Some of Vhagar's other notable riders include Baelon Targaryen, the father of Viserys and Daemon, and of course Laena Velaryon, second wife of Daemon.
All prominent riders of the mighty Vhagar!
Wow no mention of aemond one eye ok...
@@ArturoRivera2004
Well, they mentioned Aemond in the clip here, so the other guy just mentioned the other riders she had as well.
They be all wrong the only right part is they were the two riders to take vhagar to war
Don’t forget Queen Visenya Targaryen The Conqueror
My favorite part of this video is that Vhagar is so big she barely fits onscreen😂
lol 😂
She is bigger than allah😮

And he will lose his other eye and his dragon when he faced his uncle
Vhagar's size is smaller than Balerion but bigger than Meraxes at the time of her death.
But during the time of the Conquest, shes the smallest mount being the youngest of the three dragons of the Conquerors.
In terms of Vermithor, Vhagar is only larger than him, Dreamfyre was outpaced by the Bronze Fury because she was kept under the Dragonpit whilst Vermithor and Silverwing rested on the Dragonmont for decades.
The Cannibal is a bit confusing, because he's the largest of the wild dragons and most who witnessed it dare even say. He's larger or as large as the Black Dread. I hope we would be able to see him, as Rhaena don't have a dragon yet.
The cannibal is gonna be an interesting one to see on screen. I wonder how that one will be interpreted.
rhaena does have a dragon it just doesnt hatch til much later into the war, its the only non wild dragon to survive the dance, shes pink and named morning
Only Tyrion believes that Vhagar was smaller than Meraxes during the Conquest. We have no reason to believe it was true.
We know during the Dance he was smaller than Vermithor and Vhagar, which makes sense given that it's estimated he hatched esrly into Jaehaerys reign.
How you know that many details about all those other dragons and then not know about Rhaena's babygirl, Morning?
Vhagar was almost 50 when the conquest began. So it is safe to assume that Visenya was also not it's first rider (she was 28). She was also the smallest dragon at the time, even though Meraxes was younger. It gives credence to the theory that dragons that fly more, grow more, for Meraxes flew more than Vhagar and Balerion combined.
The name Vhagar is the namesake for the Valyrian god of war. It's real world counterpart can be Anann, Anat, Atha, Athena, Bast, Bellona, Cadmaela, Durga, Idis, Inanna, Jiutian, Juno, Pele, Sausa, Sekhmet, Tanit, Zorya, etc. (female war personifications specifically).
When it comes to her riders that we know of, it was:
Visenya,
Riderless,
Baelon the Brave, father of Viserys and Daemon,
Riderless,
Laena Velaryon,
Aemond.
I have not heard of that theory. Makes sense though
Where did you get the God of War reference for the name?
Do we know Meraxes was really younger? Also, there was no dragonpit or anything, so the Dragons were free to fly whenever they wished. Surely, Vhagar could've had plenty of room to "spread her wings", so to speak.
Also, it's speculated that her first rider may have been a lady of House Velaryon, wife to a Targaryen lord at the time
….and yet Vhagar and Balerion were bigger than Meraxes, so that theory is absolutely fkn ASS.
@@Drakkonemus The actor who plays Aemond Targaryen said it somewhere. He got to know this during production.
And then Balerion was even BIGGER. The size she was during the Dance with Aemond, was the size Balerion was during the Conquest. And yet something in the Ruins of Valyria left a BIG GASH in him.
Really spooky to think about. As awesome as the dragon kaiju fight would be
The gash also took an exceptionally long time to heal, and Balerion also became very docile and reclusive after having gone to Valyria.
Probably got attacked by a giant fire wyrm
A theory mentioned it was Valerya's emperor Aurion's dragon
I heard, and believe a theory he was also infected with parasites like Aerea. But being a dragon, he was able to live through it.
We need a spin off series for the more magical stories of the ancient lands in the east.
That wpuld be so sick
Only if George writes it first
It'd be a good comedy if they made all the Valyrians except for the Targaryens black.

Back when Dragons actually grew large before the dragon pit was built... Maegor was an idiot for having it built
You think it stunts theor growth in a way?
@@loremonkeyOf course it does. It's like a goldfish in a bowl, it can only grow to a certain size not more than the bowl. But, put it in a pond, and it will GROW.
I was unaware goldfish got big in ponds. Maybe my biology need brushing up on
There’s a theory that the more a dragon flies the larger they grow, if that true then it makes the dragon pit even more dumb 😂
Would be interesting. Maybe it could be worked around with regular flyings

