As a guy who was "licensed" in the US Army on 18 ton and up vehicles ranging from mraps like the rg31, husky, Buffalo, matv up to shitty 113's, Bradley's (not much experience in those bad ass fuckers though), and the teensy hmwvv, it all depends on the size of the power steering pump. Things like the matv steer just like your car cause they've been made proper. If you get the 4 wheeled steering on husky instead of the 2 (gen2 vs gen1 if I member properly), they didn't put in another pump or buff it up at all and it might as well be unpowered. Literally need to start moving if you want to turn and I don't feel like explaining why that's utter shit in a vehicle meant for finding IEDs during route clearance lol. Most vehicle's are fine but there's the odd fuck or some unmaintained PoS that's always the exception.
Fun fact, our clearance company got one of only three 2-seater huskies in trashcanistan. They have a CROW on top its pretty badass.
Or the early up-armored hmwvvs. You literally CAN NOT turn the wheel unless the vehicle is rolling forwards or backwards, if it's sitting stationary, good fucking luck. Same thing with the LMTV series, you can get a little bit but you have to wrench the guts out of the wheels to get it to "neutral street".

hey phly you should play the A-36 as a fighter its bassically a low tier p-51 and the 10x 50cals sounds great. also the wirbelwind sounds cooler now.

The A-36 has a lot worse performance than any P-51s, especially at altitude. Its power dropped a lot there. Definitely not recommend it in air RB.

Basically, I'd start with a Bunk Bed frame and screw particle board around the sides and on top... except there's no bed on top. Then, the only way to get to the bottom area is though a 3ft wide hole cut out up there. Which, of course, that 'scrap' piece you've cut out, you'll throw hinges on and presto: the hatch! :P

Hey I recommend taking 1 belt of HE, not just for aircraft but it allows you to reload the AP belt faster by switching to the HE and then back to the AP. Similar to the Dardo and switching its belts.

Phlee, play the I-185 (M-82) for CAS. It is WAAAAAY underrated (3x20mm with powerphul AP + bombs/rockets). It's also really phast.
And it turns really well, and for whatever reason it doesn't like being shot down.
Yo Phyl, They have nothing to replace the R2Y that is why they remained in the game. If they remove them 3 jets from the TT then well, the bomber line ended as early as 4.7....
The German got M48 and Ostwin II replaced their removed vehicles.

theres actually post war vehicles suggested to replace them but is too weak or too strong depending how they implement it, for example the T1, it has only 1 .50 cal but! it can carry aim9b and goes over 900kmph!

Yes i'm aware a few of Japanese trainer jets but since they are meant for training so they mostly lacking of good ground strike ordnance especially to replace the R2Y which are all ground attack aircraft.

The R2Y was a prototype reconnaissance plane. 3 were built but it did not enter service. The R2Y2 was never completed. R2Y was unarmed and propeller driven with a 6 blade on the nose. The R2Y2 puts the guns where the engine went on R2Y and added the under wing engine nacelles to house the turbo jets.

Red Tails depiction of 30mm is almost as "good" as the one in DCS, where MK108 has the same explosion effect as .50 cal incendiary.

You can actually control wheeled vehicles with a race wheel, however, the pedals do not work, well they do, but not in a good way. Pressing down on the gas pedal will make the vehicle go forward, but releasing it makes it go backwards, meaning you can't stop, unless you somehow keep the gas pedal perfectly in the middle. I have done this with the pak puma as a test, and that was the part that made me decide not to go through with this in a battle, because it makes it impossible to do much lol.
surely you can rebind it to having the break go in reverse, this game has like 20 million keybinds and works really well with my hotas setup after i rebound some things (including the joystick, which is analog, just like a gas pedal
@@agentbarron3945 nope, throttle for ground vehicles is forwards or backwards and when trying to hook it up to the pedals it doesn't let you distinguish the two, its puts them both on the pedal you use. I do hope they eventually allow you to switch gears yourself, that way you can use pedals, all you have to do is put it in reverse.

The thing is the R2Y2 did exist, it was built and it did flew, but its jet engines were not ready and the only prototype was fittied with a prop engine for testing, but the war ended before it could see service. The only finished version was completed under US supervision but it never flew and it was scrapped some time later.

Drove LAV 3s in the Canadian Forces and they drove just like a car. Had an automatic gearbox and power steering and was really sweet to drive, even in the desert. Easily could do 80-90km/h across a reasonably flat field. If ya want any more info Phly, shoot me a message lol

fun fact : in war thunder if you turn your wheels, let's say, all the way to the right, and then you wanna turn them all the way to the left, if you press your A key to turn it will turn them slowly to the left, but if you let go of the D key then your wheels will immediately snap back to the center, and it makes it quicker to turn your wheels. Try it, you'll see, there's a massive difference, and I don't know why it does that

(R2Y1) was the same plane but with a single 6 bladed prop on the front for testing. it was to test and prove the airframe of the R2Y2 Keiun Kai.
this was done to speed testing, so that when the german jet engines arrived in japan, they could be mounted to the R2y2 right away. of course the engines never arrived.
Just like the j7w1 shinden was the intitional test bed and quick production type, but the option was always there to upgrade it to a jet for the J7W2 version.

Hey Phly. I drive semi trucks for a living and idk if its the same for military vehicles but turning the wheel isn't hard but you have to turn the wheel more to turn effectively. I.e. in a car you rotate the wheel once to turn hard left, in a truck it's 2 or 3 rotations to turn hard left or right

Type 87 meets WW2 vehicles very often. Type 87 was put in to service in 1987. The Abrams went in to service in 1986. Let that sink in.

Drove strykers and Mraps, and its completely dependent on the steering. The flat bottom strykers had air steering which sucked and blew out all the time, made it difficult to turn. The double v-hull strykers had nitrogen steering and wow, that was thing responsive... almost too responsive for a 24 ton vehicle. Still, made it fun to drive, could turn it with a pinky, but the double v-hull were brand new when we got them and had less than 5 hours of service time from the factory, the flat bottoms had thousand of hours and were hold overs from 2nd ID.

Depends. Wheels are usually faster but if you go completely off road, Ive seen Navy Seals in their Polaris Razors struggle to keep up with an M1 Abrahms . The first American Top Gear is were you can see this race. All the while the M1 is having to hit specified targets along the course. Didn't need to to stop to shoot though. This is because M1 Abrahms lol.
