Good to know bc I just got a new tat yesterday and I’m doing bandage healing but am almost to the 24 hour mark and I was wondering about aquaphor when cleaning before applying second tegaderm bandage. But I use the old school almost vaseline like aquaphor
I'm pretty heavily tattooed, but a few months ago I had my second session on my sleeve with a VERY renowned and expensive artist. The first session was outlines so she put saniderm on it, but for the second it was colour so she gave me different instructions. She told me to keep it wrapped with kitchen towel and taped up CONSTANTLY, with a break every few hours to moisturize and change the wrappings. Obviously that sounded very wrong to me, but she insisted that it helps to soak things up and prevent scabbing so I reluctantly listened to her. Well, what do you know, a few days in and I had scabs and multiple instances of bleeding where my tattoo had stuck to the tissue at night and gotten ripped. I was left with patches of missing colour and scarring because of this, and now she keeps avoiding my appointment requests to finish my sleeve. Needless to say, sometimes your artist is wrong and you should listen to your gut because then you won't end up like me with a messed up half finished £1500+ tattoo.
Just got 7 tattoos 3 weeks ago and the worst part was the healing, I was very itchy and sensitive because my skin is difficult but traditional treatment worked fine. 🍑
My tattoo artist told me to use the Dial Antibacterial orange soap and when I first cleaned it, I used bactine spray. I also used some Aveeno or anything fragrance free was the way to go. It healed so much better with the saniderm. Actually getting tattoo #4 today! 🙌🏻🎉
My artist put saniderm on my tattoo, I left it on for 5 days before it peeled off in the shower. It was really nice to have the saniderm because it got past the “open wound” phase. The itchiness after the saniderm came off was the most difficult part😂
people warned me about ink sacks but I hadn’t actually seen what it looked like until this video 😮 I’m in day two of healing with 1st tattoo and it’s going well so far! Thanks for the tips! 🍑
For arm tattoos, while going to bed, I use a silky shirt that isnt fuzzy at all, to drape over it, helps remind me that there's a tattoo there and for the first night it keeps it from sticking or getting on other stuff.
I just got my first tattoo less than a week ago and I pulled the Saniderm after day 4. I actually had no clue that it’s possible to overdo the moisturizer (I’m using Aquaphor) so thank you for the information! Plan is to use a little less aquaphor every time I moisturize it!
With one of my early tattoos, I noticed that a couple days AFTER removing the sanidrem, my tattoo had a raised, puffy look instead of being dried out or flaky as my others had at that stage. Read some and realized that I was way over- moisturizing it. Did nothing but wash it for about 2-3 days and that evened it right out. Never got any strange bumps or redness but my god i was scared for awhile there !
My artist told me to take of the second skin on day 4. I had no problems. I wash twice a day and moisturize. Nice and simple. I just passed the 5 week mark and it looks really good.
🍑 Personally I'm a fan of dry healing my tattoos. My artist said to keep them covered the 1st 12 hours then just let it dry heal and expose to air. I'm one of those people that never felt the need to itch or scratch the tattoo at all. And in regards to the final appearance once healed, they come out perfectly fine. Yeah it may be consider lazy but for me it works great.
Big thanks for mentioning allegic reactions to Saniderm. I have an alleric reaction to some plaster adhesives but I didn't make the connection that the same could happen with Saniderm. Will definitely test it first now before putting it on my tattoo 🍑
I have reactions to bandages, but was able to use Saniderm for the first couple days to at least get past the weeping phase. So it’s not completely off the table. Depends on the level of your reactivity. If it takes several days to breakout, you’ll probably be ok to use for the first phase so you can sleep easier etc
I have an allergy to latex and most adhesives and I learned that the hard way. My skin will boil up. Thank god I didn’t use the bandage after being told to by friends for my first huge tattoo.
Thank you for the clear and informative video celle! Reminds me of a time a 'tiktok artist' told her followers to use dawn dish soap for her tattoos 😦 personally love traditional healing, always have had a good experience! Can't say the same with saniderm! Everyone is different tho 🍑🍑🍑🍑
I wondered why my artist told me to go straight to moisturizer and not do any aquaphor for my most recent tattoo. I usually wear second skin for 5 days so I usually skip the aquaphor stage, but we did a black out yesterday so that's a bit much to wrap. Had no idea aquaphor changed their formula!
Every tattoo I've had, I take the bandage off when I get home from the tattooist (about an hour), wash the tattoo with Dial anti-bacterial soap then apply a thin coat of Curel "healing" lotion and let the tattoo start healing. Never had any issues.
