replace weaker antenna with another and repeat until you have the best antenna. I remember seeing on an antenna forum where a guy did something like that with 20 antennas. He drove to an area 50 miles from a tower in a field. Brought 20 antennas with him and compared them all. At the end he could tell which was the best out of the antennas he brought.
Thank you for this info. It should be here friday. The preamp on the antenna is how all antennas should be. Keep up the good work sir. May God Bless you.
I bought this based solely on your experience. A King Jack came on my camper and it was weak but I was still impressed that it was pulling the channel I like best from a tower 70+ miles away. I've since built a carport canopy over the RV and lost that channel completely. I plan on mounting this on a mast above the canopy. It's arriving today, hope it works at least as good as the King Jack did. I also kinda hope the 12v power supply from the Jack antenna will work with this one since it's integrated in the camper. Not a big deal if it don't, it'll just be cleaner looking if it does.
No doubt this antenna will perform better than the King Jack antenna as long is you point it correctly towards the closest network affiliated TV stations.
@@AntennaMan You weren't joking. I'm not even using the amplifier and it receives better than ever. I may get one for my house too. I will add tho, as a throw the instructions aside and put it together guy, this is one I wouldn't. It's like building a model. You really need the instructions.
Do all of these Televes outdoor antennas require a power source/cable for these built in filters/preamps? I really like these Televes but don't want a power chord flowing through the attic. Also, can you hook two separate coax cables (one cable to one tv and another cable to another tv in a different part of the house without a spitter) to one Televes antenna? Thank you for any response.
I bought this antenna to be use for my RV travel trailer. I have the cheap factory omni antenna on the roof of my travel trailer and the lat place I camped I was only able to pick up 2 or 3 channels. I will be setting up this new Televes model 149884 in a couple weeks. I will do a scan on original factory antenna and then scan with the Televes antenna. I will report the test in a couple weeks.
DO NOT BUY this antenna from Interworld Highway LLC "Teuipment" if there's a problem and you need to return the antenna they can charge you 25% to 50% of the purchase price. Plus you have to place the box you received the antenna into another box and pay for shipping to return. You could already be paying 25% to 50% just to return the item and if they charge you 25% to $50% for any possible thing wrong with item or shipping you could be out of 100% cost of the antenna. This return is my worse nightmare of buy and selling on eBay and Amazon for over 20 years and try to return something. Their return policy is the worse. Purchase your antenna from somewhere else. I bought antenna via Amazon but the shipper is the one with strict shipping returns.
Only downside to this antenna is that it is very directive and as such, a lesser antenna which may pick up signals over a 45 degree arc may seem 'better' in some cases. But as stated, no antenna is one size fits all. My opinion (and I own an 883 and three 884's) is that there is no better UHF antenna made for pulling in a signal that you can aim at. And the construction quality is several levels over most anything else made. Wish they made a similar quality multi element 2-13 antenna.
Bob Hawkins. The best antenna is the one that works for you. You have to remember that part of Televes’ performance advantage is their unique built-in auto-gain preamplifier that not only compensates for distribution signal loss but also improves any antenna’s performance. The venerable Antennas Direct 91XG is unchanged and still selling well since the the late 1990s at the beginning of DTV before there were many stations that were transmitting on RF VHF. I have four of them. You still see many old antennas of that design in Europe and in the the U.S. in the 1970s Channel Master had three sizes of their “Super Diamond Quantum®️”, the 4247, 4248, and the 4257 that succeeded their giant parabolic models. I have two of the 4248s and for me it is about equal to the 91XG but some DXers say it was better than the 91XG. At my difficult reception (refraction) location I have to have separate antennas in different spots and heights and no Televes combination model works for me for both UHF and VHF.
@@bjs2022 Agree on all points. My solution involved an 883 (only because the 884 was not available then) with no preamp and a Stellar Labs VHF HI yagi. Those run into a Televes preamp near the antennas that has separate UHF and VHF Hi inputs. The performance on 7-36 exceeded my high expectations. Been using an MXV5100 applied to the low VHF input but I am less than thrilled with it's performance. It sits within 4' of my FM yagi and I fear that it and the FM antenna may both be compromised by that proximity. I think the MXV will be moving down to the chimney before the snow flies.
