I had my first encounter with a large male in 2014 in SD. My wife was doing her vision quest. It was 3 am. I was sitting by the fire when I saw this large object out the corner of my eye. I turned to see this being standing six feet away from my wife. He was crouched down as if admiring her singing as she sang her spirit songs. He then stood up and looked over at me then walked around her then calmly walked away. My wife is Lakota and I'm Dakota. These being I believe are from another world and deeply understand the natives way. There are countless stories of these beings coming to our sweat lodges and joining in our Sundance. Even some of them performing the ghost dance. They are truly beautiful beings.

Interesting note: pagans believe around 3 am is when "the veil" between this world and the next is the thinnest. Thus, the best time to communicate with the other side, etc.

I've also heard a story told by a guy who became a researcher. He was about 7 years old at the time and his family was camping. They did this often. He woke up he had to go relieve himself. His parents were still up sitting at the fire and he went into the woods to do so. He then decided to walk a bit cause the moon was bright.
Well he got turned around and as far would have it clouds rolled in so there went his light to see by. I'm not sure but I think it also began raining. He was very lost and began crying. He got tired and sat down on a fallen tree. Mean while his parents were frantic looking for him. He felt hopeless.
Then to his surprise a very large hairy female came up next to him and gently patted his head and reached out her hand for him to take. He couldn't walk though the woods like she could so she picked him up and walked him though the trees and brush and brought him into sight of the camp. She set him down and nudged him in that direction. Then turned and walked back into the forest.
He walked into their camp and of course his mother was very happy to see him crying tears of joy. They had been looking for him for about 2 hours. He told them what had happened and he even drew a picture of the creature for them. They really didn't want to believe him but he said his mother did.
Though you hear of stories like this do not be fooled by them. These are not docile creatures folks. They can be gentle where they females and children are concerned but make no mistake that are very powerful beings and can snap you like a twig truth very little effort. Respect the forest people.

From everything I’ve read it seems the females are gentle and non violent unless their babies are being threatened. The males are huge and can be aggressive and ornery. I’m sure if they feel threatened they would kill. Luckily that doesn’t appear to be their first reaction and will warn any intruders away with increasingly aggressive moves. We should respect them and leave them in peace. They have been known to help people but that’s not a reaction I would count on. I would not want to see one in the woods I think it would really disturb me.

They are family, I'm Native American, when I was a youngster my little brother and I would herd sheep in the canyons. On more then one occasion the squatch would watch over us, no mountain lions, cougars, coyotes, etc would harm us, it let out a howl each time we were in the canyon. We didn't know exactly what made the howl until we saw our first Sasquatch movie in 1972, from there on on many occasions we knew we were being watched by our big brother. We are now grown and hear many similar stories of our big brothers & sisters!

    Great story.
I live in the mountains of West Virginia also. A very small town. One stop sign, a convenient store and the post office is it. Out in the cut. Nothing for miles. There have been many sightings in these parts Especially from from the logging truck drivers. They drive 24 /7 around here. Anyway. I have had some, activity, here at the house. Banging on the walls. That would star from one end to the other. Then down the side wall. Some very strange yells and screams and noises come from out back. Last winter. Cold, sleeting and snowing. I came home one night around 10. I took a couple steps heading towards the back door. It couldn't have been 30, 40 feet from behind me. Something let out a "whoop". But it was long deep and drug out. Like a "whoooooooop"! Stopped me in my tracks. I slowly turned around but seen and heard nothing else. I didn't stand there long. But thinking to myself, knowing that no person is out there at night in the middle of winter.
    Just wanted to share.

I have too. Most recently I heard one that a man told about how when he was around 6 he got lost in the woods nearby to where his family was camping. He got scared and was sitting on a log crying when a female appeared, took him by the hand, and half led, half dragged him the quarter mile back to the campground within eye shot of his family's tent. Then she let go and disappeared into the woods. I have no doubt that most of these creatures....if well fed and not mistreated by Humans, can be kind and gentle. However, I also have no doubt that if they are very old or disabled or otherwise on the verge of starvation, they will kidnap and eat a Human without hesitation.