Just got my first tattoo. 5 hour inner forearm. The process was uncomfortable and occasionally like 5/10 painful, the saniderm kinda made aftercare like, nothing barely any swelling, redness, no plasma or anything after I took it off. Just some ink. Very mild, occasional itchiness. Some slight burning sensations that subsided quickly, but sparked up occasionally. Much easier process than I thought it would be. Hopefully this means I heal quickly. So super stoked to finish up a full sleeve!
I have only done Second Skin once for a huge piece (my largest one - 10 inches) but the other 5 were the traditional way. I just got a tattoo ( 2 inches; one on the inside of each of my ankles). I am on day 2 and what I think helps most is dotting the ointment in 6 spots instead of smearing it from left to right where most of it gets used up too early. It will be evenly distributed and a thin layer. Also use paper towels instead of a cloth towel, it's more sanitary! 🍑
Just got my tattoo done, and I’ve gotten tattoos before and this artist was the first artist that told me not to put anything on it until 5 days and let it dry heal. I’m on day 4 and this has been the most painful recovery process 😭
One funny thing I found with bandage healing is that it is COLD! My first saniderm experience was on a big ole rib tattoo, and having a large swatch of wet-but-breathable material right on the side of my core in early March made me so freezing cold I had to give up early, take the bandage off, and do it the old-fashioned way. So I guess my advice there is, if you are a weenie like me and using saniderm on your tummy, be prepared to bundle up! Also, I would make sure that you have the entire area that the bandage is applied to fully shaved. My artist very respectfully did not shave all they way up to my, uh, underboob zone, and peeling the bandage off hurt worse than the actual tattoo. For the second session I asked if I could take a moment to shave that area where he wasn't tattooing but the bandage would be applied before we got started, problem solved.
When can you start applying SPF? Other than clothing is there another way to cover the tattoo after the saniderm? I’m going on holiday soon after my tattoo so ideally would like to just be able to put a bandage over my tattoo instead of wearing long sleeve the whole time
Wish I saw this before I got my white ink tattoo. I did the bandage healing on an all white piece. Ended up being allergic to the white ink but didnt know the signs 😭 My advice through my experience is if you’ve use the wrap before and never had issues but for some reason it’s getting itchy before the allotted time to remove it is up. Just take it off immediately and take a Benadryl. I was insanely uncomfortable for 2 weeks on antibiotics thinking I had an infection till I tried Benadryl and it all went away. Had to take it for awhile after till I could use the Benadryl cream every other day to now where I don’t have to use it. 🍑
🍑 Just got my first tattoo 3 days ago. Artist said to take off the second skin after four days, so I'm gonna take it off tomorrow. I wonder if they tell new people the simplified method because the artist doesn't trust them to change the dressing properly.
I just did a stick and poke... It's a ☮️ on my ankle. So what i did is I put saran wrap on my table, and put a paper towel over it. I had a little ink pot and a tattoo needle. Cleaned my hands, put on gloves, cleaned my ankle and used some neosporn cream pain relief ointment as lubricant (not for the pain relief property, its just what i had) and went at it. I'm now watching this video for aftercare tips. So far, before watching this video I think im going to wash once a day with anti bacterial soap. After the wash i will put neosporn back on and but a bandaid over it which is whag ive done just now right after the tattooing process
Not sure if this is available outside the EU, I am from Spain and the best result here has been with Bepanthol, there is even a "Bepanthol tattoo", it has both antibacteria and antifungic properties and it helps with the healing and cicatrisation process.
Hi celle. I recently got 2 tattoos a snake on my arm and a music note on my neck and the saniderm on my neck was starting to make my neck mad itchy and irritated after like 3 days so I took em off everything started to heal now it been 8 days just been using tattoo cleaner and cera v cream. I think I should be straight but great vid celle thank you
🍑 I have found the washing and moisturizing to be effective in both my sleeves. Letting it breathe and slowly heal and they have both come out nicely with rich colours and shading. Also never heard BDSM referred to as arts and crafts 🤣
Of course bandage suppliers would recommend using twice as many. It's like putting the word repeat on shampoo bottle directions. I'll stick to what my artist says, thanks!
Y’all’s tattoos leak so much! My first did leak a little bit, but both of my most recent ones didn’t leak at all (done by another artist)… not even a little bit. I heal my tattoos with Cicaplast Baume B5 and it works wonderfully! I’ve never tried Aquaphor because I can’t find it where I live… Never tried bandage healing and when I asked about it to the guy I go to, he said he didn’t like the results.
I do the traditionnal wet healing. Twice cleaning and re-wrapping a day. Wrap for 2 weeks. Third week only moisterized. Advices from my tattoo artist here in France. Saniderm seems interesting but I don't know if it is easily purchasable here. But I fear my reaction to it's adhesive.
