These type of private onsen are also great for family.
You can bath together with your wife/husband and children but usually need to book in advance.

what was the cost per night? did it incluse bfast dinner?
was this the private one you can request? Or was it just private because nobody was there that day ?
I am trying to find a place to book for my husband and I, he is a vegetarian and I am not. Did you book your room first with a regular meal plan & then email the hotel with your dietary restrictions? Also we’re the private onsens by reservation only and was there a cost?
I just said in comments at the time of booking. You might want to email again just to make sure. No extra cost for private onsen!

Yeah it's the completely normal thing to do! You'll bring much more attention to yourself if you try and go in a swimsuit. Just try it and you'll love it! 💖

I went to Hakone a few years back and when I walked out of the Onsen? I wore the Yukata right over left, without knowing the meaning at all. Then a young couple saw me and laughed. At first, I have no idea what was going on until today... 😒