I live in the Northwest and there's an actual law in Washington state. It's a federal crime to kill or hurt a Bigfoot. Or any other undiscovered creatures. In one of President Teddy Roosevelt books, he spoke about a Bigfoot he encountered on a hunting trip. I call them, the Guardians of the forest.✌🏼

@@lanemimnaugh7486 We're in the woods often and I can feel them watching. It just feels that way. We don't go looking for them, don't try to attract them or any of that. But we know they are there and we can hear them. My kids heard one stomp it's feet and push a tree over. Then a grunt type sound. They were on their way home from Forks area and stopped to make some sandwiches before it got dark. A clearing off the road just enough so they weren't annoyed too much by traffic. That's when they heard all the racket from the woods on the other side of the clearing. They knew it didn't want them there. They really didn't look in the direction of the noise. They just hurried up and put everything away and ate on the road. I was glad they did it that way. You never know when one could be aggressive. Not to be messed with. Gotta show respect. The woods is their home. Although they seem to be coming more into campgrounds to dumpster dive and into communities on the outskirts of towns. Fruit trees and stuff must attract them. This may create some problems for all. Thanks for your comment and 'will do' say hi to them. I always announce myself and let them know I mean no harm to them or the woods. Sounds silly but if I go to someone's house I announce by knocking and not breaking the door down. kinda like that. lol.
PS - I don't like when people who don't believe in them go and watch videos about them and then call believers nuts. that's a closed mind. One that doesn't even research. Guess that's gotta be one boring life. A closed mind can't learn anything!

I have saved toddlers from everything from standing in the middle of a highway, to saving a little girl who was lost at a flea market and being followed by an old creepy man! Motherly love compelled me to run into a stranger's house - it was on fire- bc i heard her screaming that her hands were in fire! (She's fine, now btw).

Absolutely fantastic story! Female's of almost every animal species can show maternal instincts, sadly, better than some human females in some cases.
My ex girlfriend and I saw one of these creatures in 1994, from a very close distance. It was either the real deal or an amazing costume. I believe the reason for our sighting was because the area was flooded and the creature was driven out of its normal territory. It was within ten feet of the road and kept its back to us the whole time. We'd just rounded a sharp curve when we saw it. We got almost directly beside it, then it just walked away at a normal pace without looking back. It's been a long time now but I believe it was in early April, approximately 2:30 a.m. It was hard to judge it's size since we were sitting down, in a car. I'd say it was six to six and a half feet tall, 250 to 300 pounds with very long, light brown hair. The entire sighting lasted only around fifteen seconds, until it was out of the view of the headlights. If it was a person in a costume, they were taking a big chance of getting shot. If I'd had a gun, I believe I would've shot it, at least back then. I'm older and a much different person than I was back then, I definitely wouldn't harm it now. This happened in western KY.

To the man who shared this story, thank you! I believe every word and I felt as though I was there with you during your experience. I am glad that you were rescued by one of the forest mothers who may well have had a young one herself nearby. I'm happy that you still own the land although I was slightly confused when you said that it is now part of a game reserve. I REALLY hope that there's not folks up there killing the Squatches, especially as they themselves seek no conflict. I loved you talk about the gifts they left and I have heard of Bigfoot wrapping up small rodents in leaves and leaving them as gifts. Your daddy was wise not to share the knowledge of them with the outside world. Yes, either he would have been ribbed and laughed at due to the casts and his belief or idiots with guns would have come out in force to kill them. There's a book I have read repeatedly called "The Abominable ". It is published by an author whose name is Dan Simmons, but actually is a manuscript from a climber by the name of Jake Perry. The story is a true account of the secret 1925 Everest expedition of which Jake was a member. I wish that everyone would read it but I wanted to mention the Yeti at the end of the story, because Jake went to his death never having shared anything with anyone during the rest of his life, except for Churchill who knew about it all, but I digress. The Yeti DID NOT like the loss of life or the noise that the Germans made and so near the end of the trek they simply grabbed the shooters from behind and literally tore their heads off! Sir if you read this please know that I and many others are grateful for you allowing us to learn more about the Bigfoot, regardless of the name they have in their respective countries. In Australia where I'm from, we have Yowies, which I am told are less friendly than Bigfoot, in general. They are also the only living thing in the Blue Mountains of NSW where I live that can kill a full grown kangaroo tear it's stomach apart and hang the carcass 10 feet up a tree! There are non believers everywhere but those of us who have had encounters, such as my grandson and others, know that they exist and deserve our respect. Good luck to you and your family!