I just got my chest done and it was pretty terrible. My four hour car ride home was awful. Headache and just felt blah, some shivers. But went away that night. Pretty sure my body was in shock 😅
Recentyl had my first tattoo. Seems like I'm sensitive to aquaphor. I observed redness on the edges of my tattoo whenever I use it. On day 4 I transitioned to aveeno moisturize, red disappeared almost instantly.
My tattoo artist doesn't give aftercare instructions anymore since I've had a few 😂 it's been just over 2 weeks since the first session on my thigh piece and my skin had some sort of reaction to the usual topicals I had used before - the orange dial soap and hustle butter. She thinks it was probably from my laundry detergent, altho it always flares up after I wash it. Almost looks like red spider veins, but it dissappears at times and I don't have spider veins there. Gets slightly itchy, too. Anyone else have this happen to them??
I had a head tattoo done last Thursday I was wondering when is it safe to stop wrapping my head tattoo at night before sleep. Second when is it to use head shavers that are put to grade one so not fully down so to keep my hair short while tattoo is healing thank for your time.
Commenting before I watch this fully to say how I heal my tattoos lol, I always use a tattoo bandage of some kind that I usually replace after the first 24 hours (but if my tattoo barely leaks I’ll end up leaving it on for around 4 days) and then I’ll clean it with Dr. Bronzer’s baby soap before putting on a second bandage that I’ll leave on for up to a week but it never really lasts that long because it gets too itchy. Once I take off the second bandage (in the shower by the way) I’ll wash it again with the Dr. Bronzer’s baby soap and I apply a tiny bit of non scented lotion to it and then just forget about it. I only put on more lotion sporadically if it feels super itchy.
I'm confused as to which tattoo bandage is actually water proof. I've used 2 different kinds now and they pretty much fall off as soon as the smallest amount of water touches them.
i didn't use aquifer ointment. i was reading online that it can fade it. so - i only used moisturizer. i'm doing the soap and lotion 2 times a day. it's been a week... and super flaky. i hope it's ok!
I usually leave mine covered for 4days then wash n put ointment for a week n then just wash when it scabs but ion scrub hard or anything just give it Lil pats then I’ll just leave it alone n let it heal on it’s own
what if in the process of healing pigmented flakes fell off, and now the lines don't look even anymore - is it me treating it badly or tattoo artist failed?
i just got a dragon with the head starting on the top of my hand and it’s body going up my arm. we only did the outlines and i’m 8 days into healing. a lot of lines mainly the smaller ones look like they’ve fallen off. they look very faded and grey. i’m so stressed out and i don’t know if my healing has been ruined or not. i go back in for a second session to do the shading in about 2-3 weeks. but i’m so upset and stressed out because i don’t know if the outlines are ruined and if it’s doing to need to be redone in abunch of spots. idk if i need to not apply moisturiser or if i need to apply some. i’m definitely going to speak to my artist about using second skin for the next session. but i’m truely shattered right now about this healing and alittle lost for what to do about it..
anyone adivise using sandiderm just at night on day 4 or 5? Just got my tattoo on 4 days ago, had the original sandiderm my artist put on until last night, washed it and put a thin layer of aquaphor. Washed and aquaphored it again this morning but I’m wondering if I should continue to to cover it, especially at night as it rubs against my sheets and my cat likes to sleep in my bed?
I wish I could try bandage healing but I’m very allergic to adhesive to the point that my artist has to be very careful with attaching a dressing to my fresh tattoos so as to not have anything touch my skin. I learned about my allergy the hard way when doctors made a support for my shoulder with adhesive to prevent dislocation following a brain injury. The reaction was rapid and dramatic.
Those adhesives like saniderm gave me such bad reactions I almost scarred/and blistered. Thankfully this wasn’t during healing a tattoo, but now I know not to use it.
People don't want to believe how easy it is to heal a tattoo, they want to buy some silly product instead of doing it properly. LEAVE IT ALONE, tattooers dry heal because they know the most about tattoos and have hundreds of tattoos. Just wash it twice a day with dial, air dry, keep it clean and don't touch it. If you really cant take the itch when it starts scabbing apply the smallest amount of lubriderm. Don't let it in the sun for 4 weeks and don't submerge it. That's it!
redness and itching around the perimeter of your bandage is more likely to be localized infection from bacteria getting trapped around the edges. I'm allergic to a lot of adhesives but tattoo bandages never give me problems
**Aquaphor has released a new formula that some tattoo artist actually don't recommend healing with anymore**
so tell people what it is?
Good to know bc I just got a new tat yesterday and I’m doing bandage healing but am almost to the 24 hour mark and I was wondering about aquaphor when cleaning before applying second tegaderm bandage. But I use the old school almost vaseline like aquaphor
Aquaphor burns for me. 😢