I live between two markets as this antenna can't even pick up the market 30 mi away behind it. Picks up just fine when aimed at a tower 80 miles away though.
I’ve had the Televes Mix antenna for a couple of years, but have decided to get this one, just because I love in a fringe area, and get tired of the changing signal quality. Don’t get me wrong, the Data Boss Mix has been an awesome antenna, and has served me well. I just want to see how much better this antenna will do. It’s not necessarily an upgrade, as it’s a sidegrade, LOL!!! I know it’ll preform as well, but should give me a little better reception, when the weather is goofy. I guess I’ll see, when I get it. I’ll update this comment, after I get it set up, and use it for a while.
Good they added a second preamp that has it's own AGC so we are up to separate AGCs for VHF and UHF. VHF needed it's own preamp with it's own AGC because the VHF on these antennas is nothing compared to the UHF. I'm not surprised to see the VHF improving by 3db which is significant. The UHF of the previous generation was pretty good to begin with but makes LTE rejection that much easier and of course designing for a narrower spectrum improves that range given correct math was used. I have dream, to have a dream, no seriously, with Cellular Data requiring more bandwidth as time goes by with the consumer expecting more, the sub 1ghz cellular bands cannot carry the bandwidth of the over 1ghz frequencies so my dream is to get the spectrum back. Future cellular could well be low earth orbit.
This is great I'm going to buy this new antenna for my home here in Miami and my old Televes antenna I'm going to take it overseas to my house in Central America. 👍👍👍👍
I love your videos! I am shopping for a new antenna and have watched your best outdoor antenna video a few times in the last month. I have the channel master in my amazon cart, but now am considering this one. Will be watching this video a few more times to help me decide. Thank you!
I previously had the Channel Master LR. It was good but no comparison to the DatBoss LR. In fact I gave the Channel Master to my Mother-in-law & set it up at her home. She lives more centrally located & it is excellent in her location. I required 70 mile reception thru trees & limited to a 20" pole. The DatBoss does the job.
I tested this antenna against the clearstream 4 max, and the 4max beat it hands down. Not only was the clearstream picking up more channels from all directions, but the channels had higher signals. The televes is 10 times the size of the 4 max, but could not match it. Used the included amp on the boss, and used a televes amplifier on the 4 max.
It would be nice if you could re-compare some of these new long range high tech antennas with some of the older style large "Radio Shack" style antennas like the Channel Master CM3020 you did three years ago. The readings in that review seem to be from completely different stations so I'm guessing they don't compare. I don't think I've seen any good side by side comparisons with those super large antennas next to the new compact designs from Televes and the like.
I actually no longer own the large CM3020. It's not worth repurchasing the antenna and spending hours remaking the video as it would mess up the current reach of the video and my channel. I can tell you the CM3020 does better on the VHF band (especially low VHF) than the Televes LR Mix while the Televes does better on the UHF band where most TV stations are on.
@@AntennaMan - I wasn't specifically talking about getting the CM3020 again, but Channel Master still makes those type of Antennas like the Advantage 60 or Advantage 100.
Excellent, especially stressing that the term “headroom”, how far above the threshold for DTV to get a solid picture with changing/variable reception is needed because of weather and the seasons.
What is the best long range uhf/vhf antenna that you would use. I am 70 miles from 7 broadcast areas. My antenna is 50 foot in the air with Amp and rotor. I do pretty good most times.
Great review. Where is the link for the low vhf version of this antenna? I am not rural but would like to capture as many low and high vhf channels as possible 😀
So the VHF element of this version is more than twice as good. I am now wondering maybe if you can somehow buy it as an aftermarket part, and install it in the older version of the LR Mix? Instead of re-purchasing the updated model?
