    What a terrible and long ordeal you had to suffer through. Yet you had the strength and calm to get thorough all the fevers, aches, pains, suspense of waiting to test negative and get out of quarantine and still video blog. Thanks for sharing what a harrowing experience even a “mild” case of covid can be like for those who had no idea. Glad you are on your way to a full recovery. 💪🏻👃🏻

      Thank you so much for your kind words John!
      I would definitely warn people to prepare for the just-in-case. After my pre-flight negative pcr test I didn't even think that I would test positive during the initial quarantine. Always take some local currency with you- since in quarantine you can't go to an ATM etc and I had to pay cash to the hotel staff if I wanted anything. I know now to be more patient with the pcr test results and always pack a travel exercise mat! You def need to make some time to move when you're locked in a room all day. Stay safe! xo

    This is really a nightmare and I fear it could happen to anyone travelling, even if they're vaccinated. You could still test positive (though of course if you're vaccinated less tests will be performed, so it's harder to track). Apart from being sick in a foreign country, I'd be worried the most about all the additional costs. I saw you mentioned the PCR tests weren't that expensive. What about the quarantine hotel and all the food that was delivered? Did you have to pay for all of it? Was part of it covered through the government? I know that it's different for each country .... here in Europe, most quarantine hotels will be paid by the government for you, but you'll have to pay for the food, medical expenses etc.

    • @EricaLion
      @EricaLion  3 роки тому

      That was definitely worrying - I wasn't told about how much it would cost, just that I'd have to cover hotel expenses, ambulance cost and pcr tests (meals included ) myself. But it wasn't that bad as I'd come prepared to stay longterm anyhow and Indonesian prices are more reasonable in Japan.

    I'm so sorry for what you went through but I am glad you came through it successfully. I've had both my shots (Phizer) but I will not travel until the Fall and even then just the short distance down to the city. Next year I hope to do more travel, but still just in the USA. I've heard that my government is making the vaccine available to more countries.

    What I find shocking are the number of wealthy countries that have barely started vaccinating. Aside from Japan, Australia is another one and I think it may be the case in New Zealand too. Those last two countries have protected themselves by locking down hard and early, but are potentially very vulnerable if the authorities lose control of any outbreak. Here in the UK the Government was probably three weeks too slow in locking down, resulting in thousands of probably unnecessary deaths. But have done a good job since with the vaccine roll out. About three quarters of the adult population have had at least one jab, although that's not enough protection for the new Indian variant. And just under half the population have had two doses. At the beginning of the year about 2,000 people were dying every day, now it's down to single figures, so things are looking much more hopeful.
    I'm sorry you and your husband went through such a miserable experience and trust you are both feeling 100% now? I also hope that neither of you get any Long Covid symptoms.

    • @EricaLion
