Those grown women being "cute" trained nonstop since they were 12 until their adult years therefore they didn't get a possibility of having a normal childhood. I guarantee you most of them aren't acting childish and cute, most of them are childish and cute.
And if you actually know mamamoo you would know they are also incorporated in your opinion of "grown women acting cute" especially hwasa and solar wich in my opinion isn't something wrong and totally makes sense considering most korean idol backgrounds.

The best comment in a long, long time, daring to say whats many refuse to see or are afraid to acknowledge. I for one do not listen to any female kpop groups at all with exception of Mamamoo and Dream catcher because they all feel infinitely fake and totally empty with 0 personality of their own. I am not saying its their fault but it is what it is and I can´t relate to played on, superficial concept centric lalala dream lands that are either infentilizing grown women or sexualizing barely of age youngsters . Mamamoo are queens of Kpop.

She is also the third most credited writer in Korea as well. They all have impressive writing credits but Moonbyul is a savage BEAST!

MAMA MAMA MAMAMOO!!!! Best vocals in Kpop, you won't find another group with the vocal range and versatility of Mamamoo. They also have 300+ titles in their discography. They aren't your typical Kpop girl group, and they all have very successful solo careers. They came up around the same time as BTS under similar circumstances. They signed with a small company with not a lot of promo money, so they beat the streets much the same as BTS. In fact, early in their careers both groups became friends. You can find videos of them on stage together. Some of Mamamoo's live stage performances, especially in front of their peers at awards shows, are legendary in the Kpop industry. I only know 3 groups that come close to Mamamoo vocals-wise, and those are Big Mama, Dreamcatcher and Red Velvet.
My favorite thing I know about Mamamoo is that they are the loudest in green rooms and can be heard laughing, talking, and screaming through the walls by other groups. As an ARMY, I'm obviously here for that kind of family-feeling chaos. 🤣😂🤣

I understand why you can relate Moonbyul (The Rapper) to RM. Moonbyul write all of her own rap verses and is the most credit female idol. She's one of the real rappers in the kpop industry.
Moonbyul has full albums where she write all of her own songs. I guess her first Album Dark side of the moon with the title track Eclipse is something for your taste. Here are some basic facts about Mamamoo. Sorry in advance for the length of this comment.
Generally considered to be the premier female vocal group in kpop.
MMM debuted in 2014 under a tiny start-up label called RBW (Rainbowbridge World), formed by legendary songwriter and co-CEO Kim Dohoon with the novel idea of creating a girl group based on their creativity and talent as singers and performers rather than the usual method of forming a group based primarily on looks and dancing skills to fit a marketing concept such as cute, innocent or girl crush. MMM's members were selected from the slag heap of rejects or re-treads from other companies. The leader and eldest member Solar (2nd from left) had been rejected by about 50 agencies because she was thought to be too old, the youngest member Hwasa (far right) had been bluntly rejected and told she was fat and ugly, and the other two had signed with RBW after failing to debut with another company. MMM has never fit into kpop's standards regarding beauty, fashion, gender, sexuality or proper behavior by female idols and consequently have always been one of kpop's biggest shit magnets. However they've never cultivated a bad girl image and their songs often include positive messages encouraging self-love, self-empowerment, and acceptance & appreciation of others for their uniqueness. They're one of the few groups to take a stand in support of the lgbtq+ community via their songs, actions and statements. Mamamoo has carved out their own niche in the Korean music scene and I think their success has helped to break down barriers and expand opportunities for others. They have become universally respected role models within the industry.
From the beginning MMM had a rep as "self-sown" idols who were creatively involved in all aspects of their career from songwriting, vocal arrangements and choreography to styling and MV concepts. Your favorite, Moonbyul, almost always writes her own rap verses and has the most songwriting credits of any female idol (about 100).
As RBW had few resources to support the group in terms of staff and finances and little clout in an industry dominated by the Big 3 agencies, MMM promoted themselves by busking on the streets and performing at every event they could, often making 3 or 4 appearances a day at college festivals, etc. They may be the hardest working group in an industry with a notoriously insane work ethic and have kept it up for over 8 years. Last year they recorded and/or performed about 60 new songs and covers as a group or solo while also uploading vids to their personal yt channels, maintaining a heavy schedule of live performances and appearances on tv & radio as hosts or guests, and Solar made her critically acclaimed musical theatre debut playing the lead in Mata Hari for a 3 month run.
Best friends. Wheein & Hwasa have been bff since middle school and Solar & Moonbyul are almost inseparable. They believe they were destined to meet and become best friends even if they weren't singers or in a group together and have several songs on that topic.
All star group where every member has a successful solo career and is in high demand for features & collabs with other artists. MMM is the only group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group was still active as a unit. They have several #1 songs as solo artists and Moonbyul is the only member who doesn't have at least one win on the tv music shows as a soloist. As you noticed, Moonbyul is also an excellent singer and she was recently the landslide winner on the tv show The Second World where 8 girl group rappers competed as singers.
Legendary live performers. As any moomoo (Mamamoo fan) will tell you, Mamamoo is best when live because of their always live world class vocals, riveting stage presence and irresistible bff team chemistry. They focus on delivering excellent live vocals so dancing takes a back seat with MMM but sometimes they ditch their usual hand mics and use headset mics for songs with more energetic, difficult dance moves. You'll hear some people say MMM can't dance but that's a misunderstanding of their priorities. MMM has won a group dance award and Hwasa (considered to be the worst dancer in a group not known for their dance skills) won the 2020 MAMA solo dance award for her hit song Maria, beating out nominees like dance legend Taemin of SHINee.
Since you enjoy the story lines in the music and MVs of boy groups like BTS and Ateez you might enjoy diving into Mamamoo's 4 Season 4 Color series. Over the course of a year from spring 2018 to late winter 2019 MMM released one album per season. Each of the 4 title tracks explored a stage of love and was matched with a corresponding season and color in a complex weave of cyclical symbolism involving seasons, colors, stages of live & love, and Asian philosophical concepts. Each album also featured a self-composed solo song by one of the members. 4 Season 4 Color is the most ambitious project ever attempted by a girl group and is a historic, landmark achievement, tho imo it has never received the recognition, attention and analysis it deserves.