Thanks Tyler! To your point about atmospherics. We both know they were pretty good when you reviewed the Ellipse and fairly degraded now so the Dat Boss LR won out on dealing with season variation probably. Glad you figured out the magic is in the preamp. I picked up one of these end of May after working with the Range Expert and not being able to bring in the 4K signals from Seattle reliably. Like I could via the older Dat Boss LR and the Stellar. I had been playing with height of the new Dat Boss LR and got all of the 4K channels for two nights [RF 24 has KOMO, KIRO, KUNS and 31 KING, KONG, KCPQ, KZJO] but King TV would not open. I am beginning to wonder if the adopters are using the same RF but on different towers or if the height of the transmitter on the tower differs for each broadcaster and may relate to signal strength? The weakest that would open was KZJO with Signal Quality at 42 and Strength in the high 70's. It played pretty well but not to a reliable record level. The new VHF elements even had me seeing RF 11 of the old standard during the evenings much like the Stellar but here the new preamp makes all the difference in my mind along with one fewer combiner. A friend of mine used the Range Experts UHF element and my Stellar to pull in +65 channels at his house. Even RF 9 [PBS] at night time which is more than 50 miles and very low power. He also has my old DB LR and Ellipse. It may be that the ellipse may have a slightly wider angle than the Dat Boss but definitely wider angle than the Range Expert. It looks like the Ellipse Mix will be the only upgraded version to survive that series. Do you know if they will make a Repack version of the Dat Boss Mix with lo VHF and new preamp? Do you think Televes would sell the new preamp to older Ellipse and Dat Boss owners or maybe make an upgrade package? Just got a post card they will be cutting the trees out of the power lines in my area in three weeks, about time since they are now above the top lines. Hoping that may open up a different placement for my antenna pole to test. Maybe like with solar installers we need a drone but with an RF scanner? I did take one up 65' with a cherry picker looking for a signal, once.
These antennas are installed in over 100 countries in all sorts of environments. From scorching hot in Africa to subzero in Scandinavia. The preamplifier is fully shielded and weather resistant.
I look forward to your review of the new Mix antenna with the lo-VHF. I got an older version that was somewhat worthless for lo-VHF. Other than the manager that was obnoxious when I had a short in my electrical cord and needed it replaced, I recommend this company’s products.
One great thing I learned from the Antennaman, is the LED light issue. Here if I have a certain LED light on, battery 12 V , I cannot get CH 19 which is a cw of Ch 2 KDKA
Would really like to see a review of the Sky Blue SB22. I live in an area with multiple Hi-VHF channels as well as UHF channels that are 40-60 miles away and am trying to decide between the Winegard 7694, Range Experts XPS-1500 and the SB22. Thanks for all you do. It has been very helpful. I have learned a lot so far.
Another good vid Antenna Man. Question. If i use rg6 cable, do i need a special connector to join two cables together and will connectors degrade my signal? Thanks.
I'd like to see how this antenna compares to the HD Stacker from Denny's. The Hi-VHF should be good on that antenna as well as the UHF. I've never seen this antenna tested.
Hey, Tyler! As always, thanks for your solid feedback on an antenna. I wonder though if I should upgrade from Televes model #148881? I bought it last time after you reviewed the product on youtube. So far no known issues with my current Televes antenna. Worth upgrading? Thanks again!
I have this antenna, but installed it upside down. It has great signals on all local channels. Is there any reason that I should take down my 30' pole and turn the antenna over?
I purchased a DATBOSS Model 149884 last year for my location in the Michigan City, IN area (near Chicago). While it has served me well, lately I have temporarily lost channel signals at times. I don't know if this is due to spring/summer and foliage on the oak trees, signals from the broadcast towers, needing to change my coax cable run after getting my roof re-shingled, or installing my antenna higher (about 25' above the ground...Or maybe I should upgrade? That would be a bit frustrating as I spent about $200 last year.
You should not need to upgrade your antenna. You already have one of the best models. What I would suggest is to check the power inserter to make sure the status light is still on. If it's not on you may need to replace the power inserter.
How does this compare with the Televes Elipses? With the Elipses, on breezy, cloudy days my picture breaks up sporadically. Four stations in one direction 18 miles from my house with one ridge in between (plus trees and other houses). I either need to raise it to above my roof or find a stronger antenna for in my attic. Thank you!
