Thank you for this video! I was ready to buy the 16 inch inspiron plus with the same configuration as yours. I changed my mind... You saved me 1500 CAD$.
Dell is lacking innovation. There are few businesses, when they're at their peak, become complacent and no longer innovate, and in the end they collapse.
So, with the charger Dell provides in the box, you can't charge and use the USB-C port at the same time. You need to order a separate barrel plug charger if you want to do that. Thanks, Dell, that's super awesome of you! /s
Great as always. Looking forward to see a review of the 'Ideapad Slim 5i 16". Please review the base model with FHD+ IPS display. Lenovo is giving that laptop with a FHD+ 100% sRGB almost everywhere but they still keep that terrible 42% NTSC version around.
I’ve never understood why Dell doesn’t sell anywhere except their site ((maybe in the US or other countries it’s different, I don’t know, but _in my country you can’t buy Dell machines in any physical store,_ retail and non…even Amazon only has “imported” models))….if Dell thinks doing that makes their products more exclusive and premium, they really need to reconsider their marketing strategies for my country.
great question! I would assume its likely to minimize overhead cost of advertising in a retail store. HP, Asus, Lenovo and Acer dominate the retail laptop space and Dell is probably unwilling or unsuccessful in adopting that approach this late in the game given their original business was order by mail (and still is for the most part). They have started selling select models on Amazon globally.
@@SoulOfTech It's a small step forward, yeah....although the models available on Amazon seem to be all US ones (the localized ones can still only be purchased on their site), no matter the regional Amazon site you buy them on. But I guess that's the business model Dell chose and they're sticking to it -- which they have the right to.
I am looking for a solid 14in windows laptop and was considering the 14 plus 7440. Thanks to your review, I am no longer considering it because I'm not going to pay $1200 for trash.
Hi, I live in the UK and am able to grab a dell inspiron 14 2-in-1 touchscreen 7430 series, 13th gen Intel i5-1335U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Intel Iris Xe graphics, for about £469 (which is $590). It's a limited time deal, where I would save about 27%, I'm quite interested in buying it. Do you think it's worth it?
sorry for late reply the sale is probably over but i would extremely recommend to buy that because at these sales dell is actually losing money so you get a lot of bang for your buck
Are you sure this is the 14-plus? or the Inspiron 14 for 2024?? Anywho, I think they downgraded from last year's 14-plus. I have the 14 plus 2023 with RTX and we have 2 vents on both sides and everything else is basically the same except my screen gets brighter than 300. Could you do a comparison video between last year's Dell Inspiron 14 plus Vs this year, and the cool new Dell Xps 14 vs last year? Love your video editing themes btw.
Hey! This is in fact the 14 Plus (7440). They have changed the design this year, though the thermals are just as bad sadly and they downgraded the display (also removed discrete GPU option on the 14" for now). Ill try to see if I can do a comparison, no promises though, got quiet a full schedule for the coming weeks. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Never trust the build quality of Dell Inspiron due to bad quality build. It does usually have nice specs, but the quality build makes it a walking lemon time bomb.
I actually find the build quality has improved in the last 2 years but the design engineering has fallen off the roof sadly. The thermal design has serious problems and it's as if Dell does not have any design engineers looking into it. This directly contributes to your well stated lemon time bomb analogy. Thanks for watching!
@sumitchaudhary343 Both Latitude and Precision have good build quality. Latitude for general web browsing, finance careers, and data analysts roles. Precision for extreme engineering. Civil engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, computer hardware engineering, and architecture.
Seen a good Inspiron 14 Plus deal with Ultra 7 processor 155H 32GB, 2x16GB, LPDDR5X, 6400MT/s 2.8K display @ £761.The hdmi port is a non issue for me as have never used one in any laptop i have had. Thanks for the review.
I'm looking for a dirt cheap laptop to run Linux on. I want a 14 inch laptop, although may have to go for a 16 inch as this laptop only comes with an Intel CPU (I really want an AMD).
i think i will buy the new pavilion 16 cos it has 2 type c ports along with hdmi 2 for the price of 1000 usd tho just that all the type c are on the right.
Hi , I had a terrible experience with a Dell laptop: Bought an Inspiron series laptop in 2018 with an i3-6006u chip for study purposes. In 2019, motherboard got damaged, replaced under warranty. In 2019 October, faced battery issues, battery was replaced. In 2020, laptop became slow, advised to add a SATA SSD for performance improvement, but no significant change. In 2021, battery problem recurred, replaced again. In 2022, faced automatic restart issue with loud noise from keyboard. Good review - would love if you popped off the back at least at the end to look at the parts, RAM, SSD upgradability, Wi-Fi card removable or not, etc.
Bought one of these before seeing this review lol. Probably could have done more research before buying but I’m sure it’ll still be alright once it arrives
Please tell me what is the best processor to take this laptop, for video editing how will behave this processor Intel Core i7-13620H with video card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, 6 GB GDDR6, will be very warm and noisy cooler cooling ?
In its current form this laptop will cause thermal issues. I would wait until Del sorts out the design problems or look at alternatives such as the Pavilion Plus series or IdeaPad Pro series.
Are there any Dell laptops out there without crazy fan noise? I used to have a top of the line XPS 15 for work. The noise that thing produced was insane...
you righly criticized them regarding HDMI, trackpad, display quality etc, never change that attitude of criticizing, subscribing coz of that only, fed up of seeing paid promo by almost every youtuber. loved this video, and at 8:55 which app is this on phone?
Seriously. If it weren't for their business department (laptops and desktops for companies, industries, firms, etc. where Dell is still a major name), they would’ve closed shop for good a long time ago imo….again I’m talking for my country - and maybe a couple of neighbouring ones too.
Dell doesn't care about personal lines since the early 2010s. Also, the Inspiron target market are broke customers that are not very tech savvy customers. Dell business line, Prosumer, and gaming market laptops are far better than this trash.
@@akin242002 Not really true - the Dell XPS, on which the brand keeps investing a lot, are not gaming laptops (quite the opposite frankly)….if they’re not mass consumer machines, it’s just because of the (too) premium prices most of the models have.
Hi, great video. Will you also review the new Dell Inspiron 16 plus (7640) with the Intel ultra 7 155H? It doesn't have any review online at the moment and i was wondering if it could have the same temperature and performance of this one. Maybe being bigger is a plus for heat dissipation? Or do you have any other raccomandation for a laptop in the same price range? Because I don't actually see any other laptop with the new Intel ultra processors in the similar price range and i don't really know if it's better to buy a laptop of the previous gen processor. I am a student and I am searching for a laptop to buy in these days because I need it right now and all shippings require many days xD. Thank you in advance :)
Hey thanks for watching. At this time I do not have any plans to cover the 16" version (got a long back log of other machines to cover). But I can tell you the 16" will have better thermals thanks to the larger body and longer heatsink pipes. It will almost certainly out perform the 14" with the same specs due to that fact alone.

Can you also include the upgrade options that each laptop has (e.g. additional M.2 slots, dual RAM slots, battery upgrades, etc.) in your reviews? Thanks.
No RAM upgrades on the Core Ultra series this year as they use fast LPDDR5X, which is not modular. This applies to all laptops with this chip in 2024. So remember that and you are half way to knowing.
