Me too, the 80s VHS version also had a handful of shortened episodes, including this one. I had no idea this full version existed until today (36 years later).
In the early 1960s, "The Black Knight" was split into two 6-minute shorts, one retaining its' original title, and the other renamed "Mysterious Fires." That part was often released on public domain "Gumby" DVDs.

They tried to make him look like a human messenger, but somehow ended up making him look like an anthropomorphic pig. The human models in the 1956 episodes were far more crude and primitive.
@@ZakWolf Yeah, I know. I've seen those episodes lots of times. I too agree that those early humans in the early episodes didn't always look the best. Don't get me wrong, I like the handmade, homemade look of the early stuff, it is very charming in it's simplicity, but still, sometimes they don't look very good. And that was one of those times. *Edit: I'm not mad or annoyed, don't read this as that*
Yep; "Spongebob" has used a few Capitol Hi-Q stock music cues. So has "Ren and Stimpy", six Looney Tunes cartoons from 1958, and the really early Hanna-Barbera stuff. I remember the music cue at 2:12 playing at the start of several "Huckleberry Hound" cartoons.
How I only very vaguely remember this cartoon from when I was a kid and watching it on my TV in my Downstairs old Familyroom.
I love that when the characters do some actions, it's filmed in real time with no stop motion used (like when Gumby turns on the water hose)
When Gumby demonstrates the water hose for the good knight, the Capitol stock music playing underneath fits pretty well, too.
I only saw a shortened version of this on DVD, and watching the full episode here makes full sense why the king pardoned the dragon.
Andy-Roo B me too

"Fire!! fiiiiirre!! The wheat, are burning!!" That guy is funny when he's making eradic movements and talkin' in the distance.😂
3:20-3:25
The theme of a food shortage seems to be present (and common) in every incarnation of Gumby.
The dragon is so cute!
Love the very early gumby episodes Classic
Erector sets were a great learning tool for me.
Wow! I never knew what I was missing on that DVD from WalMart.
Same here! I think the black knight was totally edited out.
@@matthewcuellar7879 Did you have the Toon Factory - Little Lulu: Dog Show-off DVD too? Cuz, that was on said DVD.

Toss a coin for the Witcher, O Gumby of Plenty.
I love Gumby
Best. Gumby. Episode. Ever.
I had this episode on a dvd and it was in black and white. It was a lot more creepy in black and white lol.
My reaction when a whole family was crying 2:36
I wish pokey was in this more love it!😂
I can imagine the knight trying to make Pokey pull the fire “wagon” before Gumby shows him that it moves in its own.
the original red eyed Gumby is the Best Gumby!
Dark Souls In 1950's
Love gumby😊
This episode frightened me as a child. I had it on tape, and I had to tape over the part where the guy goes "HERE YE, HERE YE"!
Plus the Black Knight's laugh sounds like Jack from Tekken on PS1
Since it's clay the animation still holds up today very watchable!
CGI does it too! 😉
That poor knight never got a break from that castle gate lol.
it's been 10+ years since I saw this episode

The first thing I thought of when I saw that black knight was “NONE SHALL PASS!"
4:20 Skyrim's Dragonborn battle song starts...
i cant help but laugh at 8:04

The black knights laugh is one of the best things I've ever seen/heard.

@@WillCWilson Oh yes; the 1950s Gumby episodes are my favorites, as there's quite the charm to their primitiveness.
It's when Gumby got bigger eyes and a bidimensional mouth that the humans started to look good
@@Mattcai2004 That was because the puppets were often reused from Davey & Goliath.
There was a video that used the gumby intro. It was a game grumps animated.

2.59 s1 episode s 4 5 and 6 didn't exactly look the best
whos watching this in 2014?
Gumby episodes are so cheap 😕😖
Virginia Journey, this is actually very hard to make /animate this by using a stop motion. Plus, this was made in 1956.
No there original from 1995
foxy 101s this is too old to be from the 90s, the music, the toys and figures are from the 50s
