We as humans have a tendency to wrap our identities around our sins. So when the sin is attacked, it feels like a personal attack against who we are. It can be very difficult to separate that, but Jesus Christ gives us the ability to grow through it.

It’s crazy when ppl say God changed them. My life has been so hard. Im struggling. I started reading the Bible and ppl literally have been played and struggling for thousands of years. I get what you mean but let me just explain why he made that comparison. I’m sure we all know that alcoholism can kill. And since we as Christians know homosexuality is a sin and we know that sin leads to spiritual death, it’s a valid comparison. Now some people may argue that everyone including Christians sin. This is true, we all sin, however, there’s a big difference between sinning and continuing to sin and sinning and then repenting afterwards. When you truly repent, you do everything in your power to not commit that sin anymore. But people who choose to continually stay in sin, such as people who practice homosexuality, are heading towards eternal death. Sin might not kill you while you’re still on this Earth but it will in the long run. Anyways, my point in this isn’t to argue, I just wanted to explain why he used that example from a Christian perspective.

I'm a Catholic, I've been looking at Orthodoxy and I really like it, I'm still studying both, but what matters to me the most is being a son of God along the global church. Either way I really liked this word, very clear message, I'd also like to add 1 Corinthians 13:4-8: (ESV) Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.
I converted from Catholicism to Orthodoxy. It’s nice because it feels familiar yet more pure and focused on Christ. The biggest difference I find is that they don’t follow the pope they try to put Jesus as the head of the church as much as possible. And if you look up “Vatican world children’s day, drag queen” it’s a good example of why i left the Catholic Church.

There was actually a process for that, including involving the priest/pastor of the church, and should someone attempting to make amends be refused, it could land on the other party. We shouldn't judge in our personal lives, or for petty reasons, but it is absolutely fine to judge someone who isn't biblical, and we are most especially not supposed to yolk ourselves with unbelievers, or just accept sin/take a live and let live attitude to that which offends God. Burning witches for instance, was perfectly fine, up until the modern day, when society shifted focus from doing an objective good for society regardless of it's popularity, to being popular and getting along with everybody. The trouble with his analogy is that drinking is harmful, whereas sex isn't. If someone has a sex life nobody gets hurt, assuming there's consent.

I get what you mean but let me just explain why he made that comparison. I’m sure we all know that alcoholism can kill. And since we as Christians know homosexuality is a sin and we know that sin leads to spiritual death, it’s a valid comparison. Now some people may argue that everyone including Christians sin. This is true, we all sin, however, there’s a big difference between sinning and continuing to sin and sinning and then repenting afterwards. When you truly repent, you do everything in your power to not commit that sin anymore. But people who choose to continually stay in sin, such as people who practice homosexuality, are heading towards eternal death. Sin might not kill you while you’re still on this Earth but it will in the long run. Anyways, my point in this isn’t to argue, I just wanted to explain why he used that example from a Christian perspective.

I converted from Catholicism to Orthodoxy. It’s nice because it feels familiar yet more pure and focused on Christ.
The biggest difference I find is that they don’t follow the pope they try to put Jesus as the head of the church as much as possible. And if you look up “Vatican world children’s day, drag queen” it’s a good example of why i left the Catholic Church.