YES! Agreed on all counts, especially with them turning out great in the end. 🙌🙌🙌
Lucky! I did that with my first tattoo and it healed much more quickly than my other tattoos but was very faded.
That’s basically what my artist said, and i still havent felt any need to itch or anything
Getting my first tattoo in the next month so I'm excited!

currently getting my first tattoo and this pops up. soooo helpful
The timing of this video is perfect!!! Getting my half sleeve done in 2 days, thank you for the advice! 🍑
There’s something about your voice and vibe that is so calming. Is this love? Lol
Dang, Professor Celle is giving. Great guide for tattoo healing, traditional has always been my go to 🍑
I’m getting my first tattoo tomorrow and this is so helpful!!
Celle with an oversized ruler is absolutely something I’d get tattooed on me any day 😍😍
just got my knee tatted and it's been an adventure healing. lots of rest and relaxation always helps me heal faster too
Just got a new tatt and it’s been over 20 years since my last. Thanks for putting this out mad helpful!! 🍑

Just Got my first Tattoo yesterday... Awesome video and content!
🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑
Very good content. Thank you very much!
Id just add the enphasis in drying the tattoo after washing it using estrictly towel paper !
Bless
My artist told me to go roll it in dirt and mammoth poop had trouble finding the 2nd one.

When can you start applying SPF? Other than clothing is there another way to cover the tattoo after the saniderm? I’m going on holiday soon after my tattoo so ideally would like to just be able to put a bandage over my tattoo instead of wearing long sleeve the whole time
I highly recommend using cerave after your tattoo is done peeling the moisturizing cream is amazing for repairing skin not a tattoo artist btw
Wish I saw this before I got my white ink tattoo. I did the bandage healing on an all white piece. Ended up being allergic to the white ink but didnt know the signs 😭
My advice through my experience is if you’ve use the wrap before and never had issues but for some reason it’s getting itchy before the allotted time to remove it is up. Just take it off immediately and take a Benadryl.

dry healer, for the win 🙌. not a tattoo artist. and yes, I'm lazy, lol 🙌🙌🙌❤️
thanks so much for the tips! just starting out with getting tattoos and appreciate the share knowledge!
🍑 Just got my first tattoo 3 days ago. Artist said to take off the second skin after four days, so I'm gonna take it off tomorrow.
I wonder if they tell new people the simplified method because the artist doesn't trust them to change the dressing properly.
❤️ Definitely helped out. I appreciate you.
New subscriber and I'm obsessed with your vids now 🤩
I just did a stick and poke...
After the wash i will put neosporn back on and but a bandaid over it which is whag ive done just now right after the tattooing process
Would love to see a review of stories and ink care stuff, I really want to know if it’s worth the hype!
Much easier and information, thank you
🍑 tysm for all this helpful information!!! 💖💖💖
Not sure if this is available outside the EU, I am from Spain and the best result here has been with Bepanthol, there is even a "Bepanthol tattoo", it has both antibacteria and antifungic properties and it helps with the healing and cicatrisation process.

