- MOMENT British-supplied Storm Shadow missile strikes bridge linking Crimea and Kherson.
Dramatic new footage shows incoming British-supplied Storm Shadow missiles as they strike a crossing which links invaded Kherson region with the annexed Crimean peninsula.
The attack by Ukraine was at the Chongar Bridge in a blow to Vladimir Putin’s occupation.
Explosions are seen on the bridge which is labelled the ‘Gate to Crimea’
The strike was labelled “very accurate arrivals, you have to admit” by Russian war blogger with 1.1 million followers, Anatoliy Shariy.
The attack on Thursday threatens a key supply link to Russian forces amid the early stages of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
"We are destroying enemy plans, destroying the enemy's capability to stand up against us,” said spokesperson Natalia Humeniuk for the Ukrainian military's Southern Command after the strike.
The Russians have admitted it could take weeks to fully repair the bridge.

It's not Storm Shadow, it's something else that was only used to incapacitate the bridge, not destroy it.
Storm Shadow has a warhead of up to 500 kg, the missile would have destroyed the entire bridge.

If you look at the still it does look like a Storm Shadow. Explosion and damage are indeed a bit underwelming.
Intentional perhaps? Luring the Ruzzians into repair efforts?
If you advance the footage frame-by-frame you can clearly see there were two weapons separated by just a couple of feet which hit one immediately after the other. The weapons used appear to have small winglets on them so they are definitely a smart weapon of some type. I agree the explosion seen does not appear to be from two weapons with a combined total explosive weight of 900 kilos.
There's videos showing pieces and it definitely came from the French firm that makes Storm Shadow.

Probably was a storm shadow. People expected a biggger blast but much of that probably went into the water underneath. Dont know how the warhead works but know they can go deep into buildings and other concrete structures.

Nope that was not Storm Shadow the blast radius is 5x less greater than the missiles payload what you saw in this video. Storm Shadow carries a payload almost powerful than the Tall Boy bomb.
Storm Shadow has a payload of 450 kg and detonates after going over an obstacle, as it is made against bunkers. In this case, it explode under the bridge.

Partially destroy bridge you stop heavy armour and transport using it to reinforce. Infantry can still retreat but without heavy armour and transport, which is the aim.

I take your point, but I don't think it's the best way to proceed. Ukraine is always low on ammunition. The West is both unwilling and unable to supply sufficient weapons to defeat Russia, and for this reason the war is unwinnable by both sides. The sooner Biden, Sunak, Zelensky and Putin admit this, the sooner they can start to negotiate an end to this war. I appreciate the sentiment that this is a just war, but it is being driven by politics rather than justice.

The damage really needs to be much greater to prevent fast repairs. I would think more missiles are needed over the coming weeks and months . Crimea will certainly be in Ukraine again but it could take another year or more .
It is a 3 week repair.
