Interchangeable spikes without welding. Drill recessed holes into the wood. Insert the nuts into the recessed holes and slide the pipe on top of it. When you screw the bolts in, the nuts will stay because they're larger than the holes in the pipe. Also, be sure to put a little piece of metal under the nut so that the bolt doesn't dig into the wood as you torque down.
I think I'd go with the short spikes at all times. The long spikes are more likely to be caught in a zombie head at the beginning of the apocalypse when the zombies are more intact. The last thing you want in this situation is for your weapon to be stuck in an enemy's head.
Just a bit of info: Spikes on clubs aren't for penetrating, they're for focusing the force of a blow into a smaller surface area transferring more power to the target. It's the percussive force that causes the damage, they can kill people wearing helmets without penetrating the helmet and padding underneath. Last thing you want when attacking is a spike stuck in a dead guys head while other people/zombies are trying to get at you. If you're hitting someone without a helmet flat square 1cm long spikes would be the better option. Btw im not knocking this video, this video is awesome, keep up the good work dude i'v subscribed :)
A blunt weapon is by essence a weapon designed to cause heavy unprnetrating traumatic injuries. The long bolts are making the club weaker, even if sharpened as spikes, in a zombie outbreak scenario they would get stuck inside a zombie skull after the first blow. The shorter bolts are definitely better as it would performs kinda like a knuckle. Penetrating short ranged weapons such as knives would, I think, only work onscreen. Clubs, hammers or war hammers would be ideal for close ranged combat as you could either kill the zombie rather quickly or bust its legs and then run. Nice video I really dig that design!
On the drilling holes on the bat and to epoxy the nuts inside. Something to strengthen the hold ub might be to drill the hole on the outer metal pipe sheath just to the diameter of the inside of the nut so your not only using epoxy, but your using the pipe as part of the stabilizer for the nut and epoxy.
Idea I don't have the stuff to do it welder Cutters what have you but what about a for flanged mace made out of two double bit Axe Heads cut in the middle so they can be meshed together then welded at the Four Points the fun part is trying to figure out what to do for the handle
Chaos Garage I hear you! I’ll Be doing a lot more like this, I have way too much fun with it! Do you know about ZNA productions? That kid has about 1000 videos where he makes the craziest weapons and body armor and all kinds of stuff. Love his channel.
The Nocturnal Alchemist Good question, these tunes Actually came from UA-cam’s resources. They have a bunch of royalty-free music they offer to video creators. But I also have some that I bought years ago from a place called videocopilot.net I’m looking into some other options too.
Yeah I think the bolt heads would get stuck pretty easily. I would have preferred boiled linseed treatment of the handle. It is such a shame but maces and flails are illegal in Australia. If they weren't I would probably have a shed full of experiments lol. They seem to ban just about anything that is fun in Australia. So I will have to live vicariously through you at this point. Keep up the awesome work. Maybe you can make a flail next. But I would love to see more knife videos too.
scottecooke Hey, thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I think I might do a couple knife videos soon, these projects are fun but I’m starting to miss a more conventional project. Maybe I’ll just keep changing it up to keep it interesting. Thanks again!
Try it with a pipe cap on the top and no bolt-spikes. This would be a configuration someone without a welder could fabricate, but I’m betting would still be quite effective.
What if it’s a home invasion and you’re in Canada or UK and you can’t legally protect your home and loved ones because you would end up in prison? Would it be permissible to just neutralize the threat?
Babushka Gopnik That’s a good question. I like hardwood because it’s relatively light and very strong. They use Hickory for a lot of tool handles for good reason. But I wouldn’t really make a recommendation except just to experiment.
Even welds scan break. Granted the nuts were only tack welded, but at around 8:10 in the video, one breaks off. Sorry, me and my over focused sense of observation. Probably wouldn't have noticed, if it wasn't in slow motion. 😁
Would you recommend using JB Weld if you don't have access to a welder? I'm thinking drill down thru the pipe and slightly into the wood. JB Weld the nuts to the pipe. More epoxy in the holes and thread the bolts in. I would be using short bolts for this.
Looks like it is ready to use on the zombies. If you have a reddit account you should post it on your_homemade_weapon community. Here is the link: www.reddit.com/r/your_homemade_weapon/

Supportive commentary is surely always appreciated.

Finally someone who knows what he speaking about
i love the zombie metabolism defence part around the 1/3 mark

You sir, just gave a whole new meaning to the term clubbing lol
I When will you start making videos again? I really miss your content

You should send this type of project to the channel ZombiegoBoom to have a real realistic test
Quentin Lauzevis That’s actually a pretty great idea, thanks for the feedback! Have a great day!
my goodness am i first? the is the biggest moment in my life 😂😂. looks sweet man ! keep it up
backyardbladesmith 😂😂😂 Thanks, my friend!
I like it! More like this would be sweet. It makes me want to go make one right now!

I’d prefer no spikes on the end. Nothing to get snagged.
You can never have enough zombie slayers. Can I ask where you get your music from?

FargoFX yea so far I have just used UA-cam's music. I'm looking to find another source. I've heard of a couple not sure if they are any good tho.

You know it’s only illegal if they find them
@@EhmedCousCous Haha. thanks for reminding me of FargoFX's videos. Shame he hasn't posted in a while.

Oh, this is most certainly practical.
''What I have learned watching zombie shows...'' ;D

I keep laughing every time I see your videos Lol keep up the awesomeness!
Mark Tyler Wow! Huge thanks, my friend! 👍
A spike or large nail on the top to give it a 5 point weapon would be awesome.
Alot of trench clubs from ww1 were lead filled or had a fairly sized spike on the top for thrusting
Awesome video. I would like to see more builds like this along with the knives and stuff
Jessy Kirk Thanks for the input! Glad you liked the video. Cheers!
i’ve never seen anyone else call it something other than a trench _mace_
What do you think would make the most durable base for a club?
Babushka Gopnik That’s a good question. I like hardwood because it’s relatively light and very strong. They use Hickory for a lot of tool handles for good reason. But I wouldn’t really make a recommendation except just to experiment.
probably the bat
Probably hickory or oak.
You could try melting plastic if you have a welder or solder.
Any hardwood you can get, ash is a good kind of tree to look for.

Those pieces of pipe are called "nipples" at the hardware store btw
i like the small 1
Awesome project brother👍🤘👊
Thanks, Reaper!
Love this video please make more like this one

Finnaly! Someone who knows about anotamy and fighting instead of just "stab it with a knife!"
Spikes are stupid idea but yes he isnt as stupid as the others
Can do same damage with my “world war 1 “ foot .. try something alil more tuff?
I think shorter sharp bolts would be most effective
No bolts would be the most effective
how wells does this work against football and riot gear
I would have a baes under ground
You just made a mace

Sir, a group of zombies is not a 'herd' of zombies. It is an 'apocalypse' of zombies.
now its 50$