The DAT LR has substantial higher gain both in UHF and VHF High, but if you are in an attic your problems may very well be reflections. I'd recommend trying the Ellipse outside first.
I own both this DatBoss LR & an Ellipse. Your problem is location. At 18 miles, just place the Ellipse antenna on a 10 foot tall 1" diameter steel conduit pole & anchor the pole against against your house. At only 10' tall there is no need for guy wires or much additional support. Run only 6 cable & use the Televes pre-amp which was included with the Ellipse. I have exactly this on 1 of my antenna's clear reception to 60 miles on a strong broadcast signal, the others are within 40 miles & crystal clear. Now the antenna I use for the DatBoss LR is 22' tall & properly securred pulling stations at 70 miles.
Hey, Tyler 9 mi north of Baltimore here been to the Televes website and looking for the televes 148383 antenna Lo-hi vhf & uhf. Wanted to buy it from your Amazon store to help support your channel but can't find a link for it. Is there one?
How is the amp on this antenna powered? I have seen that it has a 3 foot power cable which is not anywhere sufficient to reach the height of my antenna. Are there other options?
i had a recommendation by "The Antenna Man" about a year ago and I purchases the old version of the DATBOSS LR Mix ( Model 149833 ) and it works great. I was wondering if there are new updated parts I could replace on my old model? Like the rear reflector or the pre-amp? If so, where can I purchase them, if there are interchangeable on the old model ( Model 149833 ). Any info would be appreciated.
Better for UHF but obviously a dedicated VHF antenna will work better for VHF. One like the Stellar Labs model probably is not necessary if you can pick up the VHF channels fine with the Televes LR.
@@AntennaMan I have the stellar lab antenna and the signal on my homerun varies from 50 to 90+. I was thinking the televes might be better for vhf. I have the televes preamp you recommended and the combiner. My antenna is in attic maybe moving outside might help with signal not dropping into the 50s
James, be patient. It's going to be a few weeks. It's not like the antenna review just comes out of nowhere in a matter of two hours. A ton of work goes into it. As it stands now, I have the antenna but am waiting for a cooler day to review it. I will not go on a black tar roof when it's 95 degrees outside. For what it's worth the Pro-Model is built very well but gain appears average comparable to other medium sized directional antennas. The main selling point is the made in USA build quality.
@@AntennaMan I just want to know if its performance is comparable with the CM-2018 as I'm looking for a medium size tough antenna in a market with nothing but UHF and high VHF.
@@jamesm568 I can't tell you yet as I haven't tested it out. It does appear smaller than the CM2018 which means it probably won't work as well unless you get the extension elements
@@AntennaMan Went ahead and purchased this antenna that was in the video and it works pretty good, but looking into if the high VHF elements from the Televes DATBOSS Mix LR UHF VHF Long Range Outdoor TV Antenna (149884) would also fit on this antenna in the video.
It should! In fact if you're only 15 miles away you probably don't need this large of an antenna. You can probably get away with one of the smaller Televes antennas linked below: www.amazon.com/shop/antennaman/list/2LH365VAPDKLC?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d

I even get some Phoenix stations
at nearly 90 miles, at times, overnight. You cannot beat this antenna if you want reliable, consistent reception.
It is built to last as well.
You're in the Phoenix area, eh? How does this antenna hold up to the heat?
@@TopFitnessStrategies The plastic portions as well as the electronics have been very durable,
reliable well over three years.
I think he reserves that for His paying customers. 🤑
another excellent review.
How does this antenna hold up in the winter? Does the plastic hold up to the Ft Wayne winters?
@@TopFitnessStrategies Fine in the 2 winters I've had it. Freezing rain, excess snow no problem. When assembling the antenna (very easy) I got the impression of a well made product. Including the plastic housing.
I bought one and installed it the same day I received it. I receive 94 channels from 4 cities with strong signals 3 and 4 bars on each. I'm in upstate South Carolina within 70 miles of all television towers. It the best for it's size.