I don’t know if it’s because I always get line work but I never had the sac of plasma😂 always kept the sandiderm for 5 days
4/5 of my tattoos are black and gray with shading, palm- sized or a little bigger. I've never had an obvious plasma/ ink sac. Wonder why 🤷🏽♀️

Can you use aloe vera for fresh tattoo?
This was very helpful ! Just got tatted again since 2019 so I was like, how do I take care of my tattoo again? 😅🍑

I had no idea this was a thing and definitely had a mild case of this after the first session on my thigh piece!
I just got my chest done and it was pretty terrible. My four hour car ride home was awful. Headache and just felt blah, some shivers. But went away that night. Pretty sure my body was in shock 😅
@@Bthast62 hopefully you didn't have to drive yourself, that sounds like a rough ride home :(
@@independantegirl haha unfortunately so. McDonald's was the cure I think though. It fixes hangovers, cravings, and tattoo flu? 🤷 😅

Thank you very much for that video,it was very helpful and insightful. Plus i think you are very very pretty🐑🐑🐑

Still a pleasure to watch your videos, greetings from Belgium.
Are most good artists open to a test dot? I have so many allergies testing the specific ink may be best for me, but I'm afraid to ask.

I used irish spring on my tattoo 😂
is it okay to apply something like bepathen to a peeling/ scabbing tattoo? or is it just removing scabs/ peeling prematurely?
🍑 Thanks for sharing.
ive heard that aquafor is relly bad for burns so how is it okay for tattoos?
Thankuuu!

i didn't use aquifer ointment. i was reading online that it can fade it. so - i only used moisturizer. i'm doing the soap and lotion 2 times a day. it's been a week... and super flaky. i hope it's ok!
Hi,i gotta new tattoo today and my wasn't covered at all.even through it was a name tattoo.
I usually leave mine covered for 4days then wash n put ointment for a week n then just wash when it scabs but ion scrub hard or anything just give it Lil pats then I’ll just leave it alone n let it heal on it’s own
I got my tattoos today 2 of them and I waited 5 hours until I took off the wrap or bandage although my tattoo artist said 3 days to take it off.
what if in the process of healing pigmented flakes fell off, and now the lines don't look even anymore - is it me treating it badly or tattoo artist failed?
I'm struggling with bandage healing, they really don't stay on properly and I ended up with a little infection.. not fun
Dial unscented anti bacterial a good soap to use?
Yes
🍑 so keep the second skin on for the first 4 days?
My tattoo artist dint wrap it with anything is that super bad? It’s my first tattoo I am super worried
i just got a dragon with the head starting on the top of my hand and it’s body going up my arm. we only did the outlines and i’m 8 days into healing. a lot of lines mainly the smaller ones look like they’ve fallen off. they look very faded and grey. i’m so stressed out and i don’t know if my healing has been ruined or not. i go back in for a second session to do the shading in about 2-3 weeks. but i’m so upset and stressed out because i don’t know if the outlines are ruined and if it’s doing to need to be redone in abunch of spots. idk if i need to not apply moisturiser or if i need to apply some. i’m definitely going to speak to my artist about using second skin for the next session. but i’m truely shattered right now about this healing and alittle lost for what to do about it..
Hey, I hope your tattoo turned out how you wanted it to. What were the final results after the healing process?
anyone adivise using sandiderm just at night on day 4 or 5? Just got my tattoo on 4 days ago, had the original sandiderm my artist put on until last night, washed it and put a thin layer of aquaphor. Washed and aquaphored it again this morning but I’m wondering if I should continue to to cover it, especially at night as it rubs against my sheets and my cat likes to sleep in my bed?
Hanging out with your sack out 😂😂😂
I totally got tattooed flu and ended up throwing up and getting bad headaches
Tnx !! 🍑🍑🍑
👍
I'm 8 days in. Still flaky. Is that okay?
Great Vid 🍑
I wish I could try bandage healing but I’m very allergic to adhesive to the point that my artist has to be very careful with attaching a dressing to my fresh tattoos so as to not have anything touch my skin. I learned about my allergy the hard way when doctors made a support for my shoulder with adhesive to prevent dislocation following a brain injury. The reaction was rapid and dramatic.
After the first day I do dry healing
🍑 Just commenting for the algorithm
Vaseline too 🍑
I was told to just put fragrance free lotion on it daily 😭
Omggg this makes me so scared
