    Having seen your previous video about installing the support brace and concrete block set in the ground, I wondered if you have considered welding on a bracket with a small wheel on the underside of the gate at the latch end, to give it support and stop it sagging in the future?

    Speaking of solar, it is possible to direct charge an electric chair from a solar panel. Mine is a 24 volt system (2 @ 12 volt AGM batteries), so I use a medium-sized 24 volt panel on my roof, a tiny charge controller and the correct cable to go from charge controller to the chair's charging port (in my case, its a male XLR plug). So when the power goes out, I drop the chair out of gear, scoot it to the office, and plug it in to the controller. My next challenge is gonna be the bed and, more importantly, the CPAP machine. That gate opener/closer is sweet!

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  9 років тому

      AnnBearForFreedom I still say its good that I dont live near you. I would have highway pegs and ape hangers on your chair,,,,maybe even some twenties on some sharp rims.

    • @AnnBearForFreedom
      @AnnBearForFreedom 9 років тому

      BCtruck, rebuild, repair,repurpose Wouldn't mind that at all, my friend. Its a new chair, so we're still getting to know each other. So far, I hate it. Its wider and longer, so I don't fit through anywhere any more! But the chair is also 40 pounds lighter and I'm 203 pounds lighter (!), so the bus lift is happy about that. I believe the drive tires are more like tens not twenties, but yeah, some sharper rims would be cool. Halfway is...what, Phoenix, maybe Albequerque? I could do that in about 8 months, are you game?

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  9 років тому

      @AnnBearForFreedom 9 років тому

      BCtruck, rebuild, repair,repurpose Well, true. Strapping down a dozen cat carriers would get a bit clunky and cumbersome after the first couple hundred miles anyway. So no visit this year, but once I lose that other 200 pounds....heck, anything will be possible!

  • @mycats7321
    @mycats7321 3 роки тому

    It may not take a weirdo to dislike you, but it would take a weirdo to call you and harass you. LOL.
    I like how you have the angled posts to support your main gate post. I have to put new gate posts (mine got taken out by a hurricane) and I'm thinking of doing a keyway support but an external brace might help too.
    Love the setup you had for your chickens. I miss having chickens but I'm not in good enough shape to take care of them anymore.
    Thanks for showing how to do this. I have a similar one to install (the 360 version) but my gate is in permanent shade so my solar panel will have to be farther away.
    Did the connection for the battery come with the kit? I wish I'd seen how the battery was connected inside the box, but I'm sure there are instructions for that.

    • @camelid
      @camelid 5 років тому

      We use Superlube synthetic (silicone I think) grease and it stays fairly non-viscous down to our normal low temps in the -15C range. I also try to spray the slide arm with silicone lube at the beginning of the cold weather season, to help with ice not sticking to the arm (which I think is coated with teflon or something already non-stick.) These two lubrication schedules really help with their lifespan, we had one last several years before needing a replacement, and it gets quite dusty here in summer.

      He commented no it's piece of crap and they have terrible support. When it comes to get operators. You have to go with a quality brand, it can't be the cheap stuff because it's not cheap to make a good operator.

    So you can add solar and electricity in at this motor? I read that you weren't supposed to. Any advice?

    Have you thought about putting an electronic latch on the gate to prevent it banging in the wind. There should be provision on the circuit board to connect an electric latch system,

    Trying to figure out how you wired the gate. I have a solar panel that is currently connected to a battery and then the wire runs from the battery to the control board. Should I do the same here? I see on the control board it has a solar input area. If I go straight from the solar panel to that input then how do I connect the battery and how does the abttery charge?

    Which battery? Marine battery or car battery?

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  Рік тому +1

      Marine battery. A car battery would work but it wouldn’t take the charge /discharge cycles for very long.

      Wouldn’t work in this case. Cause the gate opens inward and it’s uphill.

    Adjust your opening and closing position and speed and it will have a soft opening in the fully opened and a soft closing when fully closed

      jeff johnson We have one at the Barn, Telephone repair workers were pushing on it to walk in and out while we were in the field. It now stays about a foot open. We have horses that are in that area twice a day to eat. How can we set it to close flush please?

    Is there a way to test If the gate opener works before installing to the fence? Does it have to be grounded?

    • @bctruck

      Yes and no. It doesn’t need to be grounded and yes you can test it before mounting it.

    How did you program close limit and open limit

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  4 роки тому

      On the black box there is a switch. Turn it off. Then turn it on and wait for a beep. When it beeps, hold the button down on the remote until the gate is at the position you want it to stop, when it reaches the position you want it to stop, release the button. Then , press and hold the button again and release it when reaches the position you want to stop on opening.

    I'm curious, how well has it held up? I've got the same sort of gate opener. I also bought it because it is cheap. I hope it lasts.

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  7 років тому +1

      Richard it was a piece of crap! It lasted a few months, then started closing and backing off a foot or two. I adjusted it and it worked right for a few days and started doing it again. The MFGr wasn't any help at all. I shipped it to them,payed dearly to have it fixed and it did the exact same thing right out of the box. Genuine piece of crap with lousy customer service.

    • @movaughn20

      You would need a 12v inverter, battery's from Home depot are only $20, you could really use a cheap trickle float charger to keep it charged without solar panel.