I agree with you so much about the 4Seasons 4Colors project. It’s a phenomenal sequence of albums. Whenever I go back to listen to the whole thing, it’s always even better than I remember. Every single track is beautifully composed, written, arranged, produced and performed. And the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. It’s a deep emotional journey.
My understanding is that creating those albums was an utterly exhausting process for them. In an interview, Solar was asked if she went back in time, but knowing how difficult it was, would she want to do that project again. She couldn’t bring herself to answer that question. She simply said, “it’s finished now”.
@@moomoobebe I don't recall that interview so thanks for sharing what she said. It's so like Solar to be diplomatic and say the bare minimum. In my experience there's always a price to paid for achieving your highest artistic dreams and it can be devastating, as we saw when Wheein had a breakdown as MMM was about to fly to LA for KCON in 2019.

Not you loving all my fav groups!! I stan BTS and ATEEZ and i had the same issue as you mentioned about girl groups in general, but there's something different about Mamamoo. They all have amazing vocals and personalities. The rapper you loved is Moonbyul, she's also an great vocalist. Also, since you mentioned Namjoon, Moonbyul and Jin are besties!! The girl beside her with a pony is Solar, she's the captain and a powerful vocalists. Then the girl with soulful voice, her name's Wheein, personally she's one of my most fav voices. Then the girl in the last is Hwasa, an amazing vocalist and rapper. Btw i love their live performances!!

I think mamamoo put a spell on their live performances, no matter how many times I watch their live performances to the amount that I should've get sick of it already, but each time I saw new reaction pop up it my tl, I ended up enjoying it all over again, and still amazed like it's my first time watching it.

Mamamoo is the girl group of girl groups. Every girl group fan girls over them because they have set the standards for much of what came after them. It's hard to call them a girl group when they are women. Solar the leader is 31 Moonbyul the rapper being 30 and Wheein and Hwasa are both 27. They are a full package because of their ability to be entertaining just being themselves. days of funny fun videos of them.
They have a huge library of song. Everyone of them a gem. Their non-title will also chart. You can't go into a shopping district in South Korea and not hear one of their songs. Channels that have do walking tours in those area proves that to be true.

Mamamoo It's pure perfection, they're all soloists, composers, anyway, they do everything, especially they always sing live... they never learned how to do Lip sync..... they have been made due to circumstances beyond their control and it shows
well my first feeling about mamamoo was about their message and meaning actually. I was going through a lot in my life when I discover mamamoo and their possitive message help so much. If you gravitate towards male groups, I think you'd really like MONSTA X. They just dropped a new single, Beautiful Liar (and mini album, Reason!) that's very rock heavy, and have some other rock heavy songs. One of them is currently in the military and a couple other members will follow soon too, but I highly recommend you check them out still! Older age = more maturity in their music!

Mamamoo are awesome, in a league of their own! Also to add, if you like harmonies and like you said those certain notes that do it for you, you should check out Big mama's killing voice performance. You will not be disappointed.
Killing Voice is one of the best YT channels if someone wants to hear some true VOCALS :D I really recommend diving into it :D if u liked MAMAMOO I think that you will like Ailee too :D
I understand about the boy group thing. Companies give boy groups more comebacks and a chance to go solo years before a member of a girl group would get it because a) the young girl demographic is great at buying AND streaming and b) they gotta get the most out of their boy groups before enlistment. Girl group music is as good as boy group music but people who don't listen to it tend to think that 2nd gen girl groups music(e.g. T-ARA, Girls Generation, 2NE1, fX, etc) is what current girl group music sounds like and that is not the case. I had this same train of thought when I first started listening to K-Pop, coming from listening to primarily metal and EDM, and was pretty surprised at the diversity of sounds. For someone who likes Ateez I think that you might like Dreamcatcher, who have the same producer as Ateez. Dreamcatcher has rock & EDM influenced title tracks and a variety of genres in their B-sides. Other good girl groups to start with would be (G)I-dle(self-produced with an overall cool vibe) and Everglow(the only group who can do girl crush well after Blackpink), as they're around the same age as Ateez and have unique takes on what a girl group should sound like.
I don't listen to many boy groups but I would think Monsta X would interest you. They have a sexy edge that doesn't feel inorganic and some of the best vocals & rap in K-Pop.
This is always worth another listen!

In fact, with that video IS NOT possible to notice all of their talent (yes, theres more!). Because 2 members were a bit sick which affect their voices. So I highly recommend "Delilah" live performance and "Immortal Songs Live"! There you can hear that not only Solar (2nd left) can sing this well but also Hwasa and Wheein! (3rd and 4th from left)
Please listen to their Immortal Songs Medley! A great live performance with their house band, you could probably comment on the drummer. Mamamoo are the pocket, when they are in a groove with other musicians on drums/guitar/bass/brass, it just sounds awesome.
Hi new subscriber here. Congratulations on the channel and the reaction. I'm 40 years old and I've always listened to Rock. Over the past 15 years I've known kpop and I've surprisingly enjoyed it. One of the groups I listen to and like the most is Dremacatcher. I would recommend you to react to them as they have a unique sound unlike anything else in kpop.
