@@The_Other_Ghost You don’t have to hold to biblical fundamentalism or literalism in the text or scripture , these are extreme views.

They didn't have tape recorders back in those days. If you get a group of humans to write down the details of any event especially if it is the next day or even longer their accounts will differ. This fact gives more credence to the event.

For the bible tells me so!
Can you cite luke's source? We know luke wasn't there so this wasn't first hand account.
Could Matthew or even John have read Mark's story and wrote something based on it?

We as Christians are not completely reliant on Luke's account, nonetheless Luke used much of Mark's account which is based on the eye witness testimony of Peter.

It's important to realize that Luke was a disciple of Paul and very well could have been one of the 70 disciples appointed by Jesus. And we all know anyways besides that, that Paul was accepted by the original Apostles and therefore would have been taught the original gospel from the firsthand witnesses. They were all in the same circle. Luke was an Evangelist so he was well rounded with his knowledge and information, his Gospel goes into greater detail and depth than that of Mark the Evangelist, although both are still as credible as the other... Luke also wrote the book of Acts (Acts of the Apostles).. I think modern people don't give him enough credit honestly. Luke is just as credible because he clearly stems from the original source from the inner circle...
It's important also to remember that these first Christians networked with each other very closely and did not rely on alien sources, so Luke is not a stranger. They were quick to spot and contest the heresies of the day.
He was willing to give life and limb for his faith just like all the others. Hence the very reason why his books are in the bible in the first place. He was obviously a very respected source. I as a Christian see the significance of his work and evangelism and appreciate his works of faith

The true biggest is "God is love":
"Buy your slaves from the nations around you, you may keep them for life..." lev 25:44-46
"Kill the boys, the infants, sheep..." 1 samuel 15:3
"And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be asurely punished. 21 Notwithstanding, if he acontinue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money (property)." exodus 21:20-21
" “When you go out to war against your enemies, and the Lord your God gives them into your hand and you take them captive, 11 and you see among the captives a beautiful woman" dt 21:10-14 and basically Sura 4:24
The god of the bible isn't just or worthy of worship.

1/ Lev 25;44-46; refers to voluntary slavery due to economic reasons (no welfare state) or those condemned to slavery due to a crime committed (no prisons). The OT states that if someone forces another to slavery that person is to be put to death.
2/ 1 Sam 15;3; for context- God is the Cause of all existence and life, He is Lord of life and death. The tribe of Amalekites had tried to wipe out the Jews time and again, they refused all peace talks. For hundreds of years God was patient with them until he ordered this to prevent them exterminating Israel and committing yet more atrocities. Remember death is NOT the end of life it is the separation of the immortal soul from the mortal body until the Last Day
3/ Exodus 21;20-21; for the day this was extremely lenient. slavery existed (due to economic or penal reasons) due to man's fallen state.
4/ Dt 21;10-14; this states the woman CANNOT be sold and the Israeli man can MARRY her after which she is a free person to be treated with respect. Outside of the Mosaic Law in other nations she would have been treated like dirt.
      - REMEMBER; we are talking about thousands of years ago not 2023 in Toronto or Seattle. The Lord God of 'the Bible' as you call Him, is NOT some old sky god sitting on a cloud, not some slightly more powerful dude. He is Existence itself while at the same time He transcends existence. He is beyond Being and non-being. He created YOU out of nothing and preserves YOU in existence.

Exodus 21:20-21. Sounds just like Exodus 21:12 or Exodus 21:18... Oh wait, the servants or slaves were "property". Meanwhile, "attack" father/ mother or cursing, put to death ("property").

Ignoring that you probably killed people she knew (war)... she couldn't be sold and had to be treated with "respect" (women weren't equals in the bible)!
Could an all powerful/ knowing god have help set up help to transition prisoners into post war society?