I just ordered one. And new solid Copper RG6 Coaxial cable. =
I got the new Antenna, hooked it up and tuned it.
Antenna man your UA-cam videos are awesome my friend
Feel free to give a contribution at the link below as I spend A LOT of time making the videos and responding to these comments:

Purchased this from your link, (Televes DATBOSS LR Mix). Looking forward to receiving it. I bought the Datbossmix a while back, from your link, and am Very Happy with it.
Just put mine up and a 20 percent signal upgrade ...this antenna is better than my old one and a lot smaller takes a bit to assemble it but once you figure it it's a breeze.....now for longevity we will have to see but for now 5 stars
my Televes antenna gets 45 channels and was suspected to barely get a few even from Tyler. i feel so ahead in the game now thanks to Tyler
Sounds like a masterpiece of RF engineering! Thoughtfully designed in so many areas.
That antenna looks and looks like it is a high-end receiver that will do great for my area.
Hey Tyler thanks for restoring the outdoor antenna reviews cuz we all know that those indoor things aren't too hot
I actually got this to replace a rca yagi, and put it up about 35 feet but it really doesn’t do much better than the yagi for me but my closest transmitters are about 40 miles away
Which RF frequencies are you trying to reach?
@@jimross2101 I’ll have to look and see exactly
Sometimes your antenna can be too directional.
$180 is a bargain compared to Channel Master 😂
Awesome antenna for our cabin in Harrison Michigan where WJRT ABC 12 is very weak & the station is about 66 miles away from Flint Michigan
I replaced my old antenna with this Televes antenna today. Incredible!
Great antenna, installed one today, getting more channels than I did before.
Antenna man you are good at explaining what kind of Antenna to use on your tvs sets my friend
What happened to the delayed report?
@@BobOnTheJob1 I had a similar problem & discovered it required a 10' separation which I have now.
@@JFrenchRennier Between a 2-13 antenna and an FM yagi ? If so, what improvement did you get when you satisfied the 10' spacing need ?
I live between two markets as this antenna can't even pick up the market 30 mi away behind it. Picks up just fine when aimed at a tower 80 miles away though.
How does it compare to the Channel Master CM-4228HD?
Will this work installed in a attic space? We are not allowed out door attenia where we live. Thx for your time. Great video.
Yes, you can place any antenna in the attic. If you decide to order it use my affiliate link below. amzn.to/3OuzlHM
Thinking about the Televes 148383. Do you have a video telling the best grounding techniques?
Thanks!
I like the Televes 149884. You don't talk about the mounting system. Can you elaborate?
I got exactly like this one for our cabin in Harrison Michigan allowing me to pick up ABC 12 better
This might be because the ClearStream 4Max isn't as directional, meaning it might pick up more channels if your stations are spread out.
Can I use this in Europa for DVB-T - DVB-T2
I have the original DATBOSS LR Mix. Very, very happy with it. It works perfect for my use.
Is this antenna going on your recommended list over the older Televes antenna?
It's already on my list: www.amazon.com/shop/antennaman/list/2LH365VAPDKLC
Thanks!
Thanks Lee!
Thank You Antenna Man. A very good review. I'm checking on a Televes Antenna now.
How would this antenna rate against a Gray-Hoverman double bay unit Tylar ?? Thanks 😀😀😀😀
AKA fade margin.
If you had to pick 1 outdoor antenna which one would you pick ,& can you put link
What is the best long range uhf/vhf antenna that you would use. I am 70 miles from 7 broadcast areas. My antenna is 50 foot in the air with Amp and rotor. I do pretty good most times.
Just recently ordered this one, just have to figure out the mounting
See video below: ua-cam.com/video/pSKOVYFPGuo/v-deo.html
Great video!! I enjoy all your content!! So educational!
Looks like this might be the one to try if you don't have room for Winegard or Channel Masters biggest antennas.
I'd get the new model for the 5g filtering.
I would be worried about exposing the amplifier to direct and rain. I would make some kind of deflector to shade the amplifier.
