Our family was rough and tough back in the day! When my husband wanted to ask one of the “White” boys if he could marry his daughter he was stressed out! My husband is kind and sweet, hardworking and shy! Well I was my Dad’s daughter and spoiled rotten! Daddy was building a near by lake in Texas about 100 miles away! He worked on the heavy equipment 7 days a week because it was his and he was under contract! So I wrote daddy who was staying there to see when he was coming home! Now he had a good idea why I was asking not to mention Mama’s letter telling him! So he stayed away. We were high school sweethearts! My brother n daddy were working together! My older married sister and her husband lived next door! I was the baby! And big for my britches! Half the town was scared of my daddy! My papa and his brothers started it all n then daddy and bro n cousins kept it going! Then to add to that my uncle played pro ball before pads n my granddad had the record on a dirt track at a nearby college and the Whites were hot stuff! That was my maiden name! My husband was an athlete and got scholarship to play football n run track! He had 5 interceptions in a playoff game but not from town! His mom graduated there but he was 6th grade before he arrived and my family had tall tales told about them often! Lol so he was working nights at a local truck stop n said do not say anything too your daddy I want to ask him! I was young and headstrong and woke up and Daddy was home! I rushed in their bedroom n was giddy with excitement! Can you tell I was a daddy’s girl? Anyway I said Daddy We want to get married! Now this was the man who legends were built about him n his rough man family! He didn’t say a word! He got out of bed and reached for his pants and and his shotgun and headed out the door! Oh my! Baby doll pj glad daughter ran out the back door and headed to the truck stop to warn Ronnie! I was crying my eyes out! My sister n her husband were getting gas and Sis said slow down! I was crying screaming for Ronnie! Tommy said what ? And I told him n he ran looking for Ronnie! He said Derrell will calm down but you better run! Nope he was going to stand his ground! I was sobbing and so was Sis because daddy didn’t like anybody dating his baby and we didn’t know what he was going to do with that shotgun! Now as I tell it Ronnie was making himself small behind a tractor tire when daddy came stomping in with his shotgun in hand! He asked a trucker if he had seen Ronnie n he pointed in side! We begged n pleaded and the trucker mosied off! Daddy came back thru the door and Ronnie gulped and said Derrell I understand you are looking for me? Daddy stuck his hand out for a shake and had a belly laugh! It seems he wanted to see what Ronnie was made of! After he shook his hand he hugged my neck and dried my tears and looked at Ronnie and said now you have something to tell your grand babies about! Well he never had to because we raised our children in the same one pony town n legends were built around men like this back in the day! But it was hard for our son and his cousins to continue that on! Not!!! They were the stuff of legends too! The day my daddy was dying in the hospital he told me you tell Stace to win the track meet for me no sad tears! Next day he won first in 5 events. 3 solo and mile n 400 relay! Papa n Papa n Papa White would have been proud even if his last name was Green!

I am one month away from turning 50, and my daddy passed away one month ago. And there was always a special bond that I had with my daddy. I miss him so much already. I have no doubt that you will always treasure the bonds with your children, and they are different. Doesn't mean you love one less or more, just different kind of bonds. I lost my dad when I was 36, he was 63, I'm almost his age when he died. I miss him everyday. Please take care, the next year will be rough, lots of holidays without him, it will be hard then it will seem a bit better but soon you'll smile when you think of him.

Then when her first day of kindergarten I cried then when she had her first child I couldn't stop shaking. When it comes to your kids you melt and become blubbering fools.
The day my girl passed will be May 14th and Mother's day this year and it's killing me.

Happy Birthday Emily! What a wonderful tribute to her Daniel. You never cease to amaze me. You are tough on the outside, but soft as a marshmallow on the inside. I was like DeJay, I didn't have anything except the shot for the episiotomy. My total labor was only two hours and 57 minutes. They told me if I ever had another child, I would need to be on the hospital grounds right after the first contraction. I just never had another because my husband was diagnosed with cancer right after our son was born. He died two days before our son's 2nd birthday. He is now 36. Life throws you curve balls once in awhile, but the important thing is to stay in the game. Sending you all love from Michigan! ❤❤❤❤❤

I remember years ago when I was living in a small cabin just outside of John Day Oregon we lived near a small creek called Pine Creek. Fished it alot and only caught smaller Cutthroat trout. Best trout ever ate and only used grasshoppers caught on folks property.

Happy 15th Birthday EmmaLee..hope you were well enough to enjoy the party..Daniel you are a great dad.. yes there is something about a dad and his daughters..I was the youngest of 3 girls..I was the tomboy...wanting to be with him and do everything he did..you remind me of him..although I'm old enough to be YOUR granny as I'm 63..but we were inseparable..I learnt a lot which has helped me through life..these are just some of the things I can do..I've laid a 50 ft cement path with curved edging stones..laid two patios..using 2 x 4 ft slabs..laid turf and helped put up fencing. I have tiled my batheooms and kitches in many houses..i can wallpaper and paint and ceiling tile..always taught to look after my machinery after use..clean down and oil up..my dad was the softy..my mom the disciplinarian..who I also learned from..sewing..knitting and crochet..baking and cooking as well as looking after the house..making your own curtains etc..i lost my dad 3 months after my 19 birthday to cancer.. we brought him home and as I was in the middle of my nurse training mom and I looked after him..broke my heart losing him..honestly still not over it 44 yrs later.. I have alteady organized my funeral at the end will be Dance with my Father by Luther Vandross because that is what I'll be doing. .mom and dad always went out dancing..stemmed from him teaching her to Lindy Hop and Jive when he was stationed over here🇬🇧 training in 43..you see my dad is from Michigan 🇺🇸.. and that song means a lot as dad always danced around with us in his arms..I would love for dad to come back of course but mostly for mom as I heard her crying for him every night..he was only 57 when he passed but there was never anyone else for her..they're together now just waiting on me..everyone else has gone..so Daniel I get that connection you have with EmmaLee..and I'm sure she realises how lucky she is to have a dad like you..just like I knew/know.. sorry I've gone the long way around to say that but just wanted to explain that I understood. By the way..the training my dad was doing was for sea offensives..so mom and dad met in 43..married in Feb 44 and then in june 44 my dad landed on Omaha beach on DDay. .my mom was busy helping too as she worked in Dowty Mecco munitions factory. .extremely proud of both my parents..hold your children close Daniel and DeJay..make every day count..you just never know what our lord has in store..at the time I railed against him taking him..only as you get older and other things slot into place you can see the path he had for us to follow. .god bless you all..🇬🇧💞✝️🙏👍😃🐾🐾🐕🐕🐓🦆

Once you are a parent it seems like that baby is going on an adventure every time you blink . They're born , you blink and they're walking and talking . Blink again and they're off to nursey school . Half a blink and they'e marching into kindergarten . Just a few blinks later they graduate from high school and blink again and they have just graduated from university and they're getting married . Now it seems like I've only blinked about 10 times and my baby has just turned 51 years old .