Vhagar really do be an old lady in the show
Could you imagine that Balerion was even sort of small compared to the greatest dragons of the Freehold? I always wondered if that was supposed to be one of the historians in world myths or actually true. If it were true, they’d probably need to eat like 1000 sheep a day.
The Freehold sounds banans. No doubt the tales grow in the telling, but even dragons moderately bigger than Balerion really make it clear why they named them after gods
@@loremonkey It’s really crazy because if that were true and it’s also true that only they could control dragons - then there’s no reason they shouldn’t have taken over the entire world with literally minimal effort.
They were probably too concerned with infighting. Most likely, they knew that and didn't bother wasting their time and instead jockeyed for status in the freehold
@@loremonkey True. As far as I can remember, there’s like shockingly little information about how the Freehold actually functioned or any notable people in it. I’ve always found that weird. We know there was no King or Emperor, and had about 40 different dragon lord families but that’s about it. Shit, there’s more information on Yi-Ti and shit than there is on Valyria. But yeah, it’s safe to assume there was probably a shit load of infighting.
It does make sense as if you destroyed all the books about something and killed anyone who knew anything about it. That's basically all the info just gone. I also bet not many people visited because wizards and dragons are scary, but you would think Aenar might have brought a book about the place with him. Idk, maybe everyone there just didn't get out much
She is one of the scariest but coolest dragons ever!!!
Until dhe met Caraxes
If the Queen of All Dragons will be bestowed to a dragon. It will be Meraxes, that silver mount of Queen Rhaenys laid numerous eggs during the early reign of the Conqueror until its death. Her hatchlings were Quicksilver, Dreamfyre, Vermithor, Silverwing, and several unnamed wild dragons. The Bronze Queen is more fitted for Vhagar.
Fun fact about Vhagar, she had dragon dementia so bad that she thought all her future riders were Visenya.
Really?
Did vhagar tell you that?
@@KingInBlack69Yes, she thought Luke and Arrax were Dornish. That’s why she killed them.

@@sametcer4806 Agreed. Aside from CGI, they probably downscaled them to place more focus on the actor.

I love the way you described Alicent's relationship with her daughter Helaena. Like she said in episode 9 to Otto "I wanted whatever you impressed upon me to want." The fact that her innocence got stolen is the very reason Helaena is such a mistery to her.
And the Blood worm still kills her. Rips her throat out while Daemond humbled Eemond's other eye.

@@loremonkeyput it in context… the blood worm only damage due to cheap tricks and died in the process also … so after being sneaked attack vhagar still manage to take the blood worm with her …
That was cause Caraxes is smaller and faster and did a sneak attack on Vhagar who’s old and slow. When dragons get bigger with age they get slower and they’re easier targets for attacks. Caraxes is one of the fastest Targaryen dragons.

I do my best bro
“Balerion the black dread” was very large and dangerous but he was definitely not the largest dragon ever, he was the biggest Targaryen dragon ever tho.
In old Valyria there were much larger dragons.
Also if we count Sea dragons and Ice dragons then we have to calculate much differently.
Sea dragons are much larger and stronger than fire dragons.
Ice dragons are even stronger and bigger than sea dragons.
Imagine a normal ice dragon is the size of Balerion the black dread, so a big ice dragon is much bigger.
Edit- sea dragons are not a 100% confirmed to be dragons (they could be more like sea snakes in that case) and some say they don’t exist. Also when I looked them up there is no information known about how large they were exactly, but at least they were very large (maybe even larger than ice dragons).
The exact measurements get murky because there is so much unconfirmed stuff but it's cool to think there may be even more dangerous creatures
I mean there is the skeletal remains of naga.
Truuuue, but who know how much of that is fiction and folklore. Tales grow in the telling they say
Where is it stated that there are much larger dragons than Balerion? He was centuries old and died of old age…Maybe that he lived his final years in “captivity”? But for all the knowledge we have of old Valyria he’s that largest known dragon
It isn't stated. Balerion isntheblargest recorded dragon. So you can't confirm it. But knowing the Targaryens were a lesser house of Valyria you would assume they wouldn't have the biggest dragons
Queen of all dragons
Caraxes says Hi xd
Did ya girl dirty like that
Who's bigger
@@user-zm7it9bd9gVhagar is way bigger. Which makes Caraxes even more dope
Just a quick correction my brother, The Black Dead was the largest in Westerosie recorded history. Since the Valyrian freehold was destroyed after the Doom (the Island was a volcano) along with their records. It is safe to say there were dragons larger. I theories that other dragons under better conditions lived longer and got larger. He didn't exactly have the best life, he spent a long time as a weapon of war. Also the cannibal is believed to be the oldest Dragon in Westeros as some on Dragonstone say he was there even before the Targaryen's. Vhagar hatched on Dragonstone.
Vhagar looks and is built like A kamodo dragon wit wings
A really really big komodo dragon
@@loremonkey lol hell yea I love how they made her build it was a unique thought and creation
She'smy favorite, also being present since Aegon's conquest till the Dance of the Dragons, she might be the dragon that caused the most destruction in westeros.
Balerion was not the biggest Dragon in their recorded history. In fact most Valyrian Dragons ridden by Dragonlords were likely larger than Balerion.
The Targaryens were actually one of the weaker Houses in the Valyrian Empire, and were more or less seen as unimportant.
how does the Targaryen weakness in Valyria translate to Balerion's size generations after Valyria ended?
@@rexibhazoboa7097 The term "biggest dragon in recorded history," is wrong. That was the point I was making
@@Baelfyre there's no doubt in Old Valyria there might have been dragons bigger than the "Black Dread", but all that information, records, architecture and history perished during "the Doom". Since there's no reference point regarding the dragons of Old Valyria, my guess is, it's safe to say Balerion was the largest dragon in recorded history.
She also has the ability of changing her size on every scene of the show
THAT WAS A POWERFUL DRAGON
Caraxes: That's cute
Caraxes can't do more
caraxes was much weaker and did a suicide attack to stand any chance
Vhagar is also a little magical wizzard that stuns you for half the game and takes away 80%of your hp with two buttons
Scariest part is as titanic as Vhagar got, she STILL wasn't as big as Baleron grew to be. Balerion at his peak must've been fucking terrifying
He aint called the dread for nothing
Cannibal is the biggest
now imagine the fact that Hagar was practically a dwarf compared to the dragons of old Valyria
Understandable why they were naming them after gods
I don't know where people keep getting that the dragons of Valyria were bigger than Balerion/Vhagar. That's never been mentioned anywhere.
There's really not a lot of concrete evidence on most things from Valeria. But knowing the Targaryens were a small and unnotable house relative to the others in the freehold, it makes sense they wouldn't have the biggest/strongest dragons. Would be kinda weird if they did
Virmethor is the most aggressive and feroscious dragon hence the name the Bronze Fury and many trying to tame him died! And while not a as big a Vhagar, Virmethor is not far off from Vhagars size either
or verocity... dont know about that one. we are awaiting Verminthor right now...
Still caraxes managed to overpower her ❤