Właśnie testuje Televesa dattboss LR , stara wersja nadajnik 100km. Pozdrawiam 👌💪🏻👍
Does it work well with ATSC 3.0? Stations in two different directions? thanks.
One great thing I learned from the Antennaman, is the LED light issue. Here if I have a certain LED light on, battery 12 V , I cannot get CH 19 which is a cw of Ch 2 KDKA
I switched to GE bulbs.
Feb 2024
are the long beams that stretch out adjustable like the smaller model
in your previous video
No, they are fixed, but you can adjust the tilt of the antenna.
thank you
Replaced my Dennys double stacker with this antenna, did not pick up more, the repack did too much damage.
I'm sorry to hear that. You're probably getting all of the channels you can. The FCC repack really messed things up.
Thanks.
Tyler,Thank You.
I'd like to see how this antenna compares to the HD Stacker from Denny's. The Hi-VHF should be good on that antenna as well as the UHF. I've never seen this antenna tested.
Unfortunately I have no plans to test out the HD stacker as it is no longer sold online outside of the local store
Those stackers are junk. Just a medium range combo antenna arranged to lessen the size (and gain).
I'm going to have to redesign my entire way of spending money after these energy bills hit me this winter
what is the width of the signal reception on this antenna?
Hey, Tyler! As always, thanks for your solid feedback on an antenna. I wonder though if I should upgrade from Televes model #148881? I bought it last time after you reviewed the product on youtube. So far no known issues with my current Televes antenna. Worth upgrading? Thanks again!
Looks amazing.
Is the amp replaceable if it fails?
Thanks Tyler. Stay cool buddy!
Best,
Joe
Hey can I attic install this model ? Thanks
Haha, that thumbnail is awesome 🤷♂📡😆
How does this compare with the Televes Elipses? With the Elipses, on breezy, cloudy days my picture breaks up sporadically. Four stations in one direction 18 miles from my house with one ridge in between (plus trees and other houses). I either need to raise it to above my roof or find a stronger antenna for in my attic. Thank you!
This antenna has more rain than the Televes Ellipse.
The DAT LR has substantial higher gain both in UHF and VHF High, but if you are in an attic your problems may very well be reflections. I'd recommend trying the Ellipse outside first.
Thank you both!!!
Is there one?
love to see an 2024 update rescan please
interested in buying
How is the amp on this antenna powered? I have seen that it has a 3 foot power cable which is not anywhere sufficient to reach the height of my antenna. Are there other options?
Have a great weekend. great content.
I need something which will go through a powered splitter and service 6 televisions. Will this do it?
Is this any better than the clear stream 4max I live with trees and a mountain range in the distance but still does pretty good.
Yes this is better.
I wish Tyler would keep his word he said over a year ago he would try out my antenna still waiting
i had a recommendation by "The Antenna Man" about a year ago and I purchases the old version of the DATBOSS LR Mix ( Model 149833 ) and it works great. I was wondering if there are new updated parts I could replace on my old model? Like the rear reflector or the pre-amp? If so, where can I purchase them, if there are interchangeable on the old model ( Model 149833 ). Any info would be appreciated.
Older models are not upgradeable to latest specs
How does this antenna compare to the Stellar Lab fringe VHF for VHF?
Better for UHF but obviously a dedicated VHF antenna will work better for VHF. One like the Stellar Labs model probably is not necessary if you can pick up the VHF channels fine with the Televes LR.
@@AntennaMan I have the stellar lab antenna and the signal on my homerun varies from 50 to 90+. I was thinking the televes might be better for vhf. I have the televes preamp you recommended and the combiner. My antenna is in attic maybe moving outside might help with signal not dropping into the 50s
I have a indoor antenna and it picks up all of the in like HD what would this thing do??🙂
The Channel Master Pro-Model antenna review?
@@AntennaMan Understand! I personally haven't found any bad reviews on it and so far no reviews on UA-cam.
Will this pick up channel 5 if station is 15 miles away? Thanks in advance
@@AntennaMan even in hilly terrain?
I have the 148383. How about doing a review of that one.
I'll be reviewing it sometime in the next month or two. I already tested it out but have other videos to work on right now.