Vhagar was large, strong, but fell in the middle due to age. Stealthy and her color played a part, but Balerion was bigger, stronger! Vermithor was more ferocious, Meleys too fast and Caraxes has better maneuverability.
Almost as large as Balerion DURING THE CONQUEST. Not Balerion at his full size close to the end of his life. He was impressively massive.
I love it when they drew aemond like the tv show

Yeah, dude, people are talented
My favorite dragons has to be Sunfyre (I hate its rider tho.) and number 1 spot goes to Meleys the red queen and i love her rider.
Who knows if the dragons of Old Valyria could be even bigger than Balerion
Could very well be true. Or other beasts could live that were larger than dragons
@@loremonkeythere was a beast in old Valyria that gravely wounded even the great Balerion and caused him to run away. It's said the land is haunted by demons and god knows what that means. At the very least they may have mutants that resulted from blood magic experiments and giant fire wyrms
@@bloodangel19 Blood worms are horrifying
It is said there was sorcerers in greater houses. So its safe to say that they were able to use blood magic to make their dragon larger. Balerion was probably small compared to the ones more powerful houses had.
I bet a crossover between this universe and monster hunter would be dope as hell. Imagine the people of westeros reaction to a creature like Dalamadur. A giant snake dragon 1400 ft in length.

I have this theory about the dragons. Since they only get bigger as they age, and the ones in Valyria were supposedly even bigger... what if the volcanoes were dragons? How big did the dragons get? As big as a mountain?
Vhaegar: Minus One.

Visenya would have loved Aemond
She had many riders 😅
A bit permiscuous
Okay so Vhagar was not nearly as big as Balerion period, she was near Balerions size at the time of the conquest, but not near his size when Balerion died. I’d love to see Balerions final size bc that’ll be insane
Homie would be THICC
How was Vhager hatched on dragon stone? How would she have been big enough to help take control of the seven kingdoms? Also I could have sworn they said Vhager was the last dragon alive to see Valeria
Breath so hot it could cook knights ? Like all the other dragons ? 😂
If it melted the knights armor, the knight wouldn't be inside the armor to be cooked inside lol. The armor would be in a metal puddle on the ground lol.
The puddle knight
I am a little confused about her size. Was she as big as balerion when he died or as big as him when aegon used him to conquer westeros
At her death at Battle Above God's Eye, she was VERY large but not as large as Balerion. Balerion was the only dragon to have died from old age so he was at max size at his death. Whereas Vhager was still growing.
She would have grow to the same size if she died of old age like Balerion but obviously she didn't . She had 20-30 years left so so she was very close
2nd largest dragon so not quite as big. Close enough to be comparable though
@@Nesstor01 I wonder if a dragon somehow managed to live longer than Balerion if they would end up bigger. Maybe with dragon healthcare we could get a godzilla sized one
@kingdaemon1targaryen Brings up an interesting discussion about max dragon size, though. Most dragons die violently. Whose to say another dragon could be capable of living longer and therefore growing bigger. To my knowledge, Balerion is the only one to pass from age and thats quite variable in humans.

Correct me if I'm wrong, isnt it theorized that Meraxes was actually bigger when she was still alive compared to Vhagar being the same age? If so, Meraxes wouldve been bigger then the Vhagar we got to see on screen so far. Also, if thats the case, wasnt Vhagar the same size as Balerion by the end of the Dance compared to his size via his death? Crazy to think High Ranking Valyrian Dragon Lord families had even larger Dragons

When Aemond claims her, she's pretty damn close to lore accurate size. But the CGI is inconsistent and her size changes a bit
